Pretty sure they are pre-recorded and she just edits them in. I have seen the same clips in multiple videos.
I never thought of that

Nobody will care... she is just a youtube poser star.

fusiion29 I would want her as my doctor, she's so humanistic and humble
fusiion29 so true being an RD myself I wonder if doctors actually read them....based in the questions they ask me after i don't think they do that often....
Yugen Utopia because she’s only a second year med student... not a doctor....
kerri-ann best 2 years of medical school isn’t a doctor....
Alisa Mich I would think 2 years isn't enough to be a doctor..thanks for the info I just watch a few of the videos but you get what I am saying
I appreciate your smiley face and calming nature. Can you do a video on how to deal with insomnia, anxiety, depression?
Root Beer PLEASE
YYYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSS
Yes!
Extra please
Doctors help with physical help so they can't help with anxiety and depression that's like a psychiatrist and therapist job
Hands down the BEST medical resident vlogger on UA-cam! Please never stop making videos! I have no aspiration to be a doctor but I am in my last semester of nursing school and I have recently decided I am going to CRNA school afterwards or maybe an acute care gerontology nurse practitioner. Anywho you really inspire me and give me PATIENCE. Because of how well you handle stress. I work full time and i goto school at night ... so needless to say I can be a bit grumpy 😂😂
sienna robinson I relate!
After watching this I have a suggestion for a future video. How about showing your thought process of what labs you're looking at, as to what illness you suspect. I know this would be beneficial to new nurses like myself. Thanks for the videos! You have a great uplifting personality.
That's a great idea! I'll definitely try to work that in Jason - thanks for the suggestion!
as a new nurse, i second this! would love to see your side of the road in regards to that
Hello@@ViolinMD
Siobhan, I’m 29 and returning to nursing school. Watching you is so inspiring. Thank you for what you do and showing how awesome women in healthcare can be!!
Great to see such positive residents working in my local hospital. You've chosen a challenging but rewarding career and I'm thankful for your service to this community!
Hi Siobhan, I discovered your channel 2 weeks ago and I'll stay here for a long time. You are so calm, patient, humble, open-hearted for others and it finds me, because I have similar character. Please keep sharing with what you do. It's not only about how it looks like to work as a doctor but also how to be a good doctor for others (relation doctor - nurse is often neglected).
I also always wanted to be a doctor but I failed and went to study nursing. After 2 years I want to repair my mistakes which I made in a way to be a medical student. Your positive attitude keeps me in this path in difficult moments.
Wish you all the best for new year. God bless you. Greetings from Poland :)
Łukasz Podoba good luck!!
Hi Lukasz - thank you very much for such kind words, that really means so much to me! Best of luck on your journey to becoming a doctor... you sound driven and motivated and if this is your dream, I'm sure you will turn it into a reality!
Thank you Sandi and Siobhan for your response. I'm glad to hear your support :)
I missed your face and videos last week. I know you are so tired. I hope you are doing great. I Wish you the best of everything in 2019
I 2nd that lol. I literally just found Siobhan (ViolinMD) channel. What pretty face and smile and great positive energy she exudes.
I agree!! I love that she is always so energetic and smiling! She is soooo cute!! I really appreciate all her effort in making vlogs while doing her job at the hospital. That is tough, but she is one of a kind! I know she will be one of the best doctors ever!! Good luck and wish u all the best Siobhan! Thanks for working so hard and doing ur best in making these videos! You are Amaaaazing! :)
Varsha Scooby I have excellent experience in medical billing office now looking for client I can give them cheapest and best collections for the claim in USA medical billing
I was concerned too!! Glad to see you this week!!
Your face in the thumbnail is literally mine rn 😂😂 getting paged when you’ve just dozed off is the worsttt... you don’t know if it’s gonna be a VT or an anxious patient 🤷🏽♂️
hahahah so true!! it can be so disorienting, especially when you get that tired!
Lol "let me go get my pager so EVERYONE CAN GET A HOLD OF ME FOREVER"
Almost as bad as when someone hits a code blue button by mistake at 3 AM
@@fevre_dream8542
Oh gosh!
A coworker hit the code blue button at 3:30am two nights ago by mistake.
@@RealTrader93 It's the worst. I work emergency, so we have to respond to all the night time codes. It's always halfway up the stairs that they call a false alarm.
@@ViolinMD hi my name is LANEY IM AM 24 YEARS OLD
The fact that you work SO much and still
Come out with quality content is amazing!! Your channel is very inspiring!!!
Hospital vlogs are the besttt
thank you for putting so much effort for your supporters💕
