Thanks for the clarification I assumed that was the case...I just bought a '16 Z06 vert with only 3 k miles and did not want the stage 3 aero (would have paid for the brakes had I found one) so did not consider the Z51 package. I'm an old guy who grew up in the muscle car era sliding them around dirt roads in rural Fl., so I know how to drive with loss of traction and the Z06 is pretty fun with the nanny aids off.

I have a 2015 Z 51 stingray at one thing that most all of these tutorial videos miss is that when you are in drive mode, and have the sport mode on if you stab the accelerator all the way to the floor real quick and let off it will automatically downshift the car to almost like a launch gear and then immediately stab right back into it it will send you sailing
Mine is a 2014 white Stingray convertible. I'd noticed that button, but hadn't touched it, nor followed up on it. Thanks bunches for this informative video!
Got my C7 a few weeks ago. Absolutely love the car. The first thing I did was turn off both those modes and spin that B You can walk these cars from one side of the road to the other.
Great video! Finally somebody whose not just driving the car and actually read the manual. My babys getting some decal work and im gonna double click in track mode to see the competiition option. CCandT. Excellent tutorial! With the manual seven-speed trans, can you verify if when you're at a stop on an incline and you take your foot off the brake to proceed, that there is a second or two where the car is held in place so that you don't roll backwards?
Peter Carey : yes the m7 has hill hold. To activate hold the brake and the clutch at the same time. When you release the brake the car will hold for a few seconds. If you let go of the brake before you clutch in. No hill hold will not activate
BaileyPaws. Thank you. That sure beats the old way of having to implore the use of the emergency brake and then to coordinate the release of same with the clutch and gas when someone was right on your asset. People love to play games with Corvettes. Save the Wave.
CCandT. Okay, assuming you concur with BaileyPaws, here's another request. Tell everyone the procedure for starting the Vette if the battery in the key fob goes dead and the DIC reads "no fob detected." It's amazing how many dealers can't give you the answer on this. Even you non-Vette owners might be interested if what you drive has a key fob, because you too could run into this problem. Your procedure might be a little different than the Vette, but the principal of how to get your car to start is the same.
Yep BaileyPaws is correct. M7 will hold. You can also manually activate e-brake which will auto disengage when you start to accelerate from 0. It auto-releases.

I've had my '19 Z06 that I bought brand new back at the end 2018 and I still don't have the b@lls to turn off the TC & Stabilitrak. I would consider that a death wish especially when driving on the city streets with traffic. The car is violently quick even with all the nannies turned on. I've yet to have any desire to want to mod it to make it go any faster than it already is. Best car I have ever owned by far 🤘
Cars, Costs and Technology I lost control of mine doing 170 mph on the 405 in la. It went completely sideways for at least a 18th mile. Right before it went into the wall it caught and straightened itself out. I swear it has a mind of its own, just never, NEVER turn the traction control unless you're doing a burn out. The brilliant tc on these saved my life quite a few times.
Maybe in a huge empty parking lot lol. Mine tries to go sideways even in track mode. Sport mode is what I drive in. You can have fun and the car won’t try to wreck itself. 😂
Although this video isn't about previous generation corvettes.....anyone who buys a corvette needs to know one thing.....the car has more capability than you. Respect for the power and knowledge of the suspension are key to getting the most from your corvette. The corvette has more hip movement than Shakira on bald tires....so much to the point where traction and stability control won't help you. Taking traction control off is a recipe for destruction as inexperienced drivers get the full weaponized torque on demand.....which creates snap oversteer. Unlike ferraris...porsche and any other car that has its power focused higher in the rev range....the corvette has double in torque what many of those cars produce . Unleashing the power of the c7 is far safer than previous generations as the nannies are never truly off but respect for the corvette is key to not end up in a ditch
falchulk sorry to tell you....the nannies are always hiding in the shadows.....because general motors doesn't want a lawsuit...nice try knowing what your talking about
Champ - ever since the CTS-V in 2009, there has been a way to FULLY disable the nannies. The fact that you claim it's because GM doesn't want a lawsuit is a clear indicator that you've never actually spoken to any of the men and women involved with the design decisions for these cars. ANY car can kill you or anyone else if not used properly. To assert that you can't fully disable protective nannies because of fear of litigation is just silly - there are about 5 buhzillion ways for someone to hurt themselves with any car. Besides - you can simply read the owner's manual in either a brand new C7 or an 8 year old CTS-V or any number of other GM cars for this exact information. Or check out any number of enthusiast forums where questions just like this are hotly debated and more importantly, tested and verified. And the normally aspirated C7 doesn't have "double the torque" of every supercar like you claim. There is a huge array of engines, power levels, torque levels, and much more. Making sweeping generalizations is just bad practice. Your statement MIGHT be true in a few specific cases. The sad thing is that anyone can use Google to figure out you have no idea what you are talking about. Next time, do a little searching, gather some facts, and make sure what you are posting is accurate. It'll serve you well in all other aspects of life. Do you actually OWN a C7, Ferrari, or similar sports car?
