A very useful and well-explained video, thank you. I'm in my 70's and not too keen on crawling under cars anymore so looks like I'll have to entrust this work to a garage. I also don't have VIDA.
Excellent job. Thanks. This should be exactly what I need.
Glad to see you have a newer Volvo too play with. Great video yet again.
Thank you. The best video on the TF-80SC. No one else is mentioning resetting the gearbox counter..
Volvosweden also did a great video, Both extremely helpful
Excelente trabajo ...muy bien explicado . Agradecido
Cheers simon. Just bought a p3 after 9 years of p2
Another great video sirrob, looking at buying a volvo v50 d5 geartronic right now. My jeep wj has bad rust around rear lower arms on chassis so sadly is getting scrapped. Was wondering if these transmissions were any good and how hard to change fluids. I do 99% of my servicing, did transmission fluid change on Jeep GC overland including filter and gasket, new plastic round connector switch too. Jeep was great shifting through the gears after that. Saved pounds on garage prices too. Thanks for this video sirrob. Vinny.
@SiRobb Great video Simon, I'm a relatively new XC90 D5 owner and I'm convinced I have a transmission issue. I have watched most of, if not all, of your D5 videos and I think you may be the only guy that can help me. I would love it if you could help me out as I am fairly local to you.
My 2003 XC90 has the 5 -speed AF33 transmission which has the 24mm hex drain plug. I had to fill it through the dipstick tube and access is a bit better than the fill plug on the TF-80SC. I paid about the same for 5 litres of Comma ATF from Halfords. Euro Car Parts were asking even more for 5 litres of the correct ATF and that was with their discount.
Job well done and well explained. Thank you.
Fab video mate, i had the gear box oil changed by a special automatic box mechanic about a year ago charged me £35, and I supplied the oil did not notice any improvement in fact it was the same as when I put it in with him, went to see him about 3 weeks ago about changing the solenoids in the box he said 8 new solenoids plus new oil £480 all in ,the car is a good but not worth doing at that price ,so after looking on UA-cam was going to have a go on changing the solenoids my self after all been in the motor trade 55 years doing repairs etc 68 now and still loves a challenge . Then came across your video about the oil needing to be flushed 3 times to get most of the crap oil out only done 84 k ,what have i got to lose bought the oil and flushed her out 3 times each time start up and engaging the gears ,it would not go above third but done all the other gears about 5 times in and out ,on the first drain there was exactly just under 3 litres of black oil made sure the measurement was spot on so just put in on the last refill just under 3 litres of new dextro 6 best oil the exact same as the first drain off ,refitted everything back on to the car then out on the first run with in 50 metres the car was in fort gear smooth as silk never been as good haven't done a long trip, but you can just feel the difference not like when the mechanic supposed to have changed the oil starting to think he did not do the job just kept my oil and money , this time you definitely could feel the improvement the mechanic will not be having £480 of me giving her good run on Friday let you know thanks again by the way trying to buy a lexia to be able to reset the gearbox oil counter Peugeot 407 coupe v6 2.7

Very good job video , just fantastic
Thanks for the tip with the mannol fluid. I have flushed my gearbox twice already and on Volvo original fluid from dealer's store. The price was more than 3x the one for mannol so its a lot cheaper
Yes Indeed Pav W...... 32 quid for 10 litres....wow! Cost me damn near 100 quid to drain/flush last year. Cheers!
SiRobb - very good , clear and helpfulvideo.Thanks. Do you have a link for the Dice you sellplease?
17mil hex, exactly same as a wheel nut on one of my wheels. remove wheel nut, nut head goes into the gearbox draim plug and it gives just enough space to also fit a wrench! great
Another very helpful video, don’t think it’s the one I’m after but this is the way I was planning on flushing my xc90s gearbox rather than the oil cooler way. I can’t see a xc90 oil change on your videos but will look out for it
Some XC90 have this gearbox with a similar procedure and some have the AW55-50/51 which is featured in other videos on UA-cam.
