In Romania, the prices are: 34,500Eu, 36,000Eu and 39,500Eu. I ordered the Sport version in February, it arrived in September and I have already done 6,000km with it and an average consumption of 5l/100km. It's an incredible car, the reaction in the accelerator pedal, the ease with which the brake is dosed, the very good comfort in the conditions where the chassis is rigid and the suspension is exemplary in the turns. A little noisy with summer tires but unexpectedly sharp with winter tires. 410l trunk is not much, but if you know what you want from a car, the Civic is an excellent choice.

@@xandrunull Since September 2023, I have done 18,500 km. Mostly in the city and its surroundings, being a family car, its purpose is to commute from the suburbs to the city center where the schools and offices are. Average consumption 5l/100km, but in the last 8,500km it has a consumption of 4.8l/100km. In extra-urban driving, I recorded a minimum of 3.9l/100km, and a maximum of 5.3l/100km. In the city, I also saw 11l/100km on segments of 300-400m (from one store to another) but as a daily average 4.5l - 5l/100km
Noisy above 90km/h and unbearable after 120km/h. So, the sound insulation below expectations. Problems with the wipers: when it snows very hard, ice and snow accumulates on the axis of the wipers and obstructs the view, quite a lot, at the bottom of the windshield. And because ice accumulates, inside in the same area, the glass steams up a lot. Even with the ventilation directed exclusively at the windshield, from time to time, you have to wipe with a dry cloth. The trunk with the scriptic 410l would be OK, but the hump between the rear wheels spoils your entire suitcase arrangement.
Otherwise, excellent car, comfortable, responsive acceleration in sport mode and easy in Eco. The sound that simulates gear changes but also the small suspensions of traction during brutal accelerations offer very pleasant sensations. Energy recovery is more aggressive in Sport mode than Eco, therefore Sport mode is not recommended for urban use: the accelerator pedal is too responsive in congested traffic and the energy recovery system, as I said, is too aggressive. That's why you will have a laugh full of shocks. The interior quality and ergonomics are very good. With the summer tires, it is, in my opinion, a bit too "stuck" on its trajectory, you have to put in some effort to change direction, but once on the trajectory it is like a train on the railway tracks. Probably due to the semi-performance stock tires. Even the winter ones do not disappoint, which I bought a little narrower and with a higher heel. I did this to slightly reduce the novel noise, because the roads are not among the best, but also because the suspension is a little stiff. And if we're still talking about rigidity, let's tackle the seats...just the same, slightly hard. The lumbar support doesn't delight me, it pushes my spine forward and it's disturbing. This may depend on the conformation of each user. It compensates for the heating in the seats which is well adjusted for the 3 intensity levels.
Conclusion...I feel good with this Civic. I like that it has two sides: a calm city and family car and an aggressive one only good for playing on the winding mountain roads where the steering, the tires and the engine torque are always and when you need it.

I waited for my U.K. spec. blue Advance for a full year. After having various powerful Merc’s and BMWs (last car was a M340i), the Civic really is the best engineered and built car I’ve had. A few things let it down (lack of tech. e.g. not even sat nav rerouting due to traffic nor a smartphone app), the inability to switch off the fake engine noise in Sport mode plus the ridiculously noisy sunroof when it’s open, but overall it genuinely drives as well with a better ride than my M340i that I no longer needed because I am now retired at 58 and the car sits in my garage more of the time so spending so much on a replacement M340i just wasn’t worth it.

In the UK a top spec with metallic is £40k+ so you are hit with additional tax plus long delivery times when I was looking two months ago. Instead I purchased a Skoda Superb (knobs and dials hence why I chose this rather than the Octavia) tdi - saved £10,000. Sorry Honda, been an owner many times in the past but you have lost the plot - no UK manufacturing and prices, for all the new models, are just too high, a real shame.

If you spec the Advance in Sonic grey pearl- the best colour option IMO. It's then sits under the 40k tax bracket. Then you can add the ducktail spoiler and mats on a separate invoice- still allowing you to avoid the silly extra tax. Agreed, Honda did originally price this better when it was released. Due to product costs for this new drive system, has hit Honda hard in this current economic climate. It's a shame the global economy has out priced a good car. I managed to screw my Stealership back to July prices, I paid 36k for Advance in Sonic grey pearl. Got a 5 year service plan with £700 chucked in foc. Dealers are willing to deal. Your praise for the Civic's physical buttons are absolutely spot-on. Having driven the Civic Ehev, I'd take it over the current "screenfest-assault" Golf every day of the week. Shame. I used to love Golfs.
But why did I not buy the Civic and went for a BMW 128ti instead? Because I was quoted almost a year's delivery time for one and I was nervous about what this would do to my part-exchange value. But had the wait been more reasonable, I would probably have gone for it. The BMW 1 series is slightly easier to use because in addition to the physical buttons it also has the i-Drive control for the screen, so you're not jabbing at a touchscreen when you're on the move. But the Civic's economy is on another level to the Beemer and having had a Honda before, although the BMW 1 series' materials inside are of a slightly better quality, the Civic is probably screwed together slightly better. And it perhaps illustrates how pricey the Civic is when I was able to buy a 128ti BMW 1 series for the same price!

    • @ln5747
      @ln5747 6 місяців тому

The 128ti is a much different car though, driven one and it's a hoot. Was that a new 128ti the same price?

