When you mention the Bonsai, you really should've mentioned the use of 100 pink frogs as blossoms for the tree. That was an awesome idea, and I think was the key reason why I got it!
ah yeah i got that set! i think that's the only time they made the frogs in that colour too. And in the booklet there's an awesome looking tree made of brick separators for leaves :P now with summer rolling over i'm slowly replacing my blossoms with the green leaf parts and leaving the odd "frog branch" at the bottom of the pot to change it with the seasons - great set :)
I thought of that, too! I recall building the set as a display piece this last Christmas, and the use of the pink frog pieces always stuck out in my mind for how unique and clever it is. I think what makes it work as well as it does is that you're not meant to view it too close on, which makes it a lot less obvious that the pieces used are actually frogs
Honestly Speed Champions have some of the coolest techniques and part usages that I have ever seen in any lego theme. From transparent red axes as brakelights to lime green cleavors as part of a front grill, the designers never cease to amaze me
I think some of my favorites are for the larger '69 Camaro set. The shifter is a microphone, and the back bumper has two grey axes for the extended holding pieces.
The use of minifugure heads for streetlamps was a genius idea in my opinion. I first saw it in the ninjago legacy set with Zanes snowmobile and Kais fire cycle It was probably not the first time it was used but the first time I noticed it...
Strange to see that Christmas bakery set on this list because it was one of the last Lego sets I ever got as a kid and can still remember setting it up. Hard to believe that set is 13 years old. The light up brick was an amazing immersive detail for inside the bakery.
Reusing existing pieces in different ways and maybe changing the color is just smart and efficient designing. Plus it allows the user to use more of their imagination
Hey Spitbrix, I’ve noticed a mistake within the new Dilophosaurus Ambush set from the new Jurassic Park line. (Set Number 76958) While building the base of the Jeep in bag one, the instructions tell you to place the mud sticker with minifigure footprints on the driver side and the dinosaur foot prints on the passenger side. This is shown on the box as well, and throughout the rest of the instruction booklet. However, on the front of the booklet where it displays the whole set the stickers are switched.
I think the orchid is the coolest, it uses forks to hold little minifig shields in place as petals, demigorgon heads as the smaller flowers, and slightly offset rotating bricks to make the circular pot.
This is why I love the Lego masters shows on tv, I have no idea how they come up with the amazing builds and create totally new builds like using small green boats as part of the long stem of a flower - such creativity and imagination
Hey spitbrix, idk if you’ve seen this but in the Lego plants selection, the succulents one, they use Lego pistols on page 24 of book 3 to make a flower. Just another cool detail from the flower sets 😂 they always use weird methods lol
One of my favorite building techniques used in LEGO sets comes in the 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama set more specifically the build for the window it is just so good
I'm not sure why this came up in my recs, but I'm glad it did! I've seen my share of clever lego pieces growing up, but I had no idea of the engineering that went into some of these sets. This really gives me a new appreciation. Can't believe you didn't talk about the frogs in the bonsai tree though.
Yh i have Poe's Ep 9 X-wing Polybag and the carrot piece being used for the engines was a nice surprise and cool technique plus it pairs greatly with the Playscale version.
In the Creator 3in1 Noodle Shop (31131) there's these tan vents that were used as the noodles for the sign. Thought that was pretty clever. They also used gold "lightsaber rods" for the chopsticks. In the newer Viking Longboat (31132) the Ravens have a neat build as well. A "gun" as a main body, three scuba flippers as wings and tail, then a black horn/tooth as the beak.
two of my favorites are: 1 the chairs in the rivendell set, they have 2 hotdogs and a icecream. 2 the mickey and minnie brickheadz use black whips and some smart technic blocks for their tails
For weird instructions: I recently built the lego city express train 60337. In the 4th bag, page 3, the minifig can be seen holding her phone upside down. It just seems hilarious
I like the orchid set, the frogs in the middle of the flowers and the modified hat parts to make smaller flowers is cool. The ice creams as flower buds is smart too. The loose parts for the bark/moss stuff are an interesting choice too.
