Never too old. I’m 67 and after hanging my keys for 5 years I’m back on the road. Today I go from Billings Montana to Cody Wyoming, then Grant Village in Yellowstone. Off I go… talk soon!😊
The bloomin horse flies have started thier nonsense here in the Alpujarras. Sadly Marmite doesn't help, I eat loads and I think it just marinated me more! Avon skin so soft or Smidge might help If you're passing by I have spare Marmite and the horse flies might leave me alone if you're around so feel free to visit! 😂
Hey Nick, Sarah, Charlie and Diz. We LOVE Van build shows and this is why we are sticking with your channel, plus we LOVE listening to the RAIN on the roof. Keep these coming and we are not going anywhere 😀 Regards from London
never too old! Your videos helped inspire us to go full time and start our own channel - and we're a lot older than you. Glad your back on the road again
58, living in my large car for near on 5 years, never looked back, travelled around Europe twice, Scotland both ways around, Spain,Portugal - virtually every cm, I reckon I got another 20 yrs in me, so much more to see 😁, enjoy it while it lasts, we ain't got long 😁
You guys are a riot ! Thanks for new way to tie-dye clothes. Those doggies sure are cute, well behaved...and certainly know when you are talking about them.
The first time I watched you guys (and immediately started following) you were giving us a guided tour of Vinnie- and I was forever impressed when you said "and this is where we hang our TWO cups" - I see it's still two cups!
Haha, yeah the cups have been there the whole time, never fallen down, sometimes we put them too close together and the knock when driving but never broken!! 😅😊
❤ Love it all, southern España is very similar to Texas Hill Country regions. Temperatures, dry summers, big hills, and the scrubby type trees and brush. “Take the rough with the smooth”, amen! That is truth in good living. 🍻
Sarah, heating things up in the moho, I would use my Ridge Monkey pan. They come in all shapes and sizes. You can flip the pan over rather than turning the contents over. We like pizza in ours, cut the pizza in half, fold so that crust is on the outside and cook, turning the pan. It would have also worked for your lasagne.
As soon as I saw the title the van life is not what it used to be... I got disappointed and worried about losing you all and never seeing you at all. Hope you ll have the best van life and still enjoy it albeit those negative things you had to endure.
It's the other way around for us! I get bitten all the time and they leave Wills alone, so I'm feeling Nicks pain! Everything crossed you get your paperwork this week and then you can head off - near the coast where there are less bitey things! 🍻
Nick I read an article that describes the marmite thing. If you consume daily it let's vapour through you skin that the bugs hate. Also buy Fenistil from the farmica. It works really quick if you put it on as soon as you have the bite. We get our Marmite from Overseas in Mijas Costa but you could get it at the Sotogrande one. Also some carrefour carry it in the international section.
You carnt ever stop doing the vlogs you pair keep me sane 😂, and it’s Yorkshire tea for us nice and strong so it bends the spoon when you stir it 😂love the tie dye
I have a vitamin b12 defficiency and they love me. Eating extra b12, eg marmite, won't help if your body struggles to absorb b12 into the bloodstream. Apparrently the little nasties can detect blood with low b12. That might be why they love you Nick.
I was moved to comment as I feel your pain about gnats and biting insects. Left UK 40 years ago for a life in Canada. Suffered for the first few years with huge reactions to bites, Canadian friends and later off spring nothing. It took a while to build up an immunity. Here are some ideas as we spend a lot of time in the bug infested wilderness. Get lightweight tight woven pants and shirts, spray them with repellent and wear when necessary. Keep them just for that purpose.Use head netting so you can sit outside without swatting. After bite (ammonia) for the itch take benedryl. One time in northern Ontario couldn’t sleep because of the truck noise somewhere. No it was the million mosiquitoes on the window screens! Never so satisfying to spray repellent on the screens. You can have a good time even with bugs.
When I turned seventy I had my C1 licence taken from me in their wisdom, so my Hymer tag axel motorhome had to go, it took 3 months after my seventieth birthday to finally get my driving licence off me all that time waiting for notification I could drive the van. We went all over the continent without any problems for over 40 years, but the magic age of seventy stuffed us, I couldn't be bothered getting another smaller van. Funny I now don't miss it😐
