When I was a kid, I ended up getting the games in reverse order, starting with Modern Hits. Personally, for star power, I just blew into the mic. But "THEY HIT THE PENTAGON" works well too, I guess.

I appreciate these bygone trick based extreme sports games even though there beyond my slightly basic gaming skillset.

Despite its shortcomings, I will admit I had fun with it for a little while. Ultimately it was the monetization that made me drop it.

Guitar Hero wasn't just a fun plastic guitar rhythm game - it was a celebration of rock music as a whole. The charmingly tacky, aesthetics the over-the-top, even campy atmosphere, and comical flair was what kept people invested beyond the initial gimmick and setlist. GH Live had none of that despite still using the name.

I guess the first GH games were about the challenge, getting better and hitting everything at crazy speeds in expert difficulty was the meat of the game. And it was intentional, Wavegroup, the people that did the covers for the 3 first games and Harmonix knew what they where doing, they had a vision. The games had an incredible aesthetic that I remember to this day. The menu sounds, the hand drawings, and it was so fast to play, you entered the game, quick play and that was it. Everything worked even on a PS2. I miss it to this day, and it was the true catalyst for my love of music and playing guitar, and nowadays music producing. I'm crying writing this lol I don't think I'll ever play something that made me so passionate about something that is so fundamental to life.

Of course you had to buy a new controller, you cant use a ps3 or 360 controller on the xbox one and PS4

I dont think people realise how big of an impact SSX on tour had on the new scene of freeskiing! This game was EVERYTHING to me as a aspiring proffesional freestyle skiier! This game is legendary!!

Guitar Hero live was pretty good imo but they didn’t do the older games justice (i grew up on GH3 and GH Van Halen)

They replaced the cool characters with disney channel extras and made a weird guitar

I hated the song list, and the fret controls. I would say even as someone who can actually play guitar, the frets confuse me when im actually playing, (not that real life skills transfer over to the game controls im just saying its often hard to even tell which fret is which way when you activate star power- which was never a problem in previous games- and the buttons themselves reeallly sucked to use and hurt my fingers) and there wasnt anything id even like to play enough to practice.

I got this game November 2018, got to play live for one month, then servers shut down. Just as I was starting to like the game too

Live would have been more interesting to play if they added a pinkie button or maybe even a 5 column and having 10 buttons total, have the 3 was unbelievably boring to play

Had on tour as a teen back when they came out and love it so much brought it on every car ride.

I really liked the new Guitar for the game, I thought it made the game feel unique especially since Rock Band uses a very similar guitar for entries prior to Guitar Hero Live at that point, but it just didn't feel the same as previous games. You're either playing a music video or playing in front of a live crowd that is either loving it or heckling you with no in-between.

This game isn't for people that already liked Guitar Hero, or it would actually feel like Guitar Hero. This game was for nobody.

My one friend LOVES this game- and I try to tell him it's actually a dogshit GH. But I know his love lies in our nostalgia grinding it every day during college, especially leading up to the great TV shutdown. We even purchased the rip off party pack one Friday and had all our friends marathoning songs with mics and guitars, that was one of my best college memories for sure ❤ (see how fun your game could've been if you weren't freaking scrooges activision 🙄)

I played this game so much as a kid that I basically wore out my entire ds touchscreen it was all scratched and unresponsive where the body of the guitar was lol

Dissapointed to say, but this was the first guitar hero I ACTUALLY PLAYED. My mom bought me the original Guitar Hero guitar but not the game, so I would go to youtube and try to play along the others, switching from begginer to medium. (Thats where I stopped). When I went to Poland for an expedition, I went to a game park and the first guitar hero I ACTUALLY PLAYED myself was infact Guitar Hero Live. I dont have any complaints really, its easier for me as my hands are quite small so 3 buttons are simpler for me. But I would like to try the real one... (But to be honest, the songs were shit. I only played 5 songs before I decided to leave.)

I loved GHTV. Coming back from work and just playing a marathon of songs straight against a typically small group of competitors. It was nice, and a different kind of cozy.

worst thing about live was either the guitars or the latency; I wanted to like it, but it just never played correctly for me.

Lowkey, Really enjoyed this game, just living in the world where it could possibly come back (just because I am stuck at 970/1000g on xbox). There is clearly a market for rhythm games. Yeah it did have its issues like you said, but it could have been something. Like an update to the HO/PO colour or just a note visual change like rock band changes how they look.