The car model isn't really relevant so don't worry too much about that.
Hello Sirobb, great tutorial. could u pls share the link of the manual shown in the video pls? thanks
Super good video, thanks.
THANKS SIROB
Nice job
Great video. Done same few years ago on sd4 Freelander 2 with carlube lv . Just going too drop and fill this time . Did you say 3.2ltr will do it . without checking level thanks
Good and clear video 👍 spoke with JC and he reckons the shift is silky smooth now.
Just like his hair. 😊
SiRobb , hahaha, i will let JC know tomorrow 😂😂😂😂
😊👍🏾
@@sirobb Ohhhhh that stings....... 😂
I would like to confirm the changes are now super smooth, not quite DSG level but for a 12 year old car with 135k and a rudimentary gearbox it's not far behind. It has completely transformed the way the car drives, definitely a must do service job. Would like to thank Simon for his assistance, great guy. Don't forget your VCX tool either, no point in doing half a job.
Hi Simon, I am tempted to do the job after watching your video, whilst doing some homework, a Volvo dealership advised that I have all the fluid pumped out including converter, etc.. This was done using a dialysis type unit. Never heard of this method, so wondered what your thoughts would be on this process many thanks G.
Merci, bonne vidéo !
Excellent video Simon, as usual.
Can I ask if having the engine running on the final oil level drain was the instruction within Vida ?
Cheers
Dave aka '37Ruby' on the VOC forum
if you don't leave the engine running you'll dump way more fluid than necessary...
Hi Dave. Yes that's the Vida method and it applies to others too but you can always check your exact car procedure in Vida for confirmation.
Correct in my opinion: Engine running and in "drive" the correct level is when the fluid is being circulated.
With the engine stopped; The fluid will raise the level, as it drains back.
So using the dipstick or the "Level Plug" will remove the essential fluid....it will be short on re-start.
Hello si , quick question I don’t know if I missed it but did you use the same gearbox oil in the box once you have completed the full flush and fills ? Cheers
very good video
very educative. thank you. regards
Great video, thanks
Thanks Simon for another great video! With these boxes being "sealed for life" and the car in your video already being at 135k, (it should have had maybe 3 changes already at that mileage, no one knows) but was still functioning acceptably. What would be a reasonable interval to do changes at? and have you ever changed the ATF and then experienced wet clutch slippage due to the "less grippy" new fluid?
I'd change it routinely every 40-50k miles if the car has normal use.
I've never encountered problems using new fluid. Some do less dramatic changes so just one drain and fill every couple of years or so.
Great video my friend. I go to do this job in mi citroen c5 with the same transmission. I also get the mannol 8218 its avaible in my country. Greetings from Argentina
How similar or different is the fluid drain/fill process for the Aisin TG-81SC 8-speed transmission found on P3 Volvos? I can't find a tutorial or walk-through specifically for this application. I have a later P3 with 4-cylinder Drive-E engine.
How I can check the level of oil in the transmission, I have a Susuki vitara , the new model year 2018, with an aisin at6 gearbox, checking bin the web this is the transmission mounted in the model ? Because its sealed and don't have a dipstick like others transmissions..... thanks for the video
Great clear video, thanks, I have a 2006 v70 d5 auto and I'm doing mine at the weekend, I've just got the exact same oil off Ebay, would those seals be the same for my box?, also I dont have Vida and dont know anyone with it, is it ok to change oil without vida
You can do it without VIDA, but it's important that you add exactly the same amount of fluid that you drained out per flush.
@SiRobb are you still selling the dice kit with software at all? Recently bought a v70 and need a good diagnostic for it
Great video, most informal ive come across. My father has a saab with same transmission im told so doing some research.
What would this normally cost to get carried out at a garage or specialist? Thanks.
Probably anywhere from £150-300 depending on the garage, the amount of fluid changed and the method used.
@@sirobb thanks very much.