texastriguy you might want to find out and cry a river when you find out......considering that companies put a warning label on everything that any human being can hurt themselves just proves my point. Let's be honest how many people actually read the owners manual....not many
UA-cam Championship What om earth are you talking about? Are you still hanging on to the fact that you are wrong about StabiliTrak and TC? I actually own some of these cars. I know how they work. No point in spending more time arguing with an uneducated fencepost.
Bought a 2017 Z51 a few months ago and have been wading through the modes as I get the opportunity. Still, your video shows how much more I have to learn. Excellent tutorial! Keep up the good work.
Lol I thought I’ve already felt the 460 hp but I’m not sure I have… I keep the hp indicator on my dash and when gunning it from a roll in track mode with everything on the most I’ve seen on the indicator is maybe 370 hp… that’s already plenty and it pushes me back on my seat… Im not sure I can handle the full 460 hp… I’d really like to find a huge deserted parking lot without any light posts to find out so that if I lose control I’m not gonna slam into anything😂
i took the traction control off once and i was making a left turn at a light from being completely stopped and i was pushing the gas hard and my car spun out in a full 360 and i was lucky no cars were in the other lane. i actually like the traction on because i can gass it and as it looses control but i let go of the gas and it catches again perfect. im scared to take the traction control off after that incident where i could have crashed and died. i think majority of ppl die because they want to race on the fwy with the traction of and that is the worst thing you can do in a corvette!
I just ordered new 2019 from the dealer. This was very helpful. Thank you for speaking quickly :) cannot stand when videos take 90 seconds per syllable!! Very nice vid
At Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School at Spring Mountain Resort, they do NOT recommend the Track Mode for normal roads. If you hit a rut, it can break the wheel because the suspension does not have any give.
Exceptionally well done videos! If only all UA-cam makers had your sense of economy of editing / knowledge transfer ratio. And you have a pleasant, presentation voice & professional safety orientation. Finally, there is no ego or inanity; just well crafted, cohesive & factually entertaining information. ☆☆☆☆☆
I can’t imagine driving the C7 without TC enabled. It already has a happy tail end with it on. Haha it is nice to know however that I can hold the downshift paddle to downshift to the lowest gear possible. I love that. I’ll have to try it tomorrow!
Good info. How come when I change my drive mode the gauge configuration does not change automatically. I have to use the instrument manual and change it myself?
+WeOnlyLiveOnce You can actually change that on your infotainment screen in the settings. You'll need to change it to "Link to Drive Mode" then it will automatically change as you switch drive modes. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching 👍
best way to do that is pull the fuse that controls the exhaust valves. I did that right after we got our 2019 GS. We live in a rural area so noise is not an issue… no Karen’s to worry about 😂
Guys should I pick up a 2017 Z06 with Z07/3LZ package and carbon fiber, 4k miles for 71k USD? Or should I wait after the mid engine C8 is released? Would rear wheel drive corvettes go up in value eventually?
