Pleasant change from just chatting to cooking & chatting. For whatever reason I find your voice, tone or whatever a joy to listen to. This simple recipe, method & ingredients is a keeper. I love it when its healthy, simple, pure in it ingredients and I bet tasty. Keep feeding the world good for you information. Thanks Becky.
Thanks for all your fantastic recipes. I use garlic and slice it to flavour the oil. Often "convenient" forms of garlic and ginger use unhealthy fats added. They are also REALLY bad for our environment as they rarely come in glass. We need less plastic. I know that's often hard to avoid but in this case it's easy. Garlic (and ginger) etc come in perfect biodegradable packages naturally. Their skins! In this recipe it took me less than 10 seconds to prep the garlic from it's clove (skin and all).
I suppose I'll have to try it. You already have me eating salads every day now just since I started watching your videos. Keep it up and I'll be the healthiest 72 yr old you've never met😁
The Pine Nuts are enclosed in a very hard shell, which must be broken very carefully in order not to damage the seed. So this is why they are very expensive.
This sounds excellent! I’m going to try it this weekend. I normally prep meats and vegetables on the weekends for my lunches during the week. I’m hoping this will keep for several days in the refrigerator, in an airtight container.
@@DashingPartyCrasher at my costco last time I checked 1.5 pounds was $32.99. I've ordered from Amazon as well. Whenever I order in bulk I freeze them so they don't go rancid.
Thank you for the recipe. I think that perhaps sliced almonds might be a good substitute for the pine nuts. What are your thoughts on that? I would love to see more of your recipes. 😀
Debbie Hocking, thank you for the reply, but I actually didn’t “miss the point.” 1 cup of pine nuts has 92 grams of fat, and 1 cup of almonds has 72 grams. Although the pine nuts do have slightly more fat, they are more costly and not as readily available.
My mom, who is almost 78 and has been showing obvious signs of pre-Alzheimer's, loves green beans. Yes, green beans are good for fiber and fair for protein. Unfortunately though, Mom considers green beans as a "green vegetable" even though I've gently told her that they are actually a legume just like other beans and peas, and so they don't have nearly as much vitamins A and C as do real green veggies like broccoli, brussel sprouts, kale, spinach, etc. But since she never takes my (always gentle!) advice or doesn't remember it anyway, she still often chooses frozen green beans or frozen peas over the other much healthier REAL veggies. It's so hard to get seniors who are set in their ways to start healthier habits. And it's a shame that in frozen foods, green beans are almost never mixed or paired with healthier veggies. In fact, they're often mixed with GMO corn, which is also not a vegetable, but an inflammatory grain. Any "tricks" to getting stubborn seniors to make better choices? Also, I would also suggest she try pine nuts, but she is allergic to pine trees, so I'm guessing she'd also be allergic to pine nuts. Anyone know if that's true?

I love green beans now I have a new way to cook them.
Thank you 😊
Pine nuts actually come from a very small pine cone but only on the Pinion Pine tree that grows only in the higher altitudes of the west.
This a flavorful dish, and I've really enjoyed it with the salmon recipe you put together!
Thanks for your comment, Beverley!
This sounds excellent! I’m going to try it this weekend.

Lynn Harrell you missed the point of using pine nuts, they are higher in fat and therefore are more satisfying and filling.
