Thank you so much! When got home earlier there was a baby sparrow on the concrete on our covered patio, it turns out there was nest built on the wide raptors above & he didn't even have open eyes yet & was pink, bald, with nothing but wing feathers & a cute little fuzzy head & he was helplessly peeping for his mama bird & I felt so bad thinking that there's nothing I can do about it because of the scent myth but after seeing this video I felt confident that this baby would be okay so I got a step ladder & returned him to his nest & am happier than ever that I didn't have to leave him alone outside to suffer or be vunerable to predators while then having to go sleep feeling bummed about not being able to save him I am so grateful thank you.

Thank you so much for this post. I rescued a baby bird hanging (entangled) from her nest (must have tried to fly sooner than she could - naughty one). I placed her in a shoe box and was searching the net for next steps when I came across this video. I removed some of the thread and hair she was entangled in and placed her back in the nest. Her mommy came after a while and took her back in care.

I like pelicans. When I was seven I found a pelican egg in my backyard, just sitting in the grass. I asked my daddy to help me look for the mama pelican. We found a nest with other pelican eggs in it and put our egg in. We were not sure if that where the egg came from, but I think we did the right thing

Had a baby bird fall out of a nest about a year go while I was heading to the movies with my mother. It took a long time to find the nest because it blended in so damn well with the tree branches. Luckily, after a couple of tries (crazy bird kept jumping out of the nest and landed on the ground) I was able to use my ladder put the baby bird back in its nest.

I actually watched this after I rescued some Robin babies to make sure I had done the right thing. A strong storm knocked the nest from a tree in my yard. I put on gardening gloves and picked up the two babies and one unhatched egg (mom or dad Robin was actually keeping watch over them in the yard!! The nest was still intact, so I put everything back in the nest (2 babies and one egg) and braced it a little better in the tree in almost the same spot. Mom or Dad was back on it in 15 minutes or less! Whew!! Crisis hopefully averted. Lol!

Just want to say 'thanks'. I was about to prune a pine that had some dead branches after a particularly bad storm here in the northeast (microbursts, tornadoes, hail, etc..) and saw a nest on the ground with 2 semi-feathered robins on the ground. After a quick heart attack, I took the two and placed them back in the nest, headed to youtube, saw this video, dumped the contents of an old hanging pot I had and followed the directions. My daughter took the nest, placed it in the basket, and then took the basket and placed it inside the pine. 30 minutes later, mom was hanging with her chicks and all is well. Thanks again for providing this video.

Thank you. I was distraught to come home and discover that my narcissistic neighbor had cut down both of the nests that were in my carport while I was gone. Thankfully, no babies were in them yet this year. But the parent birds come back every year, so hopefully, I can get the nests back up in the general areas they were in before so that the birds can carry on with their young this spring. Knowing that I can replace the nests myself is very helpful and eases a bit of the pain of my situation, too. Thanks again.

THANK YOU for this excellent video. A FedEx truck brushed some low branches and a small nest with 3 birds fell to the ground; 2 birds fell out. I followed your instructions exactly, and hopefully they will be okay. I especially appreciate your note about the human touch myth, as I had just heard that myth last night on a TV show, and was afraid these birds would not be wanted...then I heard the opposite in your video. Thanks for these excellent instructions. Next project (after the birds have flown the coop)--trim off those branches.

I've come across two very small baby crows on the ground in my yard over the years. The crows put their nests like at least 50 feet up in the eucalyptus trees, so the babies either got really lucky and landed on something nicer than a rock, or they're just tough suckers. Anyway, each time I could see what I assumed was the mother of the babies constantly hanging around and watching. I put the babies in a nice bird cage I had from previously owning birds (before I realized what terrible pets birds make in general). All I did was go out in the yard each day and dig for earth worms, starting with smaller ones and working up to whatever I found -- small or larger. I also had the cage outside during the day so the mamas could see their babies, and took them in at night. They eventually got quite big and I started keeping the cage door open until each finally flew away on their own. I guess earth worms do a baby birdy good. I also made it a point not to interact with the babies much more than feeding them. I didn't want them to lose any of their wild nature. Who knows if they would have or not... I didn't want to risk it anyway. So there's my cool story! Have a good one, everyone!

