Exploring a new part of Bangkok, Thailand

- Let's get lost in Bangkok and go explore a part of town I've never been to. I'm always in Sukhumvit and it's time to take you on an immersive trip to a different part of town.
Bangkok is a city of things to do. And in this video, I'll see Thai Street Food in action, ride a canal boat, bump into a Kratom shop, and hopefully not die on a motorbike taxi.

You alway's make me feel good about the decision i made 15 year ago to live here. You Have the best content about Thailand.
Too hot,brain dont work ...
Im so envious. I just spent my 1st week ever there, and fell in love with the place.
All i can think about now is how to plan to move there.
I think you should leave thailand and go to your home country
Went to BKK last May 30, spending only 4 nights. Then came back June 23, I had someone with me up until 25 then I went solo until July 1. It was an amazing experience. I just stayed in the city center, immersed myself with lots of people, traffic and huge malls, fan girl with Thai actors followed them on events.. rode Grab bike and experienced the lane splitting myself it was terrifyingly exciting! I love it there, I cannot wait to go back. I have been to some other asian countries not sure why I delayed visiting here, but I guess it must be the perfect timing for me to appreciate this country a lot better. Thank you Chris for always showing Thailand to the world!
Chris im am half thai and live in sweden but want to love to thailand and work over there, Would be fun if you can do a video of foreigner working in thailand, what they work with and how they got the job. Love your videos keep up!
RU Pier is actually Ramkhamhang University Pier. They make it short as RU Pier. I recommend using word "Ramkhamhang" for this area. :)

I'm living in Bangkok. 10-20 years ago the color of canal was very black. Wow. Our canal is clean😊😊😊😊😊❤.
10:00 thats exactly what made me like Hong Kong more than Tokyo, and why my first trip to Bangkok reminded me of Hong Kong as well.
The fact that it has so much character, good AND "bad" (not really bad, but a bit dirty in places).
It actually makes it more appealing, than merely a clinically clean perfect city like Tokyo.
I love the contrast of seeing poor slums with workers having 30 baht noodles, literally right across the street from a super tall office skyscraper with businessmen and women walking about their day. And everyone just gets along, because they're mixed in with each other.
Rich or poor, everyone can have a stroll through the luxury malls or peaceful temples.
There's definetly a class distinction, but also not the same way as in the west.
You're never gonna see a banker have lunch at the same place as a construction worker in EU, frankly in most cases they wont even talk to each other.
One week the last day here with family of five, we had all foods got aircon in place. So far, foods portion are so small, couldn’t handle the taste of local foods. Hot , my ten years old one are start whinging. The only thing he likes is hop in the pool, luckily we back home tonight. Going to snowing next week. Can’t wait 😂
For me Hongkok was clean and very green. I would say Bangkok is more like Shanghai.
We stayed a bit further up near Wat Klang Pier in January. Not many food choices in Lat Phrao 130, so went for a walk east toward the mosque via the river on the northern bank. Some cool little plant shops. The mosque had a graduation day on and they welcomed us in for beef noodles on the plastic stool. Wat Klang pier also has a nice Cafe right nearby. Interesting neighbourhood. I am definitely going to take to the boat for some exploring next visit ❤
I love this random trip you took us on. It feels great to go there without using my car. Given you started your boat trip out in Rama 9 and ended up where there were large mosque, my guess is you ended up in the Pravet Section of BKK. That's on the way to the Suvannabhumi Int'l Airport and along the Motorway that takes you to Pattaya. What a great way to travel!!! It gave me great vibes about southeastern section of BKK. Thanks!!!
I spent a month in Bangkok this past-May and really enjoyed it there! My favorite city is still Chiang Mai due to less traffic but I would still highly recommend visiting Bangkok.
Not far from here is the area called Krungthep Kreetha which is where the rich Thai people live. Most of houses in that area are Guard-gated Community and prices could easily reach Bt100million. Since you’ve been touring mostly Condos in Bkk, but not the mansions or big houses. So why not showing the world how the rich Thai ppl live. The houses are mostly for sale but some can be rented. A lot are open houses and you can book that before going.
