I am Fil-Am and no matter how long I lived here in the US I still have Filipino accent and I am proud of it. Lee Da Hae feels like she is above and beyond anyone else and I want her to know straight up that even if she speaks fluent english that does not mean she is intelligent. Think outside the box, respect cultural differences, it is not important to be fluent, it is more important to just be able to communicate. Here in the US, we do not focus on that as we are multi cultured.
Yes Sir that's understandable because we have our own language, accents is not important, what's important is we can communicate others, knows how to read and write especially english country.
Exactly I use to. Like her but now no thanks there are. More pretty and. More talented actress. Than here as if she is good in English to I feel sorry for here...
Got into a teaching moment with a white friend over accent he was calling costumer service as usual, a pinoy with heavy bisayan answered and he complained that the guy was rude and he can't understand the accent and one of his friends commented that he should ask where bourogh this guy comes from and the guy would not know what that means they posting the comments on face book , I had enough and I said borough is a district and we don't used that word often , we use the word barangay in the Philippines and I replied you guys are american but you have your own accent if your from Boston you have bostonian accent, from south you have the southern drawl, New Jersey different accent, its unique and shows your accent so I won't critize anyone with accent, they stop posting nasty comment. When I saw him a couple of days after, he asked me if I was angry at him and I said no, just explaining people have different accent, I told him it's a teaching moment. BOW
Thank you for your continuing support to us Filipinos. Don't listen to negative people. If you want to visit Philippines, feel free to do so and experience first hand what our country & the people is all about. Many people tends to say bad things to us because they are insecure. Just go here & I promise you will not be dissapointed. Just like every other foreign countries, be ready & be mindful & carefull to choose who you listen and trust. Generally Filipinos are approachable. You can ask everyone no matter what your accent as long as we understand each other. We love those who loves us in return! ❤
I wonder where she learned that accent. It is not Filipino accent. Is she spreading false news? It is prevalent nowadays to spread news or information to suit one's purpose. Her purpose? To humiliate Filipinos with the consent of that Korean program. Shame on her and her co actors on that show because they all laughed. They also didn't know because they just relied on her false knowledge. Shame. I thought they have high regards on their culture..is it to shame other culture? Maybe.
I used to adore her before as an actress but when I found out she said something bad to the Philippines, aside from this accent issue, I was totally disappointed about her. As what I know she grew up in Australia so she knows how to speak English but she does not have the right to belittle Filipinos accent because it shows your own roots, identity and where you actually came from, and there's nothing to be ashamed of it. Regardless of your accents, having a good heart is more important than anything else and unfortunately she does not have it
Accent is nothing than Grammar,,, no matter how perfect the accent is but the most important is to know the rules and the grammars......Im proud to be a pure Pinoy.
Love your comment Sir' Our english maybe a little different from them but still the world understand what we are trying to say. Thats the important thing... 👍👍👍
To be honest, even some Americans are amazed how Filipinos can speak and understand English very well. We are actually the 2nd with the highest English proficiency in Asia next to Singapore.
She's talking about herself. She was underrated because she needs to go to america just to learn. But in the philippines we don't need to go to other country because we have our own english subject to learn. I admire her as an actress in korea but I changed being my idol. Lee da hae is using filipinos for her own fame.
Thanks for your opinion.Such Korean actress and others are entitled to their own opinion . But we can brag of our knowledge and use of Filipino English both oral and written. We are so conscious of our Engl structure . But because we are not Americans or Britons we are not expected to have the correct accent that is why we call it Filipino Engl. Engl is part of school curriculum in all educational levels. Also mastery of the Engl has been a part of our life from pre school days. This mastery I can brag.As an evidence my niece applied for studies in a college school in Australia .She was exempted from undergoing requirements for Engl . in her admission requirements. Also I ( graduate of an education degree major in Engl minor Fili ) taught Engl for 38 yrs in both high school and college and I know who excels in Engl. and related courses.Prior to influx of technology my students were good at oral and written Engl.Sad to say nowadays the use of Engl is facing the challenges like bilinggualism. But Engl remains as a part of our current curriculm. Keep safe everyone.
Please don't mind those hate comments because here in the Philippines, not every Filipino speaks with English accent when doing so. This is evident mostly from those living in the rural areas and/or didn't finish their schooling but still trying to answer in English. What matter most is how to communicate understandably with other person and not the accent. Love & peace to everyone ❣️♥️✌️😊
She is insulting the pronounciation of english vendor in the philippines but she didnt realize that filipino vendors are not fully educated, some of them are elementary level or high achool level only its because of poverty instead they're spending their time to study, they are helping to their parents by selling of somthing, comparing to the college level or graduated in college
I just discovered this video. Actually it's not insulting to us Filipinos. This is a variant or a multitude of English Accents Filipinos can make. We can literally mimic any english accent as the 2nd largest call center hub in the world. But I really like how you are concerned with us Pinoys. Thank you
Everyone has their own accent. But this korean girl really messed up. We didn't mind what she did. Its just funny because she really CAN'T do the Filipino accent😂😂
We have different english accent in Philippines because of our various provincial accents. Like I speak with Ilocano-english accent but I can adapt other accents. My tagalog is Ilocano accent too.
Don't worry, we don't really mind that issue anymore. We're over that, better yet we just decided to ban her here in the Philippines. The Korean Actress, Lee Da Hae, shall not be allowed to enter the country (Philippines) unless otherwise permitted by the Filipino Community. Lol jk 😂 On a serious note, before mocking other people's accent, the mockers should listen to themselves first. English is just a language, there is no required accent to be called as an English speaker. There is no proper accent, only proper capability to speak english. Edited: "They" changed into "the mockers" to prevent generalization. Ps. I encourage y'all to study and learn Modern Baybayin, it's fun to use and will help retain our culture.
I hope the one assign issued her a "persona non grata"... Anyways... maybe she's like that because she has no Filipino Fans like other Korean actors and actresses... now i think i have to check all the KoreanNovela that i'm planning to watch... if she's in it i won't watch it! That's my way of supporting my fellow filipino people who speak with an accent like me. 😅😅😅

