As someone who didn't like On Tour at all but loves SSX3, finding out this was basically a stealth SSX3 port was an awesome surprise when I needed my SSX fix on the handheld. Even better on a hacked PSP you can mod the music pretty easily. It may not be dynamic but giving this game the SSX3 soundtrack made it feel right
The controls arent the reason everything is SSX3, thats an easy problem to solve My guess is an SSX3 port was in works for PSP, got delayed, and was finished around the time OnTour was coming out, so they just branded it as OnTour PSP
I'm guessing they were actually making a SSX3 port, but since it came so much later they would've had to re-license music. it was just cheaper to disguise it as an On Tour port
Great video. Didn't even realize it was a small channel until I finished watching. I had the GC version of ssx on tour (which had mario characters and it was so funny to me seeing them do all of those crazy tricks 😂) and played it for hundreds of hours. When i finally got to play the PSP version it felt really weird but still had a Lot of fun with it.
It's kinda funny EA technically managed to do this twice. Burnout Legends came out a month prior and was pretty much a PSP Burnout Takedown with the Revenge soundtrack.
@@camdt456 nah, just letting the creator know that his efforts kept me engaged throughout the entire thing, in an endless pool of content that's a rare find in my book :)
This is kinda like when Spider-Man 2 released on psp and it was actually based off the Spiderman 1 engine, but it was actually a whole new game built for the psp. Its actually pretty damn good! I thoroughly enjoyed it. It retained some classic levels but introduced some great memorable new ones as well.
Ive been playing through on ppsp since before you released this video. I noticed very quickly that half pipe levels and stuff ripped straight from ssx3 looked much better than the original content made for it
Great video! Stumbled across this after making my own review of this game and it pretty much summarises my favourite and least favourite things about it too. I was confused when I beat SSX Legend and still wasn't top of the leaderboard as well, but then I won the remaining Shred Events against the NPCs that were above me in the leaderboard, and that was all it took. You don't even need a gold medal in every event or to beat all of the challenges - in fact winning gold in every event doesn't even unlock a new outfit or board/skis! 🤦♂ I had a feeling that the ski Uber tricks took longer to pull off than the snowboard ones, but I never knew that for sure - it might explain why the half pipe events felt so difficult in this game. I replayed SSX 3 recently and didn't struggle with the first half pipe event at all. In On Tour PSP it seems like you have to get a 25-30x combo in order to get a gold medal for some of them lol
nice video man, EA did this a few times with PS2/PSP games. Burnout Legends on PSP is actually burnout 3 takedown and I poured so many hours into that version as burnout 3 was already one of my favorite games. Keep up the good work!
That’s wild, but not as crazy as Mario, Luigi, and Peach being playable in the GameCube version. A video on their cameos in SSX on Tour and NBA Street V3 could be kinda fun.
I've literally only played this version once when I was visiting family down in Virginia in 2006; I was too mesmerized by my cousins 360 playing NFS Most Wanted on a big ol plasma screen, first time I experienced HD 😆
I still think it’s a pretty good port we were lucky to even get in on psp now I can play it on PPSSPP on my iPhone whenever I want which is pretty cool.
@@tiotom9217 even if I agreed with you, the content is still new. I'm here to hear interesting tidbits about a version of SSX. The subject matter is interesting and the delivery is more than adequate.
Well... It's not universal media-disc, but universal-media disc (if that makes sense to you... Weird/hard difference to express). As in they intended to put out all types of media (music, movies, games...) in the same format
