My mother (RIP) was from South Carolina and she made liver and onions often when I was a kid. We do make it slightly different; we don't add scotch bonnet peppers or fresh ginger. I've had the Jamaican style liver and kidneys for breakfast with boil banana and steamed dumpling and yam and it is delicious. Love Deddy's version; it almost looks like steak! Always give thanks to Almighty God for every day amen!!

Yes, my mum's is dark brown to & gravy thick & rich. She adds a beef stock cube & little gravy granules to thicken it up, taste like Grandma's authentic Liver & Kidney from yard.
Looks awesome, i'm from northern Sweden. We eat liver, usually in the fall. stews with smoked pork or just breading slices in flower, salt and pepper, eat it with mashed potatoes, onion gravy and lingonberry jam.

I love liver! I fry up some bacon, flour up my liver (which helps make lots of gravy) to cook in the bacon grease. I use lots of onion. I put the bacon on top of the liver with lots of onion, eat it with rice and fresh spinach. But, I loved the way Deddy prepared it. I wish I could taste his!! GOD Bless.

Oh my, this is a totally new way to cook liver for me, I do it pan fried, onions, mushrooms, green peppers.. no gravy. 3 mins per side and done. But THIS looks amazing! Now I need to try this. Liver is delicious sautéed the way your father is cooking it. Also, lightly floured smothered in brown gravy with grits/rice/provision/food. Your choice. Delicious if you don’t over cook it.

I had liver before, yes! Several times in fact. My father grills them with some onion at the side, maybe throw in some red and paprika if he has it at the side. Absolutely delicious! And speaking of deliciousness, this whole dish looks amazing! : D
Just a little tip for getting that membrane off easier, is to give the liver a few minutes in the freezer (15-20 minutes) depending on your freezer settings, then remove the membrane in one go, Slicing it will be more to form as well😋🔥😋👌Love the way you spice it up! Her voice when she said cornmeal dumpling😂😅😂 I grew up eating and loving it this way...I also love it lightly floured and fried with sauteed onions or the red wine version!