This is a good idea.
The Ruam Sab Market and pad krapow lady. I was there 3 times last week, it was fantastic!!
Would LOVE to see more videos like this.
Great format.
Just open-ended exploration, but still with a vague destination and goal.
Minimal editing. "Walk-along-with-me" style. Excellent.
We’ve explored some of Bangkok, but have never ventured there.
Thank you Chris.
Do more videos like this one Chris. Uncut, no script…just you and BKK.
Although he was speaking of China in an episode on Shanghai, I will quote the late, great Anthony Bourdain. The one thing I know about Bangkok is I will never know Bangkok. There's not enough time. Great video.
Chris sweating here in the summer heat, waiting for vacation, not Bangkok but Berlin...you make great content
Great content and what a surprise to show your ambassadorial relationship with Thailand
Chris 🇹🇭The little flowers on the riverside are beautiful ☘️🌼🌸🌺🍀😀
Chris.. if you explore more neighborhoods in the future… pls take us with you :)
Love Krungtep as well :)
Hey Chris, my family and I spotted you while we were in our van and my wife chatted with you for a second. Super cool! Love following along on your adeventures. Take care and maybe we’ll bump into you again!
I'm so glad to have me in your video. I'm the one who asks if you're a UA-camr or not.
Really cool travel video of your journey to the interview. So run exploring cities.
วีดีโอของคุณมีชีวิตชีวามาก เรียลไทม์ สุดๆ ผมชอบน่ะ
Well done Chris! Excellent content as usual. 🎉
awesome video once again,...can't wait to get back to the land of smiles!!!!
Hi guy , today I've noticed that the images in your clips look nice and bright , like filming . Thanks you for your clip, guy
This reminds me more of your earlier videos, walking and talking. I really enjoyed it. Now I have to go watch your interview. Peace.
it's cool to hear that. that's the vibe i was going for. want to start doing more of these again.
@@RetiredWorkingForYou you've got a great mix of videos going, including your live streams. You're doing well and you'll be at 400k in no time. Peace
As thai, I still need to google where is RU pier haha. Full name is Ramkhamhaeng University pier or Tha-Mahavitayalai-Ramkhamhaeng or in short Tha-Mor-Ram
I like that you find an interesting way to present yourself.
Chris! That motorcycle shop was a local seller of new bikes. Rentals are more random in their selection. The sign on the motorcycle also said "Free down payment!".
Love this live video. Feeling great to see a normal routine life. Thanks.
Love all your videos. This one is excellent and informative. I would love to see some videos on how to go about looking for a good hotel to stay in while you are traveling in Thailand. Places like Chiangmai, Phuket , chiangRai and Esan. ? That would be a great to see. Thank you
pretty cool video i didn't know you can travel by boat in bangkok looks cool
Chris, you need to get out of downtown more na krub ! Ram soi 53 is'nt that far out !! Ramkhamhaeng is a fantastic area the stadium is there , Muslim area with great food and people. I used to take Saen Sap canal boat to work in Asoke from Wat Si Bun Rung every day. Your tip for Motor Sai I agree - keep those knees in tight and if the motor bike ride is scary then knees i and eyes closed ! Ramkhamhaeng has many foreigners living there as there are so many international schools.
I been their, I walked therefrom Ekamine. Loved walking around like you, so much fun. You have there the best fried chicken near by, but you got to get there before Lunch. She sells out and packs up and goes home.
After watching this video i feel like bookin a plane ticket back to bkk now ☺
nice film work with the train going into the high rises at the start. the quality of a high end movie .really good.
i really appreciate this comment....thanks for making me feel good this morning!!
