As a filipino here is what I have to say about this. There is no denying that there is racism between EA (korea,Japan,China) and SEA(Filipino,Malay,Thai,Viet,Indo,etc.). I feel like this definitely needs to be acknowledged. There is a reason why it a very common stereotype that EA look down on SEA. No I am not saying SEA cannot be racist too, nor am I saying that all EA are racist. I have met many good Koreans, and I have met many good Filipinos. Likewise, I have witnessed actions of ignorant Koreans and ignorant Filipinos. I just notice that it is much more common for EA to be racist towards SEA. I remember on Korean show Hello Counselor, the guest of the show that day found it insulting how people thought he was Filipino/SEA. Whereas most of the time on Filipino media, Filipinos are enjoying and are respectful of the korean culture. Another issue I want to address is how us Filipinos can also be racist. I have seen it on some occasions. I want to acknowledge that because we have our issues with racism as well. My friend who is half Filipino and half black has been called so many racial slurs and was bullied. I know not all Filipinos are racist, just as not all Koreans are racist. There is good and bad in every country. I also would like apologize on behalf of the Filipinos who bashed Koreans as a whole and innocent Koreans. Many people are so focused on the comments made by ignorant Koreans, but let us NOT ignore the many sincere apologies from Koreans as well. Let’s move forward and #CancelRacism #CancelToxicity I hope for the future all of us Asians unite and learn to respect each other...

ahhh finally someone reasonable! as a Korean person, I appreciate your comment and want to say sorry too, there are many ignorant Koreans who say hateful stuffs against SEA shamelessly, on the internet, I've never known our citizens teared apart your flag it really breaks my heart, but I've also seen so many SEA people saying "all Koreans are racists, they think they look better than us but in fact they're just plastic surgeried", and also mocking and distorting even our culture and history that has nothing to do with it, but actually yeah it is our fault for starting it, she had no idea of what she had done and she didn't need to know Korean history, we only need to taught her that if we were offended, the violence and hate was so wrong, we both need to stop this, stop the hate, it all started from misunderstanding.

I was really hurt by comments such as "slave country" "poor people come work for our country"
Family parents have to be a slave doing all the dirty jobs people wouldn't take in other countries (cleaning toilet, garbage collector and whatnot). It doesn't even pay much but some are still abused and tricked Filipinos. Families are precious, calling Filipinos poor and slave is also mocking all those hardship just to get a food on the plate.
Anyways I hope we both learn our lessons. Don't step on Filipinos hardwork and Respect Korean's sentiments.

we can't just say "hey forgive them, you were just being colonized for 35 years while we (Philippines) is battling for more than 500years for our freedom in the hands of different countries, so you should just forgive them" they are not US they have different views, opinions and perspective about that. But for those people who keep belittleling us should also know that WE WERE ALSO COLONIZED AND BEEN FIGHTING FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS FOR OUR FREEDOM COMPARE TO YOUR 35YEARS but we did not hold grudges because our ancestors were born forgivable and our generation inherit that kindness, they thought us to embrace our enemies and forgive those who hurt us but they also teach us NOT to forget that because that's our history and that should always be remembered, we will stand against anyone who will understamated and degraded our nations! I know it is not on how long you were colonized but it's all about how hurt and traumatize your ancestors are. Let's end this with Peace and not Hate everyone. The real issue is:
Many Koreans are indeed racists and feel mighty superior than "poor" countries. Why the hell do Koreans care about a tattoo on a Filipina who doesn't live in their land who made no remark to insult their country? The tattoo was not directed at you--so why comment? If you can't get over your past--while we did, that's your damn problem. I have seen this symbol many times as tattoo. So why comment now on this specific girl?
I have Korean friends and yes they're different. But the truth is, racism exists everywhere, and when you direct this to Filipinos, damn, you just tread where angels fear to go. I am not apologetic about Filipinos reacting passionately about it because Filipinos love this country even if it's twisted and imperfect. So to Korea, we forgive but the scar is there.

Its like getting a tattoo of a Swastika. The person who got it might not be German, or religious, or even know what it is. But the tattoo would still hurt people no matter what country they live in, no matter what its purpose was, no matter if the person didn't know what it was.

