These words, coming from a man who's family was murdered by Japanese during the Battle of Manila. I think it was this time when relationship between Japan and Philippines started healing. As of today, the relationship between the two countries are going strong. In 2016, Japan built a stone memorial for President Quirino in honor of his deeds. It stands at Hibiya park in Tokyo, the same park where the stone memorial of Jose Rizal was erected.
It made me cry about this information from our late president quirino.. We have hatred before to Japanese but we move forward and forgive then but we don't forget..
one trait that can be seen as a double edged sword of pinoys is that we live in the present. we do not dwell in the negativity of our history. this is both good and bad because there's a tendency that we miss what our past can teach us, hence mistakes of the past can repeat or have been repeating. Not a Filipino but Indonesian, my grandfather lived through Japanese occupation and fought in the Dutch-Indonesian war, and he never held a grudge against the Japanese or Dutch. I think I speak for most South East Asians when I say that we really don't care. To us, it's in the past, it should be remembered but the men who did it are all dead or old so why bother holding a grudge. My grandfather would even get mad at us when we would blame the Dutch or Japanese, he would always say that you didn't live through what him and his generation did so you don't have a right to be mad. I think many people in other countries nowadays should think this way, it is useless to hold grudges for what your grandparents or greatgrandparents did so many years ago.

There's this story in our family that my great-great-grandmother helped out a Japanese general when he was caught in a pinch at war. That general was not like the other soldiers back then, and was actually trying to help the civilians not to get caught up, inspite of orders. To thank her, he gave her his katana to help her defend herself if anything were to happen. And to this day, that katana became one of our family heirlooms.
My grandpa lost his parents to the Japanese during the colonization era, the weight never passed down to him. He loves to go touring in Japan, and never carried any hatred, even as the first generation. I love Japan too, I'm always baffled at how stubborn people back home can be (im a korean living elsewhere as an expat) Honestly, I forgot about all the hatred they share. I had multiple Philippine History professors who said that whenever they had japanese exchange students, those students always end up crying when they learn about the Philippines' history under the Japanese occupation because like what the lady in the video said, it isn't really discussed in Japan because they want to focus on their glory. Unfortunately, from what I've learned in several videos as well about Japan, the younger generation don't really talk about WWII in their history class. In a way, it was "brushed off." Their knowledge of war would be more about shogunates, samurais, and Shinsengumi-but again, not a lot. The older generation would have a bit more knowledge-some from personal experience, and some that were able to learn it in school when it was taught for a brief period. Not sure how that went down, but I'd hazard a guess in thinking that it puts Japan in a heroic point of view, and then playing victim, rather than them being in the wrong.
The fact that most Japanese aren't aware of their history is one of the reasons why other countries are angry, but yeah, everytime I meet a Japanese and end up talking about what our country been through under their occupation they apologize sincerely.

I get jealous when i see the rich culture and history of other countries especially SEA countries with their temples and ancient cities. If our culture, history, cities and indigenous people were not destroyed and enslaved how rich our history could it be? How different our national identity could be? How far of a progress could we gave reached? We will never know since "winners" or the stronger countries write history and pass on their legacy (even the corrupt structure of their govt). As a Filipino I believe that Japanese people have a kind heart because even tho you didn't commit the sin you still apologized. I'm Japanese and haven't met any Filipinos but I know for a fact that they are nice and welcoming people, same with Korean although I was bullied when I used to live in Korea, but there are also nice ones who defended me, so we should not take a group of people's point of view and apply it to the whole nation or country :)

my great grandfather fought during the war in the provinces. after the war he would tell stories he killed a shit ton of japanese. And then after the war, some guy from the Japanese government, not sure if he was an ambassador or not, came to his house and gave him a formal apology, and a sakura tree as a peace offering. He accepted, the peace offering and until this day the sakura tree is one of the only trees in my city
My grandfather was a Japanese soldier he told me that he killed a sh1t ton of filipinos in the provinces. And after the war he became a politician and went to say sorry to a guy that killed a shit ton of filipinos and gave him sakura trees.
I'm dying to see the day where Korea and Japan finally solve the conflict. I'm a Korean, lived most of my life as an expat, love to Japan. I love their culture anime and food, I'm pretty sure I had sushi 3 times last week 😍 My grandpa lost his parents to the Japanese but he still likes Japan and toured several times, and I hope that I get to visit some day too. Probably the scar that they left in Filipinos will never be removed but slowly and surely, time really heals everything. All these years, Japan showed us that they are true to their intention of asking forgiveness. Japan is not stealing Philippine Islands. Japan is not sending drug lords in the Philippines. Japan is sharing their technology with the Philippines. They are funding Philippine government projects with “reasonable” agreement, Japanese people are honest and polite.