Even Americans have different accents, like the southern accent (from the southern states) is sometimes difficult to understand until one gets used to it. It's a fact that accent is not a gauge of the language knowledge. I still remember when a high ranking executive of the place I initially worked in the USA kept on telling other people how proficient I was expressing myself specially in written English, that I used words that he did not even use in his daily communication/conversation. And mind you, compared to all other Filipinos I honestly feel that my English knowledge in all aspects is just average. Now I have even increased my English vocabulary and know exactly what "chosen words" I could use describing some "nice" Koreans (tongue in cheek). I do hope they will understand every word I say as I have proudly retained my Filipino accent. I GUESS THERE ARE MANY "BEACHES" IN KOREA, and they better not mispronounce that word or else it could sound like an offensive word, with or without accent. Hehe.... P.S. I love Koreans! Kamsa Hamnida! P.S.S. Lazisoo, I understand your spoken English very well without any difficulty at all,. You have good vocabulary and I am pretty sure it won't take long for you to master the English language (grammar specially) , written and oral. I wish I will hear you talk again in English after 6 months,
Western people even hire Filipinos to give them services because filipino English can easily understand there are many international call center in the Philippines
true, my boss told us that our English is excellent. First time nila to hire Filipino freelancers and super happy nila kasi 'yong communication sobrang smooth daw.
Maaring hindi ang accent ntin minamaliit nila kundi tayo mismo g mga pilipino kc mababa tingin nila satin dhil s khirapang tinatamasa NG bansang pilipinas, I think if you're an Asian Philippine is the best way to learn English because most Koreans doesn't even know the basic if they go to Western country they hardly catch up the world's kc napakaslang if Western tas napakabilis nilang mag salita not unlike us
Proud n proud c Lee da hae s knya g English accent pano maraming celebrities nila ang d marunong mag salita NG khit basic English manlang ky kabilat kanan interpreter nila pag silay lumalabas NG bansa

