    Since i'm getting some comments I want to say that it was absolutely NOT my intention to insight hate towards ANYONE. I wanted to make a video highlighting my thoughts on Belifts handling of the forming of ILLIT and how I’m not a fan of the concept, feeling like it only leans in one members favor. I talked in what I thought was an objective manor and don’t believe I have stated anything hateful in the slightest. I have just stated an opinion that clearly many other people just seem to share. I also said that Wonhee has improved a lot and anyone saying she's a bad idol is BIASED, that we shouldn't judge an idol by their trainee days. I don’t think I should silence my thoughts on something in fear of how other people take my opinion. I said multiple times that I do NOT hate any members of ANY idol group. How other people speak on things is not my fault any i try my best to regulate my comment sections

      I also wanted to add another thing from your video is that ex member Youngseo would have fitted the concept well despite her only being in a dark concept but her real style and how she dresses on their titok and instagram fitted Ill-Its concept, the concept prob was build around her and Wonhee as her face also kinda resembles Wonhee

    i never understand why survival shows focus on the younger (less talented) members... like the older trainees are often ready to debut and seem more cohesive together. it also makes people seem sour to the show and eventual group, it's just bad overall. survival show lineups almost never make sense tho

      younger ones are what people want though... especially in Asia where cuteness is preferred over sexiness.
      Not to mention it is easier to trick a minor into signing a veryyyy bad and unfair contract if they dont know what they are signing (for example, think of EXO and how they only earn like 5% of their own profits)

      That is why I am still baffled that people follow and still watch those shows. It has been showed that chose are really draining on trainees, they are rigged left and right (evil editing, mentors being biased, voting being so rigged it was literally proven). The producers capitalise so much on some trainees and then use some for views but then discard them, it is BRUTAL. Why would people still support that?

  • @Ana-lo8yx

    Illit gives me sort of traditional jpop vibes. This isn't bad by itself, but coupled with the fact that the group really leans into the cutesy younger concept, it really limits all the members who might have a different vocal range, dance style, etc.
    Im also not a wonhee hater, she seems genuinely nice and has greatly improved, but I'm still baffled at how she placed first at the time.
    Edit: A lot of people have mentioned the voting system so I just want to clarify that I didn't mean the technical details of how she won, but why others' talents were overlooked in favor of her visuals (Not saying she isn't talented, but she definitely wasn't as good back then as she is now. Well, obviously it's highly focus on business pov, never really about music and talents of the idols them self. That's why a lot of Hybe's artists suffering quality decrease on live performance and singing skills. Especially when you think that singer on the level of Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Adele, still have daily vocal training rutine even though they have level max God's given talent, but these idols and their company decide it's okay to be fake singer as long as you look good. Industry plant as it's finest. You can't expecting to be a fake and money grabber and also expecting people to respecting you, that's not how it works. These idols need to show integrity and self respect first as an artist and performer, then MAYBE people would take them as a serious respectable entertainer, and that is a lifetime achievement.
      But of course, greedy company don't want an independent artist, they just want puppet and 'dancing monkey' (it's Captain America reference btw).

    The problem and fault is definitely the team/producers behind ill-it. They throw the initial idea behind the name "ill-it" which stands for "i'll be it" in response to the show's name "R U next"/ "Are you the next it idol?". What makes no sense to me is why lean all the way to the cutesy concept when most members don't fit it. You can have a middle ground where all the members would be good at, you only need to be creative... Red velvet and Dreamcatcher for example have had dark/ creepy/ girl crush concepts that still have cuteness in it. If they prioritise creativity and the members qualities instead of just copying what's more popular they could have been so unique

      What makes Deukae and ReVe different is that all the members still have their own vibe no matter the concept. It lets their own personalities and strenghts shine through no matter what they're doing. For instance Seulgi and Irene are always gonna have that cold and elegant feel no matter the era, and Siyeon and Dami are gonna have the masculine cool girl vibe. When you try to make all the members fit the concept in the same way not only are some of them not gonna fit in, you lose the individual charms they bring to the table.

    +this is just my opinion & always has been, but i don't think the girls fully suit each other or the concept fully. it's not just bc of the performances, but there's a visual & vocal disharmony between the members. i think belift either needed a bigger lineup (something akin to loona or twice) or chosen different contestants to make illit's concept fully work.

Although one thing that I’m super excited about is when they’ll lean into a nightmare concept because currently it’s magical girls and dream core, just can’t wait until they lean into a more witchy concept since I know the members will absolutely eat it up.
    I also just wanted to say that Belift should have trained the members to handle lower ranges/higher ranges especially if they know that one day they’ll have to sing out of their range. Plus giving songs that only fit the members range I feel would get boring quickly and all their songs would end up getting repetitive, so they definitely should have trained them to handle songs that were out of their range.

There has never been a company that has debuted girl groups in such close succession nonetheless each eventually ending up being 5 members, it becomes very difficult to differentiate between them because only so many concepts can make money. so now people have to rely on semantics to make illit seem different. belift and hybe really put the girls in an unfortunate position.