    • @leewilcox4044

Yes. List price for top of the range Civic and the BMW 128ti around £37k before options. Both quick, similar room inside front and back. Both have excellent quality interiors. Both handle very well. Apart from the hybrid trickery they're quite similar. Obviously economy with the Civic is much much better, but if your mileage is low, that may not be so critical. Both very capable cars.
But get a BMW 128ti quick if you're thinking about it, because BMW are about to ruin the next gen 1 series by removing the i-Drive control wheel, which avoids having to use a touch screen on the move, AND removing all buttons for heating and the ICE and putting everything through the touchscreen. When VW were so vilified for this, I just do not understand BMW getting rid of one of their strongest selling points. They've done the same to Mini too. BMW you are complete idiots for doing this. @@ln5747

Yes, it's the same price because the UK isn't a complete welfare/nanny state where you are begrudged for buying a slightly more powerful car like it is in this kip over here. With the tax on cars in our potato land, you'd think we'd have a public transport system that would rival best European systems, but instead we have smelly buses and two trams. What a shame.

    • @Nickrii
      @Nickrii 5 місяців тому +1

That's interesting. In Germany there's a huge price gap between a 128ti and a Civic. A Civic Sport nowadays goes for 41k EUR while a similarly spec'd 120i (!) goes for 49k EUR. The 128i easily breaks the 50k barrier here. For us it was a no-brainer to go with the Civic, especially since we got it last year for 20% less with the old 2023 price list. Lucky for us, the dealer still had a new one in his show room, so we didn't have to wait. That being said, the BMW is a nice car with a premium feel and as such made it onto our shortlist as well.

I’m not usually a fan of red cars, UNLESS they’re metallic red, preferably a metallic wine red. Unfortunately, red Civics in North America are a flat red, not metallic. I don’t usually care for gray either but my Civic’s gray has a subtle sparkle and seems to have a slight blue undertone to it which is just beautiful.
Honda really knocked it out of the park with the 11th generation Civic. They went back to their design roots. I love the understated, polished exterior paired with the semi-luxury interior. It’s a beautiful car and I’m super happy with it.
My Civic Touring sedan was $31.6K USD, $35K out the door. Definitely pricey for a Civic!

I ordered mine for about 40k Euro and now waiting to be delivered in their dealership, which will happen in June 2024.
Few things you didn't get right in your review and its important to mention:
    - There is no gearbox. The sound you hear changing gears is purely artificial - that is one huge component less that you have to worry about when maintaining the car in the future.
    - The pedals behind the steering wheel are actually to adjust the break regeneration strength and has nothing to do with changing gears.

As a second comparison - with the Lexus ES - the refinement level of the ES is on another level and a new one is 5 grand more than the Civic, but it is worth the price difference.

I suspect Honda is taking a global view of the Civic this time round. All are Japan-made (at least for the EU), the factory ‘builds for real orders’, they make money on every car and they’re running at a capacity which is efficient for the factory and supply chain. Plus it’s a design format which is now ‘niche’ - unfortunately. Honda prospers from crossovers and a general ‘mix’. So, I don’t think they’re unduly bothered about being priced out by others like Skoda or Kia/Hyundai on a now ‘niche’ model. Welcome to 2023 & Beyond 😢….

(Even if it was "only" mild hybrid and manual first with an optional automatic, for whatever reason, like the Mazda 3 and of course cheaper, it wouldn't really be a problem!)
Even if this version has to exist, for those that want it, in this "day and age", Honda really should still be selling "normal", manual petrol, non hybrid models in the €25,000-40,000 range, not starting them around €50,000! 😯😂 .
I've never been the biggest fan of the Civic, but I rather like the outgoing generation - it was ALMOST saloon* and still pretty normal 😯😀🤘 .
*Which they should still sell here as they indeed do in other markets, but even then, I don't like the fact it has a turbo and prefer the naturally aspirated Mazda 3 and 6 (while of course the 6 should still be on sale, when it is in other markets!) 😀 .

You clearly are not up to date with the already problematic short history of this generation for Europe:
Chip shortage in general and problems with parts suppliers and logitics in Japan specially.
Those, and especially the first, are the main reasons why they hardly sold any of these in Europe.
The newer SUVs from Honda are all made in China and elswhere but Japan, and they are already hitting the streets of Europe and you dont have to wait more than a year.
The hybrid Civic is EXCLUSIVELY made in Japan, and the specific problems mentioned above hit Honda Japan hard, and the Civic model specifically.
I have been waiting for 14 months now, with no real perspective on delivery.
Main thing that keeps me waiting is, fantastic car, not urgent (obviously) and the price.
When I ordered back in november 2022!!! the price was 37.000 euro for the top trim!!!, thats 13K less than what you mentioned in the video for a top trim in Ireland nowadays....

I can tell you why I didn't get the Civic even if I think it's a good car: First of all, it's expensive. The base trim level is 35000 euro, that is basically 10 000 euro more than the last generatin with the 1.5 180 ps engine. Then there is the nonsense trims: you don't get the heated steering wheel for 35000 euro, you only get it in the higher trims. Basically, if you want heated steering wheel, you have to pay 42000 euro for the top trim. Now the problem is that the top trim has a panoramic roof. I don't like that. After that, the petrol tank is 40 liters, which is small. The load capacity is about 150kg lower compared to the last generation or the current i30. This is why I will, most likely, get the Hyundai i30 which is about 21000 euro. And it has heated steering wheel. An a manual. And 160 ps. And a 50 liter tank.

From watching all the reviews seems the car is fantastic. Love the grown up looks too, and would buy it if it was lower than 35k. But at 50? Civic now goes head to head with wayyyyyy more competition, and many of them are just as good or better.
    Honda wtf where you smoking????

1st too expensive 2nd way too long (for Switzerland with narrow parking slots) 3rd seating position waaaay too low esp. for elder people. Eventually you want comfort and not sport.
