I remember being like, 8 years old. I lost of my own fault my kings legs.
I hand-wrote a letter to Lego explaining this, claiming the fault was entirely mine, and asking if I could buy the individual piece. (And decorated the letter with lego artwork I drew, all by hand.)
They sent me a new body and legs in an envelope with a custom letter thanking me for my letter...
Definitely 5 stars for me.
That was back when Lego was not an insanely huge over priced bastards they have become. I saw somewhere where someone sent a letter asking for a replacement for a set they got that was missing half its pieces and Lego sent them a certified letter to either stop defaming them or they will sue them for millions for defamation. Hell I remember as a kid around 2001 the Lego Star Wars Star Destroyer was only $49 and now its $1000 to $1500. That is a 20 to 30 times the price mark up. That is over 2000% mark up.

@@jordancambridge4106 The original Imperial Star Destroyer # 6211 was $99 in 2006 when it launched. The newer one # 75055 released in 2014 at $129. The only star destroyer that comes even close to $1000 is the UCS Star Destroyer # 75252 at $699 and with about 4X the pieces of the other two and is intended for the collector's model market, not for children. Maybe if you live outside the US they cost more or you are looking at a discontinued set, if not then someone is severely ripping you off.

I've seen quite a few one star Amazon reviews along the lines of "I ordered this on behalf of a friend, so don't know what it's like" and even saw a one star review on a DVD saying "I haven't had time to watch this yet."
I think this happens because amazon sometimes gives you a popup/email asking "what did you think of this item" or asking you a question someone else has posted on the product. then I guess (mostly older) people who don't really understand technology and the internet think they're being asked the question directly and feel the need to answer it even if they don't have a "real" answer

Best 1 star review I've seen on any product was one for a powdered acid (chemical acid). Where the user complained it was "too bitter" and "shouldn't be sold with a taste this bad".

Lego is such a great company. My nephew once got a set that was missing a sticker sheet, so I went to the site and filed out the customer complaint form (which took maybe 5 minute). About 2 weeks later we got a package in the mail with the missing sticker sheet, a free figure, an apology, and a $5 coupon off a $10 plus set (granted this was years ago so not sure if they are still so generous).
Earlier this year I accidentally dropped a set that I was building and a part broke when it hit the ground. I went on their website and explained to them that I had broken a part but that it was entirely my fault. They sent me a new part without asking any questions. Later on I realized that I seemed to be missing a sticker sheet - maybe it didn’t come with the set or maybe I had simply lost it. Anyways I told them about it and they sent me the missing sheet. I got apology letters on both occasions. No coupon, but with the cost of everything nowadays, I still consider them generous not only to have sent 2 replacements (one of which was due to my own clumsiness) along with sweet letters, but also for not charging me a penny for shipping.

All the one star reviewers complaining about missing pieces obviously NEVER contacted LEGO about it. In the rare cases where I had a missing piece or a folded sticker sheet, I immediately got a replacement AND an apology letter about their product being not perfect. You can say a lot of things about LEGO, but their customer service is top notch.

I know a mum from my friendship group that used to build all her kids Lego sets before she gave then to her kids at Christmas because her kids “didn’t have the patience to put them together themselves. So sad and entirely misses the point of Lego’s intent - problem solving, creativity, patience, critical thinking, etc.
I guess it's up to the individual and what they enjoys.
I loved Lego: Ninjago as a teen but have never enjoyed building sets from instructions (only free building) so I got one and let my brother (who loves spending hours every Christmas Day building massive sets) build it so that I could have it on display and play with it!
It's great that Lego is so versatile, literally anyone can enjoy it
I can understand the 1 ⭐️ and the "too many small pieces" complaint on the classic sets. People expect them to have a majority of traditional bricks (2x1 and up and 2x2 and up) like it was on the real classic sets (70's and 80's). The sets had a less piece count but were more suitable for more basic builds and smaller children.
Yesterday i saw a 1 star review which literally said and I quote: "I'm giving it one star because I ordered the wrong product and cancelled my order"

augustine shay incase the pieces get lost or something. like imagine building something that requires studs (1*1 round plates) and you lose one because it is small. you can have extras so the set can look completed
Honestly they should make an entire extra set for ones that are all itty bitty pieces.

In all my years building Lego I have only ever had 1 piece that was truly and legitimately broken. It was a standard brown 2x2 plate that was included in the Apollo Saturn V Rocket set. It had split from corner to corner. Thankfully it was a standard piece where the color didn't matter since it was a support piece that nobody would see. I just replaced it with a spare black plate I had.
I've actually been super unlucky myself, I once had a star wars cockpit that was twisted and half melted on the edge. I've also recently had 2 sets that were missing a piece. Plus there were the times when the reddish brown bricks were using that super brittle plastic, it's since been fixed but I have a bag full of broken plates from when I went through and sorted my collection. that's still only 4 examples, maybe 8 or so sets out of a hundred, over the years though. In every case though Lego replaced them with zero trouble.
@@popinjayishuman I had the beetlejuice dimensions figure, and he was breaking down in a week (losing printing, legs looser than loose). Thankfully, I was able to get free replacement parts

Actually I did found a broken lego piece in my brand new model. As soon as I opened the package and began to built it, I've discovered that one crucial piece (which in fact was the base of the structure) was broken. So I immediately I returned the package to the store. They were a bit annoying but in the end agreed to exchange it for another one. The new one was fine and complete.

