I was really happy to see this one today because it required absolutely no thought for me, personally. Grimoire is just miles upon miles better for me.
I'm taking Zeah mage and definitely taking this over Grimoire. I'm fine passing on ancients since Nature's Reprisal will comfortably carry to Shadow. I feel bad for people going Grimoire/Banker's Note honestly. Going to be a shock coming from Bankers Note, Recall, and Farmer's Fortune last leagues. Also I wouldn't worry about farming contracts. Anything you can get from them you can get from Echo Hespori runs.
can we use this farming one with tithe? because if no crop dies...then we could grab 10k seeds and fill EVERY patch and would it not just auto loot and replant?
I personally think it's better, more patches per seed and less time dping the farming. When your not online just log in and out every hour or 2 on mobile and it'll redo all ur patches
@@thefatpakyak2826 well, now you can spend no time planting all the seeds ypu dont need, still lasting the entire league and also giving you a huge chance at the farm pet
Fwiw Mazhar(the guy always at the top of leagues leaderboards) says farming is better if you're competing for points just because it saves so much time.
I actually think Overgrown is much better than people realise, you don't have to sit there actually doing farming for an hour like you did with Farner's Fortune, and it's unlikely you're going to use the supplies up faster than you're getting them passively, and you're effectively getting quadruple seeds as well. I do think this is a good relic if you're taking banker's note.
Exactly. It's like comparing a prayer potion with the new prayer regeneration potion. Farmer's Fortune was exactly as he described last year... dump all your seeds in an hour and never farm again. It was nice to knock out Farming fast, but now I kind of see how it wasn't the best for long-term as Overgrown will be.
However you also don't get the BENEFIT of sitting there and doing farming for an hour, i.e. all tithe farm and farming guild tasks completed in Kourend.
@Nuvizzle The tithe farm argument is definitely valid, it'll be interesting to see if they also can't die, because if that's the case you can use all the patches and it will still be pretty quick getting the tasks done, not as fast as farmer's fortune by any way but still quick enough. If you have tithe farm, though, then you also have CoX, and you get 3 prayer scrolls from there, not to mention the arceuus spellbook from Zeah anyway, so by picking Zeah it somewhat devalues Grimoire.
@@UIM_Moose honestly though, I don't plan on having time to do any raids (have to learn from scratch), so Grimoire could still be useful for someone like me.
It says seed of the same type. So does would it like pick the highest level herb seed possible or would it repeat the same herb seed and if you don't have that specific herb seed plant nothing ?
I agree what some people are saying, where grimoire is better because it gives you combat advantage, even though I thought they said something where combat vs utility relics weren't going to be a thing, but I personally really like this relic. Being me (an early newbie) I understand Piety is a must if I want to go through my melee build, but my main goals are to get god wars swords, (Hoping a pet), and to do ToB with my friend that got me into the game, so doing the farming stuff in the background for the long haul is better then getting prayers, so I think I'll get this and just go and get Piety the old fashioned way.
I'm planning on taking my comfort regions (ZDF), so I'll have all four spellbooks and two of the three unlockable prayers anways, which makes the Grimoire relic less appealing. If the third relic on this tier isn't that appealing, I'll have an endless supply of seeds from Farming Guild contracts to feed into the Overgrown relic, which would be really cool-basically solving Farming and Herblore while giving me a near endless supply of potions.
My general consensus: Farming relic good, still taking grimoire. Varlamore having mixology with boosted minigame points, high level potions will be practically free, and should only take like half a day or so to supply yourself for most if not all the league.
currently planning on ZDF range for my build so grimoire really doesn't have a ton of use for me as I will have access to all 4 spellbooks + rigour/augury; interested to see what might be competing with overgrown to draw my attention away
Im gonna be real the moment they clarified no offline progress on growth killed the interest in this one specifically, not close enough to not take Grimoire since im going Magic
Big fan of this relic, the passive xp is gonna feel so nice. I don’t need grimoire as I’m a mage going zeah so probably would take the farming one over it
At the moment I'm planning on Varlamore/Priff/Frem planning on the Grimore Relic that could of course change depending on the relics that come out. Overgrown casual gains sound comfy. If you're going for a casual style for the league I think it will be nice to have. If you are going for a high tier PvM plan to get the echoes items I don't think its the play.