I only got to know about this issue thru the posts of my students (jhs) and glad to see their reactions in a mature way. It could be because most of them are supporters of the kpop idols and they are considering that aspect that is why they do not generalize all the koreans. They dont go for cancel korea instead they go for the "apologize" aspect because they dont want to ruin the friendship that was already formed between the 2 countries. Those "rude koreans or netizens do not represent all of korea. So let us move on and spread more love not hatred. Stop racism! This is what everyone should cry for. South Korea: We suffered a lot under Japanese invasion. >:(
Philippines: We also experience that but we are still promoting Japanese culture as a sign of friendship. :)
    Philippines was colonized by:
    Spanish - 300+ years
    America - 48 years
    Japan - 3 years
And Philippine people still gives a fair treatment for everyone, they continue being hospitable, and nice to Foreigners. We should be matured, spreading peace is more better than spreading hate and racism.
    FACT no1:
The former president of south Korea, Park Chung-Hee. He was high rank military officer of imperial Japanese army.
    FACT no2:
Hong Sa-ik (Korean) was class A war criminal and one of highest ranking general in the imperial Japanese army stationed in Philippines. He was the one causing massive suffering for Filipinos during WW2.
    FACT no3:
There were 240,000 Korean soldiers (including 9 Korean generals. Yes NINE, 9 Korean generals) in the imperial Japanese army.
    FACT no4:
The only Korean who actually fought for Korean independence was Kim il sung. Yes the founding father of North Korea. Yeah! That North Korea.
History is funny like that. Things aren't black and white. History is full of ugly shades of grey! Most Japanese soldiers were good and decent men who were inhumanely brainwashed and forced to fight for an evil regime and just followed orders! A lot of Korean conscripts in the Imperial Army during the Second Sino Japanese War and World War 2 were sadistic and brutal murderers yet they don't represent most Korean conscripts in World War 2! As a Korean myself I want to tell my fellow Asians in the Philippines that I love you all just as I love my fellow Asians in China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and even North Korea. I hope we can all stop with this divide between out people's and that Korea can one day be reunited.

For a certain race that hates Japanese people, they sure enjoy making tour every year to perform kpop in Japan for their Japanese fans. And they even embrace the Japanese language. Wow what a way for them to hate the Japanese people. Just because a few of the countrymen feel the same way, doesn't mean they can speak for the rest of the country. You make it sound like Japanese people are harsh. Those people you are taking about may have passed away by now or nearly dead. The new generation has nothing to do with their ancestors' actions. Have you ever thought about that? Have you been to Japan lately? Japanese people of today are actually well disciplined. A little too well disciplined actually, very respectful and well mannered. If I compare them to a certain race, you might get embarrassed.

      Hi, Japanese person here.
Korean sales in Japan have plunged an eye popping -500% since July 2019.
      Why? May you ask.
Because we are tired of arrogant Koreans, who even installed a statue of our Prime Minister begging on his knees. This is infuriating. We have apologised and sent money to them 7 times in the past.
So in July 2019 we launched the first #CancelKorea movement.

USA genocided over 80-114 million Native Americans and enslaved Africans among many other atrocities and war crimes: This flag is fine with Koreans even though the Koreans themselves engaged in many atrocities and war crimes in the Vietnam War.
Japan's Rising Sun Flag was used decades before World War 2 and has an entirely different meaning than the Nazi swastika since that flag was only used by Hitler and the Nazis. The Rising Sun flag was used by Japanese soldiers in the Russo Japanese War and during World War 1 when Japan was allied with the Allied powers against Imperial Germany.
As a Korean man myself I love Japan and Japanese people. I find it disgusting that South Korea condemn Japan for not apologizing for comfort women and war crimes yet still hasn't apologized to Vietnam. Also Korean conscripts were also in the Imperial Army in WW2 and committed unspeakable atrocities like bayoneting babies in the Philippines and raping women and little girls. Yet Filipinos chose to forgive Korean conscripts along with Japanese soldiers.
I'm ashamed to be Korean because of my people's hypocrisy and double standards towards Japan and the horrible racism towards South Asians like Filipinos and Indonesians. The way South Korea dodges and avoids their war crimes and atrocities during the Vietnam War and all the mass rapes that took place makes me wish I was not Korean. I would rather be Filipino or even Japanese because the Japanese had also suffered during World War 2. The USA incinerated two of Japan's cities and over 200,000 Japanese civilians were were incinerated and that's not even the worst and horrifying part but you can find details of the horrors Japanese people who survived went through and saw and yet Japanese people do not hold any resentment and hatred towards the USA and become an advocate for disarming nuclear weapons because Japan personally is the only country in history so far where nuclear weapons had been used.

Very well said Kristy! I apologized for the discrimination of those peeps that bullied you not just as Filipino but as a normal human being, because nobody deserves that. I hope that this event will be a lesson to a lot of people, celebrities or not we must keep an open mind and understand the differences in culture so we can empathize rather than criticize.
Kudos Kristy... 🤗💜 All the best and more power!

The relationship between the Korea and Philippines is really great now, forgetting the past, forgiving one another and so fort. with this, we must also forgive each other, we are now in a new generation, we cannot move forward if we cannot forgive; as the Lord forgive and remembering not our sins anymore, so we must do the same... SPREAD love... Thank you Miss Eunsaem Cho!
