    I see many in the comment section fumbling for the meaning of kuji-in/kiri. What's shocking to see, as an academic, is Antony being just as lost, as if he never learned to research, find and investigate sources. I'll help out.
    The original text from the Bàopǔ zǐ reads: 临兵斗者皆数组前行" (lín bīng dòu zhě jiē shǔ zǔ qián xíng), and it's and incantation which basically asks celestial guardians to act as your vanguard. Here are some various translations:
    "May the presiders over warriors be my vanguard."
    "Celestial soldiers, descend and arrange yourselves in front of me."
    "Celestial soldiers, all arrange yourselves in front of me."
    The mudra was added later by Buddhists, and when it came to Japan it was adopted and transformed to suit the Japanese.

    In my opinion, as a security type.. The ghost warriors would be between you/ us and the danger. So where they are is where the danger is coming from.

      *Yes many western kids being ninja wannabe doesnt know that kuji kiri and kuji in was first introducted in taoism/daoism magic ancient text named baopuzi (280-340 ADE) in the book chapter 17 verse 5 Baopuzi said:*
      *"To enter a mountain (and forest), choose an auspicious day, take silk of five colors, with each of them five inches wide and place it on a large rock and You will succeed in your goal. When entering the mountain, know the Liu-Jia Secret Spell."*
      *Liu jia is a 6 ancient god's of daoism, the spell of liu jia meaning the nine syllables, it goes 临兵斗者皆阵列前行 ( Lin,Bing,Dou,She,Jie,Shu,Jzhu,Qian,Xing ) meaning "Celestial soldiers/fighters/warrior, All arrange yourselves and proceed forward.* *The kuji kiri and kuji in was spreaded to vajrayana buddhism by a daoism priest, and now the buddhism monks used the 9 sign gesture when doing meditation. And then the buddhism monks spread this 9 sign gesture ( Kuji in and kuji kiri ) to tibet vajrayana, and then it was spreaded to shinto ritual, and it become shugendo.* *The kuji kiri in japanese was shouted as "Rin,Pyo,Tho,Sha,Kai,Jin,Retsu,Zai,Zen" but the original was shouted as "Lin,Bing,Dou,She,Jie,Shu,Zhu,Qian,Xing"*
      *the kuji kiri and kuji in it was used for protection and making a hard mission become easy, you will be avoided by any danger like animals,or accident when you doing your mission or going on somewhere, and it was used to make everything goes easy like when a ninja were chased by the samurai they would do kuji kiri to make everything become easier so he can be calm and doing all his mission succesfully"*

    I've heard it all three ways before myself..rather confusing. I've even seen the mudra done in different ways too..even in the video Kawakami-san uses a diffrent Rin mudra than the one I've commonly seen. His version he used was with his middle fingers, the most common one I've seen is with the index fingers..usually with the fingers laced in a way that the fingernails aren't showing.

    • @Azeez89
      @Azeez89 4 роки тому +1

      yes there are different Mudras for cheach of the 9 Seals, each one relates to a different function. (i.e the RIN mudra he used in the video is more about experiencing strength while the one you describe is more an assertion of strength)

    • @ShinKyuubi
      @ShinKyuubi 4 роки тому

      @@Azeez89 And pretty much everything between Hyo and Kai is murder on my fingers lol..seriously though.. the most commonly seen version Toh and Sha are right murder on my fingers because I don't have long nimble fingers but stubbier fingers..but I've practiced hard and I can do them quite easily now..my fingers just don't extend far enough into the 'eyes' for the Sha hand mudra to look quite as proper as someone who has longer fingers. Tbh they are quite good for finger dexterity practice to help with that issue.

    Hollywood has given us different depictions of Mudras, such as the 9 Mudras of Ninjitsu, the Shaolin Mudras of the Wuhan Temples (that stay within the temples there) & would be super helpful to separate real from fake based on what researchers of Ninjutsu such as myself want to learn more about, cheers!!

    Idk when it comes to the nindo channel, I'm having a hard time looking past the bright red karate uniform his assistant wears. I can look past the into, I can look past his outfit, but the bright red karate uniform. I just can't. I tried but I can't. Unless your in a FULLY BRIGHT RED ROOM, or every one in the area is dressed in red, there's virtually no situation where a modern or historical ninja would wear Bright Red! Traditionally they would wear Navy blue, dark grey, brown, you know colors found in nature. The ninja didn't want to be noticed THAT'S THEIR WHOLE POINT! THE ONLY WAY SHE COULD BE MORE OBVIOUS IS HUNTERS ORANGE AND EVEN THEN NOWADAYS PEOPLE WOULD JUST ASSUME SHE WAS A HUNTER! Im sorry I just had to get that off my chest.