emergent gameplay 100% though, thats by far the most amazing and enjoyable hype part of leagues especially when it gets you strategizing to make sutff broken
Im wondering if there will be a passive crop growth speed buff this year similar to xp/mini game points or something. If so I think that’ll make this relic quite a bit stronger, and help gathering resources for supplies stay up to pace with how fast we’ll be going through content. Just seems weird they’d scrap the overwhelmingly best part of the relic, and global buffs to growing speed would make auto harvest/plant really good. I without that eh…as a prior farmers fortune enjoyer it’s a tough sell
I kinda feel the opposite, that having more farming patches lowers the value of this relic. There's no way you're going to be able to upkeep all the seeds for that many patches. And if you only have a couple patches then you really benefit from keeping 100% uptime on growing in them, combined with them never dying is a pretty huge boost. If you're a ranger who's taking Zeah, or a mage that's taking Zeah and Desert, I think you can get away without the Grimoire, but with so much of league being combat focused a relic needs to be massively better to overcome a pseudo-combat boosting relic like Grimoire
My question is how will it work with Tithe Farm? Could you just bring in resources from Bankers note, let the tithe farm run in the background and skill there? Cause it says plants never die and are replanted-
Overgrown gives you more than just farming. You get Giant Seaweed for Crafting, especially if you Fremmy. You get a bunch of allotments for cooking XP. You obviously get Herbs for Herblore. I think if you're not melee and going Kourend then this is better than Grim imo.
For me, with what my personal goals are and what my friends are doing, I'm going to be getting *every* spellbook anyway. The only thing from Grimoire I'd be missing out on is Piety, and taking a whole relic for just that doesn't seem smart to do. I also really love having to ignore doing farm runs, 5 minutes every hour is going to add up to quite a lot of time running around to different patches and planting seeds that I could instead keep working on other skills. So I like the farming relic a lot. Worried about choice 3 though.
Checked the math; you are correct in on average 4 harvests out of every seed. Nerd stuff later in the comments. For those interested, there's 2 ways of doing it. The first way is fairly simple: We notice that if we were to plant 4 seeds, we would lose 1 seed and get 4 harvests. Therefore, for every 1 seed we lose we get about 4 harvests on average. The more formal way is with summations. We list the probability of saving a seed a certain amount of times and how many harvests we'd get out of that, then try to reduce that summation down to a real number. So the average amount of harvests from getting 1 harvest, then getting 2 harvests, then getting 3 harvests etc. We call this sum S and use (...) to denote we're continuing the pattern infinitely. 1]] S= 1 * 1/4 + 2 * (1/4)*(3/4) + 3*(1/4)*(3/4)^2 + (...) To solve this we need to find some other expression that we can use to subtract from this one to get rid of the infinite summation. Lets first try to multiply by 4 to get rid of that 1/4 for simplicity. 2]] 4S = 1 + 2*(3/4) + 3*(3/4)^2 + 4*(3/4)^3 + (...) Ok, now we need to get rid of that pesky infinite summation. We'll first try by multiplying both sides of [2] by 3/4. 3]] (3/4)*4S=3S=1*(3/4)+2*(3/4)+3*(3/4)+ (...) Close! We can use this to make the summation of 4S in line [2] simpler by subtracting the 3S we got from line [3] 4]] 4S-3S= S =1+(3/4)+(3/4)^2+(3/4)^3+ (...) Way more simple! Now we once again try to get rid of that infinite summation by getting something close to the right side. Notice that if we just multiply both sides by 3/4 we get 5]] (3/4)*S= (3/4) + (3/4)^2+(3/4)^3 + (...) This is the right side of the infinite summation in [4]! Now we can just subtract that from [4] to find. 6]] S - (3/4) S = 1 7]] 1/4 S =1 8]] S = 4 So the average amount of harvests is 4! Now this was obviously a lot more work, but the benefit is that its also much more versatile. It's some of the math that I still pull up the most commonly in day-day life.
I think I might pick this relic, depending on the third choice. My zones currently look like AFZ. So the only things Grimoire gives would be Piety and Ancients. Both are good, but I always push off farming and never do it.
I'm planning on Z + F ranged, so neither relic synergizes amazingly with those regions. If the third relic does synergize better I'll pick that, otherwise won't be mad at all picking Overgrown, just for removing the tedium of farming.
I think people are underestimating the value this relic will have for herblore. Limpwurts, snapegrass, white berries, are all hard to come by, and having a stack passively growing in your bank is huge.
