as i like to say and share with folks in other similar vids / groups, i absolutely love seeing this ! and like the game of chess; which is called the great equalizer. no matter who you are, what language you speak, what color you are, what economic background you come from, chess is chess and anyone can play against anyone. same goes for skateboarding, BMX, rollerblading, they are also great equalizers, it is universal, no matter if you from Canada, Kenya, Australia, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Russia, japan, that all love to skate and are doing the same things, as well as creating new tricks. enjoying it, having the same passion and love, no matter who they are or where they are. skating and skate-parks are universal.
This is just what skateboarding should be like, Friends hanging out and having a good time. If only things we're still like this, Good thing we have people like these.
Amazing to see skate dudes keeping it alive even in such no-go situations, especially the girl, only girl around there skating and staying motivated, bless you honey, you really made an example outta evryone. One love.
mentality. constructive attitude towards issues, of all kind. openness, intelligence. the overall psychology of the swedes/nordic people is different than that of the rest of the europe, at least.
***** Like not legalizing weed because swedish politicans and scientist relies on old scientific propaganda. Really a country that is ruled by the goverment.
there should be a whole skate scene on texas. no one skates here and everyone sees skaters as targets for voilence and discrimination, if california is skate heaven then texas is skate hell. ive experienced more hate for riding a piece of wood than ive ever experienced in my life.
this is insane!!! swedish skateboarders are soo underrated. amazing style, good trick selection, skates fast, how much more can you rip??! TWO THUMBS UP :)
A great video that really captures the DIY aspect of swedish skating. I skated with some of these guys when they were up here in Skellefteå and they still rip hard.
Wow it's so good to see a DIY scene alive and well. I know of one homemade skate park in my town built around an abandoned building. the council came and put a bigger fence up once they found out
As a Swede, it find it chilling to read this comment. It used to be a great place. Nowadays it's simply a gangster's paradise with daily gang shootings in most of the bigger cities.
Scandinavia is "officially": Denmark, Norway and Sweden. From a cultural aspect it consists of: Denmark, the Faroese Isles, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
21:22, I'm in the background of that clip, it's from about 7 years ago, the park is gone now but it was basically the place i learned to skate, damn i miss that place.
Nice one Vice, i love to live hear! Did not get the feeling for skating but BMX and dirt/downhill is my thing and im glad i can go allmost ever were and ride with out think about getting chased away!
I love pieces like this because it reinstates my belief in humanity, It proves that the ills that many thrust upon people that aren't like them are both conquerable and insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Kudos Sweden! Way to put your energy in achieving a common good as opposed to dwelling on the pitfalls that sometimes just occur in life.I'm tired of people fixating on the bad when the good is bitch slapping them in the face!
I'd like to think there's a Skate Scene everywhere. I lived in the Philippines and started skating there, Moved to Singapore and there was a massive skate scene there, Moved to ABU DHABI and DUBAI and there were tons of skaters there, went to Lebanon to snowboard and instead skated an old museum with a 100 kids, Afghanistan has a skate scene as well. You know what's funny I went to the famous cities where skating is supposedly big and all i saw was kids with supreme caps posing with a baker deck
Yeah, i think we started in third grade, but i was in third grade in like 96 so it might be earlier nowadays:) But we also do not dub TV shows etc, so we tend to learn english from watching series and movies aswell. We only use subtitles.
We learn english in school from when we're eight years old. Also all of the famous tv-series and movies from USA and Britain are very popular here, as well with music. Plus we never dub movies like they do in e.g. France, Spain and Germany. I think that's why most Swedes can speak english really well even though many people are bad at pronouncing words with an american or birtish accent :)
In the english speaking countries they dont really use the term "the Nordic countries", so the word scandinavia means Sweden, Norway, denmark and finland for them, but in sweden the word "skandinavien" only means sweden, norway and Denmark
What a fine idea. There are always skaters around this area and it takes skills, which many people miss. If any average person put their feet on one. they would fall on their ass. Its takes time to learn like anything else. They should do this in England
wearing a helmet while finger skating. now that's ultimate safety
r4nd3l h 😂😂😂im dead
Yeah, finger skating is more dangerous that's why we don't wear it during normal skating
😂😂😂

I'm moving to Sweden. Pontus and the dude who obviously is an awesome dad are rad as hell.