The new galaxy explorer set has some amazing techniques like for the ramp Side line wall things on the edge of the ship the angle and the way they made the windshield dome covers and the beds kinda
The thumbnail reminds me of the guy who got stuck in a cave upside down and they couldn't rescue him in time so they just sealed away the cave with his body in it Anyway yeah creative usage of the legs
Hi SpitBrix! I noticed on my Lego set there was an error. The sets name is the ( Tree - Planting Vehicle ) From Lego Friends. On step 13, it says to build a plant but they also add a pair of garden scissors. No where in the step says to add the scissors. But on step 17, it tells you to add them. There is no reason why the scissors appeared before the step tells you to add them.
The chairs in the Lord of the Rings Rivendale set where they form the fellowship are made out of Lego hotdogs and popsicles, and parts of the pillars use pieces originally designed to be the bottom of a cupcake!
One of the NON-Lego companies (mine says IVVTNHZ *shrug*) put out a "Skull Kid with Majora's Mask" set (it's bloody beautiful, in case anyone is interested). Lots of clever ideas, but the one that got me were the "shorts"; green slatted pants tops just below the skirt. They used green "swim fins" that you're put on a mini-fig's feet, and attached them to the BACKSIDE of 1-by-4 thin plates. The effect is that they're all stacked and layered, and oddly secure-ish. (Great for display; not for play.) I'm sure that technique would never pass muster with Lego, but it works to great effect! (The build also uses white rubber bands on the mask portion to simulate white lines. It's a BEAUTIFUL build.)
_Good_ hot dogs are made of beef and not pork, so _that_ is what makes it weird to use hot dogs as part of a pig build. They'd be completely normal and natural in a cow design.
They also used a Minecraft minifigure Steve head as a lamp in the 123 Sesame Street set.
I'm sure it wasn't Steve specifically
@@CarpetBanana i think they mean it’s the same mould
And for the teseract in a Marvel what if? Set.
And the box in the no way home liberty battle
And a Steve head as the tesseract in the sanctum sancturum set
When you mention the Bonsai, you really should've mentioned the use of 100 pink frogs as blossoms for the tree. That was an awesome idea, and I think was the key reason why I got it!

Yap
I actually have the bonsai tree set i just haven’t built it yet
Missed the frogs and other stuff in the orchid set too.
I always thought Lego using helicopter blades as dragon wing parts was really smart. Either that or when they made them with swords instead
Honestly Speed Champions have some of the coolest techniques and part usages that I have ever seen in any lego theme. From transparent red axes as brakelights to lime green cleavors as part of a front grill, the designers never cease to amaze me
For sure. I built the 007 car, and it felt closer to building an actual model car, as opposed to a Lego set.
"Green hotdog" my man, that's a pickle.
I love when Lego gets morbidly creative XD
I just think all the Lego bouquet sets have such unique building techniques
4:15 ''step bro im stuck please help me''
*Insert spiderverse sound effect meme*
The fact that the pigs eye brows are a hot dog made me Speachless 😔
I think some of my favorites are for the larger '69 Camaro set. The shifter is a microphone, and the back bumper has two grey axes for the extended holding pieces.
Oh man if you think that’s cool you should see Lego Speed Champions line of sets
The use of minifugure heads for streetlamps was a genius idea in my opinion.
I first saw it in the ninjago legacy set with Zanes snowmobile and Kais fire cycle
It was probably not the first time it was used but the first time I noticed it...

My favourite is the use of golden satchel pieces in the nanotech gauntlet set, it’s so random but genius use of them.
Reusing existing pieces in different ways and maybe changing the color is just smart and efficient designing. Plus it allows the user to use more of their imagination
the trapping of stacked panels to create the Illusion of pages in the Harry Potter Icons set has to be a favourite
You forgot to add the new A-frame cabin, where there are Thor's hammer pieces as part of the stone bricks.

