Hi Chris, I am one of those people that you are talking about. I left Thailand when I was 20 years old for school and lived in the US for 55 years. When I retired, I watched a lot of UA-cam video about Bangkok and Thailand they all looked great so I decided to come back last November to live here and to see how I would feel about living here in Thailand. So far it has been 7 months and I love it. I like a quiet life so I decided to stay in Hua Hin and I love it here
I just got back from BKK 3 days ago and this was my 6th trip since January. Bangkok has both sides like most countries but I can tell you it's nothing compared to other countries. I feel more at home in Thailand than my own country. The food, the people and everything is top notch.
Very awesome video Chris!! It is refreshing to know that Thai's are noticing your channel and have questions for you as an expat in their country. I am most certain they appreciate the great charity work that you, Haley and your nephew have done like they many "Pay it Forwards" where you have helped so many Thai's during the pandemic. My wife Rung is Thai but at 50, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's almost four years ago and yet, we continue to travel around the world like Siamese twins. Thailand is a unique place and even with her illness we can travel the country without any issues and this includes having to go to the WC together which can be challenging elsewhere - especially in Laos. We have been following your channel since its inception and ed love your positivity towards the land of smiles. We are off to Thailand and elsewhere between Novrmber 23, 2023 to January 25, 2024 so if you arrange another meet- up please note this in your agenda because we would dearly love to spend some time in your company. We will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in Bsngkok on the 20th if December and having frequented Thailand more than 20 times since 1993 this one could be the most memorable - especially if we meet you! All our love, Frank & Rung x x x x
@@BeingFrankOnIpswichTown-jt2my Thai people with Alzheimer's will receive treatment from a doctor who specializes in the nervous system and brain. Especially in Thailand, there are doctors who have graduated in this field and have knowledge in this field and are trusted by countries around the world who come to treat in Thailand that are not as expensive as abroad and we have a doctor who can take care of you closely without having to make an appointment like a foreign country. Entering a private hospital is another good path in Thailand.
What an incredible perspective on life in Thailand. I agree 100% that it is a very unique country and every day it proves me right that I made the right choice in moving to Thailand!
I are agree to almost 100%. I'm from Norway, and 'we' are some of the most introvert people in the world. Maybe that's why I love Thailand, and the Thai people, so much.
Hi there I’m Thai but I been living aboard for the part 30 years I change 7 countries now I’m I live in rome I think the same that Thailand is the best country to live thank so much for promoting my country both of you and your wife are my hero ❤😘
I have lived in 8 countries, and visited 25. I guess the only continent I haven't been to is South America. Anyways, I also love Thailand, it's one of my favorite places in the world. I would love to live there one day when I save up enough money
Great video i been away from Thailand for over 40years at the age of 11 missing my childhood memories and the most beautiful humble simple life so glad got a chance to go back there finally in 2021 with my family it was the most amazing experience feeling i felt like a kid all the happy and sad memories had over come the sad memories was because i had to leave Thailand because that was my home and family but after all these years things turned out for the best for what it is my husband and I are planning to retire in Thailand soon ♥️Thailand and our people
All countries have good and bad sides. But the scale in Thailand just is so much tilted towards the good sides, with the amazing people. Due to my work I have been in 50 countries the last 30 years, many of them for several months, and hands down Thailand is by far the best of them all.
Honestly, I would give my left n*t to move to Thailand. As a US military veteran, it pains me(hurts in my heart) to see what is happening in my country. I am 56yrs old & disabled due to a failed back surgery, so I am on Disability, so I don't make enough money to qualify for the Retirement visa. Which is ironic due to the HUGE expense of living in the US... I lived in my vehicle for almost 2 years, but in Thailand I could actually afford an apartment of my own. I feel trapped here. 😞
See an agent in Pattaya. You do not have to have all that money in the bank, and it is not illegal, if it was then the agents would have been shut down long ago.
Feel for ya. Ozzie here. This is the reality of military service. We are just a number on a computer and when not usefull, soldiers get discarded. If you've got any good mates who do qualify, Ask them if you can share rent costs and just go (disappear)
Thank you to you Chris. You've restored the thin thread that I've nearly melted away since came to the UK 20 years ago. The more I watch the more the love to my homeland in my blood begin to get thicker and thicker. I've never thought I would go back there when I retire but now anything is possible as here in the UK everything is so very expensive! Keep doing what you doing and show some more of people who lives in Bann nok countryside. ❤
As someone who has been here for 6 years and a dad of a beautiful 3 year old little girl. I sometimes forget where I am. I have definitely forgotten how fortunate I am to be in such an amazing country. I love your videos, they are always refreshing and keeps me humble enough to remember what I have. Thank you for being so cool and humble 🙏🙏
Love you Chris! I am an Austrian citizen, married with a wonderful Thai woman, living here for 15 years now and I agree with you also 100%. I miss Austria and my hometown, yes, but my home is here now and I am happy and proud to live here in BKK. I watch all your videos and I try to find time to visit the BKK “secret” places to learn more about my new hometown. Kub Kuhn Krub dear Chris, stay awesome and also positive. Martin
And THAT video Chris is the best you've ever made!!! Australia is home but I find I am happiest when in Thailand so I keep coming back...my favourite food is #1 #2 and #3. Thailand as a country doesn't suffer from the chauvanism of developed countries