Coming to Bangkok in a few days, I'm in Tokyo right now though. If I see you around Bangkok I'll buy you a beer! Thanks for all the cool videos 👍
I have been to Bangkok many times. I enjoy watching these kinds of videos, though, as they/you introduce new parts that I have not been able to see yet. We will mostly be in central Bangkok next month when we visit before heading down south to Khanom.
If you get on ferry at Taprajan, you will find Wang-Lung(the Back Palace) neighborhood. There is a market which is famous for Thai snack. Wang-Lung is close to Sriraj Hospital. The hospital where the late king live until he died. That area's surrounded by many medical supply stores. There are also a couple of daily sharing working space with a good view of Chaopraya river.
For those who want to explore other part of Bangkok, started from there is not far.
Gotta say great content and some very helpful information about Thailand. Thanks.😎
I suggest you do what I’ve done many times in major cities including Bangkok, get on a local bus or canalboat and ride it 30-45 minutes, get off and start walking home.
Had many nice walks in Bangkok, London, Berlin etc.
Aim for one of the 149 sub districts of Bangkok maybe check them of a list.
Amazing thanks for sharing once again
I've been in the Bang Kapi area once. It's quite nice.
(Some parts of) Ramkhamhaeng is already covered by the MRT Yellow Line, but it'll be also covered by the MRT Orange Line as well
Really like your exploring
Thanks Chris. This is the way I love to explore BKK too. If you are wary of motorcycle taxis, like my wife, you can take the BTS to station Ratchathewi and it's fairly short walk to the Hua Chang pier that gets you on the same water taxi route. Just ordered Issue 1 and 2 of the magazine!
I like you. Thank you so much for your love for Thailand. from now on This country will not only be ours, but Thailand will be yours. Please save it, and we'll work hard to preserve it, too. Thank you very much
Well said, thanks!
Oh damn that WAS you on that bike!! I was walking down the street pretty close to where u got on and I thought ”whoah was that him?” and heres the video! 😂🎉
Thanks for the videos! Made my stay in bangkok worthwhile!
I'm amazed that you are out there with that high sun on your head, I would need a hat or I'd have a headache. I hear Thailand is kinda like my Florida when it comes to the hot humidity.
Beautiful video, as always, love seeing everything you have to share :)
Kratom is great for people who live outdoors in thailand, them can change hot to chill when you drink
Nice video Chris, I liked the filming style. May I know which camera & lens was used to record this video? Thanks
I hope, when you get back, you will make more of these exploring Bangkok tours.
I would like to know where you were (15:30), but you said Ramkamheng 53 and after that you said Hok sip saam (63) in Thai. 😋
Just kidding about that. It looks so different when you leave the Sukhumvit area for sure. I used to take busses, boats, Sky trains and so on and just get out somewhere I've never been....loved the strolls I made
Next time, go a little further to Minburi and even on to Nong Chok... you won't regret it. I'll show you around and provide the broccoli!
Used to ride that short cut soi towards Ramkhamhang, when you go over that bridge the opposite direction you really notice the different smell of beef and lamb. No pork. Doing it on sunset the call for pray is some how romantic, heading into another part of Thailand You should go to the university grounds at night. Lots of People excise and play sports. They have night market. And on Rumkhamhang road, I would say the longest sidewalk street market in Bangkok I would say. I thought you was heading towards the mall Bangkapi, couple stops up the klong, and there is a neat box ferry attached to a wire you get from one side to the other. I dare you to try. Got the get across before next boat comes 😅
Good to see you out of Farang Bangkok kartom is used to get of opioids addiction I've heard it has mixed results
Nice Eyes of The World on the boat ride! :)
Great video Chris- so interesting to see other areas of Bangkok - definitely something I want to do once we relocate to Thailand. I went past the motorbike stand at Asoke the other week and I notice they have a cat in a little hi-vis vest with a number (suppose that is mascat rather than a mascot)
Chris, your videos are fantastic! I'm currently in Bangkok, and I've been following your tips for exploration walks.
Oh amazing Thailand
The visuals are great! Out of curiosity, can you tell us the camera that you use?
