Kpop idols DO NOT look like regular everyday koreans I don't understand how people don't immediately assume they had surgery
Because every country has beautiful people, there are idols that are naturally beautiful, so think that every idol has surgery is rude.

They start getting suggested surgery well before debut. It's insane that these children are essentially being pushed into nose jobs, botox, and implants before they're even 18. The culture around that will never make sense to me.

Yep. Out of 96 other girls, Wonyoung and Yujin were ranked 4th and 5th for visuals by other contestants in Produce48, right after the likes of freaking Yiren and Minju, even though they were barely into their teens. They beat even Sakura and Hyewon.
Heck, at a middle school graduation full of 15-16 year old girls (including her own sister), it's 12 year old Wonyoung who got singled out for her looks by a Starship talent scout.
Pretending that the only thing that distinguishes average girls from these two is a good surgeon is delulu at best.

I dont think there is a concept of natural beauty in korea. There is nothing wrong with enhancing your feature but the fact that every 1 in 5 women have done plastic surgery is insane. At this point all of their noses look the same.
I guess that explains why all of the members get progessively more a like in their looks. I mean in their latest mvs sometimes its hard to tell who is who. Even they themselves get confused 😂

Exactly. And fans get offended on their behalf but that’s also part of the problem. Noticing or recognizing someone’s procedures doesn’t mean they’re any less of a person, and plastic surgery should not be seen as a negative thing especially if done safely and in moderation (because done in excess it is an addiction)
The reason why ppl get mad is not because of the surgery analysis itself, but because haters use it as a way to drag idols for it.
No Wonyoung got dragged everywhere for getting surgery she was called a plastic monster and every time someone would compliments her beauty people would start saying it’s all surgery and that she wouldn’t look good without the surgeries other comments like "Wonyoung is living proof that you’re not ugly you’re just poor" or comparing her to other idols especially her members

Aside from botox and hfm, wonyoung also got mandibuloplasty and buccal fat removal, you could not achieve that kind of v-shape face with only non-invasive procedures. Its the same case with actress Roh Jeong Eui from Heirarchy. Nevertheless, that definitely upgraded their visuals to the max level.
I don't think wonyoung is plastic surgery. I think it's mostly fillers and other minimal invasive procedures.

99% of the idols have done those surgeries. You cant look at your idols and think that they haven't done anything. Also, Most of them are already beautiful they just got their features a little more refined. Tiny but changes.

I am a huge Wony fan and have never denied all her PS, it is actually amazing to see how skilled those surgeons were, but a bit sad knowing she got all these procedures being so young. She was gorgeous from the beginning, but I wonder, how would an average person would look after similar improvements.

Most people who don't want rhinoplasty usually gets an alarplasty which narrows down the width of the nostrils with tiplasty because it heals faster, less invasive and looks less obvious. I thought leeseo also might have gotten that, either way it really suits her face.

But I really wonder how it affected her self esteem, since she was very young :( being also born the 31st of august 2004, if people forced me (literally or not) to alter my whole face, it would have destroyed me. i know everyone’s saying wonyoung’s procedures look really good, but i’m not so sure anymore. i think they were around the time she debuted with ive, but it seems to me that her procedures have gone a little too far. imo, she just looks kind of uncanny now. it’s especially obvious in irl videos. she kinda looks like a caricature now and it’s kinda sad to see how far it’s gone.
I feel the same way. In photoshoots and in perfect lighting she looks gorgeous, but in another cases she's a bit odd looking. And how her facial features changes from time to time in strange way that you can't even explain what exactly happened just adds uncanny effect

Haerin newjeans is so pretty but we can't deny the fullness of filler, eye surgeries, etc. She didn't blink as much as normal person is the side effect. Kyujin nmixx got some fillers too in her debut era but thankfully she's stopped. Its crazy how people just commenting like minji's arm or hanni's shoulder. This type of comment that make the idol done some surgeries, filler, or bottox.
tbh I think haerin is one of the more natural idols out there. her eyes look the same, but she wears a LOT of makeup and contacts that change her appearance totally. if you see her barefaced, she looked the same as pre debut but with lighter skin.

I understand there isn't much that is wrong with ps but i do get sad when i see young kpop fans say things like "their surgeries enhanced their looks so much" or "i need the same surgeon" these idols live in constant pressure a lot of them probably don't even choose what ps to get but the company does, they looked just fine before those surgeries

Some of it, especially for Rei and Yujin, seems to be a result of makeup. Don't underestimate the power of makeup. Not everything is plastic surgery.
I don't disagree but some changes simply can't be achieved with only makeup. You can't create a nose bridge that was never there, create more scleral show or massively increase the size of your lips with simple makeup. Still, all the IVE girls were clearly beauties even before their surgeries, there's only so much a surgeon can do if you don't already have a balanced base to begin with

Plastic surgery in teenagers is more common than you think, unfortunately
I am inclined to agree with you however it has historically been a common thing in South Korea for parents to offer their kids plastic surgery as a graduation gift, so I wouldn’t really put it out of the question. Procedures are so quick, generally safe, high-quality, and cost-effective in South Korea that there is less of a barrier to getting these done, and South Korea is the plastic surgery capital of the world after all. Not to say that everyone that lives there gets these procedures done but you know what I mean 😅

Plastic surgeries can be very dangerous especially to a young growing face. It would be an absolute miracle of modern science if kpop idols got plastic surgeries at anywhere near the rate you people claim without any major incidents. there would undoubtedly be several deaths or permanent disablities if it was true
Hardly - I don't think you understand JUST how many people get plastic surgery globally every single day. A very small minority end up with any issues or even infections from said plastic surgery, and most of those are easily remedied. Especially in South Korea, where many doctors specialise in PS and obviously entertainment companies don't hire the cheap, unskilled ones.