I found three baby birds knocked out of a tree in our front yard. Their parents weren’t there for about a whole day and I made some mushed up hard boiled egg for them to eat in case the mother doesn’t come back. So when I was done with the mixture, I saw a bird that came to the nest to “check” on them. Whenever she was done with what she was doing at least one baby bird was wiggling outside of the nest on the ground. I would put them back in because I know that they weren’t about the age to fall out of their nest. For about two days we kept on checking on them and once when me and my mom were about to start a jog around the park, we saw that when we walked to them, they would put their beaks up for food. They seemed weak and tried to give them some food for energy. Then it was nighttime and morning time. My mom woke up earlier then me, I asked if the baby birds were doing fine but she said that they died😨. They were stiff and didn’t move a bit. Mommy either thought it was because of the heat or because the mother gave up on them because they fell out of the weak tree they built the nest on. I believed them both. Shocked, I went out to say my last goodbyes but when I got there, they were gone! No where to be seen! I told my mom that I would’ve taken care of them inside if I had to chance and started to cry. My mom hugged me and said that she that we tried our best. I knew I could’ve done better, like bring them inside in the cool and have a warm lamp on them so they could feel cozy and feed every moment that I should, but we were at our cousin’s place and she didn’t want the baby birds in her house so we had to leave it outside. I was so sad and that’s why I searched this up, but I know this probably would’ve worked but I believed the mother was waiting for them to pass so after they died she could take them for food.😞😞😞 Believe me, I would’ve worked my tail off for them three sweet baby birds.

The houses didn’t have a nest either. i brought it back to house with my friend who found the bird and nearly ran over it. It was so tired it didn’t tweet and just slept. After a while the bird wanted to eat but we had nothing like worms and all the shops closed. but i managed to feed it some boiled eggs. It’s sleeping now and still alive! I hope its alive tomorrow…

Thank you for this. I just found a baby rock pigeon that fell from a nest that’s too high for me to get too. I followed your advice (actually, before I even saw the video!!). The baby bird is in a new nest, filled with grass and clippings. Hopefully the parents, who were watching all, will come to feed it. Now is the hard part....not watching over it and being patient.

About a couple years ago me and my friend found a baby blue bird, and we were young so we got a parent to help us and they said the baby would die since we touched it, so we decided to take care of it. We researched how to feed and the basics but when we decided to go to bed we asked if we could keep the bird in the house, her parent said no and made us get a area for the baby to sleep outside. In the morning we found out the baby passed away so me and my friend agreed if we ever find a baby bird again we were going to take much better care of it since now we semi had experience with baby birds. This memory just popped into my head so I'm here to understand better how to care for them!

Recently found a bird in the middle of the road. It was hopping around because the hot asphalt was burning its feet. Th nearest tree was 50 feet away and behind a barbed wire fence. It was probably 5 days old and only 70% covered was the feathers. Reluctantly I took it home and fed it dry cat food soaked in water. Then crickets, mealie worms and eventually seeds, grasses and flowers.
After a month I released him but he comes back. I've released him about a dozen times but he wants to be with us. He's had a close call with a hawk, snake and 2 cats. The other birds attack and have hurt him. He stays the n our big sunroom and he has a huge flight cage that I open in the morning and close at night. The windows are open and he often sits in them and looks out but goes no further. I don't mind. He's good company

I woke up this morning to my mother freaking out saying there is a baby bird that fell out of a nest. The nest came out of a palm tree. It's to tall and they don't exactly have branches so we will take you advice about making a new nest but we won't be able to hang it near by

That just happened to me , luckily the ladder I had was 12ft and I was just barely able to push the nest back together and put in the siblings , fingers crossed momma returns and builds a better more secure nest next time. 😖🤞🙃

this video was really helpful! :) I found a nest with 3 baby birds in it, and it was kinda making me scared, cause they would come right to the edge, and almost get nocked off by each other... plus, it's not in a tree, therefore it's not attached to any branches, so it's not that stable... So, thank you! now I know what to do if they fall. Thanks!!! :)

Woohoo! Just reunited a little sparrow with its parents. So happy. I was really worried as she couldnt fly eventhough she had all her feathers. Gave her some water, let her rest in my sock drawer and took her back outside after an hour. She flew just fine and her parents even stopped and chirped for a good 10 minutes. Feels great, thank God

I found a baby bird who is scared and fell out of his nest. He only has a bit of feathers and I feel so bad for him. I am soooo glad you busted the myth that people cannot touch baby birds my mom thinks that and wont let me touch it.

