This is a brilliant introduction. I’m shooting with an Alien Bee B800 next week, however, it seems that the hot shoe for my camera isn’t compatible with non Canon flash accessories / nor does my camera have a synch port - anyway around this ?

Thank you! I'm so glad it was helpful! You can totally use a sync cord! There's a sync cord port on the back of the Alien Bee Goo luck!

What if you use Sony?? I’ve only seen canon and Nikon users use it
that's easy you just buy a sony to ISO standard hot shoe adapter so you can use the CST trigger
Everything you see here can be used with Sony! The transmitter is just a hotshoe mount, which I think are universal.