Seeing the girl skateboarder was awesome, I'm learning how to skate now

Its great but sucks for skating
You have an playlist called ”favoriter” witch are Swedish for favorits. Explain that!
This is just what skateboarding should be like, Friends hanging out and having a good time. If only things we're still like this, Good thing we have people like these.
best thing in life traveling around and go skating
Skateboard high school?! That would be a dream for me here in the states.
Yeah, they should start one up here in the UK too.
It got into a lot of trouble, one coach systematicly tortured pupils
@@ehrich1378 really? Damn..
@@isak8059 @Ehrich That was at another skateboard school, not from the high school depicted in this video.
Amazing to see skate dudes keeping it alive even in such no-go situations, especially the girl, only girl around there skating and staying motivated, bless you honey, you really made an example outta evryone.
One love.
the world has a lot to learn from Sweden... and not only skate wise, but everything else. they are truly superior.
like what are they superior in? i live in malmö i would love to know ur opinion

Marcus, det är ju inte alls sant.

Words to live by!
i remember watching this video over and over and it inspired me to skate and make my own skate spot
A great video that really captures the DIY aspect of swedish skating.
I skated with some of these guys when they were up here in Skellefteå and they still rip hard.
I DIDNT SEE A SINGLE SCOOTER AT THOSE PARKS
OH GOD THIS IS GLORIOUS
Jo, många vill det. Det är ju gråa och trista Sveriges motsats. Mycket mera öppet och trevligt.
Wow it's so good to see a DIY scene alive and well. I know of one homemade skate park in my town built around an abandoned building. the council came and put a bigger fence up once they found out
I really enjoy the fact, that you put "What's so Strange about me?" By Claus Grabke's Band at the beginning!
Please please please keep this series going.
Turns out that watching skating is quite enjoyable when there is no obnoxious music on.
Good stuff vice!
"the atmosphere around the spot is as important as the spot itself"
This. This x10.
Dang...Sweden is rad. Gonna have to take a journey someday.
As a Swede, it find it chilling to read this comment. It used to be a great place. Nowadays it's simply a gangster's paradise with daily gang shootings in most of the bigger cities.
Jag bor i SBG, är 13 år och åker skateboard alla dar i veckan. Jag älskar Skateboard!!!!!
Such a good documentary. I love when Vice does skateboarding!
This is why i love skating, because you could go to the most random park and feel accepted.
i love smaller european countries skate scenes because its all about the vibes and has nothing to do with money or the skate industry
Do you genuienly believe that? We've got supreme wearing, Nike Dunk buying twats too

Albert Nyberg has a line at the Train bank spot (02:03) in his ''Ten years of happiness'' video. Pretty cool.

Yes, shot it Saturday night. Unfortunately I didn't get the name of the skater, but people there will know him.
Vice documentary are damn good!
"You met them once, you know them for life"
Depends, on extended usage it is. Since the countries are so similar.
So much woods and green in Sweden, im inpressed + there is a lots of handsome and gorgeous gals and pals there XD
If skater were supported and parks built like they do in Sweden, there wouldn't be such a problem. Sweden is doing it right.
Hey Vice, thank you for those great Skateboardingdocumetarys !
did anybody notice how modern looking their skating style was in 95 ? , they were ahead of their time.
greetings from Sweden and keep on skatin :)
@sc0tte1 sweden accually is in the top ten esport countries currently with the NIP counterstrike team. So playing video games is also a plus to them.

I will always remember you
this was the best school ever. Peace, bryggan
Very good film Vice.
Yeah, i think we started in third grade, but i was in third grade in like 96 so it might be earlier nowadays:) But we also do not dub TV shows etc, so we tend to learn english from watching series and movies aswell. We only use subtitles.
Swedish and english both have the same roots as well, in fact, a couple hundred years ago you could not tell the difference between them!
Scandinavia: Sweden (my home country), Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland
You HAVE to go to Copenhagen and explore the skating scene there!!
I love risk takers! It takes courage to challenge the unknown.
Malmö have so many good places to skate 😀
Awesome episode, thanks!
i WISH norway could follow this example.... we got the money... or at least the state!
12:25 Young Chuck Norris xD

Please do a documentary on Scottish Skateboarding! And thanks for the Rattray Epicly Later'd!! We need more of that!
John Magnusson is actually known for strapping a baby to his chest when he skates. What a legend.
the perfect skatescene.

25:01 Amazing view. Imagine having an office like that.
Stapelbäddsparken
That indoor skatepark is frickin nice
I'm getting a board ordered tomorrow i gave up skating when i was 10, Time to get back into it.
Love looking at skating, but never tried. looks awesome, hell even rappers are skating now !

English in school in second or third grade and TV/Computers/Gaming.. We do not dub TV shows, only have subtitles.
Yall should come skate Gaste in Lund! Dope skate as well!
The thing at like 05:35 is not to make it less slippery, but so that blind people know where the bus stops.
