As soon as you get in your cabin.... make sure EVERYTHING WORKS! Check all outlets...lamps, TV. pull back your bedding to ensure it is clean (no bedbugs). The sooner you let your attendant know what is needed....the much quicker it can be taken care of.

I totally agree that "2 bathrooms is better than 1 balcony". Unless you book a multi-room suite, having more than 2 people in 1 cabin results in there being a sofa bed and/or a bed (or 2 beds) that fold down from the ceiling that can be a hazard to navigation and/or that prevent you from opening certain drawers, when they are open/down.

Thanks for the tip about the key card for the lights! We leave in a few weeks and I remember what a pain that was in the past with needing things to charge.

@daynacjones - It is a good tip. Instead of using a library or other card you'd hate to lose if you inadvertently left it behind, why not pick up a store gift card blank to use instead... or use an expired/used card. No loss if you forget it. You might even load money on an Amazon card and gift it to your cabin steward with a cash tip on your way off the ship. Clean out your wallet for any unneeded cards or other things you might have in there.
Have fun on your trip... safe travels! 🛳😃🎉

Brilliant - I've been cruising since 1979 and learnt so much for the cruise I'm doing next week. Thank you.

NCL Joy should have the person in charge of cabin Stewart inspections of the vents . Last month we were on Joy . And pulled back the mesh to see filled with dirt and dust . We were breathing dirty air , went home sick with Covid .

A flat iron for hair straightening can help touch hems and sleeves in your clothing, particularly when used with wrinkle spray.

You can make your own "wrinkle spray"...1 tablespoon of Downy in a small spray bottle of water will do it.

There will be four of us in the smallest interior room so some of these suggestions are really handy for us.

2 rooms are better than a balcony. Mom was usually in my cabin cause my dad was always either hogging the bathroom or snoring so loud she couldn't sleep. He also doesn't like the ac on and the 2 of us are like artic queens. Our rooms were next to eachother and were ocean view.

I always travel with a heavy duty extension cord and a multi charger. Cabins may have only one outlet. 3M detachable hangers/hooks do not leave a residue or scratches some can hold as much as 5 pounds.

And you pack the night before to make the morning easier. Pack everything but what you need in the 12 hours. That’s usually your pjs -!: toiletries

Not on every ship walls are metal and those hooks which you are suggesting hold only very light items. In my experience, it is a waste of money.

3M offers a wide variety of hanger/hooks that detach and do not leave residue or scratches. Some hangers can hold up to 5 pounds. They are unaffected by moisture so can be applied in shower areas.

Hanging vertically on the ceiling (instead of the walls) bears a lot more weight. Also we doubled up on the small hooks for heavier items. The bigger ones worked very well on their own.

What you call “Door decorations” I would call something not allowed on here! Thank s to cruise companies that don’t allow this. I don’t like walking to my room being reminded of my town’s garbage dump…

Too much extra stuff to drag along. No need for any of it. Cruised since the 80s. Sounds more like a hoarder traveling with their hoard, and justifying it. Leave all this stuff at home.
