What could go wrong if your jighead hook has a little too much of the soft plastic lure in it or is off-center a bit?
It should swim just fine right?
    WRONG!!!
Rigging your lures properly is important because if you create an unnatural presentation, it could scare the fish off and they will not strike your lures!
So in this new underwater footage, you’ll see just how unnatural lures look when rigged improperly.
    Check it out!!
Do you know how to rig soft plastics onto jigheads or weighted hooks?

Am I the only one that thought (thinks) that a slightly improperly rigged soft plastic looks like an injured bait fish- therefore MORE appealing to a predator...?

that may be true, but a properly rigged swimbait properly worked by the angler doubles your chances of hooking up a fish.

Great tip. It's such a little thing, to have the soft bait hunched up, but it does make a huge difference. The line twist buildup is hard to see, until wind knots happen. Thanks

We wacky rig thinner swim baits on purpose particularly vertically jigging around pier pilings for flounder. Its definitely a unusual way to fish but the weird erratic falling action triggers sleeping flounder as the commotion triggers their lateral line. In general the big problem for many is just a old swim bait that slides backwards when casting. We all try to get a extra use or two out of costly swim baits maybe even crazy gluing but at some point refusing to replace is costing missed fish.
Other issue is warped shaped swimbaits . Some manufactures do a nice job keeping baits straight with special packing and others just put the product in a plastic bag where is can bend out of shape or it bends out of shape in the anglers hot tackle box .

Hi. What is the best way to use SP in 180-200ft water with tidal current? Heavy jighead will make small SP looks like jumping rock...bigger SP wont see the bottom anytime soon. Should i rig the SPs separated with the sinkers...?

Should i rig the SPs separated with the sinkers...? With Baited rigs, i would use sinkers up to 1kg ( that would be 2.2lb) to stay at the bottom..

so the fish is smart enough to tell the difference between different moves of the lure or size of the "belly", but stupid enought to ignore that big hook sticking out of the back of the lure??? there are only 2 options: the fis is hungry or not. people are trying to create science around fishing. hungry fish doesn't decide if it likes the "moves" of the lure. it's plain biology.

The fact is you cannot predict what is going to make the difference in a successful day of hunting or fishing. But if you can limit the things you have control over I believe it will give you a better chance.

I hear you, and I sway between simplified and over implicated tactics (cos it’s fun for me). The guys at Tacticalbassin have some interesting underwater footage of largemouth picking up jigs in clear water and man they grab the skirt and miss the hook EVERYTIME.

Hate to point it out but that red on the wall has one shitty paint job on it.......looks just like a paint job instead of a redfish! I would put that one in a closet and get another taxidermist do the next one for you...just sayin......
