      Depends on where you live, how densely populated, how old you are, whether you are married or not, what your driving record is, what type of car you drive and how old it is, whether you want full tort or not, what type of coverage you want, how much you drive the car and how far you drive, and sometimes other factors. But you might want to shop around. As an 18 year old your insurance is going to be high. It drops when you get married and it drops as you get older. It bottoms out in your 40's and 50's and then it climbs again when you are in your 70's and 80's. If you want to minimize your insurance costs, move to a rural area, get married, get older, telecommute, drive a cheap, undesirable, older car and maintain a good driving record.

    Corvette owners don't want to drive fast or do burnouts!
    They have to! It's a contractual obligation after purchasing the vehicle! Not doing either is heretical! 💩

    Great videos! Quick question: What city/state are you insured in? I am older than you, with a professional license (chiropractor), have no charged accidents, and a completely clean license, and I am paying almost what you are just for liability on an older car, not even a Vette. Of course, I am in NY City (Brooklyn) so I assume you are in a very rural area? Thanks, and again, great video!

    I think the your estimates are very high, however, I have owned several Corvettes over the years and have never spent that amount of money per year. I have Historic plates which are good for life and never have to be renewed or the vehicle inspected, however, you are restricted to limited mileage per year which is fine as I only drive mine in the summertime. I also do most of the mechanical work myself and save money. Tires last me several years and I do pay personal property tax and my insurance premium is much lower than yours. The total for me is about $1000.00 or less for the year.

    As a 23 year old I was torn between a brand new evo x and a used z06. I love my evo but I just can't do slides or burnouts for obvious reasons. With the vette I was scared of insurance and it was much easier to justify a four door awd. This video makes me long for a vette even more :/ my current goals are a turbo upgrade and supporting mods. I've been working hard towards this but I'm missing rwd. If all goes as planned I'll have a video of my modded evo on my channel in 2-3 months. But I might cave and get something rwd. Either way great content! Very helpful.

      John Smith I have 2 boosted cars (EVO X and STI hatch) Iwanted my 3rd car to be an NA build. The STI is my daily. Both the EVO and C7 are pretty steep on insurance compared to the STi. Just keep that in mind. If you are just looking for the fastest best driving car its the vette hands down. The evo is awsome but the seats dont go up and down and the steering wheel is only up n down. If your gonna daily one car, make it an STI! There is a few videos on my dog channel you can see the Jap cars in the background. I will be making car videos starting in July with all 3 cars! I just got the Z51 C7 last week or so. it's an awsome car!

      When I was 16, my Dad asked me if I wanted to buy a Corvette, he would co-sign. I was working full time while going to school. understanding the value of depreciation is critical... even if you don't sell it. It still has a value that contributes to your overall assets. that's like buying a house for 300k knowing that in 1 year it'll be worth 150k. but saying I don't plan to sell it so it's no big deal.

  • @TheMB2333

    Very good continuation of your first video on costs. Interesting your state charges you Property Tax on automobiles. That's what you call the Uranium Mine Trick. The state gets the uranium and you get the shaft. As to insurance, check with your insurance company to see if their rate will go down if/when you get married. You have the expense of insuring a second driver, but it's possible your rate will be lower. Congrats on the 2k subscribers.

    • @CarsCostsandTechnology

      +Daphne CArey Thank you 😊 It seems like yesterday that we were celebrating 1K lol. I'm very thankful. I'm definitely not a fan of the property tax... In SC we pay income tax, property tax, sales tax, etc. Then you have to pay taxes again on earnings from your savings and gains from stocks sold. It's pretty frustrating.

    But what are you insured for? I found out that Geico tends to give you the bare legal minimum so you get a lower rate, but that ends up screwing you if you end up in an accident.

    Just curious what state you live in. Although Colorado doesn't have property tax here, they do hammer you on registration, which is based on the value of your car. Is this basically the same in your state?

    • @CarsCostsandTechnology
      @CarsCostsandTechnology  7 років тому

      +Bill Hengsteler Same concept. In SC you have to pay property tax based on the value of the car in order to register it.

      Then I definitely feel your pain for that. I have 2015 Stingray. Thankfully I just recently retired from the Army after 21 years, and since my disability rating is high enough, i never have to worry about registration fees. Otherwise it would run me about $850 a year. Gotta add though. What a deal/steal you got. When I bought mine new, the sticker was 74,000.

    Do you think it's a good idea to first get a non sports car that is a 2018 model then a few years after trade it in for a sports car? Really thinking about this because I have a steady job and have more then enough to get a 2018 model car. (Not a sport car)

    Thanks for posting the drawing :D I really like Corvettes, I really do, and I love the cars, but I think since I want some luxury... I'm gonna have to let the 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman S be my first car. After taking into account the money I can earn through investing, I think I could pay the ~$35,000 for a used one in 5 years. I'll be 17 in 5 years. I had a whole spreadsheet and it came down to either a 2016 Stingray or the Porsche and the Porsche won. They are still magnificent American cars :)

      @CarsCostsandTechnology  7 років тому +1

      Thanks for sending me the drawing! I'm sorry to hear that you want to join the dark side... Lol just kidding. I like Porsches also. At least you've got plenty of time to save and do research before the time comes to buy your car.

    • @inspiration_5877
      @inspiration_5877 7 років тому +1

      Cars, Costs and Technology Yeah. I guess I do. My parents are telling me my opinion will change very much, but I have had enough research and the Cayman in either a Blue or Lava Orange would look the best. I have $200 saved up in capital and I'm waiting so I have $500 to invest in... you guessed it... maybe or maybe not guessed it, but Ford, GM, and various others seem pretty steady but so do IT and energy companies. Sorry for going off topic a little \(•_•)/ I get caught up saying what's on my mind a lot. Anyways, thanks for responding! :D

    Appreciate the info, but you have to consider that costs vary WIDELY! I pay $735 a year for insurance. $100 a year in taxes, and about $700 in gas (6000 miles) so you can see that my expenses are vastly less than yours. You really can't take your experience and extrapolate to the general population. Yes, you had lots of caveats in your vid, but still--you can't come to any conclusions here because, really, the vid is all about you.
