    Use a piece of .015 stock to tension the sidebar. Traditional turning pressure does not bind the pins

      You need to put a thin thin bent piece of metal like flexible one bend it and stick it in between the cylinder wall and the lock housing to put tent ion on the little bar then use the Lishi tool to set the pins a regular tension tool won’t work

      I apologize was moving fast and didn’t leave a solution or another way of thinking as I normally do so here it goes. I rewatched your pick attempt numerous times to see if I notice anything. I heard you said you tried every tension but I also noticed something that’s a bad habit. Starting your pick at pin 5 I watch your tension and your changing tension looks like every time you pick your raising tension and when you come off pin 5 you let off that tension which would then reset anything that may have happened. You then repeated that increase tension before pick for the rest of pins and also letting off sometimes as well. In conclusion start next attack forgetting about the past pick first the absolute lightest tension and you have to keep that tension throughout. Also remember every lock will react differently so for instance I may go pin 1 - and return to pin 1 at end but if after going back to pin 5 say 2 or 3 more times binding pin or no feedback of that slight movement happened I will reset. Now maybe go pin 1-5 then backwards 4-1. Keep consistent tension and use it simply to see which pin is sting the most and hit those pins first. Also some locks may be harder to pick one way than other way I’ve found so I noticed you tension was to turn the lock so try with intention yo turn lock to right if possible with that lock and should and you’ll also have a different result. Trust I’m no pro a newbie actually just an unbelievably fast learner good luck you got that let me know

    A few questions: Is that a Gen #3 Kwikset smart key? Also, from where did you get your Lishi tool? I ordered an "original" Lishi tool KW1 (It's not a cheap knockoff), and the tip is too wide to fit into a Kwikset smartkey keyway. The smartkey keyways are thinner than standard Kwikset keyways. Just wondering what type of Lishi is in this video. Mine does not say IC Card 312 (As the one in this video has....which happens to be the ones that fit into Smartkey keyways.

      @@doorandlocktips thanks for the reply👍 From what I understand, and have seen on UA-cam, standard picking and tensioning works with Generation 1 and 2 Kwikset Smartkey locks, but not Ge 3. So I'm guessing, a Lishi too should work great on a Gen 1 or 2 smartkey lock. I have a KW5 "original" Lishi tool, and it's too wide to fit. I saw a UA-cam video which stated that only KW1 will fit into a Kwikset smartkey keyway, so I ordered one. I got it today, but it also is too wide (same exact profile of my KW5), So first, I need to find the proper Lishi KW1 or KW5 that fits into the keyway of my Gen 2 Kwikset 660 smartkey, before I can try picking it with a Lishi. lol. I tried a snap gun on the Kwikset 660, but no luck.

    The lishi tool can’t pick it but it is good for decoding these locks. From that you can cut a key once the bitting is known. I still have customers that would rather pay me to rekey their Smartkey locks because they’re scared they’ll mess them up. And I’ve had to redo failed Smartkeys for quite a few customers. If it doesn’t feel right when you “program” a key, then do it again with that newer key. Used keys don’t make good “first” keys with Smartkeys. Also helps to lube the lock before attempting the rekey.

      You write 100% on that the only thing the homeowner has to fear is fear itself and reading that Half a paragraph on the manual or watching a UA-cam video too bad for them that's what I say too bad for them I guess they don't mind wasting their money but if they feel that they'll wreck the lock that's where we come in right

      @@doorandlocktips I’ve read a couple with success, but I’ve been able to get in with other means so it’s not exactly my go-to method when I’m on a lockout. Been thinking about investing in one of those smart key reader tools and they are expensive, but the lishi is successful if you don’t want to spend the money.

      I bought the accureader tool. Works very good. And highly recommend that tool. I’ve had the tool for over a year. I always try other doors to get into before making a code key. And I charge the customer extra for making a code key

    • @odinslockllc
      @odinslockllc Рік тому +1

      @@2815Juan thanks for the recommendation. There’s the accureader that works with a smart device then there’s the one that’s more like a scope using a mirror on end of a modified key. They’re all expensive though🥲. Smartkeys can be picked it’s just not the same feel as a pin tumbler lock. I agree too about the keys. I have better luck with the “first keys” that are code cut. Duplicates can sometimes make the slider jump into the wrong tooth if it’s not seated correctly (that’s jmo).