1:55 bankooett😂
THE SIDES OF 31114 AT AN ANGLE MAKES A ILUSION OF A CURVE
BY THE WAY , I LOVE YOUR VIDS ! KEEP IT UP !
Crazy Building techniques, always cool to see them
I think the orchid is the coolest, it uses forks to hold little minifig shields in place as petals, demigorgon heads as the smaller flowers, and slightly offset rotating bricks to make the circular pot.

The lego Caterham 620r used pistols as an exhaust manifold for the engine. Genius
Also part of the Bonsai set, the cherry blossom variation uses pink frogs as cherry blossoms
Hey spitbrix, idk if you’ve seen this but in the Lego plants selection, the succulents one, they use Lego pistols on page 24 of book 3 to make a flower. Just another cool detail from the flower sets 😂 they always use weird methods lol
Lol they also use green Robin Hood hats that were popular in 90s medieval sets.
Are they pistols... or pistils?
When you say incredible piece usage, the first thing that comes to mind is speed champions
One of my favorite building techniques used in LEGO sets comes in the 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama set more specifically the build for the window it is just so good
300 IQ Lego sets must to be satisfying
The hot dog pieces are also used on the Lego 2022 Eiffel Tower set. They are in dark gray and used on the second floor of the tower.
I'm not sure why this came up in my recs, but I'm glad it did! I've seen my share of clever lego pieces growing up, but I had no idea of the engineering that went into some of these sets. This really gives me a new appreciation.

Yh i have Poe's Ep 9 X-wing Polybag and the carrot piece being used for the engines was a nice surprise and cool technique plus it pairs greatly with the Playscale version.
I WANT THAT GLOBE (but it’s over 200 smackers)
Talking about clever techniques in modular roofs, I love the way the Detecrive's Office used Unikitty tails and Bionicle/Hero Factory fists.
I will stick count out every single piece for those cray high numbers like the bonsai tree, just to ensure I'm doing it correctly lol
two of my favorites are: 1 the chairs in the rivendell set, they have 2 hotdogs and a icecream. 2 the mickey and minnie brickheadz use black whips and some smart technic blocks for their tails
How the designers made the benches on the Titanic = genius.
The rivendall set had lots of unique building techniques. the roof, gazebo, the stone people in the tower
The chairs in the counsel of Elrond!
The fact that classic lego doesn't sell anymore but everyone still has it
A cute little detail about the botanical collection is that the orchids have pink frogs on the flowers to resemble the center of an orchid lol
This is your 899th video so close to 900 🎉😊.
Keep up the great work and thanks for informing us about this stuff😊
Not gonna lie, when saw the thumbnail (guy stuck in snow) I dead ass thought it was a Fargo set lol
For weird instructions: I recently built the lego city express train 60337. In the 4th bag, page 3, the minifig can be seen holding her phone upside down. It just seems hilarious
Well, *someone* doesn’t know how to use their portrait orientation lock...
These are the awesome things that I love about Lego ❤
Makes sense they can just change the color of the plastic instead of making new molds for new pieces.
Almost all new speed champions sets have very clever buildings techniques
i love you spitbrix
Who else is pissed at Lego for renaming Slave One “Boba Fetts starship”
That wasn't Lego's decision, it was Disney's.
@@theemmjay5130 I’m still not happy how soft Disney is getting
I like the orchid set, the frogs in the middle of the flowers and the modified hat parts to make smaller flowers is cool. The ice creams as flower buds is smart too. The loose parts for the bark/moss stuff are an interesting choice too.
Or the fact that you stick a skeleton arm into a fork to hold a shield and that becomes a petal
@@Beregorn88 That’s a super clever thing I noticed too, I was confused by the fork at first!
The Sausage piece is extremely versatile. My favorite usage is for BMO’s in LEGO Dimensions Adventure Time sets.