Great video. I've got issues with the 81C variant in my ford S-Max and will do the same fluid flushes.
Can I ask if you need to warm the fluid before the first drain and the best way to do so?
I always try to have the fluid as warm as I can so I plan the drain for after taking the car for a run out.

Hi there, just wondering is this transmission has the filter to replace?
Have to say: SiRobb.... You have far more patience than I!
I have just waded through 98% of the comments below.....Dear-oh-dear. Your Sainthood is in the post!
Hi I've recently just done the same on a 2018 x1 bmw can I reset the the fluid change through autel maxi to let the ecu know I've changed the fluid to stop. The harsh ger changes😎
Very helpful video as always, thank you.
Also on the newer XC90's eg 2012 model they have the ECU on top of the airbox, do you know if you can get away with leaving that connected or should that be disconnected when removing the airbox?
One comment on the editing, really not keen on the 'blinky' transitions between the video cuts at the start of the video, it confuses my brain into thinking I've blinked and makes the video difficult to watch.
I don't know the exact way to access all of the variants that this gearbox is fitted to but Vida will confirm the steps.
You need Vida regardless to do the job properly so always worth having.
Point taken on the transitions. Short clips exaggerate the blinking effect so I'll look at future videos.
@@sirobb Thank you!
Perhaps next you could make a video on how to change the bevel box oil in an XC90?
I don't have an XC90 needing it but the UA-cam channel volvosweden has some AWD maintenence videos.
Done on a P3 but you get the general idea.
@@sirobb Thanks, I had already watched his videos but the drain/fill bolt isn't in the same location on my friend's 2012 XC90 that I work on.
I see. Get Vida..... I can't recommend it highly enough for anyone doing their own work. Even for my 2002 S60, I wouldn't be without it.
Good video for anybody wanting to get some fresh oil in the box.
In Vida, I seem to remember on mine that the oil counter was something to do with counting how many times the box oil went over temperature and would flag up a transmission service light if it reached its threshold? To make my cars gearbox shifts reset it is possible to clear the gearbox memory but not do the full relearn process. This resets the box to what I presume are standard settings and the box learns from that point on.
Be interested to learn if simply reseting the oil counter also resets the gearbox in other ways?
The adaption reset function you allude to is mentioned in the video as a kind of "there but not essential" function.
It depends on how bad your changes have become.
I've read anecdotal accounts of fluid being changed without the counter reset and the full benefits of new fluid not being felt until at least that procedure was done.
This suggests that the reset is more than just a counter going to zero.
I have no intentions of going through a fluid change process and not resetting the counter to test though. 😊
@@sirobb When I first changed my gearbox oil I didn't have Vida so I didn't reset the oil counter on mine! The gearbox adapted slowly and within a week was much better behaved.
I used Mannol oil as well and three years later I think it needs changing again. The oils viscosity is the key issue I believe as if it thins out to much under heating the gearbox wont adapt quickly enough and hard shifts and flares are more common on mine now when hot. Yet another 'I'll do that soon' job!
Just to add, yes there is the adaptations process but you can simply clear the memory without going through the adaptions process, from my awful memory there was an odd button in Vida with something like TS200 on it which has no relevance to anything I could see, pressing tgat virtual button allowed me to clear the memory without going through the adaptions process. Maybe that button is the oil counter reset?
Yes those jobs do mount up quickly. 😊
I hope you get time soon.
No need to rely on your memory.
The various TCM Advanced functions are shown in the video.
3 questions Si...1 - Can you run the car on axle stands while circulating the new fluid or does it need to be on the floor? 2 - Is there a specific torque value for the main drain plug before the final fill? 3 - If I don't have access to DICE/VIDA to reset the counter is it worth doing this procedure?
1. You could have it on axle stands but there is minimal benefit versus the risk doing this.
Holding the various gear positions with the front wheels braked is the procedure and there's no need to stray from that.
The car needs to be level whether on or off the ground.