There are so many people out there who do not know the size of things ! I have a friend who bought a fridge on Amazon for £40. She thought it was an under counter full size fridge but when it arrived, it was only big enough to hold 6 cans of pop (soda) ! And she never thought to send it back !

It’s not an “issue” in my scenario, but I once had a LEGO set donated to me from my mom’s friend and her son. I already had that set, but - again - no worries. The box contained most of the pieces from the actual set (everything minus one minifigure, pretty much), plus a Nindroid figure and a small structure for it. Just amazing.

No it doesn't. All of the lego technic series has lime, yellow, blue and red bricks that look terrible and can't be used for own purposes. They only do this because it's cheaper. Lego is so messed up nowadays

I’ve sorta experienced the opposite of that once, I ordered a _LEGO_ set and it contained two of the rare large sharks, and when it came they were assembled, well that saved me from 20 minutes of pain of trying to get the 3 segments together.

12:10 this has happened to me once, with a Lego train set but when I looked at the instructions, it was some kind of duplo set. And the Lego bri- *puzzles* were different shapes, but literally the same colour as the instruction said. Of course, I did put a review of 3 stars because I love Lego, and do not want to look like a Karen that hates Lego. So we applied for a refund, and then we got the correct set.

The fact this man knows the proper plural of Lego, means he’s a certified Lego lover. Seriously, I grew up with these things, and I was brainwashed by my parents to call multiple pieces ‘legos’, and it upsets me to an unreasonable extent. The fact like 98 percent of the Lego fan population get this wrong doesn’t help either.
YES. I only really hear Americans use the term "Legos" as the plural, whereas here in the UK I haven't heard anything but "Lego". I agree it's very frustrating that even Lego fans can't get it right 🤦🏼♀️

I get what they mean with the small parts. I experienced this just yesterday. Bought a classic set to add to my classic Legos for when I build like towers and houses. Hoping for bigger Lego pieces such as 2x4 or bigger or at least 3x2. But most of it were like the really tiny pieces such as the tiny circle or cylinder pieces. So basically they meant not much to build like big builds with like houses. Mainly smaller legos for like details or small builds.

I sold a set of Legos on Ebay. The buyer complained that my apparently terrible job packing the set caused the package to be damaged. The package was already damaged and was noted in the description and could be seen in the pictures. They said they had to open the package and check to make sure "the fragile pieces weren't broken". Must be nice to have never stepped on a Lego before. 😂

5:27 I was in a post office about three or so years ago when the woman in front of me actually sat on a nearby large yet-to-be-sent package and ended up causing part of the package to be caved in. She then got up and walked off before anyone (except for me) noticed.
These kinds of people are everywhere so it isn't even always the post office's fault.
On a side note, my sister has the Harry Potter Hogwarts set but she has yet to build it (she's a lawyer and simply doesn't have the time for it).
On a completely unrelated note, that guy who claimed that the Lego sets cost about $3 to make was probably used to buying those cheap knockoff Lego products from flea markets and $2 shops / five-&-dimes.
I have bought many of those years ago and they tend to be almost as good as the original but not quite - the legit stuff is always the best.
BTW I only bought the knockoff products because I was trying to bulk up my minifig army. The cheap weapons that come with those knockoffs were surprisingly decent.

I work at the postal service with my friend in Nevada , our budget is small but we are talking about the entitled parent ( Karen ) .
So the thing started when I was with my friend ( driving a van ) to deliver packages and notes in Las Vegas when we arrived at a home , I go deliver the package while my friend was in the van , I ring the bell and the entitled parent came and gave me the money , and then I gave her the package and left , well you thought it is over ??
Well no the next day my phone rings and this is how the conversation went :
Ea= entitled parent
M= me
Ea : hello, can I talk to you about the product you gave me
M: well yes
Ea : well this Lego set is broken , why would you give it to me broken
I knew he did not know it was a set that needed to be build .
M: um , its just you need to buil-( but I get cut off)
Ea: do you understand that is broken ???
M: but-
Ea: shut up , I want a new one
M: but that was the only one we had
Ea: but I want a set that is not broken
M: but we don't have another one
Ea : just give me another one for gods sake
At this point I am done with this and said
M: would you like a refund ???
Ea: yes
When I arrive at the house , I rang the bell and the Ea opens the door with the set in the other had
M: well here is your money .
And this Ea though I would give her double the price ( the price is 3,000$)

Then the officer checks the website to see that is 3,000$ and not 6,000$
Po: well looks like M is correct
Ea: fine its 3,000$
The I give the 3,000$ and I get the Lego set , I drive to the postal service and I give the set to an amazon employee after I called my manager , I never saw Ea or her kid again

And after she fails he tried to take stuff from inside the ambulance for her "angel" .
She eventually got arrested and her kid ( who was in her car ) was taken by his dad ( not entitled ) and the medics had to call another ambulance to take ( good old lady ) to the hospital in a non-contaminated ambulance .
The level of that Karen was way more than entitled , it was insane

“It’s not lego’s fault” i’m pretty sure most of these people that are giving legitimate bad reviews aren’t blaming lego. They know it’s not their fault, that’s why they’re writing the review on Amazon, the place they bought it from.

i dont think thats the case actually, for instance, why would someone think its amazon's fault that the lego set has a lot of small parts?
I got told off by a commenter on Amazon because I'd put a review of a film on:
"You've reviewed the film, you're not supposed to do that. You should only review the disc itself, the packaging and delivery".
I was tempted to reply "The disc was round, the packaging was flat and the delivery happened".
Makes me think there are instructions missing... Puzzle! Hah
