Great thoughtful comparison man and yeah it’s a tough choice between the two incredible bikes. Went through the same thing last year but was shopping new instead of used and ended up with the Scout. The Harley does sound a bit better imo but holy cow the pull from the Indian makes it so much fun! Really can’t go wrong with either one. Enjoy and ride safe.
Thanks for the reply! I think if I test rode a scout, I probably would've gone in that direction lol. It came down to finances for me for the used bikes, and in that category the 48 won. May one day add the scout (or maybe even the chief bobber) in my collection.
The Indian does present a far better value lb for lb. But if you want to tinker with mods and do a full build out you can’t beat a sportster. Just depends on what you want
I will always be an Evolution Sportster Models Fan. I prefer the Evolution Sportster over any liquid cooled motor. Raw, Basic, and Style lives in an Evolution Sportster.
I have loved the 48 since it came out but when I was looking to get a bike I chose the scout bobber. Looks wise they are both beautiful and about the same price. I’m 6’ and although both bikes are basically the same size I feel too big on the 48 for some reason. Plus I found the exact bobber I wanted used in my area already with great upgrades for thousands less than a new one.
Good video. I have a different take. Having personally owned 4 Sportsters I can say that they are good. With that said the Scout is a much better option. The power. The looks. The 6 speed. Just to name a few. All these far outweigh the Sportster. Currently have a good representation of both Harley and Indian in my Garage. Road King Special/HeritageClassic/2019 and 2022 Indian Scouts. I do not see anymore Sportsters in my future. Take care.
I would definitely disagree with looks and reliability. And if I was I'm it for speed, I wouldn't be buying either. Lot of better choices for that. And the scout has a BIG flat spot in the rev range, most of that power is in the upper rev range on the scout, it's actually a poor comparison trying to compare these two motors.
I hear you. Been thinking about bike number 3 lately and funds dictate that it be used. Well, the choices suddenly go from limited to extremely limited. Mostly Harleys for sale with a couple of SV650s, a couple V Stroms, versys 650s, ninjas, KLRs, just the usual suspects. No scouts anywhere or quality Triumphs or anything beyond the typical. Actually thinking about one of the SV650s? I hear only good things about that bike and I have a Harley, my ‘21 FXLRS, so something different might be fun.
I'm right there with you. That's why I've been testing out some Kawasakis lately. As much as I'd like to stick with Harleys, I think a naked/sportbike would be fun to have, it's a completely different riding experience.
the 48 was my choice also. I test rode a indian bobber and just wasn't a fan. Not sure why to be honest, although the customization for the 48 is unlimited.
Considering it's now canceled, I think the idea of the 48 (Evo Sportster in general) is even more compelling. Also, do a Stage 1 and thank me later. I put vance and hines slip ons, a S&S stinger intake and tuned with the FP4 and it really wakes this bike up. I didn't get it to ride on the highway and tour it. It gets me from work and back using the back roads. I don't enjoy it on the interstate, but I don't think I would enjoy any bobber on the interstate. 1" risers and Mustang Fastback seat on it for comfort. The Indian has no soul. lol
I put a hammer performance 1275 120hp kit cams and tuned on the sportster. Crazy fast now. If I were to buy a third bike it would be a road glide for sure.
Preformance wise there really is no comparison, the Scout kick's the Sportster's ass. But, I've ridden the Sportster 48, and it is a fun bike which looks cool in it's own way.
yeah, performance wasn't as high on my priority list on this one as it's my 2nd Harley. But price, looks and the cool factor was what I was looking for.
If you can't be bothered to watch the video... i'll summarise it for you... He listed all the reasons that Indian Scout Bobber is the better bike, but chose Sportster 48 because it's a harley and came up with some random excuses that Sportster 48 is somehow better purchase lol
So I have a ruby red scout bobber and the day I bought it and took it home I changed the battery right away now as far as everything else I’m at 5,000 miles and not have my oil changed or anything the bike is soooo reliable it’s crazy and I’ve always been a Harley fan boy but I have to say man Indian killed it with the scouts
Why did ya change the battery out right away and what was the new battery? I just bought the same bike and color as you...that's why I'm asking. Thanks.
One way you can tell that someone doesnt wrench. They own a Polaris motorcycle. Every dude I've asked about ease of work has responded "I dont know, i go to the dealership."
Does anyone know where to watch the video that is sampled at 4:54?? Really love that build. Thanks!
The Bike Shed UA-cam has it. Individuals showcasing their own bike.
Right on brother, Sportsters aren't fast, but they have the power to light my very soul on fire.
Exactly

@@IronBornRider ohhh Yes! The Chief Bobber is another great choice.
I bought a 48 about a month ago for my second bike. So far I dont regret it.
I don’t either
@@IronBornRider Me either... just a great bike
You're definitely going to get more custom options with the Hog, but the Indian is better value for money and still quite customizable IMO.

Love when a deal falls into place. Initially for me the scout bobber didn’t interest me but it’s grown on me over the years

I agree the scout is a better bike in terms of performance and engineering. Would love to have one next to my sporty

Looks and reliability go to the 48

I chose the scout because the looks were appealing to me. I don’t like the sportsters gas tank
I also just recently picked up a scout myself
the 48 was my choice also.
I test rode a indian bobber and just wasn't a fan. Not sure why to be honest, although the customization for the 48 is unlimited.
Because deep down inside you know Polaris makes a shit bike. They already killed Victory.

S&S stinger for the win! That shit chugs air. Open as hell. Once you start building up the 48 the Indian can't touch it. That bitch is angry.
I put a hammer performance 1275 120hp kit cams and tuned on the sportster. Crazy fast now. If I were to buy a third bike it would be a road glide for sure.
I don’t have none of them and I’m planning to buy my first bike. Do you have any pic of your or IG if you don’t mind? Thank you

Did YOU watch the video? The first reason for why I went with a sportster was purely a financial decision. Nothing about which bike is better.
Love it! Good choice 👍🏻
Thanks brother!

If I had the opportunity to get a used scout bobber, I probably would’ve gotten it over the 48
@@IronBornRider both bikes are great man I’m trying to get a 48 or honestly a 883
Why did ya change the battery out right away and what was the new battery? I just bought the same bike and color as you...that's why I'm asking. Thanks.
@@digidrum2003 I heard in alot of videos that the battery in the scouts die fast so changing it right away is an option
I traded my Forty-Eight for a Road Glide Special. I realized that I need a smaller bike too. I might get another Forty-Eight with a tallboy handle.
Yeah, I sold my 883 for a FXLRS but quickly realized that there's value in having a smaller more nimble bike.
One way you can tell that someone doesnt wrench. They own a Polaris motorcycle. Every dude I've asked about ease of work has responded "I dont know, i go to the dealership."
I guess to each their own. I enjoy wrenching on my Harleys
Good call.
Thanks!
Looks. Nuff said
So vain you are jawn
There are reason why is a lot of used harleys in the market
Still, indian scout bobber is a head turner.
Yes they are. I ended up buying one lol
To each his own but dislike
More choice? Perhaps people can't wait to unload their H-D, that's why you found so many so cheap.
Harley sells more bikes than Indian, that’s why there’s more inventory on the used market vs Indian.
@@IronBornRider If it makes you feel better to believe that's the reason....