I used to play this a ton with friends at school. Though because the levels were from 3, I always just assumed this was a psp version of 3 with a somewhat clever wordplay in the title to indicate it was a mobile game. You know, you can play it "on tour". I didn't even know there was a console version of On Tour and just figured the series died for a while after 3. Also loved the original SSX and 3, but missed out on Tricky. Even the PS3 SSX was pretty good, but lacked some of the charm.
I think my favorite PSP port in general is Race Driver 2006, which basically combined ToCa 2 & 3 & came out during Codemasters prime, and it shows. It will probably be a long forgotten gem like so many other racing games of the era, and that's okay 😆 I'd rather the prices stay low
reminds me of how when i would play on tour (console ver) somewhat often i remember thinking "man... if on tour had the same mechanics as ssx 3 when doing tricks it'd feel a lot more satisfying" cuz i wasn't a huge fan of the trick mechanic being resorted to the analog stick so its neat that the psp port of on tour sort of answers my prayers lmao even if it seems like a copy of 3, although i think i would still stick to playing the console version more despite my tiny criticisms about it due to it being my 2nd favorite ssx game based on presentation and soundtrack alone.
To me SSX On Tour on the PSP is the best version of the game, based alone on that it uses SSX 3 Gameplay and Maps. Both of those things being my biggest issue with On Tour
This game is one of those PSP titles that is true to the console version Graphics and Gameplay wise. Aswell as Midnight club GTA Burnout outruncoast2coast ect.. I will mention a game franchise that never ever got that right.I'm talking about Need for Speed.. If you actually grew up and owned a PSP at launch you'll know what I mean :)
I guess it doesn't really matter, but in the extras of SSX Tricky on original Xbox, they said it was "Snowboard Supercross", not "Super Snowboardcross". People have confused that for years. It didnt help that the reboot retconned the name into an acronym for "Snowboarding, Surfing, and Motocross".
When I hear "On Tour" I just think of Guitar Hero On Tour, the DS entry for the Guitar Hero series. Was a fun game, more or less, but even after I replaced the GBA-slot accessory for it that a friend lost by loaning it out to their irresponsible cousin without my permission, I noticed it would often disconnect the GBA accessory while playing, making it ultimately pretty useless. Probably why it was sold to the place I found it in in the first place. For SSX, my only real experience with it is SSX Tricky for the Xbox. My cousin had a copy of it. I'm not convinced it was his, because he stole a lot of shit from us while pretending it was his (for example, I'm positive he stole my blue GBA SP and just ripped out the battery pack hoping I'd find it and think it was his; I even asked him about it and he pointed to some obscure scratch as complete proof it was his, as if he couldn't just add a scratch to it at any point after he stole it) and I am not at all certain what happened to our Xbox that we had. But anyway, it was a fun game. I was never huge into sports titles, but I liked that one well enough.
this still doesn't explain the two biggest mysteries of SSX On Tour to me, the ten SSX characters are: Mac, Kaori, Elise, Zoe, Psymon, Allegra, Nate, Tyson, Sid and Skye Mystery 1: where is Moby and how dare they remove him when he has literally been in every SSX game from Day 1. Mystery 2: in all the concept art and advert stuff for OT Skye is seen wearing an ice camo jacket with fur lining and blue snow pants but when you unlock her she has a t-shirt with a puffer jacket and blue jeans. IMO the ice camo costume was way cooler...what happened to it? all the other SSX characters never had alternate costumes to my knowledge...
god i was so dissappointed with ssx on tour.. when i could chose ssx 3 but i wanted the newest one.. i managed to get it later but im still bitter about it
As someone who didn't like On Tour at all but loves SSX3, finding out this was basically a stealth SSX3 port was an awesome surprise when I needed my SSX fix on the handheld.

