I thought it was so cool how it transfered to the movie cutscenes, it looked seamless back in the day.
Oh yeah. From a theatrical point of view they still. So good
I loved playing this when I was younger. Grinding to max out all the characters and playing every mission with each character was unique for sure
Backstepping through the fog was probably the first speedrun tech I ever discovered, me and my brother played through this game over and over and it's still the best movie game ever made.

I'm getting a chuckle that youtube thinks this is Dragon's Dogma.
But now that I think about it I'd kind of love to see a Dragon's Dogma speedrun at a GDQ event.
That would be interesting How would one even deal with the rng of the pawn system

None of the puns got to me but the "arrow dynamic" one broke my cold demeanor. Bravo to everyone involved, very entertaining!
heck yeah, what a fun speedrun. if any game deserves a proper remake, its this one XD plus the gba version was a sleeper hit too
these games were a large chunk of my adolescent years.
... especially after I found the glitch in the GBA version that let you scale your weapon damage infinitely.
The GBA version was so much fun. Way better than it had any right to be. Making OP characters was so much fun.
I played ROTK on GBA to death. Absolutely fantastic games.
I used to have this game on Gamecube back when it came out. It was definitely one of the better movie tie-in games. It was such a good time
Man this game still looks amazing. So much time and effort was put into these games. I still think anyone my age still remembers the first time they saw this game in RL.

I love this game me and my best friend, who died last year rest his soul, used to play the absolute tar out of this game, we played for days loving the combat, doing the challenge missions and beating the story with whatever characters. I miss him and seeing this reminds me of playing with him... rest in peace man.

Honestly this is revolutionary... SO many things about this game in this time around 2006.
To be honest the games really utilized the Transitions of gaming and actual movie scenes from the movie itself. It just to show that this type of gameplay would of been revolutionary and why this game was so uniquely remembered is because the game itself is like the movie exactly.. Sure you have to load certain moments in the game, But the game itself had proper Cutscenes that were already so well designed and recorded, they used the scenes in the movie... But then managed to make a 3D environment top down playable game like this... Sometimes I wish people would make some type of games like this more often, It makes so much more money to your budgets especially for releasing smaller games.

When I think of EA's Lord of the Ring games, I think of two things: How good they were and how infuriating the helm's deep: breached wall level was in the Two Towers game.

I never had this one. I had The Two Towers. Both were great games and it's cool to see this. Maxylobes knocked it out of the park.

That was actually frame perfect start of the time! Amazing! I have to agree this game was one of the best if not the best game based of a movie.. sadly enough the other way arround barely ever worked out :(

I distinctly remember grinding southern gate out to the last orc with the always perfect cheat code on as a kid. Soooo many characters leveled that way.
I feel like there is a LOT of optimization to be done here, but it was still nice to see the game on a GDQ! There's so much Experience left unspent, and those combos can't all be pointless, right?
A lot of combos have been tested, but none of them really seem to make the run faster on Easy difficulty. Harder difficulties would probably require more of the combos/abilities, though. (I also just got a 1:31 in this category on my twitch streams)

Getting to the point where those archers should have been shooting at the ent who is breaking the dam unlocked a deep angry memory in me lol. I definitely remember getting pissed off at the game at that point when I played it as a kid!
How funny that they just don't spawn if you leave the previous archers.

I know I never actually owned this game, that we just got it from rental on Blockbuster when I was a kid, but I still remember it so vividly.
