Agreed, that’s why we have to teach our children from home to be kind and tolerant to others. Some of the worst things that were ever said to me were by my classmates when I was 12-13 years old. I still remember them even to this date. Forgave but never forgot.
Notice that Maribels clothes have more decoration than the rest of her family, like she customized them 🤔🤔🤔🤔 maybe creativity is her gift. Also notice that she starts to mess up on the accordion when everyone looks at her. the title means charm, which the main character has.
Maybe just maybe her gift is everything but she can only do it when nobody’s looking 🤷♀️

So maybe her gift is how charming she is? Like, a message that, yeah, other people may have gifts when it comes to doing fantastic things, but being a charming and caring person is just as valuable/not valued enough by society, especially in light of people who do fantastic things? Like, yeah Bill Gate's work affects everyone and makes things more convenient for people, but it rarely does anything personal for people, whereas being a decent human being will go miles for the individuals you come into contact with.

Given that she has clearly customized her dress and bag! Plus the accordion she was playing rlly well before her family looked at her , I think she DOES have a gift , art ! She’s an artist ,that’s her gift ,it’s not magical but at the same time it is.

So she has no quirk, in a world full of quirks. But she really wants one and is fascinated by them anyway.
So she'll still try to 'have a quirk' in some way but she won't succeed, and no one believes in her.

My hero in a nutshell
This looks like it's one of those stories whose moral is " The greatest adventure is not about an extraordinary person who goes out in the world to do good, it's about a good, ordinary person who is called to go out in the world to do something extraordinary."(edit: Thx so much for all the likes:) )
Disney has really done it with the animation. Flowers changing colors, moving floorboards and tiles, and a person shape shifting.
If the movie doesn’t turn out great, at least it’ll be eye candy. LOOK AT THOSE FLOWERS!

@@KyokiPon Disney owns Pixar, they can do whatever they want. Every Pixar movie is presented as Disney-Pixar.
On top of that, culture's not the problem, Disney has a habit of putting in easter eggs from a ton of previous movies of theirs.
Also Disney doesn't care about presenting cultures correctly, they'll probably get things wrong with the culture in this movie too.
@@anecro I don’t think Pixar and Disney have really done cross references. All the references in pixar movies have only been with pixar movies, like the pixar ball, nemo, toy story, etc. Same with Disney, they kinda stick with their own studio despite Disney owning them

218: Bravo for Walt Disney’s 60th upcoming animated film, Enchanto. Don’t know what the story is gonna be but I’m excited to see what it will be about. It’s giving me a mix of Frozen II and Coco.
I actually am expecting for once based off a trailer what this movie will be like. Because, this really does seem like a pretty good idea: Instead of 1 kid being special in a house of normals, it's 1 kid being normal in a house of specials.

Okay, even though Raya & The Last Dragon was a very good film, I somehow feel like I might end up liking Encanto better of the two Disney animated films of 2021. But we shall see, I suppose.

Raya is too serious for my taste, and I loved Sisu but I felt she would’ve fit a more magical and colorful world like this movie.

The whole, main character being the only one with no powers in their family, makes me think of Kaze No Stigma and Chivalry of a failed Knight

Okay, so I'm not uncultured or going crazy, it does have Brazil vibes.
The music they are playing is called vallenato, Carlos Vives sings the track. Vallenato is Native to Northern Colombia, not Brazil. Hope this helps.

Why does Disney keeps making the same films? They're literally telling the same story over and over. Like someone (mostly a female) has to go out on an adventure to save their family etc...we've seen it all before. It wasn't like this back in the 90s and early 2000s.
Because they’re fun? Give females some representation brother. These movies empower them. Not everything has to be made for us males, we already have most of the MCU, we already have our heroes, let females have theirs.
Almost all movies have a story that has been done somewhat before, it’s about how they tell the story (the execution).

Instead of producing a good movie Disney's entire focus now is producing the same movie with the same lessons over and over again because that's what oils their machine for a low cost. That has stripped their movies of any style as well, using the good ol smooth playdough look in every 3d production except for the ultra realistic remakes.
It's soulless, forgettable, lacks character and teaches the same thing like 3 other movies of theirs have taught us before, perhaps better too. The female protagonist complaint is a small reflection of the greater problem, just follow trends and give us our money, small brains.

I see her getting a gift it going wrong and putting the lives of her friends and family in danger. Than her saving the day without a gift and learning to be happy as herself or a ancient enemy shows up and traps everyone but her and she ends up getting a gift last second and saving the day.