So glad you enjoyed it - thanks Ana!!
“Hey , this is Siobhan, returning a page” sounds so relaxing and ASMR-ry 😂😂❤️
I aspire to be a pediatrician when I’m older. She is just so inspiring even though she isn’t in the exact thing I would love to do, I love learning new terms and getting to see what her passion is for this!
I work 24 hours as an EMT on a ambulance and obviously we also spend lots of time at the hospitals, I always wondered what it was like for the doctors during those types of shifts as well! So cool to see things from your side :)
What i really love about your medical videos is the fact that you never moan or groan whenever your pager goes off, Or the fact that you have to work a 24-30hr call shift. I applaud to your hard work because i never knew how difficult and time consuming it must be, and of course, medicine does take time, yet you’re never the one to slack on it. I love how passionate you are about your job and every time you talk to us on the camera, you can see the passion in your eyes when you explain what is going on. I also love how respectful you are when talking about patients and their condition.
I had appendicitis recently and had to get my appendix taken out and had to wait 2 days for my surgery because my white blood cell count was so high, (which scared my mom because she thought it was yet at the time i was 17, so in the hospital i was at, I was considered a minor so they didn’t have any pediatricians. (don’t know why but all well) so i had to be transported to another hospital. Yet it took 2 days because of how rushed the hospital was, so seeing your side of view gives me an understanding
Oh and also, when i had been taken by the paramedic, the chief firefighter was giving my parents such a hard time because he asked “Why couldn’t you take her?” to my mom, which made her furious because in that state my mom was relying on them to help me.
Haha this got too long; but I really do applaud people like you who really take pride and passion in the work that you do❤️
As a new nurse, working in the hospital for the first time, it is very scary but seeing your videos gives me the confidence to further my education to an NP or PA. Your calm and pleasant demeanor is inspirational. I like that you show the experience along with the other roles in the hospital. Thanks for the encouragement. : )
you seem so much more in tune to your patients, positive, and organized than any of the doctors that ive seen
Hi Siobhan! My best friend is a 3rd year internal medicine resident in America. Watching your vlogs has really helped me understand better what she goes through in her 28 hr shifts. Thank you so much for your awesome and insightful videos! ❤️
You are my HERO, I am a first year A.D.N student, I Love your videos and share them with my Online classmates. You always touch on a subject I am Studying (Obviously) yet even when I am overwhelmed and beside myself watching your video's makes me me so happy and excited! You're my "Saving Grace"
I used to be on call. I found calls just after dropping off left me with brain fog and made it hard to get back to sleep after dealing with the incident. Respect for still smiling (at least for the camera) at the end of your shift.
On call sounds like fun x) I wonder if RNs are on call, too..?
I have health Issues that lead me in the hospital more than I’d like to be. When I have nurses and doctors with your demeanor, it makes for a better experience. I enjoy you blogs.
Siobhan..as a retired APRN, I truly enjoy your vlogs..brings back a wonderful time in my life. Thanks so much for making these. By the way, as I said in your last video, I have watched/ listened to it well over 100 times and will continue to listen to it frequently until the feast of the 3 kings...exquisite. Thanks Doc!
SO much respect for people in the medical field. Still catching up on all the videos as I am a new subscriber. As someone who was recently diagnosed with insomnia, (the kind where you sleep and sleep but don't feel rested) I am convinced that folks like you are superhuman. Seriously I'd be dead attempting all that! Thanks for sharing.
I would love to see a day off as a doctor 👩⚕️
Can I just say how much your videos have helped me understand the behind the scenes of a hospital? My grandma had to go into the hospital last month because of COPD and a sickness.
The idea of hospitals really freak me out and probably always will but how calmly you explain the behind the scenes and the routines of the doctors really let me put a real world sense into the whole ordeal. Yes, I was still very scared and cried one more than one occasion but your videos allowed me to have faith in the doctors to do their best! Thank you for the videos. You really have no idea how many ways they may help people!
Golden words for a resident: "cant wait for my head to hit the pillow"
Tired post call! All the best!
Fabiha Gm only second year med student, not graduated yet, not a doctor, not a resident, just a student on early residency (you have to be graduated to be a resident, you can take residency early depending on your university in conjunction with courses)