It breaks my heart that being “too old” for things is such an ingrained part of British culture. I literally hear 28 year olds here saying “well I’m getting older so I have to stop travelling”. 28 is a baby! Don’t let the patriarchy and society brainwash you in to aging and hanging up your keys. Keep going for as long as you possibly can and remember that today, in this moment in this minute in this hour - it’s the youngest you’ll ever be again. In ten years time you’ll back and wish to be as young, healthy, fit and energetic as you are now. Stop wishing your life away with this age nonsense xo
I am 72, in our 9th year with our Vivaro and still okay, but our trips are max 1 month, many shorter ones too. Based in central Portugal we must cross Spain and France to get where we we want to go. Spain doesn't have much shade when you stop, France is better from that point of view. Who knows about the future....
Dizzy loving sitting in hammock. Bless him. You arent old, wait till you are neally 80 and have to sit indoors watching both of you when sun is shining, but would be cold outside. Love your tie dyes, look really good
Nick drink some tonic water… it has Quinine in and the the little biting bugs hate it … give it a try and hope it works…. Absolutely love your channel … 👨👧🐕🐕🦺
I was 54 when i started vanlife, age is just a number. Good news on the medical results 😊 Fresh garlic bulbs hanging in the van keeps midges & mosquitos down. Love the revamped Clothes 😊 atb ❤
My favorite tea is chamomile, every night. Also really like peach ginger turmeric. I have at least 10 kinds of tea. I’m almost 74, and I am just now trying to set up a good overnight camp sleep system in my SUV. I haven’t been camping in 40 years. Nobody wants to go anymore. It’s too hot now - 102 here today in my beautiful toasting hot New Mexico. I will take my dog, but the cats can’t go. So only overnights nearby. I was almost ready to go, but got stalled till this heat wave came upon us. You inspired me, so you have to keep taking me through “New Country Days” again! ❤
Nick , clingon lololol arrhhh. Sarah you are so handy!!!! We live off grid, we have a superb off grid propane gas stove. If we want to warm something up and don't want it to become too crispy,we warm it up the really old fashioned way like my grandma would. Put a plate with food to be warmed and then another plate on top ( or tinfoil), on a sauce pan with boiling water and it does a great job heating through xx
We Love watching you guys such a real channel. Favorite tea hibiscus with elderberry.we use our air fryer to cook in our van. Sarah 💜May I say this in the kindest way I think you are such a beautiful woman, and I would really love to see you get rid of those dreads.
Hey guys, the audio sounded muffled to me this week. (Just an fyi) I love being outdoors, too, but bugs can be so irritating! Luckily, we moved to the Pacific North West, and now, when we camp, the bugs aren't nearly as bad❤ I love your DYI stuff!! ❤❤❤
Really LOVE the colour of both your shirts after Sarah worked On them. I love these colours more than the original colour to be honest. Those moskito bites....poor Nick. Hope you can start travelling in your new van next week. Can't wait, bay Ingrid
Hi Nick Sarah, I just watched your latest vlog. it was lovely to see you back in Vinnie out on your travels. I'm sure Nick wasn't enjoying the midges 😮I hate them😂 apart from the midges it looked like you were really chilling and the doggies of course😊 I'm sure you can't wait to get in the new van🤞🙏 looking forward to next week episode❤❤ Steve 😊
The mossies seems to love me too, so annoying! Apparently some research shows they like type O blood, but also genetic in way you emit chemicals. They're also attracted to by the Carbon Dioxide we breath out, basically, they're a tough enemy! One thing I did find a little useful is to have a fan blowing by you, they don't seem to like turbulent air so it keeps them away a bit, I use a little 12v twin fan.
Mosquitoes are turned off by several natural scents, including citronella, peppermint, cedar, catnip, patchouli, lemongrass, lavender and more. You can add some of these plants to your landscaping to fend them off.
Get some Avon Skin so soft to ward off the midgies. They eat me alive too so feel your pain. Good luck getting the paperwork through. I’m looking forward to seeing you on your adventures again. 👍
I think a double boiler to heat something. Enjoy the hearty, genuine content. If you ever need a water diviner to find your own borehole let me know. I'm a professional and tutor for tbe British Society of Dowsers.😉
I spent last winter in Andalucía and found it so much harder in my little van than pre COVID days and had the feeling I was too old! A combination of my little van being a bit too uncomfy and also not too many bugs but too many blinkin vans! I’m super glad I had my van travel experiences in the past but I think now for me it’s jut going to be little weekend trips rather than trying to live in a van
