  • Easy Peach Jam Using Certo Fruit Pectin
Peaches happen to be a favorite for my husband and myself. Whether they are freshly sliced and in a bowl, canned in light syrup or made into jam peaches in the middle of winter is quite a treat.
Following the methods used in the video choose the fruit pectin you are most familiar with and follow the directions for that product. There is a difference between using liquid or fry pectin so read the instructions carefully.
    Take care folks! Colleen

I'm canning as you speak. It's 8/4/21. Did a batch of 12 half quart jars of peaches preserves earlier. Now it's 10:00 at night and I'm doing 12 half quart jars of peach jelly from the peelings and core. The pectin I used was Ball Realfruit Classic. But sometimes I would use Surejell low sugar pectin. I found a good deal on peaches at Kroger for 67 cents per pound! I stocked up bought $20. Worth! Happy Canning!

I want to do peach jam but have the skin still on the peaches... I think if they're all chopped up fine. It would add wonderful flavor... I remember years ago I used to make persimmon cookies(One of the best cookies I've ever made) and the skins of the persimmons- little pieces of the skin in the cookies. Oh my goodness! So delicious!

But I received my Nestor pressure canner and some other canning goodies, so I am hoping to take on the challenge of canning this fall. I adore your vids and wish you MUCH UA-cam success. Our weather here in NY is finally nice; such a hot summer here. I love the Fall. Sad that the Sheep and Wool Festival by me is virtual this year. I love knitting and festivals and gardening., lol. Looking forward to your future vids, stay safe, happy, and healthy.

@@sassyknitter5418 My goodness, you live in New York? I'm sure that has been difficult these long months since COVID struck? Our little community has been fortunate to not have had any cases so far but we live really close to the neighboring province of Alberta and they had quite a few so we feel like its just a matter of time. I have similar interests. I love to paint - acrylics, garden, cook and puzzle. Today, our beautiful fall faded to winter when it started snowing and continued for about 2 hours. It has changed to rain now but the mountains are covered. The snow didn't stick because the ground hasn't frozen yet but it certainly came down the mountain a long way. Soon it will be time for Boo, the grizzly bear to go into hibernation. Boo is Golden's rescue bear who lives at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. We thinks he's pretty fabulous, in fact he has his own facebook page. Boo Grizzly its called. @@oursilvermoments6028 I wish I could draw, painting sounds like a lovely pass time. I was able to work from home, so that was a good thing during the lockdown. It was definitely unnerving a touch, but lucky for me I’m a homebody so being ordered to stay home wasn’t a problem. My little studio cottage looked like a jungle after taking home the plants I tend to at work 😂. The devils ivy that is a lanky monster and normally sprawls over four filing cabinets was basically sprawling all over me at home. I bet those snow capped mountains look amazing. As my feet and legs swell like my Irish mother’s, I’ve grown to love the Fall even more 😂, this summer was grueling albeit everything I planted gardening wise would disagree. I’ve always wanted to get into canning and even once canned peaches 🍑 years back. Pressure anything seemed daunting; however, you’ve changed my mind on that and am looking to try my hand at it soon. Stay safe and if possible keep your COVID cases at zero. I’m more than an hour up from the city, you’d never know the city was a 55 min express train ride by looking around. A series of small river towns is where I live. I’m snuggly on top of a big hill in a little cottage where you hear traffic off in the distance. I dare a rioter to still want to riot once they get up my hill/mountain 😂. I’m certain I’d have to serve them refreshments first to recover from that long hard walk. I’m a country girl and proud of it. Take care, looking forward to you next informational vid, my best Marie.

You're working way to hard peeling those peaches. Cut an X in the bottom and dunk in boiling water like tomatoes. Like two min. the skin slips off. It doesn't make them brown.
Pomona's Pectin.... I just made a batch of jam with it last week. I used 3 cups of sugar but you can just use honey if you want or sugar substitute. I used 2 teaspoons of the calcium water and 2 teaspoons of the pectin.
We use Sure-jell for all sugar. I've used Certo also. Or just sugar and no pectin.
