Hi Lorraine, if you are able to camp with a Smart car there are no excuses for anyone to be able to camp with anything bigger than the Smart car. You have instilled confidence in a lot of folks. Good job? Good video.
I saw a couple videos on some very tiny trailers made for motorcycle's that pop up or unfold into a camping unit that is about as big as your smart car. Pretty neat.
Rob MM Wrong. Some cars just dont work without major mods. I wanted to do this with my '92 honda accord, but the rear seat wouldn't fold even close to flat. The rear seat was not removable (as far as i could tell) and there was also a large plastic reinforcement piece back there that was built into the car.
I just love your inventiveness and creativity, you've not only managed to create a super micro camper that's full of practicality from cabin to tailgate, but in doing so you've retained the essential ability to access the driving seat should you ever decide that a quick exit is prudent. The benefits of having a Smart Car have never been so good, you've brought a whole new level of independence, practicality, saving and fun to an already clever concept. I'd perhaps think about modifying a tarp or getting a small hatchback tent annexe to give a sheltered cooking, sitting, washing/toilet space out of bad weather.
BroMotion HighwayMan If you do have a desire to be a human sardine , Make sure you have plenty of petroleum jelly and a crow bar , And serious injury insurance , Cause if your not fucked up getting in , You're going to be coming out !😜
@RHONDA HALL Human sardine :)))))))))))))) Great!! But, if you have a quite big apartment and very much you want to travel compleately Independent, this is a perfect solution!! Lady in the Smart showed me, that it is possible!! :)
For some reason, I’m very happy watching this video. Awesome! I am just so grateful for you sharing this video because when on occasion, I see smart cars, I always think that a full sized car has been cut in the middle. This is really a very eye opener video. I drive a pick-up and the back is just wasted space. Ugh!
wow! Awesome. Ann's I'm trying to figure out outfitting my Toyota yaris. yours is so much smaller. this gives me hope. this a great. thank you for sharing.
Thank you Ma'am. I so appreciated your advice. I own a beautiful passion in red. My only concern was the sleeping arrangements you have solved that for me. Kindest regards Johnny Hurlbut from England.
Lorraine Forster Now I've got to convert that into miles and gallons us... your mini does 298.25 miles on 7.93 gallons. Or almost 38 mpg. Not too shabby!
@Jim Patriot True, but the tenth year maintenance on the Prius is at 1,000 for battery renovation, 3000 for a brake actuator, 1000 for a dash cluster, and another 2 to 3000 when the engine starts knocking or burning too much oil ... Basically, mine was built to tight tolerances for ten year max life. I'd just get a 40 mpg gas only 2018 Camry vs another Prius again; at least you save on hybrid related parts.
I’m 6’3” and had a smart for two back in 08. I fit nicely in it but maybe not for camping.... great to see that you are enjoying it! Man, I miss my Smarty....
Wow! Kudos to you for this! I have a 2009 and absolutely love it. Maybe I’ll have to try camping in it sometime too! Cool video, I’m glad I stumbled across it:)
I have a smart and I just love it! It's so economical and really roomy inside. It's deceptive what you can pack into a smart car. Love your idea of sleeping in it, I wonder if you could do it with two people inside. Thanks for sharing 👍😊
Anything is truly possible!!! Thanks for sharing, I’m planning a cross country solo trip and have been seriously considering car camping to save money. If it can be done in a smart car it can be done in anything! Great job
Wow! Now I know I can turn my Mazda CX-9 into an rv for my husband, myself and the dog for next summer. Your Smart Car has me pumped!! Thank you for sharing!
I’m impressed. Living in Grande Prairie Alberta the gate way to Alaska I have seen every kind of unit venturing north to the great state. I have never seen a smart car as a camper . Truly ingenious. Enjoy.👍
Years ago I went camping on a smallish 250 cc motorcycle. You’d be surprised what I carried in 2 side saddle bags, rolled up tent and sleeping bag, fastened with straps on the pillion seat and a shoulder bag resting on that. All up I had food, water, cooking utensils, a radio, chess set and other amusements, like calculator games, and some books. And it was actually quite comfortable. I’m sure one could carry a lot more in a Smart car. But I am impressed with the setup in this YT video, but at 5ft 9ins I may be a bit too long to sleep comfortably. Have slept well in my Hyundai Getz, though. Even so I could imagine one could pack enough camping gear into a Smart, for say, 2 weeks away, and even if one didn’t sleep in the car, you could still have enough for comfortable camping.