I was hoping for SOME increased speed in farming, but this is still very powerful. I still loved leagues two farm runs I still quote mintmadcow "water malones"
daaaaaaamn i was so set on Grimoire but this is going to be a problem. i loved the farming relic last year. I also love the iteration the team has been doing on relics keeping them feeling fresh and exciting and giving us hard choices. Im not planning on taking Zeah so Grimoire getting me prayers and arceuus spellbook is huge but having farming and herb gathering for herblore solved by Overgrown is massive too. With Fairies Flight farm runs wouldn't be bad but if i go Clue Compass (which is what im leaning towards), then im not sure how much i will want to run around doing farm runs when i could just have Overgrown. If there is a herblore relic then that might take some of the value out of Overgrown for me but right now i have no idea what im going to pick for this tier.
I've gotten 99 farming every league, and I only chose the farming relic in twisted league. I chose ruinous powers last league just to mess around with them, and I feel that grimoire is even better this year for both fun and dps. I might be tempted to switch to the third, but for now I'm gonna go grimoire over overgrown.
Hooti did confirm it uses tree seeds but does not provide roots. I'm definitely going Overgrown over Grimoire but if the third is a boosted equilibrium I'll do that instead. I for one know I /will/ do my farm runs, I'll only have a couple patches anyways.
Keep in mind this doesnt gove secondarys. Snape grass seeds are rare outside zeah and red spider eggs are rare outside wild or kandarin. So you can have 10k ranners or snaps but they are useless without secondarys.
If i was going melee id probably take valamore sadly im going magic to help out the raid team. Only super restores ill get is from boss drops note them and save for nex. While using p pots for all other content.
As I'm picking Kourend I'm really hoping on a fun 3rd relic in this tier. I had no problem getting 50m farming xp without a relic last time and the grimoire won't benefit me too much
My main problem with overgrown is you're probably going to want to take Zeah for all the patches there and the farming guild. If you have Zeah, then you have echo Hespori which you can fight over and over with no cooldown. If echo Hespori still drops farming xp then you already have such a large amount of farming xp, so at that point, overgrown would just be used for supplies.
@@GormanVidal Grimoire has anti-zeah synergy as well with an overlap of a spellbook and 2 prayers. Sure you'd miss Piety and Ancient's, but they're not a huge loss unless you need freeze.

Eh, this is okay if the farming cycles are super fast. Otherwise, the best part of the farming relic for me last year was how much time it saved, as someone who didn't have a lot of free time for leagues. Resources aren't really a problem honestly. And just 'not being lazy', while personally fk yeah I hate farm runs, just doesn't feel like a "real" benefit for a relic to have. If it worked offline I think I'd actually have to think about it, but for now its defo Grimoire
Honestly, if farming growth tics are faster, then ill take the grimoire. If they arent then im taking the the farming relic. If the tics aren't faster, i can just use the trollheim, the ice troll one and the falador farm herb patches and do those 3 while at work to solve my potions problems.
This might be a pickup for me. I plan on going Zeah and Fremmy so I don't really need the prayer book. This will be nice to have infinite pots along with bankers note.

Would grimoire even matter if im going range for the 100 percent accuracy?
This farm relic is a big letdown for me. Not nearly as good as last leagues farm relic. this vs arcane grimoire is an easy choice for me
I personally think it's better, more patches per seed and less time dping the farming. When your not online just log in and out every hour or 2 on mobile and it'll redo all ur patches
@@francisbalfour1243I liked planting all the herbs I needed within 20 min and lasting me the entire leagues
@@thefatpakyak2826 well, now you can spend no time planting all the seeds ypu dont need, still lasting the entire league and also giving you a huge chance at the farm pet
@@francisbalfour1243no pet chance
Fwiw Mazhar(the guy always at the top of leagues leaderboards) says farming is better if you're competing for points just because it saves so much time.
I love farming. Fav skill, so im definitely going overgrown, just to do it in a different way sounds really fun.
@@Demonslay335 I also need to learn them from scratch 😅 only one I can do reasonable well is ToA
Does this work at tithe? Can I just grab 10k seeds plant seeds in every patch and just afk?
It says seed of the same type. So does would it like pick the highest level herb seed possible or would it repeat the same herb seed and if you don't have that specific herb seed plant nothing ?