Davao is the "Little Tokyo" during the Japanese occupation. My great grandmother served the Japanese as their househelp. I am not sure if she was a victim of being a "comfort women" which she bare a child from a Japanese Military Officer. After the war, She was left by a piece of land to till and a child to raise. The child never registered or has a birth certificate. My great grandmother was single parent then. As the child grow up becoming adult, she finally have the courage to go to Japan to know and find her father. When she found her father at the shrine cemetery outside Tokyo. She had known that her father has another family. She had met them. She was happy and forgiving. Then on, she moved to Zurich to start a family. Until now, she is proud being a Filipina-Japanese. She is my grandmother, mother of my mother. 😊

If japan didn’t intervene, forced conscription and plundering would be a regular sight. Not to say, in their recapture , they used Filipino guerillas and lowered their own casualties. I am beg to disagree to what the other girl said that why Filipino's arent aware of the issues about Japan is that we are uneducated about it. During the first half of the 20th century, Korea was under Japan. A lot of Korean men were conscripted in the Japanese Imperial Army. Philippines was invaded and occupied by Japan. You have heard of Asian comfort women. I am willing to bet the "Japanese" soldiers who raped countless Filipinas and fathered a lot of children in the Philippines were actually Korean men serving in the Japanese Imperial Army. If anybody would care and do an ancestry check, they can ascertain DNA is indeed Korean.

On number 5: There are actually tales that the Koreans were more vicious to Filipinos during the Japanese occupation.I don't know if it's true or not but I heard it from my mom who heard from her parents, grandparents,older gen who survived WW2 that the Korean soldiers were the ones who bayoneted babies. What surprised me is, I've seen comments here that have similar stories but we are from various places in the country.
@@sanshirada1119 that is partly true. Whether those korean soldiers were forced or not, it will never change the fact that they caused a harm to our fellow Filipinos. My mom also told me before how they hide at their old house when they were young and to see their aunt stabbed by those soldiers. Laughing and making kidnapped Filipino women do disgusting things. But yeah, we forgive but we do not forget. Living in the past is so tiring right? No one will grow and it will continue to the next generations if we put hatred in our heart.

I asked my Lolo about it and he just replied, "Ah it was war. The time was different." He would not really expound it well. Yes, we couldn't forget...we should not forget. @@mylove_78 I think Korea was part of Japan that time. I read from some that they volunteered in the Japanese army. After the war, some Japanese prisoners of war were sent back. And there was a Korean officer was executed for war crimes to the Filipinos. I need to get back at that comment where he named an author of a study or a book about it. There are not really substantial proofs about the rumors of Koreans being more vicious because their population in the army was few. But they could not discredit the rumors because of the witnesses during the time. Tbh, I just heard about it from my mom who heard it from her family and neighbors but I did not really mind about it. That's why I'm pretty surprised to see comments here from various people in different Ph places with similar stories. But, well...we cannot hate the new gen for what their ancestors did to ours. I had a Japanese friend who visited once and while visiting some historical sites in Manila, he bowed down to me saying sorry many times for all the things his country did. I in turn bowed down together with him and also said sorry but all that is in the past. I heard that during world war 2 there was this Japanese soldier guy was very nice to this village and they were treated him as their hero bc of what he did in their town, it was like he protected them from the war and brought peace and order in that village. I think Filipinos tend to give attention more on the positive sides. We never forget what they've done to us, even the America's betrayal and Spain during the world wars, but we never hold grudges that much. Filipinos tend to live in the present and look in the future. Philippines and Filipinos are welcoming, friendly, and diplomatic in a sense.

Same. According to my grandma, the Japanese soldiers occupying Davao were polite. I remember her telling us a story that she was even escorted by a Japanese Captain/General back to her hometown in Davao Oriental.
My great grandfather who was part of a filipino guerilla force against the japanese said that some of the japanese soldiers that they encountered are actually quite nice, some can even spoke a little english and tried to learn the language. Eventually they died anyways since they're enemies at that time
I heard and read similar story about some Japanese here in my region, eastern Visayas. A Japanese soldier (I think he had a high rank) helped a town/city (I'm not sure where) in agriculture and economy. If I still remembered it right, the people on that place made a memorial of that soldier.