Actually, after watching all of the racism from one of the Korean I started to dislike watching kdramas and all TV shows from Korean intertainment.. Yes she only got water slightly correct the rest is just what people think British accent is. British people have different accents as well. You won't hear her "British accent" in mainstream British culture even.
Was she really that good and learned at speaking English? Then why she agrees to letting Koreans come here in Philippines as transients trying to learn more of the English language? Well, if she sees herself that way, let her teach the English Reading and Language she knows and boasts about. Let her nation acquire from her this foreign speaking skills she has!!. Let her show her guts to train her fellow Koreans to speak English, para naman mas maging kapaki-pakinabang siya sa kanyang bansang Korea!
Hey, I just saw this video in my recommendations and I want to say this to you. As a Filipino, I am grateful to you for appreciating our culture. You dont have to mind those bashers. Even though grammar is important, whats more important than that is being able to convey your message, being able to communicate itself.
Proud to be a Filipina. I worked with different kind of nationality here in the US, Accent is not a big deal as long as we understand each other, spelling is a big deal that’s why we have spell check, in my opinion. Good vibes only
That’s unethical gestures to others. She should know why most of the celebrities that came from other country has to speak American when communicating to others. They don’t put too much attention or even imitating how the people speak the language. The main important there is both understand each other no matter what nationalities you hold. Actually, American had a better attitude towards other people that can’t speak the language. I would say that empathy and attitude run more important to every one, no matter where you came from.
We may not that good in accent but we Filipino mostly can speak and understand not only English but a lot of dialects. Why we are easy to find job?coz we can easily adopt every country and their languages.Me I speak Arabic and English coz I'm working here in Arab country.
When I heard the sample of Filipino accent of that lady in the TV show, I realized that she doesn't really know how to speak English language in Filipino accent. What I heard is Thai English accent.
i am proud to be a Filipino accent i eork in Singapore for 10yrs but no matter ehat ny English accent my boss was very proud of it becaise they say filipino speaks fluent the best is communication is in hongkong i work now for more than 20yrs hongkong people was colonize by uk but whatever their English accent it doesnt matter at all yhe most important both understand each other i hope lee da he will learn more the ulture in every countries even the tradition thanks for sharing.
well, this is a misconception about the Filipino accent, as this actress probably didn't meet Filipinos who have an American accent or no Filipino accent when they speak English. And yes I totally agree, accent isn't important but with correct pronunciation to avoid any miscommunication. We Asians don't need to sound like westerns as we are not western people. It's okay to learn or adapt to other countries' accents but it's inappropriate behavior to make fun of other countries' accents. But please my fellow Filipinos, it's better to educate them than throwing another insult.
I dont get oh accent anyway... We have a combination of too many accent... Im not sure if we got that from Spanish who were here for 300 years... Andthen i can remember my english teacher in elementary, so strict, so tidy and really a filipino accent but does not sound so off.. I mean she doesn't sound american or British but i like the way she speak... Oh oh she sound like a senator or congressman when she do her lesson.
Oh, maybe she's a fan of filipino comedies and comedians or she's able to watch one lol😊 that's how our veteran comedians entertain us😅. And we're proud to have this funny yet cute accent but actually that's not how we pronounce english words and that's not our 'only' accent.
Yeah, Filipino Comedians also added some of Filipino Accent. HAHAHAHA. They do that for fun, but to what i see on the video, they just react in a offensive way
Sorry for those comments kuya. There are youtubers who use Filipinos just for views and it's annoying. We appreciate those who REALLY appreciate our culture and not just using us for fame. And also, your English is really good. Accent does not matter, as long as we can understand you, there will be no problem. Let's keep on improving😊
Thank You for the comments and your support to Filipinos. I used to be an English teacher to.many Koreans and most of my students s were very respectful just like you. God bless you.
Same here ESL teacher in Alabang. All of my students were good to me and the highschool ones are the sweetest, gave me small gifts and a letter when the short classes ended. One of my elementary student even gave me a Korean name😍🥰💜, I'll never forget them.
Hi, Lazisso, as Koreans generally you don't prefer to speak English that much. But to us Filipinos, speaking the English language matters most. And throughout our years in school, English and Filipino language is the medium of instruction. The proper use and the proper pronounciation of both English and Filipino terms are being taught. That shows how serious and sincere we are to acquire the skill in terms of communication in both languages. That's why many of you Koreans and other Asean countries prefer to study English language here in the Philippines. But still you have the guts and the face to embarrass and berrated us, Filipinos the way we speak, may it be the accent or the way we pronounce the word in most of your TV programs in Korea, which seems far different here in our country. That I appreciated much here in the Philippines, not one TV Station and TV programs in that matter ever maligned any countries most specially your country such as what you're doing to us. Ask them to stop it does not contribute any good to the listening public instead you are creating ill-feeling or feud to both countries. Good that we have you na Korean seem different from your Kababayan. Hope to see you or communicate to you personally. Looking forward to it.