The new galaxy explorer set has some amazing techniques like for the ramp Side line wall things on the edge of the ship the angle and the way they made the windshield dome covers and the beds kinda
That is an awesome set and a pleasure to build.
"The wild flower banquet" 😂
The way you worded it makes it kind of sound like Lego left actual hot dogs in the sets 1:45
The thumbnail got me going "What are you doing step toy?"
You missed the chance to include building techniques from the speed champions lineup, other than that these were pretty interesting
Awesome video
The thumbnail reminds me of the guy who got stuck in a cave upside down and they couldn't rescue him in time so they just sealed away the cave with his body in it
Anyway yeah creative usage of the legs
In the lego creator 3 in 1 tiger the printed 1x2 slopes line up with the brick built stripes on the side of the tigers body.
the one in the thumbnail was actually pretty genius
Don't know why but my first thought when seeing the thumbnail was " _Fargo_ reference"
EXCELLENT SPITBRIX,
Wildflower boo-k not banquet lol
I was looking for this comment 😂😂
Pig eyebrows as sausages also works as a subtle nod to wise hen, where pig characters picture of their dad is just sausages!
Does bricklink count the legs in the winter village set as a full fig?
I have the piggy coin bank, yes, it was so interesting when I first saw eyebrows made out of hot dogs:)
Hi SpitBrix! I noticed on my Lego set there was an error. The sets name is the ( Tree - Planting Vehicle ) From Lego Friends. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Lego rivendale set for its seats made out of food
The chairs in the Lord of the Rings Rivendale set where they form the fellowship are made out of Lego hotdogs and popsicles, and parts of the pillars use pieces originally designed to be the bottom of a cupcake!
"bright green sausage is enough to make you sick"
*shrek crying noises*
The Lego Speed Champions Ferrari has guns for exhaust engines👌
The new small 2023 McLaren F1 car 76919 uses spoons as wing mirrors, which I found quite funny...
Yes
Rivendell's instructions for the roof was strange and also had Minecraft Schulker box's for a pedestal
Introducing the brand new Step-Sister LEGO set!
I thought the ice rink half fig was actually the fargo wood chipper scene
There's black sausages in the bookshop set too :)
you forgot to mention that leefs of banzai tree were made up with frog bricks 😂
He said banquet instead of bouquet 😂
🤣
1:54 - it’s pronounced Bow kay
You could use that fishbowl for an Umbrella Academy scene.
Damn I never watched Spitbrix cause I assumed they'd be too high energy like the Shorts, this was a compelling ass video. Sorry for doubting ya
The Camaro set use ice cream as side mirrors 😂
One of the NON-Lego companies (mine says IVVTNHZ *shrug*) put out a "Skull Kid with Majora's Mask" set (it's bloody beautiful, in case anyone is interested). I’m the miles morales vs Morbius set the back lights use a very creative technique but idk how to describe it so I suggest you look for yourself
In the new jp 30 Lego sets, the visitor centre has the banner which can be launched off. It’s super fun to recreate the iconic scene!
I remember in one of the botanical sets you can get the head of the Stranger Things monster used to make an orchid.
I always thought that the wagon wheels in the old mediaeval sets were a great idea.
They were existing wheel parts, with the rubber tyres removed
...if you ever watched movie Fargo that figure is definitely not stuck in a snow bank...;P
3:30 they are called gear wheel piece
I really love they use frogs for so many things
i love turning minifigures into fish tanks so my thousands of fish can have a home 🥰🥰
He looks like Santa
now you can never unsee it it's Santa
I can recognize this was originally shot on SD video tape.
_Good_ hot dogs are made of beef and not pork, so _that_ is what makes it weird to use hot dogs as part of a pig build. They'd be completely normal and natural in a cow design.
Lego used black hot dogs as well as red lassoes to detail the buffers and imitate electric wires on the roof of the crocodile locomotive
“Step-bro.. I’m stuck-”
Wildflower BANQUET? 🤨
wildflower... banquet?? 🤦♂️
Using lego frogs for things is the best.