Koreans have a different attitude towards Japanese because Japan treats Koreans specifically as a go-to hate target today. Korea is the go-to external enemy in their current politics. Anti-K0rean racism is a lucrative business, as they make best sellers as books. There're sections dedicated for anti-K0rean books in normal Japanese bookstores. They make street parades with slogans such as "R11ape K0rean w0men", "K0reans are c0ckroaches", "K0reans are garbage", while using a military flag (Rising Sun Flag) as a symbol of hate, and a symbol of nostalgia towards the Imperialist era. None of the acts above are reciprocated by K0reans. There is no such thing is, anti-Japanese hate parades in Korea. Nor bookstore sections dedicated to anti-Japanese books. When a Japanese politician expresses a favourable or apologetic attitude towards K0reans, his/her popularity drops immediately and gets hate from Japanese citizens. It is a common testimony among Koreans who lived in Japan that they got bullied in a clearly racist fashion. Nostalgia towards the Imperialist era is common among normal Japanese, it is not exclusive among so-called right wingers. And the hate does not only stop as hate, but actual actions to undermine whatever Koreans do. In Korea, we learn what Japan did to Korea in school, which naturally brings our hatred toward Japan(obviously not everyone and some Koreans love Japan). As a Korean, I am surprised how open-minded Philippines are toward Japan, although knowing they were colonized in the past. And seeing these younger generations forgiving it(not sure about the old generations of Philippines) makes me really wanting to reflect on the Philippines open-minded attitude. As a Filipino, yes we were colonized by Japan but our elders (those who are still alive) mainly remembers the Spanish time when talking about colonization here. We were only colonized for 3years by Japan and 333 years by Spain. By the time we were colonized by Japan, we got help from US with General Douglas MacArthur (honored by the Philippines) thus having Japan surrendered to us with the Guerilla campaign like a resistance group. You say open minded young generations? Yeah a little bit but mainly we are open minded because our ancestors taught us to be kind and forgiving. It is not only us the young generation, but also our forefathers. Just want to share this to you, there was a man named Elpidio Quirino in the Philippines and during Japan and US war here, his wife and 3 of his children were ones of those hundred thousands who were killed. He was pretty mad but then 8 years later he became a president in the Republic of the Philippines. And you know what he did? He pardoned all the Japanese war criminals and sent them home to Japan despite his own family killed during the war. Then he said, “I have granted pardons so that hatred against the Japanese will not remain among my descendants and the Filipino people.” And that's when I think Filipinos started to forgive others, not just our minds that were opened but our hearts also. That is why we could be able to love foreigners equally despite those colonizations. Our attitudes helped us get through the darkness we experienced. Be polite, kind, loving, and forgiving. His words came true. The hatred against Japanese or any other nations were not normalized. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Philippines will always be that hospitable and forgiving country you'll ever see. And because of that, Japan honoured him by building a memorial of Elpidio Quirino in Tokyo. He was hurt, he had seen Japan as an enemy, but as a Filipino and an individual, he showed that true winning is forgiving and he does not want the Filipinos to live a life resenting others. For me, a lot of old people I know only see Japan as tourist/economic powerhouse(some even know some comfort women personally), though they don't like the past, they don't really mind it that much. I also always remember what my Mom said to me: "Pagbigyan mo lahat ng nakasakit sayo bago matapos ang araw" or something like that (TL: Forgive those who hurt you before the sun sets.) It's hard to do but it makes me happier and lets me carry less burden.
My grandfather often told told stories about ww2 about his father tortured, cannibalism,etc. But he never showed hatred in telling the stories. I didn't feel anything that will make me hate japan instead i felt how a war is brutal and scary thus should not be repeated in history. Even in buying things he would recommend products from germany/japan cause they tend to last longer even though he lived during the war..

In Bohol, specifically in the mountainous area where my late grandpa owns a lot of land plots, I was told by my late grandma that during the Japanese time, women in that area dived into mud-filled holes and made sure that they wont be recognized as living things, waiting for the Japanese soldiers to pass by. This is a very interesting conversation and I find it to be from my own experience. I'm a Filipino American who emigrated to the US as a teen and ended up marrying a Japanese American and I was asked once in college by an Asian grad student how my family felt about that. I was taken aback. It never occurred to me that there would even be an issue just because my boyfriend (now husband) is of Japanese descent. This is even knowing and hearing stories from my grandparents regarding their experiences during the Japanese invasion. They talked about their experience as fact with no commentaries on hatred towards the Japanese people. My grandpa was a POW during the war but he also befriended one of the guards. My grandma talked about how she and her sisters painted charcoal on their faces to avoid getting raped. I'm sure they were scared but she never said anything bad about the Japanese people. Mind you, my grandpa was very pro US and saw them as a saviors. He used to quote General McArthur all the time. In spite these stories, I got the impression as a child that it was war and it's what the Japanese gov't did and not the people who were in Japan who never took part on any brutalities that happened. So meeting my husband who was a 4th generation Japanese American who's families experienced their own injustice here in the US (my in-laws were in concentration camps during WWWII as children) I never connected him to Japan who invaded the Philippines. The sins of Japan was now his to bear.

Koreans are willing to forgive, forget and move on. Their only requirement is for the Japanese government to admit all the atrocities it did to Koreans and ask forgiveness. But the Japanese government never gave the "sorry" that the Koreans deserve. They even try to evade from their atrocities by portraying their crimes as acts of heroism in their history books. They never admitted their war crimes. How would you forgive and forget if someone raped you and massacred your family, and that person denied all of it. He is living peacefully and happily while you are living in grief and still hoping for justice throughout your life.

