Vivi, it's so good to see your positive attitude. It spills over into the followers of your videos. You have no idea how uplifting your videos are to those that need encouragement. It's why you get so many comments on every video. You actually take the time to read and respond to every single comment. That in itself is an amazing tribute to just what kind of person you are.
The challenges to live on a reduced income are well worth the rewards of freedom from stress and schedules made by others. When I retired almost 9 years ago, I never looked back and have enjoyed every minute of it. There are so many things to do and explore that don't cost a lot of money but are so filled with excitement and interest. I'm glad you are able to think about extending you time off earning a living. You have a very creative mind and I'm sure you can come up with ways to supplement your saving to help with living costs.
    Have a great recovery day.
    Nebraska Dave

All Paralympians from all countries are an inspiration. As an Australian I am really proud of our Paralympic athletes. There's even one from Australia who crossed the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea. This trek is challenging for able-bodied people but for a guy who has been in a wheel chair all his life to do the trek is absolutely amazing.

What a brilliant wee bit of film. You are right. We have so much to be thankful for yet we focus on the negative.
I know you’re planning taking more time off but do you think you’ll return to nursing? Such a stressful job but you seemed to be so proud to call yourself one. Quite rightly so too.
Every time I find myself moaning about something trivial, I will direct myself here to remember how lucky I am.
Keep looking after yourself. So nice to see you recovering and all bright and breezy. 💋

You are my inspiration. I'm having surgery on Jan 16th and am really looking forward to it. Just to be rid of this pain, if for no other reason. Thank you for mentioning the para-athlete's. My nephew was born with a spinal problem, and has spent his life working twice, maybe three times harder than anybody else just to get through the day. They are truly amazing. I'm glad to see that you are well and truly on your way to recovery. Bless you Vivi.

Glad to see you back to your enthusiastic self! I agree that the para athletes are inspiring. Though tv coverage has been a bit sparse here in Canada we celebrate some of our Paras beginning with Terry Fox and Rick Hansen on through the totally incredible Chantel Petitclerc to the next para hero. I don't view them as disabled athletes but as differently abled athletes.. Keep on healing and please keep us up to date on your progress.

Wow that's seriously high on life mode. I love it. I agree about the para's in Olympics and how inspiring they are as well as people who are actually just at home fighting their illness and winning at just seizing life's goodness while they work around their illness or personal challenge. It's so nice to see that you're feeling good! I think if the op did anything, it made you appreciate your independence and health (besides the knee) that much more. You are independent enough to get to a corner store and hobble a bit to gather your needs which is a huge step in the mobility and self reliant direction. You are a ray of sunshine even when ill. Looking forward to hearing about your writing and sewing progress. I think the writing will provide some boredom outlet. You can travel anywhere in your mind while you wait to be able to travel it in your full body. Enjoy the meanderings on paper. Sounds like you're healing nicely which is a great thing and I look forward to hearing what all they did to improve your mobility in that knee here or in chats. I was getting slogged down from just having the flu and the sun came out today. I was too tired to go outside after doing some work but just seeing it was enough to make my demeanor change. I used to love living in the rainy city and am not a fan of super hot and bright but like summer during the evenings when things cool off a bit and the mornings in the garden when the flowers are opened and everything is still very dewy. Now it's seriously mud and gray so mainly I think the goal will be indoor festivities and 'lightness" of being. I usually have bits of time going from garden season to the holidays where I feel bored and unsettled.I don't miss the pain causing work of the garden for me but I do miss just being immersed in nature and the little learning moments I get just sitting in one spot weeding, digging, planting or even tidying. I miss the birds (which I managed to get to my patio but door is closed so can't hear them) and the fresh air too. I think this is a season to take photo safari's. Right now it's rainy but then we get some cold, damp but not raining days, or frosty days where it's really cool to walk in the woods and just see what frost, fog, and dampness is doing out there. We see mosses and giant creepy but interesting slugs and frost settling on the spider webs and the fog occasionally creates a slight goth overtone to the walk and makes everything more of a misty black and white film feeling. It's , to me, more fun to walk in the woods when it's cold (as long as not too muddy) and just study what came last year, what's hibernating, contemplate what's coming and breathe the crisp air. It makes coming home all that much more cozy also. OOPs, another long response but I get ya is what I'm trying to say. :) Happy healing!

What Vivi did next my puppy can't walk well now. I bought him a stroller with giant wheels so maybe he can off-road it but he's truly too ill to be my waking buddy now. I may have to borrow a dog for the time being. My upstairs neighbor has a three legged dog who walks very well. Maybe I need to start a dog walk service to get my exercise jn. Maybe after my surgery is over and recovery is done.

You have to do it yourself if you want to live a true FULL life. Have had several major medical issues in my 40s which a great portion of society use as an excuse to stop living and growing. In my late 50s fell off a small studio I was building in my garden. Broke my elbow and ribs and had no health insurance. As a medical person knew there wasn't much to do for the ribs and luckily the elbow responded to slings and raps. I still had my gardens to attend to so I did as best I could and let some things go to weeds for the year. My arm is now crooked but no pain and no interference with my working. Now in my late 60s I look at my friends and age mates who keep slowing down and accepting old age and infirmity without a fight because of aches and pains. I refuse to not push against the aches and pains and be as active as muscle and bone will allow. Athletes push through the pain to achieve their goals, THEY LIVE THEIR LIVES TO THE FULLEST. So do you Vivi BRAVO.

Glad to see you in good spirits. Don't overdue it, or you might go backwards not forward. I'm one that says to my self , get over it, a lot of people have it worse off, but its not depressing, it takes the focus off of yourself and makes you do a reality ck. I have a friend that's never happy. I tell him sometimes, when he's complaining about a new car or clothes,''you have a roof over your head and you and your pets never are cold or hungry, you're better off then most in the world', it's tough love. *So here's some tough love for Vive...things she can be thankful for: You're alive after the surgery, You don't have an incurable disease (that I know of), It's not spring planting season, and a Biggy, You're able to have surgery . Your country has Soc. Med care, it would cost at least 10k or more in the US, above Insurance, if you had Insurance, which many do not, so 20K??? and more for physio therapy , while other countries may not have any medical care for this type of elective surgery. Focus on what you have in your life, not what you do not have and I think you'd be a little happier.

Haha, I know you are .....That's not what I meant.... I was just explaining how I get out of depressed moods by thinking of the people who are less fortunate then me, which you felt was depressing. It sort of knocks the pity party right out of your head. While your method is more motivational, it wouldn't work for my friend who always thinks the grass is greener in everyone else's yard. Telling him "look at all these people with money, be like them.", would just piss him off, lol. Better to say "Be grateful, there are people with no yards, no less green grass." If you get my drift.

Totally......though I would never dream of saying 'look at all these people with money, be like them'.....I'd go more along the lines of look at these folk with nothing but who make the most of everything....and are happy.... :-)

A bit out of my remit......but......I understand from research that music is supposed to be really helpful with PD........perhaps make a compilation of your favourite tunes.....with some upbeat stuff.....to get you going? Worth a try eh? Good luck......and have fun.......have a dance! :-)
