That "take it" and the desperation behind it really got to me on a spiritual level
What does SMR stand for?
starlight Drizow It stands for Senior Medical Resident.

Unpopular opinion medical UA-cam edition: her videos are sooooo much more interesting and informative than doctor mike
i feel like they both are
Honestly? Yeah
Yeeees! 👏🏻 Someone had to say it.
Well I think they have very different approaches to how they do things. She shows more of the specific clinical aspect of things and Dr. Mike is more of a broad overview to the medical field in a whole. I think both have pro’s and con’s but they are both pretty great! 😁
No they both are
Your fellow residents looked very relieved to see you, Siobhan! Thanks for taking us into your world!

Whenever you return a page I always hear ‘siobhantheasmr’ 😂

Yeah
I wonder if Canadian residents are happier.. you seem so excited about everything.. I think it's great.
-American Trainee
Jacob L I think it’s just her. The doctors she shows don’t seem to be like her. She is special for sure
Jacob L Also could be the fact that she’s in Hamilton which is a medium sized city, it might be different being in Toronto or Vancouver dealing with multiple OD, homeless related things, as well as vehicle injuries multiple times everyday, or Edmonton and Winnipeg dealing with lots of violent injuries like gun, knife and blunt force injuries.
It could be their health care system... no major negative stigma surrounding the industry and without patients worrying about insurance, could make dr’s jobs a lot easier
@@taylorelliott730 I'm Canadian and trust me we have our own shit to deal with. 😂
Also, spoiler alert, it's not a free healthcare system. We do indeed have to pay for it in some capacity.
Commander Jane Shepard clearly you didn’t see my comment was an assumption lol Where did I write that Canadian health insurance was free?
Yes!! my favourite time of the day has come, watching violin md
Thanks Lucas! I love uploading and hearing from you guys!
Yay
Lucas Girala,
I love her videos!
The music with the clapping always spikes my anxiety because it usually accompanies a code blue

I think it’s awesome how open your team is to being in your videos. Thanks for taking us into the world and letting us come along with you!
Yes I totally agree!! They are awesome!
How can there be dislikes she is probably saving lives at this moment
You need to travel to NY and collab with Dr. Mike, you guys would make a good team for a Q and A.
I’m currently binge watching the crap outta Siobhan. The world needs more wonderful people like her!
Never say the word "Quiet" when it's quiet - automatic Jinx
Yes! The "Q-word" summons ambulances from far and wide.
I love how everyone is so supportive in re-enacting the scenes of what happened. It's nice to see the education aspect of it.
Siobhan being superhuman for 10 minutes straight! But seriously, thank you so much for everything you do, I can tell you care about your patients so much! I actually just had surgery yesterday and I'm going home today.
Hope u have a good recovery!!
Ashley if you don’t mind me asking, what was the surgery for?
I'm noticing the progression of your content, your vlogs as you and your fellow co workers at the hospital slowly get more comfortable with everything being filmed and figuring out how to make an EDUCATIONAL video without compromising the patients privacy and I have to say you're doing am AMAZING job. This content is appealing to a wide variety of people - aspiring medical professionals or not !
Siobhan is amazing, and I suspect some of her attitude is contagious to her co-workers. And that contagion is impervious to PPE.
Even though I don’t want to be a doctor I want to be a PA, you are so inspiring 💖
First time commenting, love this channel. Please make the vids longer if you can.
10 minutes is the "sweet spot" for most vlogs. Longer and a lot of people stop watching after 10 minutes. Shorter and there isn't enough content.
She’s very busy, editing takes a while. I too wish they were longer but I respect her time and effort for even uploading a video a week. This woman deserves a metal. She gives us soo much more information compared to other UA-camrs and I appreciate it that sooooo much.
@@smiley8106 I agree with you , that she should get some sort of MEDAL for her efforts here. Her vlogs are always jam-packed with useful health info, and there's always a wonderful flow in how she brings in colleagues to discuss cases, while keeping us engaged, by explaining unfamiliar terminology and concepts, and by including light, fun moments which happen when people work closely together. All this, AND the first-rate quality of her edits and transitions, show a huge commitment to keeping the content as engaging and entertaining as it is informative. Considering how much she's juggling behind the scenes to make it all seem so effortless, she should probably be nominated queen of vloggers.
I think her videos are in perfect length 🤷🏻♀️
Can’t show patients, privacy issues.
