Hang out up by the handles and put weights, or something weighty, in it and blow dry the canvas to soften it and reshape with the weights as it cools.

If she got a piece of wood the same size or a little smaller than the base, 1added some weights, hung from the handles, and blow dried the canvas it might remove the wrinkles. It is the only thing I can see helping.

I purchased it from Bag, Borrow, or Steal and it was final sale. There were photos of it but it was my first LV purchase and I didn't realize this was damage that I wouldn't be able to fix. I didn't know any better. I was swayed by the price which was a few hundred lower than other Trevi bags at the time. Live and learn.

You could try to open the lining with a stitch opener & then you would have access to the true inside of the bag to stuff it with some air bag packaging material . (Amazon always ships items with it.) Then you could sew the lining back up & your bag would be shaped better without being too hard or too stiff from the air bags.

This is a real problem especially as you are so fond of the bag. You need LV or an expert to give you a quote. It’s quite obvious, now that you have mentioned it, that the lining is the problem. This, as somebody has mentioned, should be a manufacturing fault. It therefore should be given to LV to give their opinion if nothing else. You might mention that their reputation is at stake especially with your you-tube following. I would make a big deal of this with them. But then I have an attitude when it comes to dealing with power ! ! They are after all a massive operation.
Best of luck. Keep is informed. X

I have a DE6 key holder that is off center when closed, and I used a hairdryer and clips to try to reshape and it worked. I can’t imagine the frustration of trying to reshape your bag. Looks like the best option is having the lining removed and resized, unless you are willing to use a hairdryer each time you carried it. Best of luck.

How about storing it upside down, propped onto narrowish magazine rack perhaps? Not the prettiest display mechanism, but gravity will work with you then at least?
I think you’re right about it needing the professionals at it, but working with the hair dryer on one spot at a time (ie day) and setting hard with the cool shot of the hair dryer may help a little if the professional repair is out of reach.

If it were me, and ONLY if it were me and I planned on never getting rid of the bag, I would cut the lining in a nice clean cut slit in the bottom of the bag, then stuff the bag until I get the shape that I want...then blow dry it and heat it up, then leave it that way stuffed, and hang it with a long strap by the d-rings and let it rest, stuffed and shaped for a month..then put a base shaper/organizer in. I wouldn't resew the lining as it is obviously too small for the bag. The slit would be covered by the purse organizer/ base shaper. There are several places that make custom base shaper, purse organizers, that is what I would do, if it were my bag. The reason that I say this is because my speedy b 25 in episode 2017 has a denting problem on the top and it is CLEAR to me that the issue is that the lining is actually a bit too tight in the bag. Just a wee too small, but LV doesn't see it as a flaw (well, the SAs anyway) I don't think they are all trained the same way.

I think that the problem really is the lining. I'd cut the lining and insert a bag organiser, as the real problem is the bag isn't having weight to pull out the material.?

  • @StephDiane84
    @StephDiane84 5 років тому +2

What about weights? Like a 10-20 lb. weight to stretch it down, then stuff the bag (with the weights still in the bag) to the shape you want, and then blow dry the bag so that as it cools, all of the things in there will help to maintain the shape you created

I feel your pain. In reading some of the other comments I agree perhaps you may find somebody to fix it but perhaps not I would split the lining open stuff it and weight it hang it from the handles and hairdryer it into the shape that it should be make sure the stuffing and the weight keep it that way and let it harden up again. You may have to hair dryer it a couple of times trying to work out the wrinkles and then leave it that way for at least a week. I also think that this bag should be hung on a hook and never stored up right. I must say however that the malleable quality of Canvas is what I like about it best

The front still looks great . I think the problem might be that you are trying to fix it from the inside . When you stuff it there is only pressure on the inside. Maybe there needs to be force from the inside and outside like a press. could you try putting the dob kit inside the bag then setting it in a deep box and stuffing the cavity around it. Or work on one side at a time and press between two books kind of like pressing a leaf. Since you are a teacher you could ask the science or physics teacher about this. I can’t quite explain it scientifically but maybe something about opposing forces or some law of physics . Anyway that’s what I would try . Good luck and remember it’s still a beautiful bag . Sometimes the things that challenge us turn out to be most rewarding because of the challenge

She needs her own channel but she'll have to figure out how to do it on her own. I don't have time. ;)

I really wish I knew what to recommend for you to do I have heard the blow drying method although I’ve never seen before & after results from any youtubers before I still have my Trevi Pm and weirdly the lining goes all the way down to the bottom at least from what I remember I haven’t used it in awhile I’m going to check it out when I go home there is a place in NJ called Rago brothers I’m not sure if that’s the place Grace recommend because I’m typing as I’m watching and I missed the name I wonder if they could help I think most of the bag restoration places work with leather not many are knowledgeable when it comes to LV canvas I am so so careful with my Trevi from watching you fight with your bag I don’t want that to happen to mine I think sadly that’s why it’s been sitting in the closet my most used bags right now are my Givenchy antigona and my Melie the Melie is so squishy I actually love that it’s squishy ! Your doggie is so so adorable ,my Sophie is such a good chihuahua I’m so glad we chose to adopt her they really bring such joy I agree you need to find a professional to remove the liner reshape the bag and then reattach the liner it really is 1 of their most beautiful bags I think I hope you find a fix for it Autumn xo

Which means that this lining was not the right one for this bag. LV needs to replace it. When they do that, they will no doubt reshape the bag.

Sherry Cohen I’m wondering if you could be right because I have the Trevi in the Pm size , my lining goes all the way to the bottom , I wonder if the lining not fitting correctly could be a defect on LV’s part , either way it would be nice for Autumn if they took it and repaired the issue, considering they produced the bag !

Thank you. Next time I'm at LV (probably won't be until after the New Year because I don't want to deal with Galleria crowds and traffic) I'll ask them about removing the lining and reshaping it. I hope they can do it and that it won't cost an arm and a leg.

I was thinking about this as I was folding laundry (when good ideas come to me!). My first luxury purchase was a Gucci shoulder bag at Bloomingdale's. It had a nylon lining, which tore. Bloomingdale's gave me a hard time about fixing it, even though I had the receipt that proved I bought it there. They fixed it for free. Many people who bought the Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis complained of different problems with their bags and the company vehemently denied there were any issues. Someone returned it to the company and bought something else and then a year or so later bought another Pochette Metis. No issues! Also, they changed something else on the bag, but that's neither here nor there. If I were you, I would go back to the store and insist that they send it for a new lining that fits properly. I'm sure it will come back in good shape. Even if you have to pay, it will be worth it if you could stuff it with sealed air bags to keep its [fixed] shape. You would then get a lot more use out of it. Also, another thought. Have the boyfriend take it in. There is still a lot of sexism out there. They may take him more seriously, especially if he hints that he will get you something new to go inside the bag once it's repaired properly.

Good ideas. Thank you. I should try taking it in to LV again and seeing what they'd say.