British or American accent doesn’t matter as long we can speak and understand English. When the host in that video laughing but did he/she understand what she said? That’s why I do not watch Korean variety show they looked down someone else because of their color and accent.
I was dismayed what that actress did, even she knows English accent , I can say Filipinos even it is not educated can understand English. I do hope they don't understimate us and don't be so judgemental. "Do not do unto others , if you don't want to do unto you. "
thats the motto of my uncle when he still alive..dont do unto other.if you dont want to do unto you.that korean celebrity insulting us.how about korean accent hahaha..rat accent better than english korean accent😀🌝🌝🌝sorry boy but your fellow korean was insulting us..
Well... The Fact That filipino are Better speaker english than them just look at the data After other Native english speaker... Filipinos are next best on the list
The difference on our culture and how we do stuff and how we talk is unique and if the whole world speaks the same way, the world would be boring place, being unique is good and really important to be respectful
You know what? Lee Da Hae should learn from Dara about Filipino English Accent. Like, her english doesn't sound like Korean speaking english. She sounds Filipino.
True, I heard her as well and I thought, this is how a typical Filipino speaks english. She even nailed it with thr 'umm' 😆 cutie Dara, she knows lotsa language. It's amazing.
Grammar is also important, also the use and the meaning. These are 3 factors of language to be able to communicate well. Accent varies on different countries, same with language, there is no better accent. As long as we are able to convey the message and we are understood by our listeners then we are good communicators. That's the main reason why we speak right? Is to be able to communicate ☺️
@Edilberto Gerna jr true because they usually use informal English in everyday conversation -just like us Filipinos we also have grammatical errors in language such as Tagalog. I'm very sad for her lack of knowledge in this area. Another thing that bothers me the most is, this is her imitation of FILIPINO ENGLISH TEACHERS! I, for one, is an English Teacher to Koreans. We are taught to make sure we spoke the language clearly but at the same time use the proper accent, which is American accent (Filipino English Teacher follow American accent). So this is a disgrace on our part as English Teachers. Just sad.
Thank you for supporting filipino cultures. Your English great! I have a filipino accent when I speak English. I am proud of it because I am filipino. Everybody should be proud of their accent because that's what make them who they are. And respect and understand other cultures. That will make us all a better person and this world would be a better place to live in. I love Koreans people. They are very nice and friendly peoples. I have Koreans friend.
It doesn't matter how good your english grammar or accent is,what matters more to me is,how good your heart is in understanding every nationality accent. No one is perfect even how fluent you are or good you are in many ways. Im proud to be a filipino😘 I love my country Philippines!❤❤❤ I love everything about our culture! Just spreads love!!!❤
I literally spoke out loud just to test my accent. She's mimics American accent really good, but I personally think, Filipino accent is too difficult for her. All I can say is 'More practice, AJA!'
I don't have a problem if someone is trying to make fun of our Filipino accent. It is only our secondary language. My problem is she didn't even do it properly.
I really feel his sincerity on how he love and respect both korean and filipino accent, let's just not further complicate things. I'm a filipino and I aslo feel offended by how that actress portrayed filipino's english accent but anyways we do that too here in our country so its the same.
If that actress is so confident enough with her English then she is ready to host a program using the language. We will see how well she is going to manage...
Im filipino but not offended. I actually thought that was pretty spot on. I think filipino accents are cute actually. I started to to notice how cute filipino accents are when my 6 year old daughter stayed in the Phillipines for 6 months and she picked up the accent of course. When she came back, It was just so cute I would talk to her all day just to hear her filipino accent. I loved it.
I am from Philippines and I really appreciate your insight regarding to this issue. Yeah, I also agree that every person has different accent and pronounciation. And nobody has the right to insult anybody or somebody. We, filipinos love korea (drama, music, culture etc.) So instead of insulting, why not give everyone equal respect. Everybody should be treated fairly, with respect. Spread love not negativity💜😉
She's basically insulting most uneducated Filipino domestic workers that she may have encountered in Korea, but if you think about it if most uneducated Filipino can speak English, what more can those educated ones offer no?
She insulted on uneducated Filipino domestic workers but she didn't realize Korean people worst compare to Filipino's. She's very snobbish lady. Whatever she doing just to gain back Filipino now it won't do any good. Maybe she still has some Filipino fans.
That actress sounds more with Korean English accent And that’s not how Philippines English accent...she is exaggerating.. I think she was doing more of Korean English accent
You’re right. As long as we understand each other, that’s the most important. Rather than, we speak English - American/British accent but we don’t understand it because OF some omissions OF letters or the way ON How the speaker delivered it, it’s useless I believe.
I had a Korean professor with a very strong Korean accent here in U.S. Very hard to understand. I kept asking my Korean friends what he was saying. But never made fun of it. I was just there to learn from him and I appreciated him. Educated Filipinos are actually really good On the side note, I think your English is fine. I understand it perfectly. You can always improve it by speaking it a lot more. Props to you.
Man at least everyone is trying to speak English. It doesn’t matter if you are fluent or not and it’s okay cause everyone will understand what are you saying. Everyone has gone and is going through that stage of learning any language. I do feel bad when people make fun of someone’s accent. I enjoy it your video my dude. Keep it up with a good work.