I visited for the first time in 2016. It was my first solo trip and when I left I felt so sad, like I was "homesick" for a place I had only just visited. Coming back for the third time next month.
Chris, your message is directly addressing my concerns. Been in the USA for close to 40 years but I have always felt that Thailand is my home. I am unsure if I can adjust. I really like this interview and thank you for putting and sharing your thoughts on this.
Hi Chris! I’m a Thai American and I can relate to everything you said about your friend Pip. I have been living in the US for 40 years. Just recently visited Thailand for two weeks after my last visit 14:years ago and I’m slowly reacquainting myself to Thailand again. Still trying to decide if I can see myself moving there one day. Your channel is really inspiring. Thank you for this great interview!
Thanks to Chris and other UA-camrs like him, I also plan to retire in Thailand. I was born in Bangkok and moved to the US with my dad to live with his first wife, who became my step mom, after my birth mum had pass when my brother and I were very young. We never thought about living in Thailand again until I spent a month with my childhood friend and his wife in Bang Khen... I was sold, and thanks to careful planning, my brother and I will be very comfortable. We look forward to fall in love with with my motherland once again. Thank you Chris
The amazing thing to me about Thailand is that it has many opportunities to be even more Amazing, and I see signs of work on problems like plastic, etc that other counties have not even begun to try to deal with including America. There are some very strong leaders here and good hearted youth who want their country to do even more and i'm not talking politics here, but more day to day living type issues. I came here in Peace Corps Thirty years ago and I and my wife of over Thirty years are in the process of moving back over the next year or two. I've learned to drive here recently. Every day is a new adventure, but the Thai people make it so much easier.
Chris, I first studied Thai in the Defense Language Institute in the US Marine Corps in 1969. After the Marines I went to Japan and have been here ever since. Been to Thailand many times but I often wish I had/should move to Thailand at some time in the near future. Keep up the good work Chris.
about 4 or 5 years and im at least 6 months a year in thailand im sure ill be asking you for rental advice. i plan to find a place on samui, where i feel so comfortable and excited to live... i really like where you are going with the videos Chris. thanks for your work!
Always enjoy your very informative and honest good-humoured posts. May beautiful countries that seem to have the most wonderful warm, people. Ever been to Brazil? I love Thailand and would like to spend time again there again. You help me paint those pix in my mind. I’m a Canadian also. Keep up the great work
I agree. As a foreigner visiting or spending a few weeks to a few months in that visiting country, Thailand is by far much better than Philippines & Vietnam. As a person who spends about 4-5 months of a year in Thailand, either I am happy or tolerate almost everything about Thailand EXCEPT the way people here drive or ride (a scooter). It is especially scary in Bangkok.. 😞😒
You were right, we become like a mad man when driving a car. It is hard to understand for outsiders and take a long time to improve 😂 but for me, I try my best to slow down my car anytime I realize the safety must come first. Thank you for your reflection.
As an outsider, it is easy to just see the positives of Thailand. We don't have the expectations of the Thai people on their society. That is huge. We are considered outsiders and are looked at differently. Also, we come to Thailand with western amounts of money and costs. Everything is so much more affordable than at home.
Yes, I agree. Whenever you turn yourself or consider yourself as a Thai citizen, not an outsider, you will face many things frustrating and see only negative thing here like many farangs who been living in Thailand for a while like 3-5 years so far. They are getting used to things that they had ever been excited for when they just moved to live here. They will see only problems as well as forget that they are just an outsider not a local. They start criticizing the gov. , the people blah blah blah. It seems that they are a bitter farang who cat go back to where they are from ( since it isnt good enough to live for now) and cant go on with the place they are living.