2. I can't remember the torque of hand but around 25-30Nm like the oil sump won't get you in trouble.
From experience on many cars, fit a brand new seal every time and use common sense when tightening drain bolts.
3. The TCM counts every occasion where the fluid temperature goes above a certain threshold.
Once it's gone over that threshold X number of times, a Transmission Service Required message will appear and you may get reduced performance.
Resetting the oil counter tells the transmission module that new fluid has been put in and means you won't risk getting service messages for old fluid and performance issues when you've actually got good fluid.
What is the filling temperature, is it any filter? Thx
I ordered a seal kit and it came with two of the tiny o rings. Is that just a spare or do I need to look out for a place to put the second one ?
good blog si gary from crewe
Hi great videos i just wanted to know what goes wrong if you don't have the scan tool to reset the transmission because i dont have one and i don't know anyone who does my gears run smoothly at least l think they do .
Not resetting using software may be ok but it depends on the individual use of the car/gearbox.
The reset tells the TCM that fresh fluid is in the system and depending on each use case, that is an essential syep or just optional.
@@sirobb thanks Simon I've dropped the oil once up to now a few weeks back and all seems fine and I'm going to do it 2 more times soon and hopefully I might find some one with the right scanner if I do I will tell you if it feels better shifting
Thanks for making this video. Loads of mechanics claiming there's no reason to change the gearbox oil on these. Kindly share the details and links for the o-rings and seal on eBay.
Yes, Samuel.... Scotty Kilmer is another..... Used to like the bloke and he was quite entertaining but lof late he seems to be obsessed with calling people "STUPID!" And Shouting "DON'T!!!" on all things & everything under the sun.
One week he was extolling the virtues of Volvo cars ....build quality...etc... the next week ...."Volvos are STUPID!
(Battery in the back of the car....." Loses power over distance" (Rubbish) Alternator difficult to remove: So are many other marques & models.....) Losing all credibility with me, I'm afraid.
As regards the seals & O rings..... Don't go Volvo...... Extremely expensive and no different from other suppliers.
An aluminium washer...is exactly that. An "O" ring is made of top quality material by every manufacturer.
(There was a case 20 years ago that some O rings were not compatible with R134a refrigerants in AC systems.... but I'm pretty sure that issue has been long resolved.) Don't pay crazy money for stock items like that.
Stay Good. Cheers.
They're claiming there's no reason to change the oil but can't technically explain to you why. The best BS I heard was that the fluid is "lifetime." Any oil degrades over time.
@@patagualianmostly7437 I serviced mine before selling it, with 500miles intervals between drains. The gearbox went from shifting like a 1950s truck to smooth and quiet shifts. I got the seals and o-ring from Scandix.

Hi Simon would this be the same procedure for a volvo xc70 2009 and i can do it but need the vida software and where do i get this from ?

If you have the same gearbox, the procedure will be similar but Vida will confirm.

For those just finding this video which is excellent btw.
After 2011 you need JWS 3324 NOT 3309!
Be sure you get the right oil!
For info AW1 is 3324 equivalent.

Good Video,
thinkin about doin the same. I've got a XC 60 2013, 2,4l diesel D4. It says in the manual AW 1 Oil. U usin the AW TWS 3309, thats a diffrent code. What exact car Model was yours?? Thanx anyway
AW1 es EURO 5. Y 3309 es EURO 4. Si en el tapón dice AW1 hay que utilizar ese.
My oil is quite new as i had volvo change it 15,000 miles ago, (£250 by the way)but now i see how easy it is to change id like to have a go myself. would i still need to use vida which i dont have, if i only do 1 drop and refill just to keep it fresh ?
Personally, I wouldn't go to the effort of replacing such a small amount infrequently and I wouldn't entertain the job without Vida which is also required for the fluid temp reading to accurately set the level.
Assuming the dealer did a thorough job, 15k mile fluid is going to be in good condition so I'd save your money and put it towards a Vida set up.