As I watched that video, I was disappointed as how she portrays Filipino English Accent. We don't even speak English like that. Some Filipino teachers are strict in teaching English especially when it comes to pronunciation and grammar. Proper diction and intonation was taught properly in Philippine schools. What she did was not the Filipino English Accent.
I have been working to an American company for 25 years and I’m directly communicating with the top management in written and verbal way and they have all appreciated my big help and had praised me for my good communication skills. And they told me that Philippines is the best English speaking country in Asia. That means I was able to convey whatever I need to express or explain in my work. Proper communication weigh better regardless of accent. So stop under rating the Philippines.
The way she spoke about that Filipino accent is not even close to actual Filipino accent. Overall, the woman was not good and she was not funny at all.

I've been an ESL teacher since 2001 (and mostly for Koreans), so I've dealt with Koreans from all walks of life and not all of them look down on Filipinos and the Filipino English accent. Just like not every Filipino knows how to respect other people's opinion.
Google it, you won't lose your original accent after the age 12. Some British actors can acquire the American accent through training, but normally is not achievable. I am originally from the Philippines and have been living in Canada since my teens, i don't have distinct accent, because English is my 3rd language, but only 3 out of thousands of people I've met saud i have an accent; it was probably because I was tired and feeling sick when i was talking with him or her. Most of the time people ask me if i was born in Canada, because they said I have no accent or rather I have a Canadian accent when I speak English

To be honest, even some Americans are amazed how Filipinos can speak and understand English very well. We are actually the 2nd with the highest English proficiency in Asia next to Singapore.

This young man is respectful, kind and sincere. The Actress was displaying her very tacky ignorance. 🙇🏻♀️🔍🇺🇸❤️🙏🏽😉🗺

On a serious note, before mocking other people's accent, the mockers should listen to themselves first. English is just a language, there is no required accent to be called as an English speaker. There is no proper accent, only proper capability to speak english.

Why we are easy to find job?coz we can easily adopt every country and their languages.Me I speak Arabic and English coz I'm working here in Arab country.

well, this is a misconception about the Filipino accent, as this actress probably didn't meet Filipinos who have an American accent or no Filipino accent when they speak English.

We are taught to make sure we spoke the language clearly but at the same time use the proper accent, which is American accent (Filipino English Teacher follow American accent). So this is a disgrace on our part as English Teachers. Just sad.