Between all the doctoring, video and editing responsibilities, oh yeah and sleep...I sure hope you get to tickle the violin occasionally.
super8guy aaand she’s engaged! :D
@@dblozmbd to a IM resident (I removed fellow not to cause confusion). So I guess two people with the same crazy life under the same roof.
@Brittany Bennett Says you, but I used the expression loosely and referenced the Urban Dictionary: "When you 'tickle' something, you touch it lightly." But ultimately I defer it to the violin players (and the Elmo enthusiasts to weigh in.)
I'm not in the medical profession, but I love your videos! Thanks for giving us all a little insight into your work
My pleasure - thank you ☺️
So glad a PA student was featured in this day in the life!! (I know they’re kind of rare in Canada) I’m going to be going to PA school in a couple of years here in the US after I’m done with my undergrad!
I wish more Doctors had your zest for life as I'm positive it boils over to your patient care too. You are a lovely breath of fresh air, so glad I found your channel by accident a few weeks ago. I wish I could have you as my primary as you would make going to the doctor a pleasant rather than dreaded experience I'm sure.
You should do a video explaining what exactly a resident is and the difference between a resident and med students
YAY A NEW VIDEO
I WANT TO BE A DOCTOR SOO BADDD
Luke Laro sameeee
I appreciate you letting us see what it is like to be a doctor! You’ve inspired me to go into medicine in the future. Can’t wait to watch the video! ♥️
Thanks for telling me Qunoot - best of luck on your journey to medicine and hope you enjoy the video!
Violin MD Oh wow I’m a bit late but thank you so much! I didn’t think you would actually reply!
You are very inspiring to me! I’m 14, and thinking about becoming a doctor when I get older. Keep up the great videos! I love them soooo much!
I don’t even aspire to be a doctor but your videos are so addicting & I love them so much! I love how you edit & how much you actually show us behind the scenes at the hospital. PLEASE KEEP MAKING VIDEOS! ❤️❤️❤️
I have personally fallen and had a brain bleed from it! Actually lost my sense of smell due to my brain bouncing off my frontal lobe. The ICU team loved me and was always visiting cause I was still in good spirits even though my head was pounding! Thank you for everything you do, us patients really appreciate it ☺️
So, hi! These videos makes me appreciate the sheer endurance and teamwork and commitment it takes to be a doctor. As one who has needed a fair bit of care in recent years, I am grateful beyond measure to those who have taken care of me.
Thanks for this video! it was great seeing medical students, PA students and other physicians in the video. Nice refreshing change of perspective! thanks again!
I love the little acting bits your colleagues do to help the video 😂 seem like a good bunch
I love watching you can’t wait for you to say “ 3rd year “ keep it going .. so proud of you 😭😭🙏🙏
This video was awesome! I loved when the ER doc came in and explained the whole thing to you. That stuff is super interesting to me!
That's called "presenting a case." Like Haiku, and other poetical forms, it has a formal sequence, outline and content that eventually becomes ingrained and not even noticed by the presenting (or receiving) doc. It's just the way things are said/presented.
You don't ever need to prescribe ANYTHING. Your bubbly personality is all the Dr. ordered. Makes me feel better every time I watch your vlog. God bless you and your practice.
As a nursing student these are amazing to watch! Keep it up thank you
Even though I'm a Nursing Student. I will say this for a FACT, I hate the Night Shift, especially on a full moon.
My mom's a night shift nurse tech. She swears up and down that full moon is a thing!
My son is a nursing student. He seems to be aware of this phenomenon.
I want more full moon stories!
@@ginna1375 yep ive heard frm many the same!
Is the full moon a bad thing....?
I love you and your videos! I'm a CMA but I'm going to school for BSNRN. I love watching it because it's so interesting to me. And you are such a humble down to earth person. Any patient you have would adore you. You're such an inspiration to all med students!!
Your videos are great and enlightening. When my mom has been in the hospital , it sometimes feels like nothing is being done but it’s comforting to know that there’s a lot happening behind the scenes!
I’ve just started binge watching all your videos. I find them interesting and educational, particularly as I’m studying Nursing!!!! Keep going with the great content ❤️
Thanks for being so nice to the medical and PA students! as a student on my first rotation, I really appreciate when the residents take the time to do small things like be friendly, let me know when they're rounding/ seeing consults, giving feedback on my presentations, etc. Keep being an awesome doctor and person!