I live on Kratom!! We dry it and mix it with water. We also have it in pillform and extracts! Big in Hawaii and Vegas. Great way to lose weight and get OFF OPIOIDS!!!!!
Good Job! Hope sometime to be able drink a beer with you 🙂
I'm a big fan of your channel Chris.
I agree with you that Thais can teach us a lot about how to treat strangers, and I enjoy your presentation style. One thing: rather than regret the lack of English of the ticket sellers on the klong boats, shouldn't you be the one who learns more the language of the country you are living in? I believe your understanding of Thailand would be greatly enhanced.
back in a past life I used to work as an PICU nurse in Long Beach CA. Many of our patients and family members don't speak English, so I would have to rely on written Spanish, assuming everyone was able to read it! Yeah, sometimes that doesn't go so well either... I could anticipate that might be an issue on the klong boats staffing challenge?
cheers brother!
ron:)
Welcome to Thailand
Great vid as always Chris. We are looking forward to our next 2-month visit to Thailand and beyond from November 23 to January 25 and it would be brilliant if we met you on one of your meet-ups when we are over there. We will celebrate our 20-year wedding anniversary on December 19 and although my wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at just 50, four years ago, we still travel together everywhere like Siamese Twins!
Chris, 53 is "Ha sip Sam" 😇🤘🏽🤙🏾
55555😂
Next time I get to Thailand I am visiting this part of town
I think U Should visit Suk Sawat sometime if you're out in that area. I lived in different parts of Thailand for about 20 years and while I was in Bangkok I used to enjoy visits to Suk Sawat. It might have changed a lot since then (2015 or so), but I rarely ever saw another foreigner. Got into eome real old Thai culture. Most of my time was spent in Chiang Rai where I had an apartment, motorbike, GF, and an older Toyota for the rainy days and rare days when it was too cold to ride.
Thanks!
well that was nice of ya!
I love this video.
Yeah 100%. BKK is a cool adventure..
nice vid Chriss, just wondering....where do you get all the awkward shirts from?
Would be very nice to let the viewer know where you are and where you are going. A bit too long to 'wait and see' for those of us who know Bangkok.
I'm Sam , fell in love your vedio and hit follow.
Thanks ❤❤❤
Good for you Chris! Getting outside of Sukumvit. My first time in Bangkok I spent most of my time on the Thonburi side of town and got to know some great people & neighbors. ❤️ I'm sure you'll have similar experiences and I can't wait to see the next stories. 🎉
I have lived in Mogadishu for five years, but nobody wants to interview me. So sad!
Love motorbike taxis. Fast and cheap.
And dangerous as hell 😅
ชอบดูช่องคุณมากค่ะ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Why take the motorbike taxi, when you could’ve taken the MRT from Sukhumvit (connected to Asok BTS) to Phetchaburi (exit 2 takes you to Asok pier) which you misspoke Phetchabun a couple of times. Cheers, mate!
Its called 'Ketum' leaf ....which is close relative to Cannibis
Around my part of town!
On the canal boat how did you know which stop was yours to get off at?
Hey Chris, all is good and wonderfull Vlogs....just to comment on your camera being too bright in sun/day light.....not Exotic enough specially for BKK and the rest....my view only, cheers!
Hi i have been watching your videos, planning to travel to bangkok this end of the month i will arrive 7pm in survarnabhumi airport and same day to travel to phuket at 9pm is 2 hrs enough to reach domestic departures gate?
You know the rubber band trick that vendor show at 11:05 of this video? That's a trick a lot of street vendors can do. Will you able to do a video showing that trick in ultra-slow motion?
Nice one CP 👍
i miss there
It's interesting how the people change the way they talk and speak with an "American/Canadian" accent when they're talking to you.
Cool!
You've made so much adventures, Christ
Kratom has been used traditionally to treat diabetes,
(Reduce sugar in our blood stream.)
Great vid Chris
Thanks 👍