My grandmother once told me that the Japanese armies aren't bad at all, she used to bow down and say "ohio" on Japanese armies a way of showing them respect. Japanese armies were giving her candies lots of lots of them that she could able to share it with her friends. Maybe the armies missed their children that time so they treat my grandmother like their child.

I'm half Filipino and half Japanese. I was raised in Japan and went to American schools, so I'm sorry to say I can't speak Filipino. But I'm never had problems talking to Filipinos because everyone seem to be able to speak English. I like of think of myself, a product of an American serviceman and a Okinawan woman, as living proof that former enemies can let go of the past and come together. I believe every country has its share of racists and that unfortunately is really difficult to fix. But I am of the opinion that Korea unfairly makes judgments on the colonial past using present day moral standards. Further more, the Korean government uses victimhood of the past as political leverage towards Japan. The government s;eem to educate its children with anti-Japanese sentiments which will undoubtedly instill ill will towards Japan and make improving relations between the two countries difficult. Pres. Moon said publicly that Japan is not Korea's ally and yet the Koreans go bonkers when Japan took Korea of the whitelist for ignoring Japan's inquiries about the destination of some sensitive materials that were unaccounted for. Korea had been the only Asian country on the list but now having to go through import/export procedures like the rest of Asia so offended Koreans that they went on a "Boycott Japan" campaign, hurting mostly Korean importers and Korean airlines. Pres. Moon also refused to touch the birthday cake presented by PM Abe. I suspect that any show of friendliness towards Japan would have upset many Koreans at home. I could go on and on and list Japan's attempts at presenting peace offerings but it would be too long here, but in a nutshell the Koreans keep moving the goalpost and have no real interest in resolving issues. It is interesting that Korean sensibility towards this flag didn't come into existence until 21century. It seems the further away in time from the colonial period, Koreans find new ways to suffer the pains of the past. The Korean Government endorsed prostitutes for Americans soldiers during the Korean war. They were called "ianfu" or "comfort women". If at the time the Koreans had the same image of "comfort women" that they present now, 10, 12, 14 year olds taken forcibly from their home, wouldn't they have felt ashamed of using the same term during the Korean war? I'm not saying that there were no women who suffered. But Korean sensibility towards the term "comfort women" also seems to also have been manufactured in the 21 century and the way they present it to the world filtered through a particular narrative. In Korea, questioning that narrative can get you jailed or fined as one Korean historian found out. She wrote a book on comfort women based on her research including interviews with some of the women.. She was taken to court and fined. It was not that anything she wrote was wrong. The claim was that what she wrote offended the comfort women. It looks like the author found some discrepancies in the statement made by some of the former comfort women. Recent scandals in Korea have surfaced that shows groups claiming to support comfort women were actually keeping the most of the money donated for themselves and only using the former comfort women to enrich themselves monetarily and politically. On a side note, I was impressed by Pres. Duterte when he came to Japan. This man, audacious enough to basically give a American president the finger, visibly made efforts to be in best behavior in front of the Emperor of Japan. My Filipino half was proud and my Japanese half grateful.

According to history, Filipinos started forgiving the Japanese when Philippine President Elpidio Quirino started freeing Japanese POW to return to Japan. Don't get me wrong, he was bashed by many Filipinos during that time because of the scars of war, but he simply brushed it off saying "I won't let this hatred be carried in the next generation". 《训民正音》
西元15世纪以前，韩语只有语言没有文字，以汉字为书写工具[1]。由于韩语与汉语是完全不同的语系，使用汉字记录韩语是一件很不容易的事，加之一般百姓不懂得汉文，非常不利于文化的交流与发展[2]。为了解决韩民族书写文字的问题，1443年朝鲜王朝世宗大王组织一批学者创造了适合标记韩语语音的文字体系--韩字。这些文字当时被称作“训民正音”，意为“教老百姓以正确的字音”[2]。1940年发现的《训民正音解例本制字解》（发行于朝鲜世宗28年，1446年）宣称韩字的子音与母音是根据人的口腔构造、中国古来的天地人思想以及阴阳学说而创制出来的。
书中记载如下：
“天地之道，一阴阳五行而已。坤复之间为太极，而动静之后为阴阳。凡有生类在天地之间者，舍阴阳而何之。故人之声音，皆有阴阳之理，顾人不察耳。今正音之作，初非智营而力索，但因其声音而极其理而已。理既不二，则何得不与天地鬼神同其用也。