I found a bird all pink and see through, I waited for mum but she never came and the bird was barely breathing and was on a path , I wrapped her in a leaf and took her home , i took some branches off the tree and made a nest , turned out she was a goldfinch , I fed her hourly but tried not to humanise her as I knew she had to go back to the wild , she did ! she was all grown up and she used to sit on my shoulder while I was outside, then one day she flew to next doors garage then back to me then to the big tree in the garden and she stayed there and eventually had a family , I sobbed , but was happy to see her happy , I had a budgie that I found for 21/2 years loved him , now I have a little bird not sure what it is yet but it’s chirping and eating well ,

I found a nestling. It was stormy weather that day, a huge dead tree fell on my grandparent house, inside of that tree, there was a little nestling. It was extremely cold and raining heavily, most of the nearby trees are extremely tall, the nestling does not stay in a nest but instead, it lives inside of the tree. If I left the bird out there without protection, my grandparent's cat would attack it or the storm most likely kills it. I decided to adopt it even though the mother is searching for it. I don't have much time to find a tree with holes or make a nest for it, I'm leaving soon. I'm not sure if it will survive but I'll try my best...

thanks so much! I found a baby mockingbird and followed your directions to make the makeshift nest out of a hanging pot. I put the baby in and the parents came back and were feeding it! Yay! thanks so much! (I couldn't find the original nest)
So unfortunately the baby was dead this morning, so I guess it was too cold? or the next wasn't right or something. Sad.

    Hi!
Thank you sooo much for this post! I found a fallen nest today, put the chicks back in it and put it back on the ledge. I’m worried it will fall again.
Long story short it was under our deck and a rotted board. My dog pulled it up and moved the nest. I’ve covered it so my dog can’t get to it, but should I hang a planter on the post and put the nest in there for security?! I’m worried it will fall again.
Please advise so hopefully these chicks and mama can reunite safely. ♥️

I live in a second level apartment and took my Ac unit out to find a nest underneath with featherless chicks in a nest.
How they managed to make a nest right under my AC, i don't know.
But summer's are hot here, and I just removed their shade. Not sure what to do.
    Please advise.

We had a heavy storm last night that knocked over a lot of fences and heavy trees, found a baby dove on top of our trash can when I went out. The mother was with it and I quickly found this video but the only thing I could find was an old bucket. And I couldn’t hang it, so I decided to leave it right under where the original nest was seeing as it’s in pieces and scattered on the branches overhead. Also, I put two heavy rocks on the bottom of the bucket so it wouldn't get knocked over then layered it with as much dry material as I could find given everything was still wet. Now waiting to see if the mother returns seeing as I unintentionally scared her off when I walked by and again when I tried to help.

Just found a baby bird near my garden. Mama (i believe a brown thrasher) was in the tree above chirping and hopping from branch to branch freaking out. I got a bowl and poked holes in it incase of heavy rain, filled it with some small twigs and dry grass. Placed baby inside then secured it into the tree. Mama immediately stopped squeaking and flew over to investigate as soon as i walked away. It got dark out but will check on it in the morning. Really hoping baby fledgling will be ok!

Well, it’s September. Most birds are migrating to the south now, my friends found a bird that fell out of a 10 foot tree. Luckily it lived. We gave it food, water, proper bedding, and shelter. The nest is in my friends garage because his grandma won’t allow it to be in the actual house. The food was homemade extra protein dog kibble bird food, with some grass seeds. And it drinks out of an Aquafina bottle cap. It has feathers, but still can’t open its eyes yet. But it’s pretty active. Will it live or not? (We live in the northeast and it’s turning September, so it’s mother probably isn’t coming back anytime.)

@@catmomlavender3036 my brother put it back in its nest, the mother was still there, surprisingly. It might be alive, might not, ever since the dove was put into the nest, it went missing.