THank you for your video. One question: the very first time when you take out the level plug there are some fluid pouring out (it means that fluid level is above the height of level tube). But after the final drain you pour in new fluid to the level of level tube only. Why so?
The engine is *off* when I remove the level plug to drain the fluid at the beginning.
More fluid is settled in the sump so some fluid will leak out.
The engine is *running* when I remove the level plug to set the level of the fluid at the end.
The fluid is being pumped through the gearbox so doesn't settle and leak out.

Si i have a 2006 V70 D5 Auto that has never has the ATF changed from the last owner as Volvo said it does not need changing cos they talk about things they don't know as most sales men do. If it has a fluid it needs a change don't matter if it says life time its just a gimick. And the car is now on 162k the ATF has gone black I've read that if is goes black or smells burnt don't change it and others say do change it so i'm a bit stuck on what to do? Any advice would be a grate help Also what is the gearbox counter does that tell you in the in the HUD when the gearbox fluid needs changing?
You may end up with a Transmission Service Required or similar message but I wouldn't wait for that.
Change the fluid with repeated drain and fills but you will need Vida software to read the fluid temperature to set the level correctly.

This Transmission is also used in the new Generation of BMW X1 and other models.
We have such an BMW X1 and I want to Change the Fluid and Filter.
I saw no Filter Cap, but at the front side (left) was an Cap with an snap ring. I think underneath this cap is an extra Filter.
Have you changed this one too or only the fluid?
In the original BMW Manuals are no work orders for an Service like this and no aftermarket Filter part number.
Only Transmission Fluid level check...
Maybe you know something more from the Volvos?!
Sorry for my "not so good english" 😁😆
The filter is not changeable without opening the gearbox.
You could insert an in line filter on one of the fluid cooler hoses.
@@sirobb Okay, thank you for this information 😊👍
Thanks for the video. How do you rate the reliability of the older Volvo autoboxes?
I have a 2004 V70 D5 with nearly 310.000 miles on it, and the autobox still works reasonably well given the mileage and age... but the 2 to 3 shift is not always smooth, and sometimes the 3 to 4 shift has a noticeable delay. If I happen to press the accelerator right at the moment it has decided to shift back from 3 to 2 it might shift with a very unpleasant bang. Very rarely reverse engages harshly.
I changed the fluid around the 210.000 mile mark, a few months after I bought it. I drained the fluid and put about 3.5 liters back in, drove about 600 miles, and repeated that twice for a total of three drains.
What probably helps longevity is that this car is only used for daily commutes to work which is about 60 miles of highway driving, and I don't abuse it.
catch it early and itll last
Jeroen74 thanks for your reply that’s reassuring that it’s still going reasonably well at over 300k. I have an s60 and I love it but there’s very little legroom in the back for my 3 growing kids. I have been looking at xc90s for the extra space which seem to mostly have the geartronic box hence my query.
@@Jeroen74 I have a 2005 d5 xc90 which had similar symptoms. 230k miles. I had a gearbox software update perform at Volvo for £60. And it’s resolved the harsh gear changes and runs smoother.
This also applies to the Mazda CX-9. I changed mine at 75K miles and it looked like dirty motor oil and the transmission was shifting badly. I ran thru 12qts of Mobile One 3309 fluid and it shifts like new now.
Did yours ever clunk when selecting either Drive or reverse? Did the flush help?
Yes and yes. 👍

After performing the 'Gibbons method' on my P2 D5 a couple of times im more than happy to do this drain and fill method on my new P3.
Would you be kind enough to clarify a point of confusion for me please. I am a little unsure as to whether the TF80SC takes JWS 3309 fluid. I realise you are using it happily in this demonstration, however I have heard that it takes AW1 or something ive never heard of BOT 341 (says in owners manual). Any advice appreciated. Thanks for your time and trouble Simon.
There's definitely a revision to the recommended fluid around 2011 model year so I would check with the main dealer or a good aftermarket supplier like opieoils.
