Modern Tall Entryway Table

- I was able to build a modern tall entryway table for my wife and posted a UA-cam video #sponsored by @minwaxusa. I started with a set of templates that I drafted in 3-D space and cut out using my CNC. I then cut the legs and aprons on the table saw using the templates and an L-fence. The entire piece was joined using Domino slip tenons since this piece did not require any decorative exposed joinery. Next, I cut an underbevel on the table-top and shelf. After finish prep, I used Minwax Silvered Gray Oil-Based Stain. Finally, applied Minwax Wipe-On Poly to achieve a classic, hand-rubbed look an ambered tone.

"L Fence": Brilliant! Never seen that before but will be building one before my next project. Thank you!
It's extraordinarily useful! I need to do a video on the many uses of an L-fence.
Glad to see you posting again. Very nice piece.
Thank you very much!
Nice, Simple and elegant.
Thank you!
I love how precise and clean all your work and workspace is. The older I get the more I realise how important process is to virtually all aspects of life, and this is a beautiful illustration. With all the planning and jigs (and tools) in place, you make the actual construction look easy. My only (non-serious) complaint is having to wait seven months for the next video! Keep it up Huy.
I know, I really need to be better about putting out videos. I'm just so busy with my young family that I spend all my free time building.
@@AlabamaWoodworker I hear you, from one dad to another, with far too many unfinished projects around the home and garden. All part of the process.
Very elegant
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful build! I know YT can be a full time job in itself but man I wish you would put out more content! Your production is fabulous throughout.
I really appreciate you watching! I'm very much in the stage of life where I have very young kids. Hopefully, as they grow, I'll be able to edit more video. I'm actually sitting on a lot of content. I just need the time to put it together until videos.
Beautiful piece Huy. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful piece, well done.
Thank you very much!
That turned out great.
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the video Huy! Very nice project.
Thank you for watching!
Very nice.
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful table! Nice clean design!
Beautiful work! Thanks for posting!
Great build! And holy crap, please link those 3D printed domino glue cap things!
You got it! I included link's to Steve's videos and a link to his free STL files.
Another Alabama woodworker here (stuck in California) FINALLY someone who appreciates red oak for what it is! A pretty great wood that's cheap and doesn't have to look like Grandma's cabinets! I built a kitchen table out of the stuff and a very similar sofa table. The table was given a similar look with a white hard wax oil and the sofa table I ebonized with India ink for the legs (walnut slab top). White oak would have been as expensive as walnut in my area...Great work!
White Oak has gotten outrageously expensive in North Alabama. I don't know why, but it's just as expensive as Walnut. If treated properly, I think Red Oak looks great. The India ink and white hardwax oil sounds like a great contrasting combination.
very nice techniques
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice job, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
Well done Huy. So many good tips in this video. Beautiful table
Glad it was helpful!
Requested? U mean she told you., im married too..😂
table looks great! What brand push blocks are those ur using I really like them!
Haha! You know it all too well! Good to hear from you, Joe!
Outstanding!!! Great design and execution. Do you sell plans for this?
Thank you! I don't have plans. However, if you contact me via my website (alabamawoodworker.com) I'd be happy to share the vector file for the templates.
Great video! Would you mind sharing information regarding your CNC? Home built? Design?
It's a machine built by a CNC builder in the Seattle area. Carl Bruce from Speedline CNC. It's 3hp water cooled spindle, 48"x48" cutting area, ball screw x- y- and z-axis, 1/2" aluminum bed. It's a pretty simple machine, but quite industrious.
It looks like you're using a windows surface device. What's the modeling software that you use?
what’s the brand and name of the two sided tape you use? and where do you source it? great video…🙂
I'm using X-fasten double-sided tape (not their woodworking tape, which is too thick). Their double-sided tape is really thin and is very strong if you make sure you have good adhesion by using a hard rubber roller.
You can find it on Amazon. Not sure you can purchase it direct.
@@AlabamaWoodworker where can I get that tape? 😊
