    - About Dr. Mary Claire Haver and The Galveston Diet -
    Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a passionate women’s health advocate who believes women in midlife deserve to live their best life. She cuts through fat-shaming and fads, so women are empowered with the science behind anti-inflammation nutrition.
    Dr. Mary Claire Haver is a wife, mom, physician, and entrepreneur who has devoted her adult life to women’s health. As a Board-Certified OBGYN in the Houston area, Dr. Haver has delivered thousands of babies, completed thousands of well-woman exams, counseled patients, taught residents, and did everything an academic professor and OBGYN could do.
    As her patient population aged, Dr. Haver was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn't until she experienced the changes of menopause and mid-life weight gain that she realized this advice doesn't work and ultimately led to her creating and developing a new program, The Galveston Diet.
    The Galveston Diet is the first and only nutrition program created by a Female OBGYN, designed for women in menopause. The Galveston Diet helps women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition. Dr. Haver believes in food's power to combat inflammation and highly recommends the unlimited benefits of intermittent fasting. As part of her ongoing research, she became certified in Culinary Medicine in 2019, specializing in medical nutrition.

    I just want to run this by everyone. In the spring, I went to a new doctor. I told her I was taking 3,000 mg d3 a day. She told me that was too much and that it was going to kill me and stop my heart. She said this to me as she was reading the results of my bloodwork and she had forgotten to include my D level in it. I guess I'm not going back to her.

    • @alabaster193
      @alabaster193 8 місяців тому +6

      @@peacepocket I thought it was too low. I did finally get my D level and it's 34.6 That is deemed sufficient according to the chart on my results. It runs from 30 - 100. I personally think it's low. I asked my sleep doctor who is also a pulmonologist what a good amount of D supplementation is. His reply was and I quote "I'm sorry but I'm not an expert on vitamin levels". I was like ok... We all know how important D is for the lungs especially since Covid hit. He had me floored with that answer. How can a pulmonologist be ignorant about vitamin D? I think they want us all to get or stay ill. I don't think answering me would have put him at risk for malpractice. Where are all the real doctors? smh

    This is just for balance. I want to let younger women know that I, my friends, along with the 5 over 50 yr.old women I work with have, save for the odd hot flush, not had any problems, it’s not something we need to talk about. I feel liberated after 40 years of periods! I know some women suffer but you never hear stories from women who didn’t. As one eminent in the field female Dr said- if you think your menopause is going to be awful it will be. She then disputed a lot of what our menopausal celebs were saying.

      @aafgahfah D3 is made by our bodies from sunshine, but we don't get the proper amount of sun. It's K2 MK-7 not K1 that's in green vegetables. K2 MK-7 is found in grass-fed dairy, higher in spring time, since fermented food and a couple cheeses. K1 & K2 are very different. K2 has so many benefits especially post menopausal.

    need to figure out what I
    should eat to optimize my nutrition during my eating window. I need to start
    working out again and so for sure I’ll need to step up the protein etc. I was expecting to drop weight fast but I’m only down 6 pounds. I mostly want to lose fat and am hoping this will help. I am 75 and feel like building muscle and losing fat may be impossible. Any advice?

      Just my two cents here if you don’t mind. Magnesium and D3/K are the best in supplement form for our bones. Calcium is better coming from our foods. Leafy green vegetables have lots of calcium. So do things like Nettle tea, sesame seeds, yogurt, etc. I’ve been taking the D3/K in combo form for years. The K helps to put the D in our bones instead of the soft tissues.

      I take liquid Magnesium and Minerals from Rna Reset. (Product called “Remag” and “Remyte”. ) I usually add 1-2 Tbs apple cider vinegar (braggs) with the liquid supplements to a Qt jar of water and ice… and sometimes I add about a 1/4 c of juice to make it more palatable. I just sip throughout the AM.

      The magnesium supplement she recommends is not for sleep. It should be taken in the morning. I bought it and took it at night, recently found that it’s not for sleep- research types of magnesium first. Taught me to research more before buying anything based on her recommendations.

    Really? Why all the supplements? Is it necessary to take all of them supplements? Will they help you live longer, or can you just get all your vitamins and minerals from eating whole natural foods?
