Thanks for sharing. If I could offer just a small safety tip to all. Before you start sewing, just make sure when you insert the twin needle in your sewing, use the handwheel to ensure that the needle doesn’t hit the plate. This is from experience. I did not do that and hit the button to start the machines. The needle came down, hit the plate, broke and hit me in the forehead, but don’t worry I was OK.

Sometimes the fabric will bunch or create "tunnel" between stitches and...I'm guilty of not paying attention weather I used stretch/ universal/ jeans needle. I'm onto part II of your tutorial. Yes, this would be perfect on denim! And also yes, your thread weights need to be the same, otherwise the larger thread will throw off the tension for the smaller thread. Hi! So glad you liked the video. After I made this one, I realized that I didn't include threading, and another technique I wanted to show, so I made a Part II. You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/pPvtylD1VeA/v-deo.html As far as the proper presser foot, it needs to have a wide opening for the needle. If you still aren't sure, you can hand-crank the hand wheel. and go through the decorative stitch on a scrap, and see if it is gong to hit at any point. But most feet with a wide opening will work!

I guess I need to do another video explaining that! You need two spools of thread; but instead of buying two spools, just fill a second bobbin to be your second spool. Thread both threads through your machine as normal, and then put one thread through each needle. Does that make sense?

I know the first /ordinary part but I am stuck on the second part or maybe I just don't know where to place the 2nd spool of thread. I feel like an idiot. I sure hope you thread it in the future. No special machines. The double needles have one single top, that goes in just like a regular needle. You either need two spools of the thread, or, you can wind a second bobbin, and use that as a spool. You thread both threads through the machine. I do them separately. Then through the needles. That’s it. Just sew as normal. You may need to loosen your tension a bit, so try it on a scrap first.

Interesting video. Like others I would like to see how you thread your machine. Also, you said you used a decorative stitch with the larger side needle can you expand on that more. Is there a specific stitch you used or can any decorative stitch be used. Thanks much.

I literally just chose the stitches I used in the video at random from my machine. Hope that answers your question!

Also a straight stitch only machine won't accommodate a twin needle as the plate hole is too small.

It was one of the stitches programmed into my Pfaff 7550. But it would work with any decorative stitch

Use coloured thread
Colored thread can make a nice top stitch!
Should have used white cloth with black thread.