How did you put the SSX3 soundtrack in this game?
First paragraph, that was literally me ahaha. Got it on my Vita in my end

wtf i realised after reading this

Three times if you count NFS Carbon: Own the City, which lifts most of its map from Most Wanted 2005
damn, watched the whole thing, a very well put together video I really enjoyed - the commentary, jokes and editing is simply on point :)
wow congrats, want an award for being able to focus on something for a whole 15 minutes?

My fav psp game of all time, such a good video!!!❤
I liked this, will now binge your channel tonight
Funnily enough the same thing happened with fifa street 2 on the psp
U read my thoughts lmao
I noticed it too. Sucks there are no legends
YEAH!!! U READ MY THOUGHTS!!

I’ve been playing ps1 titles a lot lately on my PSP. I didn’t know there was an SSX game on it. Thanks for the info!
I loved SSX3 and wasn't too impressed with On Tour... so learning this now, SSX On Tour PSP will be making its way to my Vita ASAP!
god I fucking love the psp squirrels
also damn, nice video, good editing and pacing, keep it up
That’s wild, but not as crazy as Mario, Luigi, and Peach being playable in the GameCube version.
A video on their cameos in SSX on Tour and NBA Street V3 could be kinda fun.
I loved my PSP and all the other batshit insanity of the 2000s
Excellent video man keep it up!!
Man… i miss ssx.
I've literally only played this version once when I was visiting family down in Virginia in 2006; I was too mesmerized by my cousins 360 playing NFS Most Wanted on a big ol plasma screen, first time I experienced HD 😆
(further context) we both had PSPs, he let me borrow the UMD while I was there 😆
This game was one of the first i ever played growing up
More ssx please!
On tour introduced me to Iron Maiden, Louis XIV, and Jurassic 5. So many good songs in that game.
I still think it’s a pretty good port we were lucky to even get in on psp now I can play it on PPSSPP on my iPhone whenever I want which is pretty cool.
Had on tour on the gamecube as a kid, was such a dope game. + you could be Luigi
Man I always liked on tour
did not expect to hear four faith
good video
decent video pal. Loved these games! Subbed! 🔥
Good video, good editing, good humor, and good voice, will be commenting to please the engagement overlords, good luck on your UA-cam endeavors
Exact same humour and editing as most modern channels unfortunately, nothing new here.

great video! if only they had made the true ssx3 psp version.
Did it bother anyone else that "Universal Media Disks" only worked with one device on the planet. Killer naming Sony.
I've got a tight 5 on the PSP

very nice video my man i'm looking forward to more stuff
Great video!

thought the thumbnail said sex lol
Pretty sure NBA Street Showdown did the same thing as this version of the game. The game has the UI of Street V3 but has the gameplay of Street Vol. 2
To me SSX On Tour on the PSP is the best version of the game, based alone on that it uses SSX 3 Gameplay and Maps. Both of those things being my biggest issue with On Tour
Summoner kicked ass
The sad thing is I loved this port because it was SSX 3. Not On Tour XD. Painful
30 seconds in and you got a sub
You deserve more subscribers than I do.
SSX Tricky is the best by far.
Weird how it is more or less a ssx3 port. Jesus loves you!

At least they copied the objectively better ssx game

frankly im more surprised that force unleashed had a psp version.
I fuckin LOVE the PSP!! EA big? Sled storm?
on tour is the best ssx. the best music, best tricks, best map and the best graphics
so what you're saying is...for those of us that hated on tour on the ps2/xbox we should pick up the psp version and enjoy what is essentially SSX 3.5
Thug 2!! It's a damn good port compared to the PS2 version

Btw whole UI kinda looks like from Motorstorm Arctic Edge, and also this specific winter "look" + characters design seem similar.

Super Snowboard Cross? I always thought it meant Snowboard Supercross.

ssx on tour ps is ssx 3 they take almost all of the ssx 3 to meke this version on psp... but this is pretty cool because ssx 3 was the best ssx ever
god i was so dissappointed with ssx on tour.. when i could chose ssx 3 but i wanted the newest one.. i managed to get it later but im still bitter about it
SSX3
i was going to click off this but it was actually more interesting than i thought it would be
Can you do Bboy the game next?
Why no Beavis & Butthead Classic reruns on MTV?
This game was made to copy the launch snowboard game on the 360.
Can someone please explain to me how to perform Monster Tricks for both board and skis? I know only one trick 🤧

I miss when "has no games" really meant something. Like when the ps3 had no games.
Jeez Louise a whole video about a sports game, when I think my existence is redundant I'll just remember this massive waste of everyone's time.
MAN i remember shredding those boards and Skis on GameCube
It is SSX
Not SEX
My bad
nah psp ssx isthe best one
My PS5 has 3.1415926... games
Who am I kidding? I can't afford a PS5
Just call it Xbox
Calling it original Xbox makes sound weird