    • @f4irywon815
      @f4irywon815 18 днів тому +1

      Sure they’ve just debuted but a debut gives the viewers an insight as to what concept the company wants the group to identify with.
      This means when people think of Illit they go straight to thinking very cute concept with small hints of the backroom vibe, but if we’re being honest here most people focus on the cuteness of their concept.
      So with Enhypen their debut highlights vampires very clearly and there is some sort of story line that Engenes r trying to decipher like ‘who’s sooha?’ which links between &team who also very clearly have a wolf concept. They also have a WEBTOON which allows fans to indulge in the story line furthering the excitement of each comeback.
      Same with NewJeans they have a nostalgic kind of concept that makes the viewers feel like they’re tagging along with a group of friends having fun. They can also experiment with different types of music from different parts of the timeline they are focusing on. Example: most recently their Japanese release ‘supernatural’ was inspired by jack swing music which was popular in the late 80s and early 90’s.
      So when we see this introduction to Illit, it kinda puts people who’ve watched RUNEXT off from following the group as we can kinda see the direction it’s going (opposite to RUNEXT songs).
      If they do girl crush in the very very very far future then good on them but as of now they have a cute concept and will identify with it until belift chooses to change things up kind of like when Enhypen did future pass the mic (drill music) and bite me (dark concept).
      Hope that helps you understand others perspectives

    This is an interesting perspective on wonhee. I personally like Illit alot and I agree their concept is being used quite a bit, but honestly they crush it and imo one of the best girl groups currently working the concept. That said, I am one who gets really into the details of choreography and performance to further appreciate the effort and work that goes into the performance as a whole, and the members of Illit are unsettingly fantastic technically at what they do, with one exception. Wonhee. Hearing your perspective made something click for me, as I realize the group almost feels balanced with wonhee being in it.

    • @Patrick_OBrien
      @Patrick_OBrien 19 днів тому +9

      Iroha's dance skills are insane for her age, and her movements and isolation are crazy precise. Yunah is a born to be idol and 2nd all commentary you made with her. Moka and Minju were both solid technically and performance and absolutely distinguished themselves from the rest of R U Next and deserve to be in this lineup. Your commentary is correct, though. Yunah, Iroha, Minju, and Moka blend with one another in harmony to the girl crush concept, but then there is Wonhee. A freight train of cuteness with one of the strongest cases of baby face I've ever seen. Wonhee I feel adds a twist the self evident chemistry of the first 4 members but instead of a break is almost distracting due to the "spice" taking priority over the main course by having her take center, even more so when you consider the center is probably weakest technically in the group.

    • @Patrick_OBrien
      @Patrick_OBrien 19 днів тому +7

      Where I think our perspectives differ is the perception of the group. I see wonhee strongly harmonizing cute concept against a girl crush concept, (which I personally think was debuted on purpose as a cute concept due to an a) acknowledgment of the saturation of girl crush and B) an effort to not be extremely blatant in coping new jeans and taking market share.)
      I think your perception looks at the girls as individuals and what they bring to the table and correctly observes the members being held back by the objectively weaker member and expresses a disappointment of missed opportunity for a member who obviously sticks out in both concept and technical skill.
      Ultimately, as a fan, I want good music to be made, and Magnetic and Lucky Girl Syndrome have been on the replay list all summer.

    Stanning Illit predebut was a rollercoaster. I found out about them in February and Wonhee was the person that caught my eye first. Finding out about their survival show i really wanted to watch it but i couldn't. The comment section of any runext related vids talked about her so terribly. People even kept saying that she sl*pt with the producers. Nothing makes it right to say that about anyone let alone a 15 year old 😢. After their debut, i feel like Hybe was trying to do what they'd already managed to do successfully. I'm not saying "New jeans 2.0" But i do feel like their current concept was kind of like New jeans' vibe but put a tutu on it. Again I'm not hating the members. i still love them and they're one of my fave groups and i frankly don't understand why some ppl treat them like they chose a concept that only one member can pull off effortlessly. But i still feel like it's more about that and less about building the concept around wonhee. They were trying to do it again if you get what i mean. But it's obviously backfired. If they'd done a girl crush concept, 90% of the hate the group gets would've never started in the first place 😮‍💨. If what i said is offended any illit stans, don't come for me please. They just debuted so i really hope they chage their concept in the future so every member can reach their full potential.

    • @thylionheart
      @thylionheart 18 днів тому +5

      Yeah honestly I’m super pissed at BeLift for setting Wonhee up like this. They emphasized how short a time she had been training, and then kept giving her immense praise over the course of the show with only a bit of criticism here and there (mostly at the beginning) and kept focusing on how much she was improving-yet turned around and were heavily critical of other, older trainees who had more experience and who were objectively more skilled and more charismatic performers than Wonhee. Which is going to and 100% piss a lot of viewers off! And make it so that if/when she does debut, she already has an (undeserved, bc she herself did nothing wrong) hate train following her.
      Then the backlash against the hate ended up landing on anyone who didn’t want Wonhee to debut even if they didn’t hate her, so then you have another subsection of people who feel invalidated for being frustrated about the favoritism BeLift was showing because the second you go, “I think there were plenty of other girls who deserved to debut before her and BeLift did them dirty,” you immediately get attacked as a “hater.” So again, you have resentment building up toward BeLift, ILLIT, even Wonhee herself, all because of BeLift’s machinations.
      Edit; regarding younger trainees debuting before older, just as skilled if not more skilled trainees, it just reminds me of a quote from My Hero Academia: “This is about Midoriya's incredible growth, right? But... When he starts at level one and you're at level 50... Naturally you'll be growing at different rates."
      Just because a young trainee was able to show rapid growth when starting from level 1 doesn’t mean that the trainees who had been training for years to reach the level 50 they were on during RUNext were any less deserving to debut.