I love your content. I can say I have been to Thailand 5 times in 5 different years. I had a few small issues of course in between but I took away 90% positive experience throughout. I guess if you consider moving to Thailand and those that already do live there, they definitely have their own opinion. Everyone is different and its really about your own perception of things and life in general that reflects on your day and life anywhere in the world really. I am from New Zealand and I both love and hate New Zealand. But I always have a smile on my face daily as the people in my niche are positive people.
I love Thailand so much, I have been 6 times. Chiang Mai is where I want to retire in a few years time with my daughter. I'm from UK this country is a mess and so expensive, it is affordable to live in Thailand prices go up at a much slower rate.
You are a super positive bloke, Chris. And you've definitely sold me on Thailand. I am also someone who chooses not only to see the glass as half full but to be grateful I own a glass. Good comes to those who seek to do good. Thats you in spades, man
Recently at a family function I was talking to the girlfriend of young family member who moved to Australia when she was young. I felt really sad for her because not only was she disconnected from her family but from her culture. I then spent the next hour telling her how great Thailand was, I also mentioned about a few of us catching up for some Thai food but she explained that her partner doesn't like Thai food. My reaction was "well he'll just have to learn won't he?"
I'd recommend this magazine to interview the boat- fare collector, or the motorcycle guy who was holding an umbrella in this video. Try to ask them if they are offered with Green Card in the U.S. or permanent resident status in EU (along with their family), will they choose to migrate out of Thailand?
ผมรักประเทศไทย!! I so appreciate your comment about the Thai people!! I first went to Thailand in 82-83 as a Missionary for my Church. I fell in love with the people of Thailand (and the food) because of the warm, welcoming spirit of คนไทย (Thai people for those who don’t read or speak Thai)! My wife and I are going to be in Thailand in September. This will be my 4th trip back and I love your videos, because our dream is to live in Thailand after I retire. I would pull the trigger sooner, but I need to wait until I’m 65 to qualify for my pension and then also have our social security income. We know that we can live well in Thailand! We’re still trying to decide between Bangkok, Chiang Mai or a beach city; each have their pros and cons. Thank you for your videos!!
Perhaps perfection always has the essential good and negative elements that lie beneath the mind. That was a very special turning point for the country. Thailand is very relaxed in all matters, even if some things foreigners see as a bad thing, but when you analyze it carefully under your mind, you will find that the Thai way of life is what you are searching for and is the only thing that you really want. That's why Thailand is popular in almost every way. The main reason is because of people.
Hey Chris, that video of the lady food vendor is possibly my favorite of all time from all you tubers ever. I wanted to see more and was sad when it was over Great work mate G from Australia
Very interesting video! You are right, Chris, nowhere is perfect, but some places are just better than others. Also, some places just click with certain people. For me, Japan clicks.
I spent 2 months all over in thailand last year. Really enjoyed it. The sidewalks & roads can be dangerous to walk, very broken up but food delicious people gentle & welcoming. Weather too hot but AC helps
So interesting to listen to you Chris, and I agree with what you say about the Thai people, they are very easy going and seems to keep cool most of the time.😊😊😊😊😊
Am Thai, had lived in NZ for the last 14 years, I moved back to Koh Samui where I was born in Plai Laem, back to the root but had gains so much life experiences.
You look very sad here, it broke my heart. We have to see bad all the time, on tv, in newspapers, on social media. That is why I love your positivity and sometimes I just want to hear about the good. It wasn't too long ago you had to share about your daughter, who could have been so seriously injuried when her purse was stolen. I could see the pain of a father in that video on your face too. I think you are a positive person, so you generally will try and see the best in things. I appreciate you and your videos.
Chris, you nailed it. Been to Thailand six times while in the Navy. Lived in Phuket for a yr with my wife after retirement. 4 to 5 🌶 on scale of 10. 1 🌶 on scale of 3.... Thai people are amazing, only one bad person we meet in 14 months, even the ladyboys were really good people to us. Traffic is controlled chaos but would rather drive there than in the USA. At least I know it's chaos. You are one of two I watch in Thailand religiously, the other is pretty much never in the scene. He always has great content and shows so much about the area he is traveling. Even outside of Thailand. We want to move back to Thailand so bad. We'll get to soon. Cheers, keep up the great videos.
Can you touch a bit on doing business with Thai people as a foreigner? Let's say I want to get my kitchen renovated. I heard full payment is upfront, quality can be an issue and sometimes they do not complete what they promise. Thanks.
In the fist time I shock with your title of this video, becase "ถูกสอบปากคำ" is does'nt mean interviews in Thai but this word it's like a giving testimony to the police 🤣