I think rhinoplasty is insanely common in kpop and its actually pretty obvious. Its uncommon to have BOTH a high nose bridge and projected tip for east asians, especially when the entire group all have it.

there’s one idol that i know for sure had a rhinoplasty (i actually suspect two, one after debut to correct a slight error in the first surgery) but his fandom shares one picture of him predebut (after the rhinoplasty) as evidence that he looks “exactly the same,” but there’s more rare predebut photos of him from the year before where his nose is a DRASTICALLY different shape….but im too nervous to correct people bc i don’t want to get called an anti

Wy is an extreme case. Her whole face structure was changed with minute procedures. It's sad how she had to alter her features so much. Like looking at her now, she looks unnaturally pretty (not hating her lmao) like the exaggeration wkth her beauty has gotten so out of hand i believe now she is pressurised to keep that invasive standards alive. I hope she gets to be natural and live likr a normal person soon.

Wonyoung and Yujin are LITERALLY two exemples of how they were naturally beautiful. The point is not "have surgery to be pretty", but "how to capitalize beauty". If they can't sell through an idol's beauty, they can't help much on plastic surgery industry.
Make "Yujin" more feminine sounds something disgusting cause she has always being praised for her androgenous beauty. While Wonyoung was "born to be center" so her plastic surgeries had no other explanation except for seeking maturity (which would come naturally with time) and make her even more under the "Korean beauty standards".
My point is, an idol should NEVER receive hate for undergoing plastic surgery. HOWEVER, we shouldn't consider making literally TEENAGERS doing surgeries just to follow standards normal either. Some of them are literally KIDs for God's SAKE! There bodies are not even fully developed.
I'm saying all of these because people seems to think you either have to hate on idols for plastic surgery or to find these standards normal. Literally throwing kids under a knife for sake of "selling beauty", and I say "selling beauty" cause they are already beautiful, but if the industry can't directly profit from that, there's no use.

i’m not denying that she had surgery but i would just like to point out that in the pictures you used for yujin are when she gained some weight in izone giving her face a fuller look, there are more photos from pd48 etc where her face has a more similar shape to what it is now. she also had really bad eyesight (-9) so her glasses caused her eyes to look drastically smaller, plus her eye shape seems to change based on how puffy she is that day etc…there are also more predebut photos where her eyes aren’t as different compared to now.
Can you do Lesserafim Eunchae. She's noticable changes recently, especially her nose. She's one of my faves, so I always notice her most.

Kpop idols don’t just use PS but they also have the most expensive luxurious skin treatments and use glutathione injections that makes their skin brighter. Also having surgery is common for middle school students in SK so comparing their predebut pictures is not always accurate

99.99% of idols have some kind of PS if not cosmetic surgery done to their face. Botox or lip fillers are already so darn common even among normal folks not to mention an industry that relied on beauty to keep you relevant.
What I like about kpop idol plastic surgery is that they were so subtle but enhance their beauty so much.

Upto 2nd gen celebrities actually acknowledged plastic surgeries cause it was obvious. But now they target younger audiences and their insecurities to make them worship idols. So it is necessary to enlighten the kids and help them build their self esteem as these idols are entertainers and they aren’t perfect actual idols to obsess over! Specially some idols have all their hype around beauty like Wonyoung and Karina to a point its hideous cause both have full face hand restructured by expert surgeons. So its okay to look however you naturally look like and love that instead of always looking upto them

Many people may judge how they want but there is nothing wrong with doing plastic surgery, just like we all put on makeup to look prettier or decorate our rooms to be presentable, there is nothing wrong with wanting to look prettier than you already do. No one hates being pretty. IVE girls have always been pretty but now no one can deny that they are one of the prettiest groups out there.

Maybe it's normal for someone with no religion but in my religion especially it is forbidden to change what god has made for you. No offense but good for you if that is what you think.

Especially with the way beauty standards change it's really not worth much to opt for permanent means to enhance your face. Unless you think you'll be permanently happy I do not recommend surgery to combat societal pressures at all

You say she got her lips done but the pic you used was her with that faded lips makeup style that was popular at one point. If you see her audition video where she is without any makeup, her lips are the same as now. Even her nose and eyes as well. Just saying that I honestly see it as a change in makeup style for her. Maybe it’ll be better comparing their bare face then vs their bare face now cause it makes more sense.
Also, I have nothing against plastic surgery, I know it’s a common thing in S.Korea and it does not make me love an idol less but I know a plastic surgery when I see one and I honestly don’t think neither Liz, Leeseo or Yujin got any done❤
