My husband had hystiocytosis aged 7 and survived by having chemotherapy back in 1973 but it’s left him with very complex medical issues. I would love to know more about what this disease is, how it’s treated today and what causes it. Also, any new knowledge that could help my husband have a better life and potentially a longer life.
My father had Alzheimer's and my mom has dementia, and I don't drink. They were both alcoholics and my mom stopped cold turkey ~30 years ago and her brain is much better. I'd never recommend anyone in my situation drink.
Both of my husbands grandpas and his dad were all alcoholics and had high cholesterol and both grandpas died from Alzheimer’s and his dad got dementia at 59 and is practically a vegetable in a nursing home at 67. Alcohol definitely has an effect. I also know two people who were health freaks but had a grass fed farm and ate a ton of red meat and both her and her husband have dementia, both before they were 70. They didn’t drink or consume sugar but had really high cholesterol.
Hi - we will follow up through FitnessGenes on the questions from the video. I will add a section on APOE2, and discuss its protective properties. I will let you know when we post the video. Best, Stuart
Your grandma is probably ApoE 2/3. People with that ApoE status can drink and smoke and still live a long life. It would be so cool if you could get her tested ❤
I love the analogy that compares genetic risk to crossing a 5-lane motorway versus a 100-lane one. You might make it across safely in either case (or indeed get hit in either case), but the chances of getting hit are significantly higher with more lanes!
"Religion" won't help .... but Jesus will. Knowing why you are here, what the purpose of your life is .... and where you are going when you die .... brings inner peace ... and that can lead to a long life.

Great information. Thank you.
I am Apoe2/3. There are THOUSANDS of podcasts on Apoe4 but very little on Apoe2. Please do a podcast on Apoe2.

Would love to know more about the association of BH4 recycling issues and MTHFR polymorphism are associated with dementia
a strong faith in God with regular religious practices extends life by up to 7-14 years according to blue zone data

Oh - so folks of other religions won’t benefit from their religious beliefs and practices - only the believers in Jesus will?!