Thanks for sharing, yeah it definitely get harder as you get a little older and I think we will be just fine with the extra space for us and the doggies, the dogs need more chill time to nowadays so having a bigger lounge area for them is important too.. Too many vans is an issue for sure leading to more and more signs going up saying you can’t park overnight etc.. Anyway, thanks for watching and have a lovely weekend ♥️❤️
@@theexPAWers So good that you have the new van. That would definitely make a difference to me for sure, something with more space! Hope the paperwork comes through for you soon .. and yes it’s going to be interesting to see what new regulations will come into play. Just this last week in Tarifa, a new committee has been set up for autocaravana management. Equally, enjoy the weekend!!
Green tea with jasmine is my fav tea, my hubby and I just brought a Toyota coaster bus, Betsy the bus hopeing to go travelling around Australia. Love your vlogs.
Sara, I sometimes use two woks. One at the base over the flame and one on top upside down! Works a treat even though I have an oven and microwave. Saves gas!
Great little vlog … ands I too must say never say .. ‘too old’ I do get that you may like a few more luxuries .. which you’re new van will provide 🙏🚌🩷 I’ve messaged you some links for bug bites in your jnsta messages! Have a great week 🌞🦋😎😍
Great to be out on a little adventure guys , hope you soon get velton on the rd ,try using skin so soft original body spray by Avon for the little biters ,it really works , and yes ,I love my pukka assorted herbal teas 🤗
Vapour rub on temples, wrist and ankles deters bug bites but if you get bit, dunk a metal spoon in boiling water quickly then put on bite, eases the irritation 😊
Hi ya great videos. Highlight of my week. To keep midges and mosquitoes out of your van hang dry Lavender next to openings. They don't like the smell. My ex was allergic to migdies. We lived on a boat. It works surprisingly well. The other tip.if you can get some Avon skin so soft. It's the best thing to use.Nick will thank you . Think the army may use it . Keep the great videos coming. You will soon be enjoying all your hard work ❤
Hi guys, Tiger Balm is good for bites, takes the itch away. You said about Marmite, when my kids were young, my daughter lived on marmite sandwiches, but my son hated it! We went to Malta and had a mosquito in the room, my daughter had one bite on her face, my son had 19 no exaggeration, on his face & ears. It was awful, so maybe there is some truth in it! Great Vlog as always, you always find such beautiful places to park up! Have a good week guys, lotsa love ❤️
Yes, well, my friends LOVE camping with me because I am a Mosquito and Midgie magnet. I end up with huge welts, the biggest was the size of a tennis ball - my friends were astonished! I make every effort not to scratch, as I find that spreads the 'poison' further. I always have anti-histamine in my first aid kit. I would recommend "Good Riddance" Tropical Essential Oil, lemon scented tea tree and citronella - works a treat, I wear it like a perfume &/or burn/ diffuse it. My current favourite tea is Brilliant Peppermint and Luscious Liquorice blend organic tea. Thanks for sharing your adventure and woes - 🤞 the paperwork is done by next week... Cheers 💚
The Expawers are on the move again! I’m so excited about your coming adventures! Velton is going to be awesome! I know you are so proud of all your hard work. You should be! Vanlife…with the Expawers…FUN! FUN! FUN! Thanks for having me along! Jeannine
Peppermint oil is the best bug repellent but there is a blend of essential oil called TerraShield contains Citronella, Lemongrass, Thyme, Cedarwood, Geranium, and Peppermint essential oils in a sesame seed base can use this as a repellent spray, there plenty others with slight different essential oils mixtures but get one that has peppermint ❤️
To keep the midges at bay, use Avon Skin So Soft bath oil. Just apply it like a lotion to your skin. You will love the smell and the midges will stay away. And contrary to what you might read elsewhere, it will not keep mozzies away. You have to have something else to banish them.
You asked about favourite tea. Mine's Darjeeling. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it for a really decent cup of tea. Once you two get going in Velton, you'll have a whale of a time!
We love travelling in our camper and like you guys have a base in Andalusia and, at the moment, one in the Uk. We are late 50’s so you guys are fine for a few years 😂😂 great vid 😊
I think having more space is going to make big difference. Maybe the older you get you do more room. Anyway it's so good to you all make on the road. And the little doggies look so chill . And like they're having so much fun . Take care Looked and Sara I'm with you I love mint tea

