- Hello!
Welcome to Edible Thoughts Makes. My name is Stephanie (she/her/hers). In this video, I talk about two bags I sewed up using the Core Belt Bag (free pattern) by Core Fabrics. I made some slight changes and have a couple of tips to share!

Awesome adorable bags!!! thanks for sharing your creative adventure and enjoy them, they’re so joyful!!!! 🪁
Thanks so much 😊
Wow. Deine Taschen sind phantastisch! Ich wünschte, ich könnte auch so toll nähen wie du. Es ist immer wieder toll zu sehen was du zauberst, egal ob beim stricken, häkeln, nähen, kochen oder backen. Danke. Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland.😊
Lovely choices in fabric for your bags. You'll get alot of use from these.
Thank you! 😊 I think so!
Thank you for the sewing projects! I love my purl soho skirt and Celeste pants, many book and recipe recommendations, gardening and family outings and even started playing piano again after hearing some earlier music on your podcast. Fabulous variety!
Oh yay!!! You're so so welcome. This makes me so happy. Thank you!!!
Your pale green sweater is BEE♡EWE♡TEA♡FULL
🐝 🐑 🍵 🎉
Thank you!!
So pretty Stephanie! You definitely inspiring me to add this to the sewing queue!
Thank you Stacy!!! Excited for your sewing queue!!
As always inspiring.
Thank you! Cheers!
That’s pretty ingenious about switching out straps!
Thanks!
Your second bag is beautiful!! 👏👏👏💕💕💕
Thank you! 🤗
Both crossbody bags are cute. You did a great job making them.
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for sharing! I can’t wait to try it.
Thanks for watching! Yay!!!
Such fun projects and perfect for summer fun. Might have inspired me to make one of my own. 😉 Can’t wait to see what fabric combinations you come up with next! ❤Mia
Thank you so much Mia!!!!! Excited to see yours!!!!!💕💕💕
That second one is so you! Gorgeous !
Thank you 💖
Thanks! I need one of these, like you, I have some cool straps just waiting to be used………thanks for sharing your creativity with us. ❤
Yay!!! Happy sewing!!!
Love this Stephanie!
Thank you Beth!
Absolutely so excited about this! I am definitely going to try it. The fall idea is so great. I got some wool on a trip that would be perfect. Thanks for the video!!
YAY!!! A wool one sounds fabulous!!!
Such cute & useful bags! I don’t sew (no machine… or room for), but I hear ya: this/that fabric in xyz theme… love possibilities!
Never cared for the smaller fannypacks, but that larger size works better for me (knitting stuff!!!)
Too funny: “… make ANOTHER…”
Thanks for a few giggles!
💖💖💖
Love your fabric choices! I've never made a bag this shape before, I'll have to give it a try!
Thank you so much! It was my first time sewing this specific shape/construction!
❤❤❤

Love these. You can also do half inch D rings since you're only hooking the swivel clasp to it. I do that sometimes. Love your fussy cutting 💙 So Cute!
Thanks! But the cotton webbing I have is 1 inch wide, not half inch wide so 1 inch D rings work for me!
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes I meant for any future projects. As an idea to keep the hardware minimal on the bag. You can still make the strap any size you want, but I totally understand using what you have. I love your sewing content that goes along with your knitting. TFS!
Ooh I love especially the secong bag, beautiful! I downloaded the pattern, might have to try to make one! :D
Thank you so much! I love having a more neutral one and a bright one to choose from depending on my mood. Excited for you!!!!
❤❤❤❤
Love your crossbody bags, very stylish! I wish that I had learned to sew growing up. My mother and grandmother sewed beautifully, and both of them were willing to teach me. But sewing made me very nervous.
Thank you so much! It makes me a little nervous. Sewing is much less forgiving than knitting!! There's no ripping back because once it's cut...it's cut lol. And no "it'll block out" type of situations!!!
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes Exactly. Sewing is math, knitting is language arts.
Great video, thank you. I am definitely going to make at least one. To clarify, were your fabric pieces too small because you used a different zipper than was called for. I am hoping to avoid that issue.
You’re welcome! I don’t believe the pattern said anything about the zipper width but I could’ve missed it. However, the instructions say to sew with a half inch seam allowance onto the zipper tape part but I found that I couldn’t do that with the random zippers I had on hand.
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes Thank you your response. Love your bags and cannot wait to use up bits of fabric. So many possibilities.
@@ddsmyth Ok I did a little more research and found this post helpful: www.parkerontheporch.com/blogs/news/faq-series-all-about-zippers-3-or-4-5-or-5#:~:text=%233%20zippers%20are%20the%20all,tape%20that%20is%201%22%20wide..
I must have the number 3 craft zippers on hand because they're the narrower ones which makes sense why I couldn't sew 1/2 inch seams into the zipper tape. The other two sizes in the post are 1.25 inch wide total - though I'm not sure why they switch between millimeters when mentioning the zipper width but switch to inches for the whole zipper width.... Anyway, hope that helps!
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes It helps. Very thoughtful to provide this information, thank you. I will check the zippers I have on hand.