不过1443年朝鲜世宗命令使用谚文的时候，受到众多使用汉字的朝鲜文人和两班贵族的批评，因为他们认为抛弃汉字就等于失去中国文明，而成为夷狄之邦。崔万里曾说：“自古九州之内，风土虽异，未有因方言而别为文字者。唯蒙古、西夏、女真、日本、西蕃之类，各有其字，是皆夷狄事耳，无足道者。《传》曰：‘用夏变夷，未闻变于夷者也。’历代中国皆以我国有箕子遗风，文物礼乐，比拟中华。今别作谚文，舍中国而自同于夷狄，是所谓弃苏合之香，而取螗螂之丸也；岂非文明之大累哉？”两班贵族反对谚文的另一个原因是因为谚文的传播和普及会威胁到他们对于知识的垄断，进而动摇两班的政治根基。
由于朝鲜文人和贵族的抵制，无法成为官场上普遍使用的文字，因此政府决定也就与汉字并用，其通用范围局限在两班之间的私函、地方官衙或妇女。谚文直到20世纪才被广泛使用。[3]韩文的发明推动了韩国政治、经济、文化的发展，世宗大王也得到了后世的爱戴[2]。

Not a Filipino but Indonesian, my grandfather lived through Japanese occupation and fought in the Dutch-Indonesian war, and he never held a grudge against the Japanese or Dutch. I think I speak for most South East Asians when I say that we really don't care. To us, it's in the past, it should be remembered but the men who did it are all dead or old so why bother holding a grudge.
My grandfather would even get mad at us when we would blame the Dutch or Japanese, he would always say that you didn't live through what him and his generation did so you don't have a right to be mad. I think many people in other countries nowadays should think this way, it is useless to hold grudges for what your grandparents or greatgrandparents did so many years ago.

There's this story in our family that my great-great-grandmother helped out a Japanese general when he was caught in a pinch at war. That general was not like the other soldiers back then, and was actually trying to help the civilians not to get caught up, inspite of orders. To thank her, he gave her his katana to help her defend herself if anything were to happen. And to this day, that katana became one of our family heirlooms.

My grandpa lost his parents to the Japanese during the colonization era, the weight never passed down to him. He loves to go touring in Japan, and never carried any hatred, even as the first generation. I had multiple Philippine History professors who said that whenever they had japanese exchange students, those students always end up crying when they learn about the Philippines' history under the Japanese occupation because like what the lady in the video said, it isn't really discussed in Japan because they want to focus on their glory. They are always so surprised to the point of tears.
this is true... i had a Jpn friend before, my language partner, and out of the blue, he went apologising for the past war the Philippines had with Japan. i told him past is past and his ancestor war crimes are not his, so as a Pinoy i moved on from there and he should too.. he was so happy i acknowledged his apologies.

Unfortunately, from what I've learned in several videos as well about Japan, the younger generation don't really talk about WWII in their history class. In a way, it was "brushed off." Their knowledge of war would be more about shogunates, samurais, and Shinsengumi-but again, not a lot.
The older generation would have a bit more knowledge-some from personal experience, and some that were able to learn it in school when it was taught for a brief period. Not sure how that went down, but I'd hazard a guess in thinking that it puts Japan in a heroic point of view, and then playing victim, rather than them being in the wrong.
The fact that most Japanese aren't aware of their history is one of the reasons why other countries are angry, but yeah, everytime I meet a Japanese and end up talking about what our country been through under their occupation they apologize sincerely.

I get jealous when i see the rich culture and history of other countries especially SEA countries with their temples and ancient cities. If our culture, history, cities and indigenous people were not destroyed and enslaved how rich our history could it be? How different our national identity could be? How far of a progress could we gave reached? We will never know since "winners" or the stronger countries write history and pass on their legacy (even the corrupt structure of their govt). Those who are rich and privileged will always step on the people who are less fortunate. As a 3rd world country, personally i think, we can only accept the circumstances and adapt. Forgive and receive help from the people who hurt you. Accept and welcome them even if they look down on you. Because that's the only way someone "weaker" will survive. my great grandfather fought during the war in the provinces. after the war he would tell stories he killed a shit ton of japanese. And then after the war, some guy from the Japanese government, not sure if he was an ambassador or not, came to his house and gave him a formal apology, and a sakura tree as a peace offering. I love their culture anime and food, I'm pretty sure I had sushi 3 times last week 😍 My grandpa lost his parents to the Japanese but he still likes Japan and toured several times, and I hope that I get to visit some day too. Probably the scar that they left in Filipinos will never be removed but slowly and surely, time really heals everything. All these years, Japan showed us that they are true to their intention of asking forgiveness. Japan is not stealing Philippine Islands. Japan is not sending drug lords in the Philippines. Japan is sharing their technology with the Philippines. They are funding Philippine government projects with “reasonable” agreement, Japanese people are honest and polite.
Even if they have a passive-aggressive society, they still value respect and politeness to everybody.