Burn citrus to get rid of your migis and mosquito or by any spray with dety in it
❤❤❤❤

Have a fantastic time.. Goid for you.. Keep enjoying life and I hope we’re still living the dream when we’re 67 👏 ❤
Wrap your lasagna fingers in tin foil. Put it on a frying pan and heat up, turning it over few times. It could work, maybe? ❤
The bloomin horse flies have started thier nonsense here in the Alpujarras. Sadly Marmite doesn't help, I eat loads and I think it just marinated me more!
Avon skin so soft or Smidge might help
If you're passing by I have spare Marmite and the horse flies might leave me alone if you're around so feel free to visit! 😂
We were actually in those places this time 2014! It was Fantastic - we’d love to revisit & road trip USA! Enjoy !

Teaspoon of marmite works a treat 🤙🏼great video guys, good to see old Vincter 😎
Thanks you guys, love marmite, need to get a stock up of the stuff from somewhere soon (hard to get it in Spain!) xxxx
I work with lots of older (80+) but still very enthusiastic, brilliant people. The advice they always give me is 'If you CAN do it, DO it'. xXx
Great advice for everyone ❤
I'm 83 next month and it ain't as easy as it used to be

Yep, very true.. We do like the heat and the bugs come and go so all good 😊
Except with a ton of culture xo
@@RiddimKingdom Hey, don’t be ignorant in public.
Never say too old I’m 73 and still on the road
👏👏.. We just want a little bit more comfort than Vinny is all, we are getting too old for that van but not for travel! Never! 😊
Never too old. I'm 60, and i am looking to do a new conversion.
Great to meet you both today at the car show 😁😁
❤❤.. Hello! So lovely to meet you guys too.. Very cool car😊 xxx Happy travels in the new van xx

Hello! We have a ridge monkey!! Didn’t think of that, used it so much in the past and will be taking it with us in the new van for sure😊
Hey guys you never mentioned Scotland 😮.
You must get here one day.
Hope you're all doing well,😎.ps the lasagne looks fantastic 😎🏴🕊️

My friend ate marmite by the ton. .. was always bitten to pieces
Thanks Robert, yeah we haven’t had Marmite for a while, need to get a good stash of the stuff 😊.. Love it too 😊
You carnt ever stop doing the vlogs you pair keep me sane 😂, and it’s Yorkshire tea for us nice and strong so it bends the spoon when you stir it 😂love the tie dye
😂😂.. We keep you sane !! 😂.. Good to hear, Thanks so much for watching..😁 xxxx
I have a vitamin b12 defficiency and they love me. Eating extra b12, eg marmite, won't help if your body struggles to absorb b12 into the bloodstream. Apparrently the little nasties can detect blood with low b12. That might be why they love you Nick.
My daughter has pernicious anaemia .. isn’t bothered at all by bugs
Very impressed with Sarah´s mechanical prowess - what a girl 😜😜
Just wanted to say hi to y’all and the doggies ❤

