He was only ever able to play at 70% capacity at the most when he was at his healthiest so if only a few could stop him at 70% a 100% would be a whole different ball game
@@jefftard9282Lol. Where do you get these figures? Lomu always gave his all. He was one of the best ever seen but saying he only ever performed at 70% is a lie. You don’t get that mass moving at that speed without immense effort.
As an England fan it pains me to watch what he did to the England team. I remember watching the 1995 semi-final and thinking 'we matched them in that game...except for Lomu'. What a player. The greatest, most impactful player of all time.
I like how casual his celebrations were. I imagine this is because he was thinking, "Well, I'm going to score another one soon anyway, so why lose it over one try?" Rest in peace, you warrior.
Especially Tony Underwood. During the week before the 1995 RWC Semi-Final, Underwood spouted to anyone who would listen that he was going to show Lomu how to be a wing. My thought was that Underwood was going to find that difficult when lying flat on his face, watching Lomu run away from him. Which is exactly what happened

He was at the World Cup final in 2015, mingling with fans in one of the bars. Was pleased to be in a photo with him and my son. Sadly he died not long afterwards, probably because his kidney condition was exacerbated by the long flight back to New Zealand.
I didn't know he'd passed away. So sad. Have very fond memories of watching him as a child. Such a humble guy, but once he got going, almost unstoppable. Probably one of the first superstars of the modern game. Even made a competitive try after having a kidney replacement.

He never scored against the Springboks bla bla bla, because he do not want the springboks look bad like a 57- 0 lost, imagine he was playing at that times, then it was 100 - 0...
Also didn't score against Wales. For some reason people don't care as much. Or is it South Africans are far too proud about stopping him and letting Cullen and Wilson walk all over them?
@@SuperDjred1 wasn't there also a report by South African Rugby Management person who said that New Zealand team was actually given poison the night before in their dinner because they wanted to make sure that the Sprinkboks win the game to impress Nelson Mandella and that some of the staff and players were paid to try and stop Lomu at any cost? If that is the case, then the Springboks were nothing more that cheats and should have had the cup taken from them..
Just a pity the anabolic steriods damaged his kidneys and took his life at a very young age. Oh and yes he never managed to score a try against the springboks.
Yeah but while he wasn't scoring any tries, he was drawing in all the defence so Cullen and Wilson scored plenty of tries. Barely says anything about his talent. Just suggests South Africa changed their defencive plan to mainly focus on lomu. And there's no proof he did roids. He had a genetic disease. Not a side effect. Slandering a dead man who was arguably the greatest rugby player who helped transform the game is kinda pathetic
He had the kidney issue during high school he just hid it well until he could no longer hide it. Unfortunately it's a common disease for Islanders and many Tongans get it. My dad even died from the same thing, definitely not drug related. So if your going to slander someone at least sight some facts smh.
never scored against wales aswell. i guess both of those teams were stupid enough to fall for the bait. Jonah lomu drawing the attention while cullen and wilson run all ofver them
Indeed, because they shop in the adjoining islands for stars, while the Springboks have to battle the ANC's race quotas as well. Up to 1994 when the current government took over, the winning margin for Springboks-All Blacks was 60/40!

5 years ago. Jonah Lomu died. He will be remembered as a humble, courageous and respectful man.

He was amazing. I'm English but I named my son after him, after having lived in NZ. My son ow plays rugby and wants to play on the wing.
Such a genius.Yet so so so humble . Legend

RIP GREAT MAN! Still hasn’t been one like you yet.👏🏼👏🏼
You just can't watch this guy without a smile on your face. Unless you're Mike Catt of course.
Mike Catt still laughs about being run over multiple times, I think he wears it as a badge of honor
Truly a legend of the game, miss him
He changed rugby.Tragic loss.✊❤️

Not really successful against the Springboks - they read him like a book
Looks like the All blacks have read the springboks like a book for the last 24 years.