Davao is the "Little Tokyo" during the Japanese occupation. My great grandmother served the Japanese as their househelp. I am not sure if she was a victim of being a "comfort women" which she bare a child from a Japanese Military Officer. After the war, She was left by a piece of land to till and a child to raise. The child never registered or has a birth certificate. My great grandmother was single parent then. As the child grow up becoming adult, she finally have the courage to go to Japan to know and find her father. When she found her father at the shrine cemetery outside Tokyo. She had known that her father has another family. She had met them. She was happy and forgiving. Then on, she moved to Zurich to start a family. Until now, she is proud being a Filipina-Japanese. She is my grandmother, mother of my mother. 😊

During the first half of the 20th century, Korea was under Japan. A lot of Korean men were conscripted in the Japanese Imperial Army. Philippines was invaded and occupied by Japan. You have heard of Asian comfort women. I am willing to bet the "Japanese" soldiers who raped countless Filipinas and fathered a lot of children in the Philippines were actually Korean men serving in the Japanese Imperial Army. If anybody would care and do an ancestry check, they can ascertain DNA is indeed Korean.

《训民正音》
西元15世纪以前，韩语只有语言没有文字，以汉字为书写工具[1]。由于韩语与汉语是完全不同的语系，使用汉字记录韩语是一件很不容易的事，加之一般百姓不懂得汉文，非常不利于文化的交流与发展[2]。为了解决韩民族书写文字的问题，1443年朝鲜王朝世宗大王组织一批学者创造了适合标记韩语语音的文字体系--韩字。这些文字当时被称作“训民正音”，意为“教老百姓以正确的字音”[2]。1940年发现的《训民正音解例本制字解》（发行于朝鲜世宗28年，1446年）宣称韩字的子音与母音是根据人的口腔构造、中国古来的天地人思想以及阴阳学说而创制出来的。
书中记载如下：
“天地之道，一阴阳五行而已。坤复之间为太极，而动静之后为阴阳。凡有生类在天地之间者，舍阴阳而何之。故人之声音，皆有阴阳之理，顾人不察耳。今正音之作，初非智营而力索，但因其声音而极其理而已。理既不二，则何得不与天地鬼神同其用也。

不过1443年朝鲜世宗命令使用谚文的时候，受到众多使用汉字的朝鲜文人和两班贵族的批评，因为他们认为抛弃汉字就等于失去中国文明，而成为夷狄之邦。崔万里曾说：“自古九州之内，风土虽异，未有因方言而别为文字者。唯蒙古、西夏、女真、日本、西蕃之类，各有其字，是皆夷狄事耳，无足道者。《传》曰：‘用夏变夷，未闻变于夷者也。’历代中国皆以我国有箕子遗风，文物礼乐，比拟中华。今别作谚文，舍中国而自同于夷狄，是所谓弃苏合之香，而取螗螂之丸也；岂非文明之大累哉？”两班贵族反对谚文的另一个原因是因为谚文的传播和普及会威胁到他们对于知识的垄断，进而动摇两班的政治根基。

On number 5: There are actually tales that the Koreans were more vicious to Filipinos during the Japanese occupation.I don't know if it's true or not but I heard it from my mom who heard from her parents, grandparents,older gen who survived WW2 that the Korean soldiers were the ones who bayoneted babies. What surprised me is, I've seen comments here that have similar stories but we are from various places in the country.

@@mylove_78 I think Korea was part of Japan that time. I read from some that they volunteered in the Japanese army. After the war, some Japanese prisoners of war were sent back. And there was a Korean officer was executed for war crimes to the Filipinos.
I need to get back at that comment where he named an author of a study or a book about it. There are not really substantial proofs about the rumors of Koreans being more vicious because their population in the army was few. But they could not discredit the rumors because of the witnesses during the time.

I had a Japanese friend who visited once and while visiting some historical sites in Manila, he bowed down to me saying sorry many times for all the things his country did. I in turn bowed down together with him and also said sorry but all that is in the past. Yes, we never had an enemy. We never started a fight against other countries. When in fact if you make Pinoys as your friend, they will treat you as part of their family. I think Filipinos tend to give attention more on the positive sides. We never forget what they've done to us, even the America's betrayal and Spain during the world wars, but we never hold grudges that much. Filipinos tend to live in the present and look in the future. Philippines and Filipinos are welcoming, friendly, and diplomatic in a sense.
I agree with the girl who mentioned about Japanese in Davao. My lolo always tell us some stories about his Japanese friends before and they are really treated well. He's now turning 95 on December 31.

Same. According to my grandma, the Japanese soldiers occupying Davao were polite. I remember her telling us a story that she was even escorted by a Japanese Captain/General back to her hometown in Davao Oriental.

My great grandfather who was part of a filipino guerilla force against the japanese said that some of the japanese soldiers that they encountered are actually quite nice, some can even spoke a little english and tried to learn the language. Eventually they died anyways since they're enemies at that time
I heard and read similar story about some Japanese here in my region, eastern Visayas. A Japanese soldier (I think he had a high rank) helped a town/city (I'm not sure where) in agriculture and economy. If I still remembered it right, the people on that place made a memorial of that soldier.

