Don't forget parents are not always able to. Some parents also suffer mental health issues, they may work long hours, they are old , exhausted. Parents cannot be everywhere constantly watching for signs. Having kids doesn't mean you have to be forever on guard duty once they are grown.

@@colinluckens9591 Obviously can't speak for the OP but for me and friends some of it comes with growing, depression in late teens/early twenties happens but many times it resolves itself as you learn more about life and yourself and how you fit into the world and secondly just changing my thinking, sometimes focusing on certain things will make you depressed, you have to resolve to be happy, that doesn't mean my thinking made everything suddenly wonderful but what it did do was helped me to not be so fatalistic about everything or see everything as personal. I later learnt that my depression actually stemmed from an undiagnosed physical illness so I still go through bouts but they're not as severe as they were because of the things I learnt to do when I was younger, they still help now.

@@colinluckens9591 make goals, both long term ones and short term ones. Big ones and also small ones. What would you like to learn? Improve about yourself? Explore? Do? Etc.
Then break those goals down into actionable steps. Break them down into the tiniest little steps possible so that every single day you’re moving a little closer to several goals.
Make sure your goals are totally achievable. And there is no such thing as a “dumb” goal! It can be something as easy as “be on time to work every day” if you’re struggling because of depression to get out the door on time. Or even “be on time to work 4 out of 5 days” whatever goal is reachable for you.
Push yourself just hard enough to avoid failure but not so little that there is no striving being done.
THAT is how you get out of deep, dark, self-deletion type depression.
It is also how you find yourself successful. Those tiny little goals being reached every single day are like a tiny pebble being dropped at the top of a snowy mountain
Once they get rolling they accumulate a lot of force and mass! Before you know it you can’t believe how far you’ve come! And it doesn’t even feel like you’ve been killing yourself or like you’ve done anything so impossible
      It’s really all it takes.
I went from being a homeless runaway eating often fewer than three meals a week, to owning a beautiful home with my own horses and a pond to kayak in and a business that I love to wake up and work in every day.
I went from an abusive and horrible home to breaking the cycle and having wonderful children to love and help.
I’ve tried a lot of things over the years to fix those awful feelings of being stuck and things seeming impossible!
Break it down. And celebrate every single accomplishment, no matter how small.
That gets the positive neurotransmitters flowing in your brain and it helps hard wire good neural pathways that weren’t there before.
Also you have to talk yourself out of negative thoughts. Think of those negative thoughts as that bad angel and then as yourself what would the good angel say in response? Then stick with that guy.
If you’re struggling to get off your feet as a young person take heart!! You absolutely can do it! You have no idea how much you can achieve! You’ve got to start making goals. Write them down. Make lists. And physically check them off. And celebrate!
I’ll be praying for you ❤️🥹🙌🏻

I just watched his video of the "three" coin flip. It seems the deciding one was landed upright in grass and he picks it up and then the camera can see it when he had it in his hand saying "tails". He was only going to show the coin flip that allowed him to be like klebold and Harris so he could "go out in a hardcore way". I've listened to the videos that were recorded before the event that Randy made.
Most, if not all of them are present on UA-cam.
Apparently Randy never opened up much in regards to depressive symptoms to his Mom and practically did not talk to his Dad because he overall despised him. It's possible that at the least his Mom could of been if they'd of opened up more about the mental struggles. Obviously it does seem to be that his parents weren't the kind that were regularly checking in.
It happens and unfortunately it did here.
Opening up is a great way to move forward onto a better life.
Having people that listen to you and accept your situation are vital for recovery and peace.
I agree too that parents should be keeping an eye on the well-being of their child/children.

If you listen to Randy's recordings about these two friends he lost, at least one of them was not his friend at all. It was just a guy who went to the same school as him and died in a car accident, they weren't even in the same grade according to Randy.
He said that this person's death sparked his fascination with death and dark subjects like that, but if you listen to all his recordings, it comes off as a massive excuse/copout. After watching almost all of Randy's videos, I would say it held no weight on anything he was going to do or what he would become.
He primarily said this kid's death, him totalling his own car, his brother totalling his car, their basement getting flooded, and other trivial crap like that led to him becoming a delusional killer. He mentioned his grandfather died, but he never brought that up as a "trigger" that led him to darker thoughts.
His parents should have been on his ass, never allowed him to buy weapons, and made him get a full time job and/or kick him out of the house. Also probably should have brought him to a mental health doctor or counselor for his depression.
A total shame and waste of life, committed by a spoiled kid who was a total waste of life.
EDIT: Just want to say, may the three victims rest in peace. They did not deserve such a cruel fate.

My take on this situation: Randy's main problem was that he focused on things that he couldn't control instead of things that he could. His placing of locus of control on external forces and people, which he has zero control over, disappointed him over and over again and made him feel like a victim; which ironically he created a situation for himself where he'd be victimized over and over again. He thus retreats into a fantasy land he creates for himself, where he is everything he desires to be, and convinces himself that his fantasy is the reality so as to seal himself away from the last bits of being grounded in reality.
Eventually, regarding his desire to kill: since he focused so much on things and people that are beyond his control and never gets his way, his desire to control others gets even more intense, and he eventually resorts to committing something heinous, taking the lives of the innocent and doing it in a public setting, in order to control others (that are beyond his control). Regarding why he chose to take innocent lives (his family or the supermarket victims), he felt that he was an innocent person who has been unfairly victimized despite himself not doing anything to deserve it, so he wants to pass on that misfortune onto others.