I agree what some people are saying, where grimoire is better because it gives you combat advantage, even though I thought they said something where combat vs utility relics weren't going to be a thing, but I personally really like this relic. Being me (an early newbie) I understand Piety is a must if I want to go through my melee build, but my main goals are to get god wars swords, (Hoping a pet), and to do ToB with my friend that got me into the game, so doing the farming stuff in the background for the long haul is better then getting prayers, so I think I'll get this and just go and get Piety the old fashioned way.
remember that total recall snapshots your stats, you're never gonna need more than one dose of any stat boosting potion per commitment to an activity
It doesn’t snapshot boosted stats
I'm planning on taking my comfort regions (ZDF), so I'll have all four spellbooks and two of the three unlockable prayers anways, which makes the Grimoire relic less appealing. If the third relic on this tier isn't that appealing, I'll have an endless supply of seeds from Farming Guild contracts to feed into the Overgrown relic, which would be really cool-basically solving Farming and Herblore while giving me a near endless supply of potions.
You can store saplings in the seed vault, so if they haven't mentioned it yet, my base assumption would be that you need to make saplings.
Didn't previous leagues insta grow seeds?
Big fan of this relic, the passive xp is gonna feel so nice. I don’t need grimoire as I’m a mage going zeah so probably would take the farming one over it
So before we get a mastery reveal: are we predicting style lock or no style lock this year?
Im leaning towards no style lock atm 👀
Since my regions are already including desert and fremmy it is definitely a free choice for me to take the farming relic!
Maybe I missed it but do we loose the resources or do we get them all when we pick it?
emergent gameplay 100% though, thats by far the most amazing and enjoyable hype part of leagues especially when it gets you strategizing to make sutff broken
One game changer id like to know if buff hespori will give farming xp still
Do we know for sure that the autofarm feature continues when we're not online? That would be pretty wild
I'm very excited for a full afk character to supplement my full on pvm character. This is turning into Melcor lol
Everyone’s an Ironman though
Did they say farming will grow at normal game rate? Or does everyone have insta grow? If normal grow rate farming is gonna to suck to train
I would like to see them open all the tiers and you can pick whichever you want from any tier.
My question is how will it work with Tithe Farm? Could you just bring in resources from Bankers note, let the tithe farm run in the background and skill there? Cause it says plants never die and are replanted-
plants are only replanted if you have the seed in your seed vault. Since tithe farm seeds can't be stored in the vault they won't be replanted.
@ let me cope please I beg of yoy
Overgrown gives you more than just farming. You get Giant Seaweed for Crafting, especially if you Fremmy. You get a bunch of allotments for cooking XP. You obviously get Herbs for Herblore. I think if you're not melee and going Kourend then this is better than Grim imo.
Crafting is already banked via buying Uncut Gems from Gem Stalls, which not only gives you very quick xp but also turns a profit.
@@Teeteeteeteetee-w4mgem stalls were very annoying though. I couldn’t be bothered to keep doing it last year
But that's all still farming
Man I'm so hyped
1]] S= 1 * 1/4 + 2 * (1/4)*(3/4) + 3*(1/4)*(3/4)^2 + (...)
To solve this we need to find some other expression that we can use to subtract from this one to get rid of the infinite summation. Lets first try to multiply by 4 to get rid of that 1/4 for simplicity.
2]] 4S = 1 + 2*(3/4) + 3*(3/4)^2 + 4*(3/4)^3 + (...)
Ok, now we need to get rid of that pesky infinite summation. We'll first try by multiplying both sides of [2] by 3/4.
3]] (3/4)*4S=3S=1*(3/4)+2*(3/4)+3*(3/4)+ (...)
Close! We can use this to make the summation of 4S in line [2] simpler by subtracting the 3S we got from line [3]
4]] 4S-3S=
S =1+(3/4)+(3/4)^2+(3/4)^3+ (...)
Way more simple! Now we once again try to get rid of that infinite summation by getting something close to the right side. Notice that if we just multiply both sides by 3/4 we get
5]] (3/4)*S= (3/4) + (3/4)^2+(3/4)^3 + (...)
This is the right side of the infinite summation in [4]! Now we can just subtract that from [4] to find.
6]] S - (3/4) S = 1
7]] 1/4 S =1
8]] S = 4
So the average amount of harvests is 4! Now this was obviously a lot more work, but the benefit is that its also much more versatile. It's some of the math that I still pull up the most commonly in day-day life.