Koreans have a different attitude towards Japanese because Japan treats Koreans specifically as a go-to hate target today.
Korea is the go-to external enemy in their current politics. Anti-K0rean racism is a lucrative business, as they make best sellers as books. There're sections dedicated for anti-K0rean books in normal Japanese bookstores. They make street parades with slogans such as "R11ape K0rean w0men", "K0reans are c0ckroaches", "K0reans are garbage", while using a military flag (Rising Sun Flag) as a symbol of hate, and a symbol of nostalgia towards the Imperialist era.
None of the acts above are reciprocated by K0reans. There is no such thing is, anti-Japanese hate parades in Korea. Nor bookstore sections dedicated to anti-Japanese books.
When a Japanese politician expresses a favourable or apologetic attitude towards K0reans, his/her popularity drops immediately and gets hate from Japanese citizens. It is a common testimony among Koreans who lived in Japan that they got bullied in a clearly racist fashion.

I believe that each and every nationalities are unique on their own that's why it's always important to respect one another as a unique individual. The most touching conversation I had about the WW2 with a Japanese was when my Japanese principal (I worked in a Japanese public school ) said sorry to me for the harsh treatment of the Filipinos by the Japanese

The Japanese in the 1940s were still Dictatorship. General Tojo, Japan's dictator was executed. Japan was later a free country. The Philippines is also a free country.
In Korea, we learn what Japan did to Korea in school, which naturally brings our hatred toward Japan(obviously not everyone and some Koreans love Japan). As a Korean, I am surprised how open-minded Philippines are toward Japan, although knowing they were colonized in the past. And seeing these younger generations forgiving it(not sure about the old generations of Philippines) makes me really wanting to reflect on the Philippines open-minded attitude.

As a Filipino, yes we were colonized by Japan but our elders (those who are still alive) mainly remembers the Spanish time when talking about colonization here. We were only colonized for 3years by Japan and 333 years by Spain. By the time we were colonized by Japan, we got help from US with General Douglas MacArthur (honored by the Philippines) thus having Japan surrendered to us with the Guerilla campaign like a resistance group. You say open minded young generations? Yeah a little bit but mainly we are open minded because our ancestors taught us to be kind and forgiving. It is not only us the young generation, but also our forefathers. Just want to share this to you, there was a man named Elpidio Quirino in the Philippines and during Japan and US war here, his wife and 3 of his children were ones of those hundred thousands who were killed. He was pretty mad but then 8 years later he became a president in the Republic of the Philippines. And you know what he did? He pardoned all the Japanese war criminals and sent them home to Japan despite his own family killed during the war. Then he said, “I have granted pardons so that hatred against the Japanese will not remain among my descendants and the Filipino people.” And that's when I think Filipinos started to forgive others, not just our minds that were opened but our hearts also. That is why we could be able to love foreigners equally despite those colonizations. Our attitudes helped us get through the darkness we experienced. Be polite, kind, loving, and forgiving. His words came true. The hatred against Japanese or any other nations were not normalized. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, Philippines will always be that hospitable and forgiving country you'll ever see. And because of that, Japan honoured him by building a memorial of Elpidio Quirino in Tokyo. He was hurt, he had seen Japan as an enemy, but as a Filipino and an individual, he showed that true winning is forgiving and he does not want the Filipinos to live a life resenting others.

For me, a lot of old people I know only see Japan as tourist/economic powerhouse(some even know some comfort women personally), though they don't like the past, they don't really mind it that much.
I also always remember what my Mom said to me: "Pagbigyan mo lahat ng nakasakit sayo bago matapos ang araw" or something like that (TL: Forgive those who hurt you before the sun sets.)
It's hard to do but it makes me happier and lets me carry less burden.
My grandfather often told told stories about ww2 about his father tortured, cannibalism,etc. But he never showed hatred in telling the stories. I didn't feel anything that will make me hate japan instead i felt how a war is brutal and scary thus should not be repeated in history. Even in buying things he would recommend products from germany/japan cause they tend to last longer

In Bohol, specifically in the mountainous area where my late grandpa owns a lot of land plots, I was told by my late grandma that during the Japanese time, women in that area dived into mud-filled holes and made sure that they wont be recognized as living things, waiting for the Japanese soldiers to pass by. But she just smiled and comfortably tell me tales as if those didnt happen ❤

