I sincerely hope you enjoy the result of this way-too-long long project. I will now shift my focus on finishing the next Pepega Mod and some smaller videos. Can't wait to show you what's in store for the future! 😁
I want to give an extended 'thank you' to my editor James. Without him this project would have taken even longer to come out as I've started having severe issues with my PC recently.

Fun fact about Undercover PSP: I was playing through the game on an emulator myself when I clipped through a barrier in a race and began driving around all of the districts in the game. Initiating police chases, hitting traffic, just exploring the in-game world that actually gets loaded for every single race.

1:07:34 Burnout Legends' development was actually started as a port of Burnout 3 before being turned into its own thing.
1:21:55 Split/Second PSP is actually based on beta versions of the game. There are footages of the beta that you can find online. The PSP is faithful to the beta's menus and tracks, like 1:23:55, where the consoles/PC versions has that section replaced by going under the terminal instead of inside.

That game was developed by Sumo Digital, who also did the PSP port of Split/Second.
Well, I wouldn't say port as in a one to one port, many things have been changed for that version other than the graphics, examples include Airport Terminal using the beta layout seen in one of the trailers for the game proper, physics being questionable at points (no joke, any of the tracks that involve the carrier ship route changer will occasionally cause your car to clip through the world after landing, and it doesn't get better on the inside, as even that as issues, sometimes your car will flip like it's a hot wheels game), menus being based on the beta, extra tracks from the Survival mode, cars having different stats, and more.
The Sumo Digital version of the game was heavily based on some parts of the game's Beta, which had been leaked and there are videos of the beta on UA-cam.

I played the hell out of GT PSP back on my PSP to the point of unlocking all difficulty settings for all races, it was hell.
The game actually has one extra final weird gimmick mechanic, and it's actually tied to Gran Turismo 5:
You can link the PSP while running it to a PS3 running GT5, and you can transfer over a selection of cars from your garage so that they can be used in Arcade mode. Originally the manual mentioned you'd be able to use it career, but they just limited to Arcade.
The real funny thing of the mechanic is, get this: It's the PSP car models on the PS3. So it's completely separate models. Which includes unique variants of vehicles that are only available as Premium cars in the normal game.

The fun part about it is when you beat the game you can start over and be a part of ANY crew, not just the 3 you can choose in the beginning. Customization is neat, and the wanderer’s (not part of any crew) have certain specifications that need to be done to recruit them to your team. Like winning with no NOS, not hitting any walls, driving with no brake modifications ect. Unique and fun racer for the time.

i think the fact this is emulated definitely has an effect on playing quality (for instance, the 60 fps patch for TDU, is that a thing you can even do on the physical psp?). Ive got a ridiculous amount of time on burnout on a physical psp, and none of the physics issues are present for the crash mode. like something could look scuffed like its ice skating, but the weird bumper cars glitch is something ive never seen in like 400 hours of gameplay. same with the takedowns shooting cars below the map, i have seen that happen but it is super rare. I feel like something with the emus may be muddle physics with burnout, seems like certain titles dont like to run at all emulated, but it is pretty fucking impressive we can emulate these old games and continue to enjoy them. just recently got my psp set up with infinity, im going to give a few of these a try.

1:49:09 as someone who has played loads of NASCAR PSP as well as NASCAR 07 (the game it was ported from), I can say that it is absolutely incredible. It is straight-up the PS2 version of the game, just on a mobile device. Of course, the HUD, menus, and graphics are different from the PS2 version, but in terms of core gameplay and features, it is the same game.
The career mode is rather in-depth, and just like the console version, it is still better than any career mode we have gotten in any game since. You could do full-length 3+ hour races if you wanted to, and to the best of my memory, you even race against a full field of 43 cars. To put things into perspective, in Gran Turismo PSP you could only race against three other cars.
The driving imo feels much better than the console versions, on consoles the cars were ridiculously loose and really hard not to spin out. But on PSP the cars are a lot tighter and easier to control, which really helps because you dont have a real joystick like on console.
The only feature I can think of that they had to cut is the team control thingy (which I never even used anyway). But that likely wasnt a technical limitation, rather it was likely because the PSP didn't actually have enough buttons for it to be implemented.
My only complaint about this game is that you cannot have multiple career saves at once, which isnt a dealbreaker but it can be pretty annoying if you're like me and sometimes want a couple of different game saves.
Overall rating: In terms of pure gameplay, I would say 8/10 or maybe even 8.5/10. But due to the fact that this is a straight-up PS2 game on the go, I would almost be tempted to say 9/10 or higher.

@@mohammadsaadsheikh8343 i've played both psp and console versions. I think after tweaking the controls for manual handling on the psp version, i find it exceptionally fun and easy to pick up. Possibly it's easier to control overall, and can take it with you. Also on the smaller screen, it still feels just as fast as driving the ps3 or ps4 GTs. One thing i noticed, the console version is more stressful (in a fun way?), possibly cause it's more of a sim than the psp version, and also it's a bit of a pain if i have to setup my wheel.
PSP version is just a fun, good port, and probably the best handheld racer.

@@Gold_Lightan The PSP version in max difficult and without assistances is still harder imo, as in the previous games you could abuse certain things to break the difficulty, like using and upgrading certain cars (since cars you race didnt scale to your one for the most part), crashing into walls to gain speed, taking illegal shortcuts or fine tuning cars in a certain way (since they dont work as intended). The PSP version of GT was GT gameplay done right.

Wow, I watched the video on DS racing games last night because it randomly showed up in my recommendations, saw some comments suggesting making a video on PSP racing games and looked if that had already been made. Now 12 hours later, that video actually gets released? How did UA-cam know to recommend me the DS video at that exact time?

I guess this video is full of ideas of what game i can emulate! Incredible job.. and i loved the fact that you showed all of this to MWDS lol.
I assume i'd like to see you go over the world of Dreamcast racing games. I think there are some interesting games on that console, like F355 Challenge for example. It'd be curious to see!

@@Ilovegames296 most definitely! I would recommend the originals but they have a lot of early racing game jank some may not be fond of.
So the version in this video is like a "best of" collection with a lot of modern features that still holds up today.
Above all else have a listen to the OST! Namco did not play around when making these games, it's a shame they don't make em anymore.

@@Ilovegames296 Oh yeah, Ridge Racer is good clean fun. My personal favorites are 6 and 7 due to car design and just how bombastic the soundtrack is. But Ridge Racers on PSP got me through many road trips to another city

To this day, I keep a hacked Vita on me with these PSP racers on it:
    NFS Carbon OTC
    NFS MW 5-1-0
    MotorStorm Arctic Edge
    Sega Rally
    M.A.C.H
Most of these are fully featured games, and they can be a real life saver if you ever need to wait some stuff out. Some of these also bring out some old memories

I'm so glad you made this, I recently got a Steam deck and was trying to remember this one racing game that I used to play on my old PSP. My dad gave it away because I used it too much, and watching this through reminded me it was Midnight club LA remix. Loved that you rated it the highest, absolute banger of a game.

The only change I noticed in Split Second (PSP) was only on Airport Terminal track. Going through the terminal instead of parking lot after changing the path in front of the start line is a wonderful change! Also, in the end, this was a wonderful video covering it all.
Too bad NFS:MW (DS) didn't get to see Moorhuhn Kart. Maybe it'll see it in its afterlife.

1:31:05 Completed this game in late 2021, and I can relate to what was said in terms of difficulty. The rubberbanding in some events and the questionable physics of some vehicle classes are so annoying that I had to restart some events more than 10 times. But boy, what a game. What an environment. What a SOUNDTRACK (The Hives, Queens of the Stone Age, Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy...)
