I've been learning salt water inshore fishing tactics in the carolinas. your site has given me some of the best info from tying knots (which i never had issue with brook trout fishing in the northeast) to baits and techniques. today i tried tony's tip on cutting the tip off the end of the slim shady (purchased thru salt strong!) used the "cut" shady with a trout eye jighead on 10 lb braid and a 15 lb leader strapped up on my toadfish rod and penn 2000 reel. (also tried mr. juice today!) i fish a narrow intercostal tidal creek...from the shore. had an 18" speckled trout "SLAM"" my shady today! boy that trout tasted good for dinner! love the info from tony and the brothers! "tight lines"
Awesome info. I’ve been fishing with plastics for years & have not thought of most of those techniques except for the last. Thank you for your time & info friend.
Good stuff. I'm always asked " dose that really work" " is that even possible" ? When I use some of these techniques. I was told a long time ago by and old school angler " fish are opportunistic feeders".
The best way I have found to keep your soft plastics on is to use gel super-glue on the lure hooks of the jig head. This way you don't have to cut the soft plastic any or worry about smaller fish pulling your lure.
Nice Tony! great tip cutting down and flipping them...its amazing how much new techniques exist with this lure. I have these shadys and can't wait give them for test run. Thanks my man!
Here's a link to a post with videos showing how to rig and retrieve paddletails to get the most strikes based on the type of spot you're fishing: www.saltstrong.com/articles/how-to-use-rig-retrieve-slam-shady-paddletails/
Good idea about cutting the head a little, I find the tapered head does get chewed up and it loses its grip on the jig barbs. Plus like you said the bait it's a little smaller now in springtime. Will be testing out tomorrow, lol
I used a Golddigger to fish a rain swollen river from shore for a couple hours today. I caught one nice Smallmouth in the beginning but realized I had accidentally rigged the bait upside down. I corrected that after releasing the Smallmouth and proceeded to use the bait properly, but caught nothing the remaining hour and a half! I'm wondering, does rigging a paddle tail upside down make it run deeper? Maybe the upside down tail tends to push the lure down? What do you think?
Rigging it upside down also allows for scent to be put in the little slit in the bait, like a pocket. I’d like to think it kinda flows out as I retrieve the lure.
In took this lure in white with the same jig head to Hawaii the last two weeks. I tried other lures off the shore and rocks and nothing worked. I tried the package you sent me to check out and I’ started catching fish. The natives were looking at me like what the hell was going on. It worked! I put a young man in our family on a 4 foot trumpet fish which weighted 7lbs. The lure held up getting caught on rocks and Coral. My next test will be out of the channel Islands in California for a calico bass and yellow tail. Then trying for Land-locked striped bass in Lake Castaic California along with large mouth. I expect these lures will at least the attract them. I did not find them hard to rig.

Another great toutorial TONY ..A note .. Do you realize how much impact that pkg of Slam Shady 2.0 has on your presentation? Nice ..Being a photographer I’m impressed..Can someone get in touch with me.. It’s about my membership?T U
So i noticed the only difference i see is that when upside down it kinda pulls the tail down wich might help to keep it higher in the water column. Watch the side by side and you'll see what i mean
Even though it states on the package to not mix these with PVC plastic baits, you guys should remind us every now and then. I just ruined 2 new bags because I emptied them into my bait box of mixed plastics. The Zmam baits turn to gooey unusable mush.
I ordered on June 8th. It's August 25th and I still don't have them. Left them a phone message, but haven't heard back. I'm sure it's just a fluke, and they will make it up to me. we'll see.
We truly want to help all inshore fishermen catch more fish with less effort, and we know that these paddletails (in addition to the rigging and retrieving lessons we send to all who get them) will do just that.
In the few local shops you can actually find these in they are $6.95 to $7.95 a pack the three $ is slightly less than a shop pays for them I own a shop so I know
Not to be an a$$ but did you guys create a product that you have to alter to make it work after you buy it? Lol don’t get me wrong! I use them but is funny! Why don’t you guys manufacture it that way and save some product in the process? 😜😳

Good luck!

Slam shady has been my new favorite lure for a bit now. Its hard for me not to want to just use it always.
Great tips, for sure! Many thanks!!
Glad we could help!

Recommend a steady retrieve or fish it like a Texas rig with a pause between “bumping” it 2 or 3 times? I just received my free pack THANK YOU!

I used to use mustad hooks on my walleye rigs. Have switched to the gamakastu hooks. Super sharp, no rust. That's my choice of hook now.
Thanks for the feedback!
3/0 size on the twist lock hook?
Does anyone know in Australia mainly Victoria / Melbourne where can you use paddle tail lures can you use them in small lakes. Rivers?
Paddletails are likely effective anywhere there are fish!

Great tips Tony, can’t wait to get out and use my free pack on those picky glass minnow eating Tarpon up in the harbor.
My hooks I bought from salt Strong are all with very long shanks . I wil have to buy shorter shank you used in this video thank you John Martin
Let us know how you do!
What size jig is that one
How about rigging on the side of the body i seen them on bass fishing could it work for those baits.
All great tips thanks!
No problem!
is the salt strong slam shady the same pattern as the z man slam shady?
Yes but zman is wayyyy better
Good afternoon. Thank u it works great.
Rigging it upside down also allows for scent to be put in the little slit in the bait, like a pocket. I’d like to think it kinda flows out as I retrieve the lure.
What size twist lock hook do you recommend for this lure slam shady?
I've seen them usually recommend a 3/0.
Great tips.
What's the time frame for shipping/receiving the free pack?
RealZoo I got mine here in Florida in a couple of days

Make a tony tutorial series. This guy is good
Do u use a weight.?
This was very useful! Thx
I'd like to see more colors of this exact lure on different colors. Any info I can order some? Love the action !!!
Fathom Inshore
Thanks this are great tips😎👍
The nose of the bait seemed to wobble back and forth more when the bait was upside down. Just a slightly different presentation. Good stuff.
Can’t wait to try them out .
Great advice, Thanks !!~~
Slam Shady Strikes Again!!
Need to see if I can get these in the UK?! I'm guessing not!
We only ship within the US at this time but hope to be adding International shipping on at the beginning of 2023.
Great video Tony 👍
Has anyone caught a California halibut on the Slam Shady yet? Might go out this weekend.
Want to try the lures but unfortunately dosen't ship to our place (GUAM). I know the fish would be definitely slamming it. 👍🤙
We hope to offer international shipping in early 2023!
Just the tip?
I would recommend rigging paddle tails sideways. Not upside down, but so it is laying on the side. This increases action a lot.
Thanks for the tip!
@@Saltstrong Thank you for the free soft baits. I had them sent to my brother in US. If they work as good as they look, he will be buying a lot more.
Tried getting some but keep getting an error page when trying to make payment

Yes... just need to have a United States shipping address.
My hocks and gigs are 04 gap just to large
Thanks for the feedback
I just noticed I've been putting my lures upside down. I thought the little fins on the lures were it's fins on its back.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 idk why this is so funny

My man over here circumcising paddletails
Idk why but I read “my mom ran over these circumcising these paddletails”

Never ever mix with other plastic. Keep them in the bag now.
Needy much? Hey btw don’t forget to wipe today, just in case you forget and all
They are a very good bait. It's too bad you can't ship to Canada
magkano yan sir

Not FREE as advertised!!! Not a fan of click bait and gimmicks to gain traffic to company websites. Just lost a subscriber on that one...