This is a very interesting conversation and I find it to be from my own experience. I'm a Filipino American who emigrated to the US as a teen and ended up marrying a Japanese American and I was asked once in college by an Asian grad student how my family felt about that. I was taken aback. It never occurred to me that there would even be an issue just because my boyfriend (now husband) is of Japanese descent. This is even knowing and hearing stories from my grandparents regarding their experiences during the Japanese invasion. They talked about their experience as fact with no commentaries on hatred towards the Japanese people. My grandpa was a POW during the war but he also befriended one of the guards. My grandma talked about how she and her sisters painted charcoal on their faces to avoid getting raped. I'm sure they were scared but she never said anything bad about the Japanese people. Mind you, my grandpa was very pro US and saw them as a saviors. He used to quote General McArthur all the time. In spite these stories, I got the impression as a child that it was war and it's what the Japanese gov't did and not the people who were in Japan who never took part on any brutalities that happened. So meeting my husband who was a 4th generation Japanese American who's families experienced their own injustice here in the US (my in-laws were in concentration camps during WWWII as children) I never connected him to Japan who invaded the Philippines. The sins of Japan was now his to bear.

Koreans are willing to forgive, forget and move on. Their only requirement is for the Japanese government to admit all the atrocities it did to Koreans and ask forgiveness. But the Japanese government never gave the "sorry" that the Koreans deserve. They even try to evade from their atrocities by portraying their crimes as acts of heroism in their history books. They never admitted their war crimes. How would you forgive and forget if someone raped you and massacred your family, and that person denied all of it. He is living peacefully and happily while you are living in grief and still hoping for justice throughout your life.

However, I do think you're right. A negative trait for a lot of filipinos is our non confrontational nature. I'm half Filipino and half Japanese. I was raised in Japan and went to American schools, so I'm sorry to say I can't speak
Filipino. But I'm never had problems talking to Filipinos because everyone seem to be able to speak English. I like of think of myself, a product of an American serviceman and a Okinawan woman, as living proof that former enemies can let go of the past and come together.
I believe every country has its share of racists and that unfortunately is really difficult to fix. But I am of the opinion that Korea unfairly makes judgments on the colonial past using present day moral standards. Further more, the Korean government uses victimhood of the past as political leverage towards Japan. The government s;eem to educate its children with anti-Japanese sentiments which will undoubtedly instill ill will towards Japan and make improving relations between the two countries difficult.
Pres. Moon said publicly that Japan is not Korea's ally and yet the Koreans go bonkers when Japan took Korea of the whitelist for ignoring Japan's inquiries about the destination of some sensitive materials that were unaccounted for. Korea had been the only Asian country on the list but now having to go through import/export procedures like the rest of Asia so offended Koreans that they went on a "Boycott Japan" campaign, hurting mostly Korean importers and Korean airlines.
Pres. Moon also refused to touch the birthday cake presented by PM Abe. I suspect that any show of friendliness towards Japan would have upset many Koreans at home. I could go on and on and list Japan's attempts at presenting peace offerings but it would be too long here, but in a nutshell the Koreans keep moving the goalpost and have no real interest in resolving issues. They will take compensations and sign agreements only to have the treaty overturned as soon as the next administration comes to power. "That agreement is no longer valid," they would say, "But we'll keep the money thank you."
Japan is not innocent of its colonial past just as many western countries. But Korea seem to want to present its thirty some years of occupation as the most painful. Victimhood has proven to be politically and economically profitable they will not let go of it easily.
So when a Filipina gets a tattoo resembling the rising sun flag (still the official Japanese navel flag), They will criticize her on social media for lacking understanding for Korean sensibilities, not even realizing that the Filipinos have suffered so much more from colonization by various countries. Filipinos don't get upset by the sight of the Spanish, Americans or Japanese flags. It is only the Koreans.
It is interesting that Korean sensibility towards this flag didn't come into existence until 21century. It seems the further away in time from the colonial period, Koreans find new ways to suffer the pains of the past. The Korean Government endorsed prostitutes for Americans soldiers during the Korean war. They were called "ianfu" or "comfort women". If at the time the Koreans had the same image of "comfort women" that they present now, 10, 12, 14 year olds taken forcibly from their home, wouldn't they have felt ashamed of using the same term during the Korean war? I'm not saying that there were no women who suffered. But Korean sensibility towards the term "comfort women" also seems to also have been manufactured in the 21 century and the way they present it to the world filtered through a particular narrative. In Korea, questioning that narrative can get you jailed or fined as one Korean historian found out. She wrote a book on comfort women based on her research including interviews with some of the women.. She was taken to court and fined. It was not that anything she wrote was wrong. The claim was that what she wrote offended the comfort women. It looks like the author found some discrepancies in the statement made by some of the former comfort women.
Recent scandals in Korea have surfaced that shows groups claiming to support comfort women were actually keeping the most of the money donated for themselves and only using the former comfort women to enrich themselves monetarily and politically.
On a side note, I was impressed by Pres. Duterte when he came to Japan. This man, audacious enough to basically give a American president the finger, visibly made efforts to be in best behavior in front of the Emperor of Japan. My Filipino half was proud and my Japanese half grateful.