It is problematic when the locus of control is exterior because you need to actually go and fight for control. It isn't that you are deciding to give control to something exterior... it is that something else controls you. It is very difficult to center yourself once that happens. For some reason, I always get the impression that Randy desperately wanted someone to notice what was going on with him and save him from himself.
And, if no one could or would do that, there was no point in him continuing to live.
He repeatedly pointed out that all of the signs indicating that there was something extremely wrong with him were completely overlooked by everyone around him. Parents, teachers, friends...
He was, almost literally, a walking red flag factory. And, if no one was going to stop him from destroying himself, then he was going to make sure that others were made to suffer just as much as he had.
The whole situation was just so tragically sad.

So I grabbed the back of her neck like a puppy to get her off of me. Wrote me a letter sent it through the mail from the sheriffs office saying I was mentally ill and on drugs my daughter then went to live my sister. Because my sitin law hired a high power attorney. My daughter now gets to stay with my sister as long as she follows up with her eye care well she needs to be on drops a year ago and the Specialist is really worried about her going blind. My daughter now blocked me because I keep pushing them to go . Neither of them think it’s important and now they are saying I’m harassing her. I have no idea what to do, I cannot afford an attorney and I miss her so much it’s killing me. . A lot of us did. Hell, at one point, I thought about taking out some bullies that made the prior five years hell when I was growing up. it was endless with their abuse on and off school grounds. This was long before the internet. But, after about 5 minutes of serious thought, I shook it off and said "no way" since I knew that even I did what I set out to do, the bullies would be gone. But, my life would be ruined, along with the lives of my family members. I wasn't going to put them through that and I really didn't want to destroy my life before i had a chance to get going. I had no intentions of killing myself, either. The bullies didn't need to think they had won.
I chose to focus on music as a reason to stick around and stuck to that. One of the best things I could've done. Seems like this dude needed to get into creative pursuits more at the very least. Perhaps some meds. But, you never know how any medication is going to react.

@@thecoolmanstation I don't think they're related at all. They met on xbox live years before the shooting and became friends. Damian could tell Randy really wanted friends to play with. Over the next few years they did grow closer, but then Damian moved. They became disconnected at this time because I assume Damian was going along with his life, getting older, making less content. He knew Randy said that he had the ghost of a girl from another universe in his body, but Damian thought he was just kidding. Eventually Damian was sent a long suicide note from him. That was all in June 2017. Damian wasn't uploading his regular content since April, and even before that, his uploading was dodgy. Either way, he explains in the last video that he just feels like he peaked a long time ago, he's gotten older, his interests have changed, and frankly he probably wasn't able to afford to keep producing content like this from a financial standpoint, as this was near the time of UA-cam's ad-pocolypse and mass censorship, they even UNVERIFIED the makemebad35 account for absolutely no reason, which is also not good for revenue when you've been such an important creator for so long. I know this whole ordeal shook him up quite a bit, but not enough for him to not talk about it publicly on Twitter, so... If that was one of the reasons, it definitely would've been referred to, or at least hinted at in his final video. I just wish the dude would come back.

Personally, I would rather be alone. I do not care for small talk. When others acknowledge me it makes me uncomfortable. Sometimes uncomfortable enough for extreme anxiety. There is only a handful of people that I feel comfortable around. This includes my spouse and children. I have been in a relationship for 23 years but never married and stay in separated rooms. Even at home, I feel most Comfortable by myself but I can sit in the same room as someone else. However small talk is pretty much nonexistent.
This all stems from childhood trauma. Being made to stay quiet and unseen. Being put in closets for long periods so that I am not seen nor heard. Being poorly fed. Many times with spoiled foods or drinks. Which has affected me medically in my older years. I have Crohns disease.
I find it interesting on how behavior of others and environment can dictate an individuals personal life. How a human is so adaptable to withhold the pain and anguish. How when having free will they still feel more comfortable in the environments that caused the abuse. Yet, does not continue the abuse cycle. Maybe only personal abuse upon themselves with feeling most comfortable in said environments?

He had individual twitter and FaceBook accounts for himself and Rachael and Mackenzie and he would talk with them as tho they were individuals, but they were really himself having conversations with himself as Rachael and himself as Mackenzie. One of his biggest issues was his perceived lack of affection from his father as he became an adult. • @AntoDesormeaux
      @AntoDesormeaux 3 роки тому +11

his family is the reason why he turned out this way, he learned how to behave from them. His entire personality structure was messed up, that comes from family. I'm sure they did teach him a sort of value system though... Mostly narcissistic values I bet, like ranking people in hierarchies, needing to see oneself as superior to feel worthy of existing, seeing people as inferior and unworthy of existing, craving attention and admiration, and the importance of external image. In his case also that interaction with other people is threatening.
I'm talking moms or dads that "bond" with their kids secretly trash-talking strangers with their kids, comparing which model is prettiest, talking well only of rich, prestigious people, comparing their kids to such people, fishing for admiration and compliments from them, and always reminding them that they're not as good as they were at their age... They're told that they're better than the other kids but at the same time they're stomped on, criticized, and are only rarely offered conditional affection, always to feed the parents' ego. Their kid learns to expect that from people in general, like that's how they'll look at them. That's how the kid learns to think about others too, after all. They have to believe that they're superior and worthy of existing, it's non-negotiable, so when that doesn't match reality, it's reality that has to adjust itself. That's why they don't have both feet planted firmly on reality. On the other hand, believing in themselves so much often helps them become rich and/or powerful and that's why we can't have nice things.

It's always mommy's fault. Or daddy's fault. At what age do we take responsibility for our own actions and thoughts? 30? 50? 89? Not everyone who is messed up got that way due to bad parenting. After a certain age, your peer group has much more influence on you, than your parents do. You screw up as an adult, it might be all on you. Of course, terrible parenting can definitely ruin a child, and carry over to adulthood. Just not 100% of the time.