Nice tutorial. I didn't know about the left paddle......however there is another facet to that that you didn't mention in the video. PERFORMANCE SHIFTING. By stomping the accelerator to the floor and immediately letting off it, the transmission also drops into the lowest gear for the speed you are at, and a message shows on the screen "PERFORMANCE SHIFTING ACTIVE". Forget the dang paddles, they are a gimmick and too slow. Performance shift mode upshifts AND downshifts faster than you can think it! The car truly becomes a beast (a dangerous beast if you have turned off stabilitrak). Try it....you'll love it.
just pull the right fuse and the valves are always open. Since I live in a rural area and noise is not an issue I did this right after we got our 2019 GS
@@robskully3539 Thanks, that's exactly what I did after researching which fuse I needed to pull for the 2019 model since it changed throughout the C7 run.
@@CashMullen-ng4sr Mine is also a 2019 Grand Sport and I had to make sure it was the right fuse also. But what I have to do now is double check to see if they really are open. I watched another video from someone and they said to make sure to pull the fuse when the exhaust valves are already open.
Good info thanks. I have a used 2015 ZO6. Love it. My one question. After a short ride , 8 miles, will say . My exhaust tips have black soot. Is this NORMAL. I must say I do punch it a few times. Even launch mode . Love the power.
This was a very informative video; I really like the new driving clips as well!! I don't own a Corvette (yet, but maybe someday 😁), but I found this pretty interesting to watch because I have a lot of similar features like this with my Challenger too. I did mean to ask, how do you like the 8 spd auto on your Stingray? I was torn between getting a 6 spd manual versus the 8 spd auto, but ended up buying the auto for my car because I realized it wasn't ideal for daily driving. I do like that these new automatics come with the fuel saving technology and the paddle shifters. Given all that, I am leaning again towards the automatic on the next car I buy, just because with all the power of the car, I think it would handle it better than I would with a manual gearbox.
Idk what I’m doing wrong. In my z06 I turn everything off and when I go to slide it it slides but almost immediately it cuts the drift. Even if I’m floored in 1st gear… same thing happens when I floor it from a dead stop. Does a weak mini burnout and that’s it. My m4 with less power would spin until I eased off the pedal
I've had Z06 scare me in tour mode a couple times mine is a manual transmission I had it brake loose in the light rain in 3rd gear with traction control on and a couple weeks ago in 2nd gear on dry roads with traction control on

Maybe in a huge empty parking lot lol. Mine tries to go sideways even in track mode. Sport mode is what I drive in. You can have fun and the car won’t try to wreck itself. 😂
I find the very helpful because I have a Corvette 2017 stingray
+Zombye Yt Thanks 👍
No point in spending more time arguing with an uneducated fencepost.
texastriguy you must be a democrat
Well done and thoughtful tutorial. Thank you.
Thank you for the clear and easy to understand overview. I'm still figuring out my car and this helps!
Bought a 2017 Z51 a few months ago and have been wading through the modes as I get the opportunity. Still, your video shows how much more I have to learn. Excellent tutorial! Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
My zo6 is in beast mode the second i push the start buttom
Lol I thought I’ve already felt the 460 hp but I’m not sure I have… I keep the hp indicator on my dash and when gunning it from a roll in track mode with everything on the most I’ve seen on the indicator is maybe 370 hp… that’s already plenty and it pushes me back on my seat… Im not sure I can handle the full 460 hp… I’d really like to find a huge deserted parking lot without any light posts to find out so that if I lose control I’m not gonna slam into anything😂
I turned off my traction control on my supercharged C5. I totaled it. I ain’t touching tc in my C7. Like you said, unforgiving. Great video.
i took the traction control off once and i was making a left turn at a light from being completely stopped and i was pushing the gas hard and my car spun out in a full 360 and i was lucky no cars were in the other lane. i actually like the traction on because i can gass it and as it looses control but i let go of the gas and it catches again perfect. im scared to take the traction control off after that incident where i could have crashed and died. i think majority of ppl die because they want to race on the fwy with the traction of and that is the worst thing you can do in a corvette!
I just ordered new 2019 from the dealer. This was very helpful. Thank you for speaking quickly :) cannot stand when videos take 90 seconds per syllable!! Very nice vid
Thanks I heard more from u than my salesmen , will have to check the power settings n gauge options
Nice information i didn’t know about my z06 even though i have it for one year !! Thank you
At Ron Fellows Corvette Driving School at Spring Mountain Resort, they do NOT recommend the Track Mode for normal roads. If you hit a rut, it can break the wheel because the suspension does not have any give.