I absolutely love your camper! It's easy and well planned. I hope you re - video any SMART changes as most car campers are works in progress. Happy safe adventures to you. Rick
You are an inspiration, lol !!! Genius, I have a Smart... I'd like to see more of the boards, how they lay and how you store them. To keep the bugs out you can drape a over the bed "netting" or the nets that go over patio umbrellas ...Great Job !!
Wow, thank you ☺ I've been looking on here for ideas on how to go about it with my Suzuki alto..Now I know what to do, get a board cut to size for my bed! 👍
Thats what you call making fabulous use of a tiny space, can't say how impressed I am, watch some videos that have much larger vehicles that look a right untidy mess, really nice living space for one to get out and explore.
Andy Gillz I carried a 10 foot kayak in my smart car, sticking out the back or course. But it gave me the idea that i must be able to fit a bed in there!
Wow. I would have thought this was impossible! I just converted a Pontiac Vibe into a stealth micro camper and was looking at other micro campers and stumbled on your channel. I am thoroughly IMPRESSED. Of course, I think being a short/small person also helps in this case. ;) Still...very impressive.
Thanks Lorraine, for the inspiration. My car is a tiny 4 seater, so I have a little more room to accomodate my larger body, but I will have the same set-up - layout as you. Freedom above all. Happy camping !!
That is amazing! I feel cramped sometimes even in my 1998 Saturn SL. I’m switching over to my old 1996 Dodge Caravan because I thought I’d be more comfortable with more space. You put us all to shame with your Smart Car camper... well done!!
Scout Register.... Great idea about going X Country! 1 question though- I've got a 2016 fortwo hard-top. Im' 5ft 11 inches tall. Will i fit sleeping in this setup? Thx!
That's amazing! I wish my Prius had more hideaway space like you have in your tailgate. Perfect for you! I am 6', and I have just a few inches left of free space. Width is not bad, as I can fit my Dometic sideways behind the driver's seat on the folded-down back seat. My plan is to transition into a camping vehicle that gives me more space and allows me to stand. Meanwhile, I am shoveling away the savings, and growing my social security numbers. I'm 60 this year. Love your setup!!!!
Ha, that's pretty cool! At first I thought your bed boards would slip off of that little ledge on the dashboard if you moved too much. But then I figured they were kept in a forward position when the tailgate is up?? I never knew those smart cars had a sun roof. Nice. Thanks for sharing.
Same Smart as mine, and same colour. I would need to keep the boot open to make space for my feet. Maybe some sort of tent-like material would work to extend the rear to the end of the boot lids. Something to think about :-)
Smart cars are also great at football tailgate parties. Since it has a plastic liner, we fill the entire tailgate storage box with ice and load it up with our favorite brew of the day!
Wow, nice! I've done car camping in my car a few times (double-crewed and single-crewed), which is the same size as a modern VW Golf. I tend to carry a lot of stuff so when I went double-crewed I had a roofbox for storage.
That's the cutest thing i ever did see. Would fit me to a T, i'm 5'4". Been trying to figure out how to do this with an Elf or Veemo type vehicle. A closed in, solar electric tricycle. Can only do 30mph so can't go on highways but, the slow, scenic route is fine by me. Best bit, no costs for fuel, drivers permit, registration or insurance.
Hi Lorraine, if you are able to camp with a Smart car there are no excuses for anyone to be able to camp with anything bigger than the Smart car. You have instilled confidence in a lot of folks. Good job? Good video.
that's what I am thinking, great job,
It would not work for taller people.
I clicked on this thinking it was a joke. Color me impressed! At 5' 10", I'm keeping my Prius, though.
You win the miniest house reward🎪🏆
And here I was going to tow mine !
Now that's a tiny home! Lol Good job!
I thought I'd seen it all. Next up: How to live out of your motorcycle
NicholsKT Ha Ha Ha 😂😂🤣🤣 Maybe a tent that pops out of a tank bag??
I saw a couple videos on some very tiny trailers made for motorcycle's that pop up or unfold into a camping unit that is about as big as your smart car. Pretty neat.
NicholsKT lol
Lol
Well if it has a towbar....
Smart woman in a Smart car.
Shut the fuck up, please shut the fuck up.
Lukáš Král 🤨 whats your damage bruh.
Maybe he's badly hurt how a small car can be compared to a big RV, which is very very very costly.
@@driphank9705 Whats the problem?
@@andreas-v-1098 dude my comment is a year old i dont even remember it
You made that car smarter!!! :-)
I think you must be the winner of most clever compact rv. Impressed!
Lorraine's video PROVES , any car is fit for dwelling.