The mark of an outstanding preceptor is that they teach precepts, and never "dump" on their students/colleagues. She's amazing. I wonder if she was just born that way!
the SBAR by that emergency physician was great!!
Short sharp and detailed, exactly how handovers/briefs should be.
Taylor MacNaughton I was thinking the same thing! I was like that’s some practiced SBAR right there! Haha
Taylor MacNaughton I was thinking the same thing! I’m a nursing student, and I’m trying work on my reporting lol
Hannah Marie i’m a nursing student too! i’m also working on mine but i’m sure one day we’ll be as effective as that physician!
It's so nice your colleagues are on board with filming and getting filmed ☺💓
i love your videos!! you always have such a positive and happy attitude and i love it!!! keep up the good videos. love you. 💛
Thanks Maggie!
I love Ariana Grande to😍😍❤
I really don't know how but your voice seriously eases my stress.
Your channel it’s actually my fav channel on yt because nobody makes this kind of vlogs and I love it
I love watching these vlogs. I’m a first year junior Doctor in the UK, and it’s so interesting seeing the differences and similarities between the way our shifts work x
I love seeing other people and more of the paperwork/details of the cases you're working on. Thanks Siobhan!!
Just wanna say thank you because it’s people like you who are helping my friend who just got diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma overcome her battle
So great what you are able to manage -even while exhausted! 🙌❤️
Some of the best vlogs on youtube! 👏👏
I know right
Hey Siobhan, I volunteer at my local hospital here in Long Beach, CA. I’m suggesting create a video on how volunteers make an impact in your hospital?
Thanks!
I think that is a bit unfair to ask. Volunteers are essential but their interaction with physicians is minimal, and they really are coordinating patients to and from certain locations. I volunteered before medical school for years and I can say it would make me very uncomfortable now, as an MS2, to approach a volunteer I have never met to talk to them about why think what they do is important. The answer is obvious but it's not like without volunteers the hospital would stop running..
You are awesome, really love the positive vibes that you bring to the medical community(: keep it up Siobhan!
Thanks Rae I appreciate it!!
Hi! I just wanted to say how much you inspire me, and I've actually started taking med school back into consideration after discovering your videos! Thank you! Keep the good work up♥️
that's really cool - thanks for letting me know Veronica, good luck!!
Oh yeah yeah
Hi Siobhan, thank you so much for sharing your days as a doctor, I love these types of videos, I would love to see more ❤️❤️
I seriously love all your videos! Im not in the medical field, but so many of my friends are as well as my mom. Its really cool to see what you get up to in hospitals and it makes It seem less scary! Thank you for sharing :)
I'm not even going to be a doctor but I love your videos! It's so cool to see how the hospital works and how much effort and patience goes into everything happening... So much happening behind the scenes!
I’m a nursing student and these vlogs really help out! It reminds me of a virtual clinical and I love how you explain as you go. 🤗❤️
I swear I look forward to Saturdays so I can watch your videos.. no lie
aw really? so glad to hear it, thanks Jenzii!

Wow....I just got to know about your channel and so far am loving it. Just subbed and turned on the notification bell. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to shoot and edit these inspiring and educational videos for us, learnt a lot watching this video. Just finished med school and I can't wait to practice as a medical Doctor.
This was a very well made video. I’m 14, a freshman in high school. I really want to become a doctor when I’m older. Your videos are so encouraging, I love them.
You are amazing! I feel that some doctors in this day and age just want to rush patients away as fast as they can. I feel that you really care! 💕💕
My favorite time of the day!!!! Can’t wait to see what happens!!
hope you enjoy!!
Hy
Just a request: please make longer videos cuz i love them
She barely has time to post one a week.
Stina Palm yeah I know but still
I enjoy seeing your videos, Sioban. You are always so positive and dedicated to your calling. Your patients can be fortunate to have you as doctor.
You're videos have ignited my love for medicine again and i cant thank you enough! Because of you I will be going back to school in the summer!
Why did I giggle at the eating animation 😂
Hehehe 🙈
Yay, fellow PA here. Glad to see us represented in Canada too!
I'm studying to be a social worker (with hopefully a hospital placement for an internship), and I really love getting to see the other side of things! Your videos are fascinating.
You make it look so easy and fun! It's been my dream since junior high to go to med school and you have been motivating me through all my courses, thank you for being such a positive energy!
My daughter got me hooked on your blog. I wish there was more you could say or do, but as a nurse, I realize that HIPPA prevents that from happening. My suggestion is to end as you begin-playing violin!