Bob Kolquist sport mode is ok thought, right?
This must be why so many complain about their wheels breaking/cracking over at CF
Thank you for your inf. I got vett 16. I learn well from you 😊
Exceptionally well done videos! If only all UA-cam makers had your sense of economy of editing / knowledge transfer ratio. And you have a pleasant, presentation voice & professional safety orientation. Finally, there is no ego or inanity; just well crafted, cohesive & factually entertaining information. ☆☆☆☆☆
Hey Steven, thanks so much for the kind feedback! I really appreciate it 👍
Cars, Costs and Technology so I must try this out because my Porsche seems to kick this nanny vets ass stingray 2019
I like the track mode cluster better .Is there a way to keep the same mode in sport mode?
Yes. Go to the settings and play with the menus. You can make it stay in whatever one you like. You can also choose what HUD you like too
best way to do that is pull the fuse that controls the exhaust valves. I did that right after we got our 2019 GS. We live in a rural area so noise is not an issue… no Karen’s to worry about 😂
@@robskully3539 No need to pull the fuse !!
@@bassmantucci .. sorry I got confused… I thought he meant he wanted to keep the EXHAUST in Track mode all the time ;-)
Thank you just bough a 2017 z06 3LZ MANUAL and found this very helpful
i see there is a different exhaust mode in sport and track. can somebody tell me what trhe difference is? is it louder in track mode?
yup
perfect! THX
Superior video, well focused and presented. Thanks.
+John Adams Thank you!
I only have one question: Is the drive mode selector standard on both the Stingray and the Z06? I'm only asking because I'll buy a Stingray soon.
yes
DAN RYAN shit is hilarious in that mode haha. its amazing how quick it shifts. noobs need to not do reviews.
DAN RYAN u
When you turn off traction control if you press it twice and hold it it will go into a professional race mode 1 2 3 and race
Great information!! Didn't know about holding the left paddle. Will try that soon. Thanks
Are the exhaust flaps wide open for both "Sport" and "Track" modes? Or only "Track" mode? I want to drive full time with the exhaust wide open.
just pull the right fuse and the valves are always open.
@@robskully3539 Correct, its a quick 10 second visual check to see whether the valves are fully open.
@@CashMullen-ng4sr I haven’t looked yet but you are saying that I can just look into the exhaust pipes and see the valves ?
Thank you very much!!!
Do I still get enough power for the c7? Or should I go for z06 please comment me?
I do this in my 4 wheel drive truck when offroading.
This was great! Thanks bro
Good info thanks. I have a used 2015 ZO6. Love it. My one question. After a short ride , 8 miles, will say . My exhaust tips have black soot. Is this NORMAL. I must say I do punch it a few times. Even launch mode . Love the power.
Yes, that's normal. It bothered me too, but it's easy to clean.
@@CarsCostsandTechnology Thanks
Love my A8 auto Z51.
that's the music that goes so well with your blogs.....nice nice nice music bro keep up the great professional views love them a lot
Thanks man 👍
Excellent video. Very useful information. Thank you.
Thanks 👍🏻
Idk what I’m doing wrong. In my z06 I turn everything off and when I go to slide it it slides but almost immediately it cuts the drift. Even if I’m floored in 1st gear… same thing happens when I floor it from a dead stop. Does a weak mini burnout and that’s it. My m4 with less power would spin until I eased off the pedal
I would like to ask a question, why my C7 switch mode, the screen does not look like yours?
Should've bought a 7 speed
thank you for sharing
My Tr mode has a different looking selection (when you press 2x) Do I press it again, twice? Never seen that screen, or idk how 2 get there...
Good info 👍🏾
I've had Z06 scare me in tour mode a couple times mine is a manual transmission I had it brake loose in the light rain in 3rd gear with traction control on and a couple weeks ago in 2nd gear on dry roads with traction control on
I've had several corvettes and thank you for the video. It sure helps to figure some things without reading the manual, lol. Peace.
Really informative video. Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback 👍
I daily on track with stabilitrak off, i would only recommend doing so if you enjoy hooning.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for watching!

I never understood why it's recommended to turn of traction control during drag races, or...any time.
Thanks I learned a few things! I'll have to try them out!
