My problem with her songs is that they lack soul, they are songs that are too self-centered. And yes, it is normal for a rapper or artist to talk about their money or things like that, but the three songs that Lisa has released only talk about herself, that she is great, that she is the baddest in the room, that everyone loves her, that she has a lot of money, that she is a rockstar blah blah.

Not all songs need a deep meaning. This song has a good instrumental (to me at least) and the lyrics are just good lyrics to listen to and feel cool. Anyways my point is: you dont need to be able to connect with a song for it to be good. Like, Billie Eilish’s biggest song is her least “deep”. And many of the biggest hits on the planet don’t have deep meanings, and if they do, it’s definitely not everyone who “connects”.
that isn't really a problem and it's just a matter of personal preference as some artists don't make music that has deep meaning. Lisa is making music to dance and feel energised to and she delivers in that department, ESPECIALLY because her main skill is performance and dance. Not everyone wants to be personal with their music, or making music that you can emotionally connect with.
Nobody in BP has embraced the "I'm too good for you" image more than Lisa has. It just screams narcissist at this moment even though the girl has very little vocal and rap skills to back up that self enforced hype/flex or whatever it is. Like watch her live. Lisa Rockstar in my opinion: - the song fun for the first 5-10 play then it hurt my ears. - cringe lyric that people can't relate to. - heavily autotuned. - the chorus not catchy and I can't even do the key point for the dance.

I'm the same way these new kpop groups are just NOT GIVING at all they are debuting too young and most can't sing and you can tell they are trying to hard to appeal to western audiences which isn't bad but it's overriding what made me fall in love with kpop. I was a more 2nd gen and 3rd gen Stan so I base my standards on that and I've been disappointed

I'm a huge day-one fan but Rockstar is a song with seemingly no musicality? Regardless of how you feel, having a bit of a "blaccent" is integral to a hip hop/rap style of music, though (which is the genre Lisa leans towards.) Kind of like how having a bit of a country twang is integral to country music. For example: Lil Nas X's song Old Town Road. He doesn't naturally have a country twang but sang with one in that song because it wouldn't sound country otherwise.
Listen lets be honest Lisa can probably have a fruitful music career but it probably won't be the kind she wants( Popular/major success in America) I personally liked the song but her habit of dancing the whole time and barely singing live won't sit well in american settings IMO

Blackpink also have not appeared on as many USA TV shows like BTS & PSY did when their songs went to Pop radio.

It seems in Korea the song didn’t get any attention. Most Korean people seem to enjoy the music of newer groups than solo artists from gen 3. It’s her fans that are streaming and watching the videos which is good, as she has a strong fan base. I do feel rockstar isn’t anything new or innovative. It’s very much her style but it didn’t catch me in any way. I feel she needs to continue working on her style of music. And her raps too. I also feel she isn’t looking to make it in Korea anymore but the US, however the general public doesn’t care for k pop artists. Just k pop fans.

Regardless of how you feel, having a bit of a "blaccent" is integral to a hip hop/rap style of music, though (which is the genre Lisa leans towards.) Kind of like how having a bit of a country twang is integral to country music. For example: Lil Nas X's song Old Town Road. He doesn't naturally have a country twang but sang with one in that song because it wouldn't sound country otherwise.

It seems in Korea the song didn’t get any attention. Most Korean people seem to enjoy the music of newer groups than solo artists from gen 3. It’s her fans that are streaming and watching the videos which is good, as she has a strong fan base.
I do feel rockstar isn’t anything new or innovative. It’s very much her style but it didn’t catch me in any way. I feel she needs to continue working on her style of music. And her raps too.

kpop idols need to realise there is no market for them in the west outside the kpop fandom. I think Blackpink is going to be the biggest case study on that. Who are you being marketed to aside from those who consume kpop? The only kpop artist I have seen pull this off successfully is Jungkook from BTS however he is still very much within the kpop system