Thailand has the best stem cell treatments for alzheimers.
@@cindym7978 I did not know that, so thanks Cindy 7978.
Just arrived today. Been coming here for almost 25 years. Multiple times a year … best country, best people.
Love it too!
@@possum1931 thank you! 🙏

@realthaifood2339 thanks!!
Martin
I'm from Canada and we also agree. Love the people, love the food! Scott and I love Thailand and can't wait to move there. ❤
And THAT video Chris is the best you've ever made!!! Australia is home but I find I am happiest when in Thailand so I keep coming back...my favourite food is #1 #2 and #3. Thailand as a country doesn't suffer from the chauvanism of developed countries
In Glasgow the city has an advertising campaign that states “People make Glasgow” the same can be said of Thailand “Thais make Thailand”
Be aware of the bad and do what you can to help but we do not have to feel responsible or become social justice warriors who feel compelled to signal their faux-virtue. In covering the country in a positive manner you are by definition improving the overall good.
Hi Chris! there's passion and depth in each and every video of yours and also love your humor. I am addicted.
Glad to see you making videos, mate. Keep up great work.
Chris, I first studied Thai in the Defense Language Institute in the US Marine Corps in 1969. After the Marines I went to Japan and have been here ever since. Been to Thailand many times but I often wish I had/should move to Thailand at some time in the near future. Keep up the good work Chris.
Hi Chris, it wasn’t like an interrogation. It’s a meeting to understand and get to know you better…. Another good video on your channel ❤
about 4 or 5 years and im at least 6 months a year in thailand im sure ill be asking you for rental advice. i plan to find a place on samui, where i feel so comfortable and excited to live... i really like where you are going with the videos Chris. thanks for your work!

Been married to a Thai for 14 years and have lived full time now in Chiang Mai for six years. I have no desire to return back to my home country.

Well done Chris.. I am American and have lived in Thailand for 8 years.. I will not go back to the US😊😊😊
I love to watch your channel because you are positive and have a good attitude.
Awesome Chris...i love Thailand
Chris is such a good dude
I agree about Thailand! I have been to Thailand two times this year…can’t wait for my third trip!
As a Thai, i just want to say thank you Chris. You understand Thailand.
10:23 You should have done this topic WHY THAIS ALWAYS SMILE? And interview Thai people.❤❤🇹🇭
I love Thailand so much, I have been 6 times.
Thats you in spades, man
Great video.
It's some of the things, I think about, when living here.
I don't like Thai food, and I don't have to. Get it??
Thank you Chris to represent our country, Appreciate that
That's really helpful and good reviews Chris, moving Phuket with family in end of June =)
❤ thank you for positive thinking for our Thailand. I understand you said but I can’t talk and typing more words. 😊
Gr8t interview! That will go down well! Love the part about your Thai/US Doc Mate✅✅
just luv all about Thailand!
could never have enough of it!💕
Thank you Chris, you speak for us in California, I went there 2 times and plan to come back and stay for 2-3 months and go from there.
I was in Bangkok for three months during a military coup, and I still unequivocally recommend Thailand as a holiday destination.

I'd recommend this magazine to interview the boat- fare collector, or the motorcycle guy who was holding an umbrella in this video. Try to ask them if they are offered with Green Card in the U.S. or permanent resident status in EU (along with their family), will they choose to migrate out of Thailand?
Living in Chiang Mai. I freaking love Thailand!
Thank you Chris Thailand is lucky to have you🎉
Negative stuff are things to be worked around. Positive stuff is to be enjoyed.
The main reason is because of people.
i havent seen him visit Thai mountain 🤗village resorts in chiang mai and chiang rai yet
Hey Chris, that video of the lady food vendor is possibly my favorite of all time from all you tubers ever. I wanted to see more and was sad when it was over

Great interview Chris 👌
The man is correct! The reason Chris loves it so much is because he genuinely loves the country and thailand in return, loves him. Very simple.

In the fist time I shock with your title of this video, becase "ถูกสอบปากคำ" is does'nt mean interviews in Thai but this word it's like a giving testimony to the police 🤣
It's the same in English. He's having fun with the word.