@@amarahc4351 Are you reffering to Siobhan? If so you should educate yourself before trying to educate others.
@@amarahc4351 she literally starts the video off saying "hi I'm siobhan, a second year medical resident" where does It say she's a student? 😂
Amarah C jealous??? damn people like you are nasty 🤮
@@amarahc4351 She said she's a second year medical RESIDENT and she has never metioned being a student. Please get your ears checked before attacking others.
I still don’t get it. I’m a trucker and after 14 hours I have to shut down because I become a danger but after 23 hours a dr might have to preform life saving surgery!
Ass backwards
you raise an excellent point... I have wondered the same thing to be honest!
@@ViolinMD I've had a 15+ hour surgery myself (scoliosis), I don't want to know how much the surgeon slept before and after that. I just know I told him to go home and sleep the day before.
Scottish government want to stop nurses working 12 hours shifts because it’s a long day. Doctors do 24 hours shift and nobody sees a problem with that.
The challenge is that you have two non-ideal situations to choose between: provider exhaustion or the telephone game. Having worked as a paramedic and allied health professional before medical school, I've lost track of how many times information I discovered failed to make it past the nurses to the physicians, whether it was mistrust of my profession or just too many things going on, I can't say. The hospital I worked at changed 1 floor to 8-hour shifts for the nurses, and there were more errors on that floor because of this phenomenon. So yes, exhaustion can be very dangerous, but various studies have shown it safer than frequent shift changes.
Extraordinary World 12 hour shifts are long when you first start them... after a while you adjust. In MY opinion, I’d rather work 3 days a week at 12 hours/day than work 5 days at 8 hours/day. And I may be wrong about this but Physicians can sleep at some point during their 24 hour shift? Obviously not if it’s crazy busy but that still may be where they can recharge their batteries slightly.
You give load of useful information in every single one of your videos! I’m personally debating about wether or not I should go back to school for nursing! I like to think that watching your videos gives me some idea of what happens in a hospital!
I love watching your videos! I’m a psychiatric nurse and recently started working with residents. It’s different from your experience, but I feel more empathy for our residents after watching your videos.
as a nurse (sadly not in Canada) just wanted to say thank-you for being such a polite happy approachable Dr. It has a huge on the nurses work load. please keep being you :)
Ah, so glad to see a vlog from you! I'm stuck in bed with atypical walking pneumonia so I haven't been too happy but seeing you be so productive put a smile on my face. You're a really hard worker! You go girl!
I doubt you’ll see this but you’re so awesome. My daddy had stage 3 cancer and I truly believe it was doctors like you who kept him alive and helped him beat cancer. I remember a doctor such as yourself asking my momma how SHE was and if she needed anything dealing with my dads cancer and giving her a big hug. Good doctors make a difference.
Watching this because my boyfriend is a medical student and want to be more understanding towards him 😄
Watching your video is helping me fall asleep better. I have lots of anxiety for tomorrow but seeing you tackle so much has made me feel a lot more relaxed and snug in my warm bed. Thank you for all that you do! Treating patients and taking us along with you!!
Weeeee waited so long for an upload. I haven’t finish watching, but I already know it’s going to be good.
oh yayy! hope you enjoyed the rest of it Brianne!!
I'm only in my first year of pre-med and I already feel so sold on Internal Medicine because of your vlogs! Obviously I'm not gonna set my heart on anything--rotations will be the deciding factor, but I love all the diverse and complex diseases you get to see. Thank you for sharing!
This gives me anxiety. What a tough job 😭 thank you for all that you do
I'm Brazilian and I have a dream of becoming a doctor, and watching your videos just makes me want this even more! Looove your channel, I wanna be a doctor like you Siobhan, you inspires me!
I love your videos. In spite of the long hours and how hard you work, you emit positive energy and I am sure your patients feel that when they interact with you. :) You're an asset to your profession.
i love the enthusiasm you always have its contagious! making me excited for my future in the medical field!
My dream was always to be a doctor, but, that's not how my life went so it's interesting to see what and how a doctor's life is really like. You are lucky to be a doctor.
As someone with a chronic illness i would just be over the moon to have you has a doctor of mine. You look into everything and truly care about your patients
I am a violinist and an aspiring doctor! I am in high school right now, so this may be a bit too early to think about it, but how stressful was med school? LOVE YOUR VIDS. P.S. More violin videos would be great! I love watching people play!

