I don't think the first one was bad or even sexualized, its just a matter of how age/seniority and how far down the path of worship to the Machine God a member of the Cult Mechanicus is. The lower rank members tend to be much, much more human and with her simpler robes and mechanical parts its clear your first conversion read more as 'young lady of the mechanicus' while this one is an old, saggy crone of old wrinkled flesh and weird metal parts. Both are completely valid esthetics for a Tech Priestess and represent the opposite ends of youth versus old age.
yeah, this is basically a feminine manipulus while the other is more of an enginseer (also a thing i really like about the original manipulus techpriests and some of the designs in the mechanicus games is how they are somewhat androgynous, since the admech dont care about gender expression really)
I have only recently gotten into the whole model part of warhammer, and I have to say that you have almost singlehandedly awakened my desire to learn to kitbash and sculpt. I am just in love with your work - especially Mechanicus ones. Great work!

Really good effort. I've been looking for a decent model for a Tech Priest. I overlooked this one. I think I'll start off with Fabius Bile but this Nurgle model is pretty useful for this purpose.
@@viciousyeen6644 I agree, for me it was lost at 2:59. The boob job removed the defining bit that made the techpriestess identifiable as a techpriestess. @@internetman1213 exactly! And it’s already hard to get female models that don’t look too sexy (don’t get me wrong some look good, but it just doesn’t fit in a realistic approach), this version here could’ve been a great representation of an older woman fitting the in-universe role of a magus perfectly.
Im 4 models in and loving it, though I must say tho that I bought a pack of miliput just to learn to sculpt and even kitbash, you awakened me to try and do that, as well as try to craft shields, or even little skills for bases (they aren’t good tho...) Gotta ask, what is your input on miliput vs Green stuff? Is greenstuff a bit more soft vs miliput? Miliput is a pain to sculpt
Thanks! It's awesome to see people excited in the hobby. Greenstuff is good for things like structural integrity: it's much stickier and more gummy before it hardens than milliput. Honestly I use both, and I'd just get some to try it out
This is incredible. I'm looking into making my own inquisitor with the same method. But I lack any spare bits to use. How does one approach this without investing into a lot of new characters?
okay this looks awesome! I love the pose you ended up with in the end! Just out of curiosity, have you ever thought of using the static hand weapon things of Corpuscarii electro-priests for a kitbash?
I just wonder were do you get all the bitz you use? Because your channel has inspired me to start kitbashing my own models and I was wondering if you bought whole kits or just bitz on bitz sites
So I largely use bit sites, because often I just want a piece of two from a given set and it's cheaper that way. That's said, if you're going to be using the full kit it can sometimes be more effective just to buy the full kit. So for example, with this build I bought the full wurmspat kit because I knew I would use all of it, while the manipulus parts I got off a bit site.
Its a shame you carved out the gut and chest on her before changing the first pair of arms as they would have looked cool on the final design Great stuff though, always really loved how you show the full process
IMO you should have carved off the nurgle belly first and kept the manipulus belly. You could have still changed the arms and maybe added a few more tiny tech bits and maintained the idea of a wise tech priestess. Plus, you wound up cutting off the belly of the nurgle kit anyway xD
"I want a female tech priest.". *immediately removes the only identifying female characteristic*. LOL! I got a chuckle over that. Still an awesome kitbash/conversion! I think it would have been worth it to go back a resculpt the breasts, or leave those off and sculpt in a long glorious braid. Like she wanted to remove the weakness of flesh, but still loves her hair. Inspirational for me, since my collection is very lacking in female characters (because I REFUSE to have over sexualized miniatures). Over half the ones I do have, I've had to sculpt clothes or armor on them for it to even make sense and look like they fit.
Ooh, I like the braid idea. I'll have to remember it. And yeah, it's a pain how few non over sexualized female models there are. I'm actually currently working on a video for making alternate sisters of battles that are less corset-and-bustier-esque.
@@kitbosh can't wait! I run my own home brew rules for skirmish gaming and definitely need some female characters that are actually dressed for battle haha! The Sedition Wars game had some really good minis. They were about 50/50 male and female, and all wore same body armor.
I absolutely love this, though as others have said I don't think she particularly reads as female anymore (not that she reads as male either; it's a bit of a moot point when it comes to techpriests of a certain age anyway). But if she wants to tell me she's a woman, I'm not inclined to argue. :p
This reads really well as a techpriest, but it doesn't really read as female to me. Carving out the front was necessary, but it left her gender rather difficult to discern-- All that's left, after all, are her hips to go by. I'd be absolutely down to see this girl on the table, though!