Back in the 60’s, a friend of mine camped around the country in a VW bug. Set his cot up diagonally inside.
You just set car camping to the whole new level. What’s the next smaller car from the Smart car? Any challenger? You rock!!
lets see someone do it in a Peel P50
BroMotion HighwayMan

The original Mini Cooper.
@RHONDA HALL Human sardine :)))))))))))))) Great!! But, if you have a quite big apartment and very much you want to travel compleately Independent, this is a perfect solution!! Lady in the Smart showed me, that it is possible!! :)
I will be camping out on my new Honda fit! At last i will be free
Camped for over a month at a time last 2 years. Love my Fit.
Is that the same as the Jazz?
I seriously thought this was a joke until i watched the video, and your not 4 foot tall either. Great job.
So far I was sure that Smart is only about 63-65 inches in length! Now I see that the interior has as long as KIA Picanto II. And is wider!! Amazing!
I had a Smmartcar and never considered doing that. You are a minimalist for sure. Good Luck!
This is wonderful! I have a smart and never thought of using the special storage spaces in this way!
wow, who would have thought !! XD you're my new hero for rocking the smart RV ! :D
For some reason, I’m very happy watching this video. Awesome! This just proves that if you want to do something it can be done! I NEVER would have imagined using a smart car as a camper! Kudos to her ingenuity!
That is a really awesome set up! You did a great job!
Soni Medina Thanks! All it takes is a bit of imagination😁
wow! Awesome. Ann's I'm trying to figure out outfitting my Toyota yaris. yours is so much smaller. this gives me hope. this a great. thank you for sharing.
Kristofer Travels Yaris would be great car for this if you can fit comfortably. Reliable car with low mpg
DanOfTheWild no I have a gym membership.
Check out the UA-camr "Pam On The Lam", Pam traveled with a small Yaris for 8 months in 2017.
Actually there is a video on youtube about camping in a Toyota Yaris!
Thank you Ma'am. I so appreciated your advice. I own a beautiful passion in red. My only concern was the sleeping arrangements you have solved that for me. Kindest regards Johnny Hurlbut from England.
Lorraine-too cool. I’m impressed
Just when you think you've seen it all...
I have a SMARTIE...very tempted to camp. Thank you!
Wow !!! That's a fantastic setup!! Thanks for sharing. Bet it gets hella gas mileage too.
No Mortgage Nomad I get about 480 km on 30 litres of gas
Lorraine Forster Now I've got to convert that into miles and gallons us... your mini does 298.25 miles on 7.93 gallons. Or almost 38 mpg. Not too shabby!

I love your camper and creativity.
Just camped in my SUV for the first time this past weekend and a friend sent me the link to your video. I have some more ideas now! Thank you!! 😊
I have a smart and I just love it! It's so economical and really roomy inside. It's deceptive what you can pack into a smart car.