Wow, so much energy and enthusiasm towards a job that isn't shown like this very often, great work! keep it up champ, save some lives!
Hi Dr. Siobhan! How do you manage to keep such a smiley face under all the pressure of being a resident?
aliya rodriguez Even on camera, working the the medical field (residency too) can be extremely exhausting, and as someone who can afford to skip a few grades and possibly head into college around 16 , I’m looking into the medical field because a LOT of people in my family have worked in the medical field. I’d like to know about how even on camera she’s so calm. (even when in one of her videos she responded to a code blue, she was totally calm)
Every doctor should ne treated like kings and queens...your work is soooo appreciated...these autoimmune diseases are sooo horrible..God bless you for all your hard work❤❤❤
You’re such a strong person!! Well done for working so hard. I really admire people like you!! 🧡
your job always seems so stressful, but you always seem so positive! you must really believe in what you do. I'm an accountant, but your vlogs are entertaining to me anyways.
Hi Siobhan! I messaged Tim Hortons on Facebook to see if they would sponsor you :). Another great video. I hope 2019 treats you and your family well!

Hi Siobhan, I appreciate your best medical services to the patients during your night shift. You are such a great doctor and I like your call answering to the patient's different inquiries
This is so awesome! Idk how you have the time and energy to vlog and edit while still maintaining your daily life! The vlog was very interesting and informative!
So great to see a doctor's perspective on working in a hospital! And you'd be great to work with as you seem so respectful of the intra-professional team from nurses to social workers to physio.
I hope you as an amazing Christmas! That seems exhausting just up, down and back and forth.
Thank you for giving us, the viewers, the reality of being a Dr! I can't promise I won't get mad that a Dr is taking forever to see me, but I will try my hardest to be more patient and understanding because now I know just how much you guys have to do all at once. Thank you!

you are a very friendly person.you are always very happy.the whole world loves you.
Your positivity is contagious. Love your attitude!😊
Whenever your pager goes off I have a visceral reaction from when my pager would go off in residency. You do a great job making inpatient care accessible to the general public and you’re a natural in front of the camera. Nice job.
watching this video, I feel SO tired for you!!! XD I love your calm and patient demeanor you seem very sweet!
You are literally the most respectful person I've ever seen. God bless.
What is the reasoning behind 24hr shifts? Wouldn’t it be better for patients care to have doctors fresh!
david paris From what I have heard (I'm not doctor so I mm not sure) it is actually easier. They get the day after off to rest. It is easier to work 24/26 hours then have the next day off then to work 8-14 hours and have to be back in the morning (for example, they would go in at 6am, get off at 6-8pm [Depending on hours] then have to be back at 6am the next day). After every shift they have Passover (i think that is what it is called) where they tell the new shift what happened and any new patients who were admitted. It makes the chance of something getting passed on wrong (or someone getting confused) in Passover as there are less times it is happening durning a 24 hour shift schedule.
I'm sure it's beneficial for continuity of care but I agree it must be really challenging.
@@giannag4917 They call it Handover
Eye-roll Anderson patient care comes first, that’s the point of health care, that’s kinda like saying astronauts shouldn’t have to spend there life in space... like.... that’s not in the best interest of the job....