I've never needed to source the newer fluid and didn't need to check for the car in this video as it's way before the changeover.
@@sirobb Thank you for the reply, very much appreciated. I will look into it. Its a shame as I have a 20l drum of JWS 3309!
@@sirobb and yes I think there was something like a gen 2 TF80SC which takes a JWS 3 something something something. I always pick an awkward year on my cars!
Given that the gearbox is so similar, there's a part of me that wonders just how different any new fluid spec might be but I can't hand on heart say to use something if it's not listed in the handbook.
A Euro 3 D5 for example is probably 95% the same physically as a Euro 4 D5 but they do use different oil specs.
Check every listed spec conformity number on your JWS3309 barrel though as you may find a number which still matches the new requirements for the >2011 gearbox.

Hi SiRobb, Excuse my ignorance but you keep refering to VIDA in the comments? Could you explain what that is? Cheers John
Have you watched the video?
Is there not a final fill? Thought there was a mm amount to add at then dependant on temperature, I’m sure at 60 degrees you add 1 litre
Maybe you're thinking of a different gearbox. The procedure is correct in this video for this particular model.
It's possible to do it correctly without vida dice? Perhaps gearbox will be reset after battery unplug for a half hour?
A battery disconnect won't do anything. Other tools are available, they just have to be able to communicate with the Transmission Control Module so check the specs with the seller.
How about this mannol oil? Maybe have some expierence with that? Because im thinking of buying liqui moly top tec 1200 but its twice more expensive and thinking if its worth it.
I have heard from many people who have used the Mannol fluid with great results long term.
@@sirobb это масло заливали а коробку?
Have you ever used a product like Seafoam Trans Tune to clean out the gearbox, could this be risky? Cheers
I haven't I'm afraid. My preference is always to refresh the fluid and allow the natural cleaning properties to do their job.
Standard maintenance is often enough.
Hey are you have a link about gearbox oil thanks ?
I bought this one. Worth double checking to make sure it's the right oil for your gearbox. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10L-MANNOL-ATF-Multivehicle-Automatic-Transmission-Fluid-JWS-3309-FORD-Mercon-V/303081766587?epid=15042862015&hash=item469114bebb:g:OGIAAOSwdUtdDIS9
Nice video! If the title mentions Volvo, it might attract more viewers cause not everyone will know the transmission’s model that well...like me
Unfortunately if I mention every manufacturer this gearbox is relevant to, the title would be ridiculously long.
My TF-80SC is hitting 110'C when on highway, and it has that humm/whine in 4th, 5th and 6th. Oil change or not enough oil? Thanks
How many miles has the transmission fluid done?
@@sirobb 50k km, approx 30k miles... it's on AR159 2.4JTDm.
It says Tutella GI/VI oil, but I presume it can be filled with 3309 too...
Has to be worth taking a sample of the fluid from the level plug.
If it's brown and smells burnt definitely change it.
It's also worth checking with your main dealer if there are any software updates outstanding. Perhaps even do that first.
Simon
Thank you, it makes sense i.e. the level that the box runs at not stationary.
Cheers
Dave
I've a tf81sc ford galaxy 2009 ,I've been given a new filter to fit but it doesn't look like it has a filter ?? It's a black cartridge filter in a new plastic housing like an external filter ??
I don't know.
Have you asked whoever gave you the filter?
@@sirobb did you open up box and clean screen filter ?
No and I don't know of anyone who has.
Everything that was done is in this video.
This is the Powershift gearbox not the geartronic! powershifts are on Galaxy, Kuga and late volvo's! There is a filter on the Powershift to change but not on the AISEN.
There seemed to be a lot of fluid draining out when you first removed the level plug. Is this normal since at the correct level no fluid would be draining out?
There's more fluid compared to the final level draining because the engine is off.
@@sirobb Thanks. Thinking about it after I’d posted I realised that must be the case! Doh!
@@simonjohnston1053 No problem. It can seem a little counter intuitive at first.