      @@thylionheart I’m not trying to undermine the achievements of younger trainees in general (being able to debut so young is genuinely impressive)
      But I think the trainees that were at lv 50 probably deserved it just a bit more no?
      Because no matter how much progress is made, shouldn’t it have been made during training years?
      Like it’s good to see idols improve from not being able to sing to being able to hold a note, but shouldn’t that work been done as a trainee? If not what’s the point?
      BeLift basically showed they had older and incredibly competent talent and decided to heavily promote younger idols so they’d debut. Which seems unprofessional on THEIR part.

They can shift the concept as they grow up, and their skills will evolve over time. I hope they shift over into something similar to early Weki Meki and early Itzy.

      That’s the point of her video.
      The group was built around wonhee (no hate).
      Your second point on growth is what a training period is for. You are supposed to improve your skills and abilities in preparation for debuting.
      And through a survival show where skills are vital to excel and have a shot at debuting, you need to give it your all and show off/prove that what you have been training months or years is worth the hard work in the end.
      Survival shows are for people who are ready to debut.
      Of course along the way after debuting, the idols will grow in abilities like Jake of enhypen but it’s completely different when you debut an idol who has only trained 2 months prior to the survival show while other very skilled and older, legal of aged contestants have trained 3-5 years, sometimes 8 years to have the opportunity to debut.
      I’m not saying that wonhee doesn’t deserve to debut but compared to the other contestants who were brutally scrutinised and eliminated for their small mistakes, wonhee debuting 1st does not make any sense and the adults are fully to blame here.
      These judges genuinely made me want to rip my hairs out because of the clear favouritism towards contestants and we knew that they would get their way in the end.

ESPECIALLY Yunah and iroha. It’s even the styling too. The bad styling for Yunah and Iroha needs to stop, iroha’s bangs, and yunah’s ugly clothing is crazy. Giving iroha bright hair colours and weird bangs can only make me think she’ll just get the Gowon and Vivi treatment despite being one of the most amazing dancers and performers in the 5th Gen. all the potential is wasted! As an Iroha bias it especially makes me angry and I am honestly kind of taken aback as to why no illit fans (that I’ve seen) are even talking about this topic. It’s a huge problem.

    It’s so true. To build a group just for one member who can’t even make normal face expressions. Like really she always makes the same face expression. And how a company tries to stand her out but fails that brings only more hate to her. This group I wrong since beginning.

    I don't know a lot about kpop reality shows but, why make the show in the first place if you are going to rig the winner? Just release the group

      i think they make k-pop reality shows to create hype around the trainees the company likes, so when they debut they can have a solid fan base as soon as they debut. (i’m not too sure though as i’m more knowledgeable about survival shows for temporary groups 😓)

      @@hanmira i still see illit have fans even if though the final lineup was predetermined. people may stan them because they ultimately don’t care about the rigging or not know about the reality show. mnet did the same thing with i*zone and x1 and even other groups, though people weren’t aware at the time and only had fan theories before the investigation came out.

      @@meowzinzin yes illit has a lot of stans, but I’ve never seen so much hate for a group that was formed through a survival show. I can’t say for sure but I think even if it came out before iz*ones debut that the lineup was rigged, like genuinely rigged (manipulating the votes instead of company picks), people would still not be as mad because the few people that got rigged in were liked enough for people to still stan them, while for illit, Wonhee & Iroha are minors so people already disliked them, and Moka was (according to people who watched the show) talented “but just there”

      They are talented as heeellll I don’t think u understood me. I meant that their concept is limiting what we know they’re capable of. I said it makes them LOOK like dozens. Not that they are dozens

      @@NatashaLkim in my personal opinion i think the concept is perfectly fine 🤷‍♀️ it fits all the members well, especially wonhee, minju and moka, and iroha and yunah do a perfectly good job at making the concept their own. i agree magnetic isn’t a song that helps showcase their talents well enough, but i wouldn’t go as far as to say it makes them look like dozens

      @wavzone 10 днів тому +2

      @@NatashaLkim I completely understand why you feel that way, but I do still think it's a little unfair to claim. I think ILLIT's concept fits them very well & I don't think groups should go the girlcrush/mature adjacent route JUST so they don't look like "dozens". Magnetic was a really good debut song imo, I don't personally believe that all groups need to do something hard hitting to prove themselves worthy, I think that can be done over time! This isn't particularly directed towards you, just this comment, but I'm getting a bit tired of western fans claiming groups who do softer/cuter adjacent concepts are "limiting" themselves... Because I don't think girl groups should be limited to only doing concepts that "prove" their talents.