Ahhh Tim Hortons.... The life blood of hospital operations across Canada ;)
It’s incredible people are willing to dedicate there time doing what doctors/nurses do! So props to you because i know it can be very overwhelming and scary at times. So we are very grateful for the work you all do! Because I could never do what you guys do.
I have worked night shift for 10 years now... I’ve always been a night owl and usually function best at night but I honestly think, no matter who you are, the 0400 slump is no joke!!!
Carrie Ellison so true.. I am such a night owl ..
Night owl right here also lol! It’s so funny because when I watch one of her or America Revere’s videos and it’s them on a night shift, I immediately get extra excited while at the same time like feel more relaxed and comfortable with myself too because that’s how I always feel at night and when I’ve worked extra late night or all night shifts in my jobs in the past. Haha it’s when I see them getting up SUPER early for their early morning and daytime shifts that I really get that awful gut feeling that always happens when I have to wake up then for work or another reason .... and I am always exactly in the very deepest part of my REM cycle right at those hours so I wake up like an extra from world war z lolololol 🤷🏻♀️🌌🦉💟 🤣 I would for sure perform better at 10pm-2 or 4am (or during an entire night shift) than at 5am-9am after being awoken from the dead right before without a doubt!!!! Lol 💕💕💕💕💕💕
Missed your videos the last while.
Hope you had a great festive season.
Thanks for a new vlog and a glimps into your nights at work. Thought to stay focused and on point with 6 patients. Hope to see so much more in the next year. Lots of well wishes
When you are in the middle of documenting something for a patient and get a page that requires you to go see a different patient, how do you prevent forgetting what you needed to document for the other patient?
I've always been reliant on carrying lists with (usually barely legible) to do list. It can get pretty long pretty fast :P
I want to know as well.
I know that from an EMS standpoint that you generally remember what you did even if you had back to back calls all day! It also helps to take notes when you are with the patient so that you can jog your memory in case you forget. This is what I have found out and it works for me.
ALWAYS keep a notepad with me and note the call so when I note someone and when the phone rings Ik where to continue after that call.
I love that you're always so ready and happy for all this. Im sure it can be stressful sometimes and im still a senior in highschool getting my CNA certificate. Im about to start clinical on the 3rd and im so nervous! You always cheer me up and make me feel confident about all this stuff. So thank you so much! I always love your vids
Dr. Siobhan what happens if you don’t return a pager? Just curious🧐
They try again, or they contact another internal medicine resident. She is the senior resident so in emergency type situations she would be the go-to, so in those situations I'm not sure what would happen if she didn't return the page!
TK people would die and she’d probably be fired
@@26vampirediaries In our hospital, we'd usually try again and then it's protocol to page their senior. The senior is usually not a happy bunny,... especially if we have to contact them about a non-responsive page at 3am.
Great question Joanna! As TK mentioned, in this situation, if I didn't answer as the senior resident they would likely call my attending physician at home... if it's an emergency they would likely call the ICU staff. There tends to be a protocol for these things! Hope that never happens to me though!!
@@ViolinMD having your attending called at home does not sound like something anyone wants to go through 😬
I am really loving this channel. Thank you for sharing your specialty with us! You seem like a fantastic doctor!
thank you so much for these videos! they're great!

Ok. You've just completed a 24 hour shift.
Are you walking home? And if anyone has to drive home do you have systems in place for a taxi?
Absolutely agree w/the documentation aspect of health-care provision. If something isn't documented about the patient, then it wasn't done/didn't happen. Logging patient care interactions takes a lot of time, but definitely in the best interests of both patient and provider. Thanks for sharing.
She is so tired but how the heck does she have the dedication to pick a camera up and talk I APPLAUD YOU

1) what’s the difference between a surgical residency and an internal medicine residency?
2) How long is your residence?
Thanks!

I hope you had a nice Christmas and have a happy new year! My mom works (behind the scenes) in IT and she had to work (from home) helping many hospitals. Everyone decided to have a break.
Do you believe that there should be a mandatory break time. I’m sure that being up for that long with little to no rest can impact your thinking.
Apythy at a 6 figure salary they can sacrifice breaks.... tim hortons night shifts don’t get breaks.... what high horse are you on?
@@amarahc4351 after reading all of your replies and comments to this video you obviously do not work in the medical profession and have no idea how hard it is.
As a nurse, Ive gone 12 hours without eating and peeing and could barely drive home from the exhaustion.
Would you want to be deathly ill and be seen by a doctor who has been awake for 23 hours? Its been scientifically proven that sleep deprovation causes issues with mental clarity and hand eye coordination. Lots of different careers make 6 figure salaries.. medical residents dont usually make that much. Regardless it doesnt mean you deserve to work in crappy conditions.
Alisa Mich tim hortons staff aren’t responsible for people health and well-being
Amarah C you have me dying. Like working at a mindless job like Tim Hortons is anything compared to being a doctor. Anyone could work at Tim Horton’s, it’s literally a NO SKILL job.
Hey I love your channel. I have been watching for almost a year and I never get board. I like that you explain everything so well it never gets board.
You kinda remind me (your face) of Rey from Star Wars! Don’t worry! It’s a good thing because she is beautiful like everybody is! You are beautiful and knowledgeable! :)
I had ALL and ended up having a bone marrow transplant and it is really cool to see this side of what the doctors do. It is incredible how intelligent you all are and how well you work in teams! I remember when the team would do rounds in the morning and they would usually do me last because I was a teenage boy and needed my sleep, but all the doctors and residents would come in and start speaking a foreign language 😂 But they did such a good job of explaining! Ever time I meet a doctor or nurse I thank them for all they do! You and everyone in the medical field are so amazing!! THANK YOU!
Despite hectic schedule I wish you and your fiancee a Happy New Year and great adventures in 2019 :)
As soon as you went to catch some sleep, I was just waiting for that pager to go off! It’s awesome what you do :)
I’m in nursing school but your channel is so fascinating. How long is residency for you? How many days a week are you in the hospital?
