"This song was a huge hit in 1972. A kid from my 5th-grade class brought the 45rpm single to class and the teacher let him play it on his small portable suitcase record player for the class...I was eleven years old. PS: some other 45 records he brought to play that day (Mandy, You're So Vain, Alone Again Naturally, It Never Rains in S. California).
You are my age and i remember all those singles on the radio. There was some awesome music back then considering these pop songs shared the charts with monster bands like Zeppelin, The Who etc. Brandy was one of my favs as young kid.
Thank you JJ, my wife is going to be very happy to hear me play this one! She only hears it every other day on Sirius "Yacht Rock"! Great song, never thought it would be such a fun strummer!
Favorite song of a friend of mine who passed way too early. When he played it for me a few years back he couldn’t believe I had never heard it and we always joked about that. Now it seems I hear it all the time. Thanks for the lesson that will help me keep his memory alive around the ole campfire.
THAT'S what I've been looking for dude! A simple strumming version for solo play or add some fills & licks to that if you've got someone to play with. Thanks a million!!!
I'm a year into guitar. Play/practice everyday. You are an inspiration. Thanks for the breakdown but man it's hard. The strum, the alt D step down. susC. My brain's exploding and I got blista's on my finga's. Thanks for your channel.
Hey this is cool! I never thought to try playing this but now I will. I grew up hearing this on the radio. I swear I always pictured the singer having a beard, wearing a corduroy jacket and a beret or something, but then I saw the old video of their TV appearance one day and I was SHOCKED.
Funny, I received a recommendation for Digital Split yesterday. This tune is one of many I played along with last night until my fingers gave out. When I received your notification for this, I immediately wondered if you discovered the same source.
Nice job on the buried acoustic part. Note that the Digital Split channel is at least the 3rd iteration of whoever is putting out those individual tracks. Each time his/her channel gets banned so get while the getting is good.
i used to listen to this on my way to see my girlfriend, now everything’s in turmoil cuz of this pandemic stupidity. life is hard for teenagers like me right now, it’s hard to listen to this song without crying at the memory of how things were not even 3 months ago
YoungGeezer, keep strong my friend. Things will ease eventually, and we will get back to some sort of normality. If we have our lives, we are the lucky ones.... God bless.
I was drummer in a very popular Las Vegas show group in Denver call The Glass Menagerie we opened with this song every night, memories thank you.

My question is how do you remember that

I liked this video before the ad was even finished. Thank fuck for James James man what a legend.
Always loved the story in this song.
Guardian of the Galaxy. Awesome mix vol. 2. What makes the both films great is the music playlist. Well chosen.
A keyboard and brass-driven song with a peppy strumming part. Great playing as always. Let's go Buffalo!

Thank you James for simplifying
Nice job! And yes....the way you did this on guitar
would make it a nice solo/campfire tune. I never would have considered this song, but will!
I'm so envious of your talent. I'd give both nuts to play that seamlessly...lol 😆
Perfect

Hummingbird? NICE also good job
RHCP did a "live" version at the Slane Castle concert. Just saying. Thank you, James James!
They used to play this one in every concert at that time. I love it!
Nice!
Hummingbird getting a workout!
I think some of the guys in this band went on to play in Starz one of the best hard rock bands that should have been huge
Hell yes
Oh yeah...😎
hi jj nice one. elliot wrote it way different, he tells the story here, plays it too
Brandy (You're A Fine Girl) live, guitar/vocal - UA-cam
Apart from a couple of fills, that sounds very much like the electric part on the final recording.
Thanks, my son can sing the crap out of this song, time to learn it, go Sabre’s.
Should write out the chords you’re using. At least a graphic on the screen or something but good job regardless
Should watch the complete lesson I did showing all the chords I'm using.
Ahhh I was not aware. Apologies. Thanks.
Sorry, I was in a smart aleck mood.
No worries mate. Just keep doin what you’re doin. It’s awesome.
Too many chord changes, damn
