Lots of Leafs fans were hoping Swayman was gonna pull off a Nylander-style holdout for the next few months. Unfortunately for them, that kinda stuff seems to happen only to Toronto lol.
Hundred percent he was saying they we’re not even close to there number, and once he found out they were close he stepped in, which he almost said today in his presser but caught himself before he opened that can of worms
You talk like they’re going into free agency or something when they already have all of their skaters signed Unless you’re talking about the trade deadline
@@scottmiller8617 why? What’s the problem? Imo they’re similar to the 2020 and 2021 islanders those teams would’ve won the cup if it wasn’t for the dynasty lightning getting in the way
@@edited1325 they can't get out of the second round, and suddenly you think they're cup contenders? They don't have enough scoring and their centers are nothing special. They rely on defense and their goalie standing on his head. Teams like Florida, Edmonton, Vegas, NYR, etc, are far superior. The isles wouldn't have won any cups either, because they can't score.
This is a good contract for the Bruins. In 5 years, 8.25 million will be a bargain. The issue is that the Bruins are used to their players taking team friendly bargain contracts, Swayman wanted to be paid. I think Jesse is right on in his analysis of the way the negotiations went. Jesse remember at the end of the Nylander contract his contract that Leafs' fans thought was outrageous was seen as a bargain.
The fact that Montreal is still paying Carrie Price 10.5 million against the cap for two more years to not play hockey is hilarious. (Not Price's personal struggles, just the impact on the Habs.)
Yet another star player signing for 8 years. Still waiting for someone to follow Auston’s lead… Also waiting for another team to follow the Leafs’ lead in cap structure…
Gross thought he was dealing with Toronto. He negotiated through the media for over a year and as soon as Neely did the same he filled his diaper. His statement following that was 1 lie after another trying to save face. This deal is also terrible for Swayman considering Igor probably signs for $11M.
@@deltagolavista1 lol 😂 u think that? With the cap in 3 years most likely being 100+ million 8.25 million dollars for a vezina caliber goalie will be a steal
@@Tyekiller115 When has he ever been a vezina caliber goalie? Has he ever been nominated? He averages .915 when he plays more than 40 games, where an actual elite goalie like Hellebuyck and Saros is roughly in the .920 range. That's his comparable and Saros is making less. So market value even with the cap going up. There's risk involved as he has never had the pressure of being number 1. Hell he's never had the pressure period as his 1A goalie would rather give him hugs then attempt to take starts away from him. He will be facing the tougher teams this year as their won't be a capable replacement if he faulters. He seems like a goalie that won't be able to face adversity well. Only time will tell.
He's an excellent goalie entering his prime, with low mileage and no meaningful injury history. If there's any goalie with a great chance at lasting through a new 8 year contract right now, it's Swayman
Steve is in shambles in the studio for sure. Adam is laughing like the joker knowing h'es going to run the Atlantic for at least 8 more years.
The next SDPN is gonna be hilarious

Bruins now have 11.25 million committed to goalies. Its gonna be hard for them to upgrade elsewhere in their lineup.
