Blues Band Live! Showcase at Rosa’s Lounge December 15, 2024

In this Ensemble class at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, students meet on the first Wednesday of the session for an informal audition jam (instrumentalists should be prepared to be able to play a standard 12 bar blues progression and potentially solo; vocalists should be prepared to sing a few verses of a standard 12 bar blues song). Students are then placed in smaller bands and paired up with a teacher. Each band creates a set list and workshops a 25 - 30 minute set over 7 weeks. Bands will meet weekly either on Wednesday nights or Saturday daytime. All bands meet up back together at the end of the session for a big blues showcase (usually the last Sunday) at an authentic Chicago blues bar where each band gets to perform their set in front of friends and family.