I just love your demeanor. You’re definitely very entertaining to watch and inspiring! Thanks for that and thanks for doing something that helps so many! 💜
Just watching your videos is fascinating. I am not even in Medical school, but seeing this just gives me courage to do this.
You are so inspiring and insightful, makes me even more determined to be an intensivist
YES! !! this is all i ever look forward to anymore
As someone who would really like to study medicine, but is probably never going to be able to (if I don't have an immense amount of luck oof), I love watching your videos! It's great to get an inside into this work field from a doctor's perspective, instead of only looking at it through documentaries or a patient's point of view!
Keep up the nice work :3
(also: can I just mention how happy I am every time I watch your videos? Your positive attitude just makes me smile, automatically >.< Thanks for that also!)
Just a big THANK YOU to all doctors like you who really do care for all their patients
oh i just love your videos! they keep me motivated when studying/working. getting a glimpse into your work is like a little informative escape to another world! thanks so much for uploading 🤗
I really want to be a surgeon and these vids give me a good insight into the medical field, love them so much ❤️
I have watched many of your other vlog type videos and this is by far my favorite! I would love to see more of the full behind the scenes of the team and really understand what happens in the hospital. I understand that is not always possible but when it is that would be great!!
Hi Siobhan!! I discovered your channel recently and I absolutely love it!! I work in the audiovisual sector, nothing to do with medicine, and that is why I really appreciate your work. You make medicine "easy" to understand for us mortals hahhaha. Anyway, I would love to know your opinion on homeopathy, I don´t know if you have talked about it already, in that case I´d love to check it out!! Thank you so much!!
I have been binge watching your videos. I want to become a doctor so this helps a lot.
These are so fun to watch. I love how everybody joins in on your videos. A different perspective on the life of a Dr. Thank you for sharing these!! Xo
YESLANA (hope I spelled it right!) Get that PA degree! I love seeing PAs in action as that it my ultimate goal! I'm actually working as a CNA right now for that PCE experience so I can apply to grad programs next cycle or the one after that!
I don’t really want to be a doctor when I get older, but I really like these types of videos!
With each video that you post I get more and more excited for the next one ^_^ ... Like I've mentioned in another video of yours, I'm a nurse so when you actually explain things that seem so routine to me it's very interesting because they are always like a brain refresher which is so nice! :D ... Also, I have yet to see someone be uncomfortable or camera-shy in any of your videos, huuuuge respect to everyone that appears and contributes in all of your videos and thank you very much for uploading regularly, you are amazing!
Being a senior medical resident must be stressful
I'm sure it is, but she handles it so well! It takes a special person to work in the healthcare field for sure. I know I couldn't handle it but am so thankful for those that can, I'm actually in the hospital right now and the nurses and my doctor have made my recovery so much easier.
Ashley God Bless. I pray you recover soon :) 💕
I don’t even want to be a doctor, but you’re just so sweet that I’m addicted to watching you ♥️
You just worked something like 16 hours, you come out of your job still smiling and jovial with energy in your voice 0.o! You are beyond amazing. You look like you legitimately love your work and I hope you never lose the passion! Thanks for the upload and keep being you :)
LOL, the "Take my pager, please!" moment
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love these videos. Would it be possible for you to do a video talking about some common things you see and what your steps are in deciphering the underlying patho for each case?
You are such a wonderful, kind, supportive leader. You inspire me to be a better employer, colleague, friend. I'm on my way to being a criminal defence lawyer, and while the work is dry different, it shares some important similarities: seeing people at their lowest points, highly demanding workload, pressure, and the limited ability of your friends and family the relate to or understand what you actually do for a living. As a result, it's so important that as co-workers we learn to hold each other up well. And I like watching you do that so skillfully. :)
You make being an internist look fun, which after working with ER docs for a while now, is something I never thought I'd say lol.
The best UA-cam vloger
Hi Siobhan! I was wondering if you could do a video on working together with nurses? I’m a third year nursing student, and when I’m at the hospital I see the doctors brush us off as well as the RNs. It’s really frustrating because often times we see the patient more than they do.
I love watching your night shifts when I'm in the lab at night ! Thank you for keeping me company 😊
Do you have permission from the entire hospital and staff to film, or are you asking everyone individually ?
Esme Alexander obviously that’s why she’s filming
@@deborahernandez4828 Ok but she can't film patients without document consent.

I can’t stop watching these videos. Totally hooked