Ciao. Che software hai usato per il reset del contatore del cambio?
Volvo Vida
How to check the ATF level?
Should the transmission filter get replaced as well and when?
Filter replacement requires splitting the gearbox so is expensive and time consuming.
@@sirobb yes, but should you change it.. I mean should be changed at some mileage, is it needed?
I'm not aware any change schedule but check with a Volvo main dealer for the official advice.
@@sirobb Okay, thanks :)
Hello, i have one qustion, i did a lot of reserch and find out that jws 3309
Fluids are very difrrent in specs. My concklusion was that the most important thing is that fluid is not too high when cold and not too low when hot, among other things such as vi..... And i find that in the specs is best of all(inclouding volvo oem) is MPM hfm fluid, from holland i think, so, have you any experience with that oil, or have you heard something about it. I will say that mannol is very good, i used it for flusch, beter than many expencive oils. Thank You for answering
Does this model have a filter?
If it does, it isn't serviceable with routine maintenance.
Does this gearbox have a filter at all?
Have a filter inside. Replace when you rebuilid a gearbox .
Can you also put a link up for the seals and washers? Many thanks
For anyone wanting to source their own parts and swerve dealer pricing the list is as follows:
30713220 Alum. Crush washer:
27.5mm OD/ 20mm ID/ 1.8mm thick
1233068 Drain plug O-Ring:
6.07 ID/ 1.78mm dia.
30735186 Fill plug O-Ring:
15.2mm ID/ 2.2mm dia.
Spec. wise, Nitrile O rings are the most common but Viton has a broader temperature and chemical resistance range.
Cheers
Chuck.
@@chuckmustard7865 Good info. The "Official Volvo" parts on these consumables are ludicrous.
(Yes, I know, packaging, stocking & stock control all cost money.... )
If it's the same size, the same material....It will do the job. I guarantee it!
Yes, there was an issue with some O-rings not being compatible with PAG Oil & R134a a decade or more ago.
Surely that has been resolved. (We are not talking space shuttle disasters here.....Keep it real.)
Why has so much oil come out from the fill level plug? surely its only meant to drain whats over the level?
If you mean at the start, the engine is off so the level sits differently compared to when the level is set which is done with the engine running.
@@sirobb I wonder what the oil level is at the end of the change?
Is it ok top top up via breather?
No point
Hello everyone! I recentlly took my 2008 s80 D5 in service for a gearbox oil flush/change,what the mechanics have used is Liqui Moly top tec ATF 1200 , they have flush the gearbox with 13L of oil and put inside 7L.Now after a week of driving the car everyday on a highway mainly 90 km/day i have noticed that when i stop at lights in the city my car has a delay of 1-1.5 to start to move after i release the brake,if for instance i press the gas before that i feel and hear a noise coming from the gearbox, there is no leaks or something like that and the car change gears quite smooth taking in consideration it has 474.000 km.I also have 2 bad injectors that put to much gas,,and make the engine shake at idle.Right now im waiting for the new injectors to arrive but can it be a corelation between the bad injectors and the gearbox not engaging right before i release the brake?I’ve noticed that it does not do it always but sometimes it does.Any ideas or advices what could it be or what i can do?I really like the car a lot and spent a decent amount of money on parts since i got it 2 months ago and don’t wanna let her go..
As I show in this video, it is important to set the fluid level at the correct temperature and reset the fluid counter in the transmission control module.
Did they *definitely* do this?
I have to add that the service was not done at authorized volvo service and the counter was not reset or so..I am thinking maybe take the car again to an authorized volvo service and do it all again?
@@sirobb They haven’t done that i am afraid.
Check with them to be certain.
If they have Dice and Vida software like in this video, it will only take 10 minutes to set the level correctly and reset the counter.
@@sirobb I don’t think they have vida and dice ,,so i must take the car to volvo to do it i’m afraid ,hope it will not get expensive..Can you please tell me if the oil used inside my gearbox suits this transmission?