I want to put this setup in my Mercedes A-class. It's bit longer than the smart, so now I know, that it will work. Thanks for sharing.
Moe Simir You can do it!!!
this really cool ! never thought the smart can be capable to be camper !
This is a great and easy way to camp and save space. It’s great for money saving! Love it! Maybe I’ll try this when I’m older!
Wow, good for you! Very cool. A Honda Fit is only slightly larger on the outside but MUCH bigger inside and would be my choice. But props to you.
Absolutely amazing, thank you so much for showing us how you did all that!
And I thought my Cadillac Deville was to small to go camping myself lol.You are a smart lady ,thank you for sharing your video
Great idea, now all we need is a 4 wheel drive smart car✌
That is brilliant! I'm very impressed. I think a small solar panel and LED lighing would help. But WOW.
This is amazing! I thought my DIY Transit Connect conversion was small!
Wonderful idea. So creative!

Wow! If a tiny little SmartCar can convert to a camper ANY kind of car can! Impressive! Happy trails.
Wow that's impressive! We thought we were pushing it for space as we travel and sleep in our tiny Mini Cooper!
I used to camp with a motor cycle. This looks like a palace to me.

Excellent use of space! Very creative.
Wish I could give you two thumbs up!! The new record for tiny campers. Have fun!!
Surprisingly comfortable set up. Great rig. Never would have thought of it, but seems to work perfect.
I thought my cavalier was small! Good job, and very nice setup.

I really wasn't sure about little smart car's but you sure made yours look very nice. This is a great idea for smart car owners. way to go.
Seriously impressive never thought anyone can ever sleep in a smart car too impressive.
Andy Gillz I carried a 10 foot kayak in my smart car, sticking out the back or course. But it gave me the idea that i must be able to fit a bed in there!

I'm 6'3 375, ex football player, i could not get into a smart car i have tried, but love this!
I’ve done this several times in my 2010 and my 2016 Smarts! Am thinking of doing a cross country adventure!
Scout Register.... Great idea about going X Country! 1 question though- I've got a 2016 fortwo hard-top. Im' 5ft 11 inches tall. Will i fit sleeping in this setup? Thx!
Dump Trump, CHUMP! It’s definitely harder in the 16 than the previous model, but if you have a setup like this you should fit I would think
Such a cute set up! Looks super cozy. Thank you for sharing
That's another interesting one. I'm 5'3 so this would probably work for me. Thanks for the idea!
I just bought a Kia Soul. It's a suburban compared to his. This gives me ideas. Great video!!

SPCLPONY Yes! The tailgate locks it all in place.
Alright nice job! Advantages of being tiny.. happy for you, really cool.
I'm 5 foot 1. I could easily fit in there. Good job. Looks nice and cozy!
👍This I gotta see. I can’t even imagine. 🤔 Well I guess one could do it with a tent and outdoor seating. Thanks for sharing. 💞
Cutest RV to have. Thank you for sharing this video Lorraine. Already subscribed to your channel and hope to see your adventures in future.

Well done Lorraine! Love it!
Ulf Meijer Thanks! It waa fun to do.
I had to sleep in my Smart once ,it's impossible,no room. This is brilliant.
Very well done..as the new owner of a 2014 smart for two i have become very interested in all things Smart..giggle

This is some really impressive ingenuity! Very inventive.

I used to have one of these, the CDI version. Used to do near on 90mpg on a run ! Superb three cylinder diesel engine.
Wow makes my Honda fit look like a palace! That's so cool
Amazing,, good job Lorraine!!
That’s great! Perfect for short camping trips. Well done.
Glad you did this! I have a smart car and it’s nice to know should I need to leave!
What a terrific set up. I like your style.
This is the best tiniest camper I've ever seen
Oh.My.God. ( first thing I thought when I read the title of the video) that's really impressive.
That's the cutest thing i ever did see. Would fit me to a T, i'm 5'4". Been trying to figure out how to do this with an Elf or Veemo type vehicle. A closed in, solar electric tricycle.