I love the tie dyed hoodie and tee shirt! :)

I am with Nick, can’t stand bugs that bite! I bump up like a Klingon too😂😂😂.
Lemon juice with baby oil with aloe
I love vinster, send him to me in new Zealand lol, the mossies don't bite me either. My fave tea is coffee
Excellent news Nick on the health check!🎉

U sooo funny nick I'm the same with the bugs!
It’s rather ironic that sine you’ve had Velton, Vinny has behaved himself! As always loved your vlog.
When fishing in the West of Ireland, you can feel a bit like a Blood Doner! I use Avon's 'skin so soft' to keep the Midges at bay😁

I know!! 😊
You’ve just got ‘lazy’ from 6 months in a house. Fave tea is New York breakfast from T2 delish.
Thanks Ian, yeah we know, once we get back on the road properly it will be great, it always is 😊
If you can get any Avon stuff try "Skin So Soft" midges hate it...and it does work, in your van for keeping flies out put some sprigs of mint.

Saves gas!
Good tip with the pans, yeah microwave is also a good choice in a van 😊
Great little vlog … ands I too must say never say .. ‘too old’
I do get that you may like a few more luxuries .. which you’re new van will provide 🙏🚌🩷
I’ve messaged you some links for bug bites in your jnsta messages!
Have a great week 🌞🦋😎😍
Can’t wait to see you exploring in your big Van. Everyone needs some luxury ❤❤❤❤
Same here, it’s going to be ace 😊
Thanks for another great vlog . I love the hoody and tee-shirt purple 💜 is my fave colour 💜 x lv you all doggies 🐕 definitely included 💜 xx
awwwww, Thankyou☺️☺️xx
We're the opposite. Bugs ignore Mr GST but bite me to pieces! Try Avon So Soft and Smidge!
Will take some with us in the van, Thanks so much for watching..😁
Hi ya great videos. Highlight of my week. To keep midges and mosquitoes out of your van hang dry Lavender next to openings. They don't like the smell. My ex was allergic to migdies. We lived on a boat. It works surprisingly well. The other tip.if you can get some Avon skin so soft. It's the best thing to use.Nick will thank you . Think the army may use it . Keep the great videos coming. You will soon be enjoying all your hard work ❤
Citronella
Cheers 💚
Still no update then😮😢on Velton. Great to see you on a little trip. X
get on with ya! never too old! there are nomads out there in their 80s, so take a deep breath and get on out there 😊
One of the few Van Living Vlogs I regularly watch. Keep up the good "work". 😀👌🇦🇺
awwwww, Thankyou☺️☺️xx
The Expawers are on the move again! I’m so excited about your coming adventures! Velton is going to be awesome! I know you are so proud of all your hard work. You should be! Vanlife…with the Expawers…FUN! FUN! FUN! Thanks for having me along! Jeannine
Yeah!!! Can’t wait to get back out there properly, it’s definitely going to be FUN 😊
Great vlog love your tye dying Sarah they look great will give that a try thank you for sharing , hope you get the paper work soon xxx
Thanks Karen 😊
Peppermint oil is the best bug repellent but there is a blend of essential oil called TerraShield contains Citronella, Lemongrass, Thyme, Cedarwood, Geranium, and Peppermint essential oils in a sesame seed base can use this as a repellent spray, there plenty others with slight different essential oils mixtures but get one that has peppermint ❤️
Thanks for all the tips 😊
To keep the midges at bay, use Avon Skin So Soft bath oil. Just apply it like a lotion to your skin. You will love the smell and the midges will stay away. And contrary to what you might read elsewhere, it will not keep mozzies away. You have to have something else to banish them.
Dry oil body spray !
Lots of folk mentioned Avon, definitely get some when we’re back in the UK 😊
@@theexPAWers I've used it in the Caribbean for years. Definitely works.
That is a good idea for old cloth, I will try this out.
They make a foldable oven you kust set on top of any propane stove. Still love ya'll!
