I love the face you make when you voice that the recipe calls for 7.5 cups of sugar! That’s beyond excessive, especially since peaches have so much natural sweetness.

Yes, it is way too much sugar. This recipe was good, we ate all of the jars. But I'm still trying to find a good recipe that doesn't use as much sugar. 🤗

The last time I had a box of peaches, I washed, pitted and chopped them(skins on)…cooked them down (no added sugar, sugar alternative or pectin) in a crock pot. Then, filled up jars and placed those in the freezer. I wasn’t sure if my concoction was safe to water bath can. I did add plenty of bottled lemon juice, btw. I’ve been eating on them for the last year, and the taste is great. Anyway, keep up the good work on reducing or avoiding sugar. New sub from TX here.

@@susiet2150 Thanks for this! When I canned cranberry sauce, I didn't use pectin, and I really liked it. I might start doing it that way too. I don't mind some sugar or sweetener like honey, but so many of these recipes have so much it that it's off-putting.

Try it with Real Lime juice...its amazing. It does the same thing as lemon without the risk of changing thr taste the way lemon can.

That peach jam looks so delicious, I bet the kids enjoyed picking the peaches off of the tree.
I'm almost ready to can some tomatoes, I'm going to do it like you said by freezing them first...to get the skin off and get rid of all the water, it makes sense to me...XXX🐮🐮🐮

The kids do love going to the farms. We go apple picking every year, so that's coming up soon. I love freezing tomatoes if I'm making sauce! I've been canning them fresh as whole/crushed tomatoes, and I still need to make salsa. But with so many ripening at once, I see myself starting to freeze them soon. Thank you Manda Moo!!! 🤗

@@TheBourneHomestead I'm getting half a bucket a day of tomatoes, I've just put a massive bag in the freezer, I would love a freeze dryer and seriously looking into it, they are very expensive..
I can't wait to see you all go apple picking...XXX 🐮🐮🐮

Okay, haven’t even finished watching, but…I have been using allulose for making my cowboy candy. It melts well and doesn’t recrystalize and is a great option if you’re doing low carb. You’re young so don’t have to worry about it (🤣), but just an fyi. I love watching canning videos ! Thanks

I just can't 6lb of chopped peaches as in after the peaches are peeled and pitted I had six pounds of yummy peach insides. And I only use three cups of sugar. It's great! These jam recipes call for way too much sugar.