Half way through now lads. 7 days left.
As a casual player, I like it.
I think this relic would be stronger if the farming timer was sped up, either directly from the relic or as passive for everybody
The opportunity cost is Ancient magiks and Piety. Its cool and i wanna see the last relic in this tier.
I hear you, and I raise you Mastering Mixology in Varlamore 😂
If i was going melee id probably take valamore sadly im going magic to help out the raid team. Only super restores ill get is from boss drops note them and save for nex. While using p pots for all other content.
As I'm picking Kourend I'm really hoping on a fun 3rd relic in this tier. I had no problem getting 50m farming xp without a relic last time and the grimoire won't benefit me too much
basically we're edging the entire leagues instead of blowing our load one time and packing it up
I HATE farming so i might want to do this.
we're so back
KEEP EM COMIN PA PA
Auto-farming looks amazing.
I'm guessing you don't get farming xp from echo Hespori because you don't plant her. But that is just me guessing.
This is anti synergy with Zeah. You already have farming contracts, tithe and hespori. No point taking this with Zeah as you don't need it.
@@GormanVidal Grimoire has anti-zeah synergy as well with an overlap of a spellbook and 2 prayers. Sure you'd miss Piety and Ancient's, but they're not a huge loss unless you need freeze.
@@josephcarreon2341 You are correct, Echo Hespori doesn't give farming xp.
@@The_Azure_ A not insignificant amount of people who take Zeah dont want to / cant do COX, so having free prayers without having to do the raid grind is appealing.
this one feels like a combat relic vs skill vs ?
What if i just... Dont get 99 farming...?
I'm hoping it's the slayer relic and they bring back pick your own tasks.
with Asgarnia and Morytania in the plans, I'm just hoping for a Slayer relic at this point 😅 afk scape between this and golden god is crazy though
As long as it gives you the leprechaun's outfit as well.
So for now it's basically:
Free 99 farming (possibly 50M and 200M exp) Plus infinity ingredients with barely any effort
or
All spellbooks and Prayers, including Piety...
Tough choice, not gonna lie
Now i do wonder if planting trees makes you get logs on only roots
No roots from trees confirmed
@@Opop901LP So...what happens with the trees? do you get the logs?
My take is that you get this relic relatively late at tier 5. Also as a Zeah Melee enjoyer I feel like I want piety. I also intend on doing tithe farm and farming contracts so I dont think I want Overgrown right now
Overgrown is better than it sounds imo. Completely passove farming is pretty cool.
HOWEVER Grimoire gives me all prayers and 2 spellbooks ill otherwise not get... So I'm glad to see something not super strong vs it 😅
Playing my HIM has made me really enjoy my farm runs so I think I will actually do them and get 99 without this relic.
I think they did good putting this against the grim. It's a pvm v pve build choice in my eyes.
If the tics aren't faster, i can just use the trollheim, the ice troll one and the falador farm herb patches and do those 3 while at work to solve my potions problems.
so now you gotta splash when going to bed for mage/farming xp
Doesnt that log you out after 25 mins though? Or has it been changed back? 😅
Farming is already pretty chill content, unless the 3rd relic offers something invaluable, it's gonna be Grimoire for me
I don't need farming
banker's note with my stack of sharks and moonlight moths >>>>>>>
This might be a pickup for me. I plan on going Zeah and Fremmy so I don't really need the prayer book. This will be nice to have infinite pots along with bankers note.
Same here, but how would u go about collecting secondaries? As much as i love farming relics this feels like a slap to the face
@DB-cx6uc ill be getting my birds nests from birdhouses for brews and and red spiders eggs from sarachnis.
You could even just afk fish sharks then grow both Snape grass and ranarrs in the farming guild.
Ahh such a hard choice! Overgrown is more efficient but grimoire more fun
Would be interesting to put ruinous powers in this tier since they're a bit better than the normal prayer book. Gives a boon to rangers/mages picking Z/D and meleers willing to skip thralls for V/D/M
I hope ruinous powers is the last relic
We basically have it with Grimoire
It's possible, though how it wasn't considered a combat relic last league I've no idea.
Seems really unlikely with grimoire
Trickster or Equilibrium type relic will be the 3rd.
@@newdad280 I have a feeling auto-pickpocket relic is against golden god
